World's 1st mountaintop impact crater discovered in northeastern China

A nearly mile-wide (1.6 kilometer) divot in a Chinese mountaintop is actually an impact crater from a long-ago meteorite landing.

The newly discovered crater, located in northeastern China not far from the North Korean border, is the first confirmed mountaintop crater on Earth. Researchers aren't sure when the impact happened, but it left a circular depression and split the mountaintop into two peaks, known as Front Baijifeng and Rear Baijifeng.

The mountain peaks are littered with rock fragments known locally as "celestial stone," which turns out to be a scientifically accurate moniker. According to a new study, published Sept. 1 in the journal Matter and Radiation at Extremes, rocks on the peaks bear the telltale shock patterns of an impact with a space object.

The researchers were intrigued by the shape of the depression between the mountain's two peaks, which spans about 4,593 feet (1,400 meters), and by the debris-like scattering of large sandstone fragments on the mountain.

They collected samples of sandstone and granite from the surface of the possible crater and examined the quartz minerals within. When shocked by huge amounts of heat and pressure, quartz deforms in a particular way, so the team looked for signs of such deformation. The researchers, led by Ming Chen and Ho-Kwang Mao of the Center for High Pressure Science and Technology Advanced Research in Shanghai, found dozens of examples of these deformations in thin slices of rock taken from the crater.

The granite that makes up the crater formed between 150 million and 172 million years ago, which means the impact must have happened after this period, but the exact timing remains unknown, according to the new paper. Weathering patterns at one of the only other two confirmed impact craters in China — the Yilan crater in Heilongjiang province — are similar to the patterns seen on Baijifeng, the researchers wrote, suggesting their ages might be similar.

Yilan crater, at 49,000 years old, is the largest impact crater under 100,000 years old ever found. The third impact crater in China, also confirmed by Chen, is called the Xiuyan crater, also in the country's northeast.

A very massive crater, known only from the scattered glassy rocks created by the impact that fell as far away as Australia, may also be buried beneath the desert in northwestern China, according to research published in August in the journal Scientific Reports. But scientists have yet to uncover its location.

As reported earlier on Tuesday, The House Judiciary Republicans sent a letter Tuesday that includes transcribed testimony from former Assistant Director-in-Charge of the Washington Field Office (WFO) Steven D’Antuono.

D’Antuono testified that the FBI had numerous confidential human sources (CHS) in the Trump crowd on January 6.

In fact, they had so many FBI operatives in the crowd they had no idea how many were actually there that day!

D’Antuono had quite a record of failures and lies during his time at the FBI.

D’Antuono was the head of the FBI’s Detroit field office as the bureau was investigating an alleged kidnapping attempt against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

As Just the News notes, trial testimony alleges the “plot” wasn’t just investigated but instigated by the FBI, with the jury hearing that the bureau’s informants gave drugs to those who were eventually charged in the plotbefore recording their conversations and sometimes outnumbered “plotters” during meetings.

The entire plot was hatched, planned, paid for, and executed by paid FBI informants.

The FBI informants pushed the violent plans to kidnap Whitmer. It was all a setup. And D’Antuono was in charge of the office where they ran the operation. He was then later promoted to the DC office before the Jan. 6 protests and riot.

In the letter released on Tuesday, D’Antuono told House investigators that he did not know how many FBI agents had infiltrated the crowd on January 6.

The letter suggested that “the FBI cannot adequately track the activities and operations of its informants, and that it lost control of its CHSs present at the Capitol on January 6,” D’Antuono wrote.

Later in the interview, he told investigators that “only a handful” of FBI informants were in the crowd that day.

For over two years now, The Gateway Pundit has been reporting on the FBI informants and feds who infiltrated the Trump crowds on January 6, 2021.

And we can report – for certain – that Assistant Director-in-Charge of the Washington Field Office (WFO) Steven D’Antuono is lying about the number of FBI operatives and informants in the crowd on January 6th.

1.) The FBI infiltrated the Proud Boys — and at least one FBI informant exonerated the Proud Boys of any conspiracy on January 6.

The evidence exonerates Trump supporters and the Proud Boys of any conspiracy or planning to storm the US Capitol, to enter the US Capitol, or to overthrow official proceedings.

The FBI had the evidence that there was “no conspiracy” or plans made by the Proud Boys and others to invade and take control of the US Capitol. The FBI ignored this information from their own operative. They ran with lies about an insurrection instead.

2.) The FBI was recruiting men and women to infiltrate the crowds and work as operatives prior to January 6th.

On Thursday afternoon, September 30th, at 3:45 PM Eastern, the FBI raided Jeremy Brown’s home and arrested Jeremy. The charge is trespassing. The FBI sent 20 vehicles for his arrest. DHS and Pinellas County law enforcement were also present. The FBI was in Jeremy’s home for 5-and-a-half hours looking for evidence.

The FBI searched his house, RV, and trailer. Then, they arrested Jeremy and took him away.

Some sick person hacked President Trump’s eldest son’s X (formerly Twitter) account this morning and posted several bizarre and disturbing messages, including one falsely announcing President Trump had died.

The news was first reported by the New York Post.

The first message was sent at 8:25 AM ET, where the account “announced” the 45th President had died and Trump. Jr would be running in his place.

More bizarre and clearly hacked messages followed, including one saying, “North Korea is about to get smoked.”

On September 16, 2023, the Solar Ultraviolet Imager (SUVI) instrument onboard GOES-East observed a large solar filament rippling off the face of the sun. Near the middle of this 24-hour imagery, there is a dark "flash." This was the satellite passing into the Earth's shadow. For the GOES satellites, there are two eclipse seasons; one in the fall (Aug/Sept) and one in the spring (March/April).

Filaments are cooler regions that can erupt and become a key source of space weather when the sun is active. These can sometimes produce coronal mass ejections (CMEs), hurtling huge tangled clouds of plasma and magnetic fields out into the solar system. The Space Weather Prediction Center uses satellite data to produce space weather forecasts to predict the impact solar storms can have on Earth. This particular event caused aurora borealis in the Northern Hemisphere.

The GOES-East geostationary satellite's high-resolution imagery provides optimal viewing of severe weather events. However, it doesn’t just view Earth. The satellite also carries a suite of instruments, such as SUVI and EXIS, that monitor the sun and detect approaching space weather hazards. SUVI is a telescope that takes images of the full sun in six extreme ultraviolet channels around the clock. Various elements in the atmosphere of the sun release light at specific wavelengths depending on their temperature, so by observing in several different wavelengths, it can give us a more complete picture of the sun’s upper atmospheric and underlying structure.

Merrick Garland Accused Of Going Easy On Unabomber

Former FBI deputy assistant director of counterterrorism Terry Turchie appeared on Jesse Watters’ Fox News show today and made a shocking, but not surprising, allegation. Turchie said that U.S. Attorney General, Merrick Garland, obstructed the F.B.I.’s investigation of eco-terrorist Ted Kaczynski, more commonly known as the Unabomber. Garland did this, Turchie alleges, while in charge of the Kaczynski’s prosecution when Garland was working at the Justice Department during the Clinton Administration. From Fox News:

“I’ve never said this publicly, but I’ll just tell you right now because it just sickens me to watch and listen to Merrick Garland, because Merrick Garland was in charge of the prosecution at DOJ of the Unabomber,” Turchie said. “And I have to tell you something: He would not recommend to the AG that our search warrant to get into Theodore Kaczynski’s cabin be approved.” …

Turchie said Garland and his group of attorneys “had us working ’til 2 or 3 in the morning of April 3.”

“And finally, the AG Janet Reno, along with Louis Freeh, they stepped in, they approved the search warrant anyway,” he said. “Now, that was a case where we had bombs on airplanes. We had threats to blow up airplanes midair. We had people killed with bombs for 18 years. He wouldn’t do anything.”

Garland “would not recommend to the AG that we get into that cabin on April 3,” Turchie said. “He didn’t see the urgency then, and he didn’t seem to care about agents being up all night trying to get ready for that.”

This accusation comes shortly after the raid on Donald Trump’s home, Mar-a-Lago. During a press conference today, Garland admitted to signing off on the warrant that allowed for the FBI search after Newsweek (quoting a Justice Department source) initially reported the U.S. Attorney General had no knowledge of it.

Let this sink in, the Attorney General of the United States approved a warrant for the FBI to conduct a potentially illegal search of Donald Trump’s home that resulted in the confiscation of documents. But Garland would not recommend to his superior at the time, Attorney General Janet Reno, to pursue a warrant in order to search an eco-terrorist’s home while previously serving in the Justice Department.

Ted Kaczynski’s violent acts represent the true nature of environmentalism and Garland’s contradictory decision-making isn’t a case of misplaced priorities or misunderstanding a threat. Rather it demonstrates the left’s ethic of preferring the savage over the civilized.

Ruth coolly accepts and her husband, Teddy, readily agrees to the setup. Jacinda Ardern may no longer be Prime Minister of New Zealand, but she was back at the United Nations continuing her call for international censorship.

Ardern is now one of the leading anti-free speech figures in the world and continues to draw support from political and academic establishments.

In her latest attack on free speech, Ardern declared free speech as a virtual weapon of war.

She is demanding that the world join her in battling free speech as part of its own war against “misinformation” and “disinformation.”

Her views, of course, were not only enthusiastically embraced by authoritarian countries, but the government and academic elite.

In her speech, she notes that we cannot allow free speech to get into the way of fighting things like climate change. She notes that they cannot win the war on climate change if people do not believe them about the underlying problem. The solution is to silence those with opposing views. It is that simple.

While some of us have denounced her views as an attack on free expression, Harvard rushed to give her not one but two fellowships.

While the free speech community denounced her for unrelenting attacks on this human right, Harvard praised her for “strong and empathetic political leadership” and specifically enlisted her to help “improve content standards and platform accountability for extremist content online.”

I actually have no objection to the inclusion of Ardern as a Harvard fellow. She is a former world leader who is leading the movement against free speech. It is a view that students should consider in looking at these controversies.

However, Harvard has heralded her views with no acknowledgment of her extreme antagonism toward free speech principles.

There is also little countervailing balance at the school with fellows supporting free speech as a human right. Rather, Harvard (which ranks dead last on the recent free speech survey) has become a virtual clearinghouse for anti-free speech academics and advocates.

Free speech is now commonly treated on campuses as harmful.

Rather than the right that defines us, it is treated as an existential threat.

What is so chilling is to hear Ardern express her fealty to free speech as she calls on the nations of the world to severely curtail it to prevent people from undermining their policies and priorities.

She remains the “empathetic” face of raw censorship and intolerance. She is now the virtual ambassador-at-large for global speech criminalization.

The Gates Foundation has an endowment of $40 billion US dollars, and Bloomberg Philanthropies has $50 billion.

These foundations are not only closely linked to the World Health Organization, but also to Big Pharma and Big Finance, as well as the research sector. They combine investment, research funding, political lobbying, policy advising, and of course, public relations.

A 49-year-old man is charged with seven counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

The man tried everything to keep his case in court secret, with his legal team choosing not to comment when approached outside the Richlands Magistrates Court.

What did we do to deserve this?

This is the new objective of the globalist elites.They want to control speech so they can lie more freely without being caught. Sick, sick people.

Jacinda Ardern: We launched an initiative alongside companies and nonprofits to help improve research and understanding of how a person’s online experiences are curated by automated processes. This will also be important in understanding more about myths and disinformation online, a challenge that we must, as leaders, address. Sadly, I think it’s easy to dismiss this problem as one in the margins. I can certainly understand the desire to leave it to someone else.

As leaders, we’re rightly concerned that even the most light touch approaches to disinformation could be misinterpreted as being hostile to the values of free speech that we value so highly. But while I cannot tell you today what the answer is to this challenge, I can say with complete certainty that we cannot ignore it. To do so poses an equal threat to the norms we all value. After all, how do you successfully end a war if people are led to believe the reason for its existence is not only legal, but noble? How do you tackle climate change if people do not believe it exists?

How do you ensure the human rights of others are upheld when they are subjected to hateful and dangerous rhetoric and ideology? The weapons may be different, but the goals of those who perpetuate them is often the same to cause chaos and reduce the ability of others to defend themselves, to disband communities, to collapse the collective strength of countries who work together.

ARLINGTON, VA – As people around the world continue to grapple with a cascade of affidavits and eyewitness accounts which seem to point to a stolen presidential election, another question emerged on Tuesday during a press conference in Arlington, Virginia: How can a huge trailer filled with completed mail-in ballots disappear from a secure U.S. Postal Service facility?

Positing this question is Pennsylvania trucker Jesse Morgan – a driver who claims he used the missing trailer to pick up 24 Gaylord containers filled with ballots in Bethpage, NY; drove said cargo to the USPS facilityin Harrisburg, PA; sat parked in the facility yard for six hours waiting in vain for permission to unload his cargo; then was finallydispatched to Lancaster, PA. where he unhitched the still loaded trailer, parked his tractor elsewhere, and went home for the night.

When Jesse returned to the USPS facility the next morning to retrieve his trailer, it was gone. And as of this writing – six weeks after the trailer’s disappearance on Oct. 21 – he still has no idea where it is.

A new solution for treating methamphetamine addiction may be in the works. At Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, emergency room doctors are taking part in a national trial using monoclonal antibodies to treat the addiction.

Monoclonal antibodies became more well-known during the pandemic as a treatment for Covid, but they've been around for decades as a treatment for cancer, or even snake bites.

To learn more, KUOW’s Kim Malcolm spoke to Providence's Dr. Thomas Robey about how these antibodies bind to meth in the blood, allowing the body to process the drug, and wash it out.

This interview has been edited for clarity.

Dr. Thomas Robey: This is still very early in the experimental phase, but what we found so far in the initial phases of this treatment is that after receiving this drug, people's symptoms from the methamphetamine intoxication improve very quickly. So, if they were paranoid, they're less so. If they were agitated, they're less so. If they were anxious, they're less so. It's a game changer, really, if it turns out that this will end up working for our population.

Kim Malcolm: How do you see it changing the game?

As the ER doc, seeing folks who are coming in high on these drugs, or incapacitated by them, it's really difficult for us because we really don't have any treatment that can help them long term. Sure, we can treat their symptoms and help them in the short term, get them back out safely from the ER. But we really don't have any treatments that can help them recover from their addiction. And that's where this binding antibody comes into play. It acts for a long duration, and can help people get on their feet, if they're willing to quit using.

How would it change how I want to take meth? Or what kind of impact it would have on me?

This drug is an antibody that stays in your bloodstream for more than a month. The half-life is 19 days, which means that you have several weeks where this antibody will be circulating, binding to any methamphetamine that it sees in the blood. Effectively, what this means is that if you slip up in your commitment to stop using and use a little bit of meth, you're not going to get as high because the antibody is right there acting as an antidote to what you've used.

The advantage for this long term is that maybe you can get your housing voucher, or maybe you can get your ID, or maybe you can figure out a little bit more about other things you need in your life to try to normalize your interaction with society that doesn't involve methamphetamine.

How would you say the trial is going so far? What have you seen?

What is really amazing with this particular treatment is that folks come in affected by meth, they get the treatment, and it's almost like a light switch. Within 30 minutes to an hour they're no longer affected by the drug. They're making plans for getting clean or trying to get back into housing. That's the real promise, I think, that this agent has is that there are a lot of people out there who are using who don't want to use, but it's so hard to break the cycle. This drug may be that way to break the cycle.

Sarah Ashton-Cirillo has been suspended from duties as Ukrainian military spokesperson pending an investigation, following comments by the transgender former US soldierthreatening to "hunt down" critics of the US’ involvement in the Ukraine war.

"Statement of the Command of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regarding some statements of the spokesperson of the TDF, Junior Sergeant Sarah Ashton-Cirillo," a statement form the Ukraine Territorial Defense Forces, posted to X on Wednesday morning, read.

"The statements of JSgt Ashton-Cirillo in recent days were not approved by the command of the TDF or the command of the AFU. When conducting military operations against the aggressor, the defense forces of Ukraine strictly observe the norms of international humanitarian law," the statement added.

In a video posted to X on September 13, Ashton-Cirillo said, "Russia hates the truth, that their obsessive focus on a Ukrainian volunteer is simply allowing the light of the Ukrainian nations honesty to shine brightly."

"Next week, the teeth of the Russian devils will gnash ever harder, and their rabid mouths will foam [with] uncontrollable frenzy as the world will see a favorite Kremlin propagandist pay for their crimes."

"And this puppet of Putin is only the first Russia's war criminal propagandists will all be hunted down, and justice will be served as we in Ukraine are led on this mission by faith in God, liberty, and complete liberation."

Ashton-Cirillo is a 46-year-old biological male from Florida, who previously went by Mike.

On his show Thursday, Jack Posobiec reminded his audience that Ashton-Cirillo "is a member of the armed forces.That means he's under investigation from the same agency that he threatened to send after me."

"When you join the military, and those of us who actually served with know how this works, that means you fall under the military code of justice. And now you are going to face justice."

The 'highly mutated' COVID variant BA.2.86 — known as Pirola — has landed in Australia

A new COVID variant nicknamed "Pirola" has been detected in Australia after sparking a sped-up vaccination program in the United Kingdom.

A new variant in itself is not unusual — viruses evolve and change over time, and new mutated versions pop up frequently.

However, this one caught the attention of scientists.

What is BA.2.86, aka the Pirola variant?

According to the British Medical Journal, Pirola appears to have evolved from the Omicron subvariant BA.2, which was widely circulating in early 2022.

One case has been detected in Australia, in a laboratory in Western Australia, genomic sequencing data shows.

However, there could be more out there because only a fraction of all COVID-19 infections get submitted to for testing.

WA's health department said the case in Australia was "closely related – without significant differences – to those BA.2.86 strains reported from other countries".

The World Health Organization labelled BA.2.86 a "variant under monitoring" — which means they're keeping a close eye on it — in mid-August.

It has not been formally called a "variant of concern" yet or given a Greek name like Omicron or Delta.

Pirola is an informal nickname the variant received on social media from a community who track COVID variants.

Where did this new variant come from?

While new variants emerge all the time, scientists became interested in this one because of how mutated it was compared to its predecessor.

It has 33 changes to its spike proteins — the pointy part of the virus that infects human cells — compared to BA.2, analysis from China found.

To put that into context, that's the same magnitude of changes that made Omicron so distinct from the Delta variant which dominated the world in late 2020, the US Centers for Disease Control said.

Foreign Ministry to provide $100mil to WHO for bolstering pandemic management as Albanese set to declare COVID-19 inquiry

The federal government has committed $100 million in funds to the World Health Organisation to "prevent, prepare and respond" to pandemics, ahead of the Prime Minister's long-anticipated announcement of an inquiry into Australia's COVID-19 response.

The Australian government has pledged $100 million in foreign aid to the World Health Organisation (WHO) in a bid to bolster management of pandemics on a global scale.

Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong announced the funding package on the second day of the high-level UN General Assembly, following a convention debate in the area of Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response (PPPR).

The government said it would provide $75 million in voluntary core funding over five years to the WHO and a further $25 million for the WHO’s Health Emergencies Programme.

“COVID-19 demonstrated that global challenges require collective action,” Minister Wong said in a statement.

“Our commitment to the WHO will support activities to mitigate the risk of future pandemics, including strengthening national health systems and responding to disease outbreaks.”

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will also work in collaboration with the WHO and its partners to support coordinated responses to other emerging diseases threats in the Indo-Pacific and ensure the global health system meets the region’s needs.

Ms Wong said this cohesive approach will help Australia “be better prepared for future shocks”.

“We need a strong global health system to help keep Australia, our region, and the world safe. This means a strong, capable WHO with the authority to respond quickly and decisively to complex health emergencies,” she said.

The commitment comes a day ahead of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s long-awaited announcement of a 12-month COVID inquiry into Australia’s response to the pandemic since its onset.

Mr Albanese and Health Minister Mark Butler will front the media on Thursday to release details about the special inquiry, which will scrutinise the work of both state and federal level jurisdictions.

Reportedly led by three medical and economy experts, it expected to take a deep dive into several factors surrounding pandemic management since 2020, including decisions around lockdowns, interstate border closures and the shutdown of schools and businesses.

As Opposition Leader during the first two years of the pandemic, Mr Albanese had committed to conducting an in-depth inquiry of some form, although saying in January 2022 it would be best suited for after “the heat of the pandemic” had settled.

The WHO declared in May this year the COVID-19 pandemic was no longer considered a global health emergency.

Judge Rebuffs Hunter Biden’s Lawyers, Orders Hunter to Appear IN PERSON at Arraignment on Federal Gun Charges

A magistrate judge on Wednesday ordered Hunter Biden to appear IN PERSON at his arraignment on September 26 on federal gun charges.

Hunter Biden was indicted on federal gun charges last Thursday.

Biden was indicted in a Delaware court on three counts related to his possession of a firearm while using drugs.

“Two of the counts carry a maximum prison sentence of 10 years, while the third has a maximum of five years,” NBC News reported.

Special Counsel Dave Weiss indicted Hunter Biden after the sweetheart plea deal fell apart last month.

Hunter Biden was charged with “one count of False Statement in Purchase of a Firearm, one count of False Statement Related to Information Required to be Kept By Federal Firearms Licensed Dealer, and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Person who is an Unlawful User of or Addicted to a Controlled Substance.” ABC News reported.

Biden is expected to plead not guilty in a Delaware court on three counts related to his possession of a firearm while using drugs.

The judge rebuffed Hunter’s request to appear for his arraignment ‘virtually.’ The judge said Hunter Biden has to appear in person.

ABC News reported:

A federal magistrate judge on Wednesday denied Hunter Biden’s effort to avoid appearing in person at his arraignment on federal gun charges, ordering him to appear at a hearing scheduled for Oct. 3.

Judge Christopher Burke wrote that the president’s son “should be treated just as would any other defendant in our court.”

Hunter Biden’s legal team had sought to have him appear virtually, citing “the financial impact on government resources and the logistical burden on the downtown area of Wilmington” as reason enough to avoid an in-person appearance.

Former US Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund’s Shocking Admission Regarding Federal Assets at US Capitol Grounds on Jan 6

On Tuesday, The Gateway Pundit reported that there was a letter released by the House Judiciary Committee of testimony from former Assistant Director-in-Charge of the Washington Field Office that acknowledged there were numerous FBI confidential human sources (CHS) in the crowd on January 6th at the US Capitol. There were so many involved, from different Field Offices, that D’Antuono recommended:”‘to do a poll or put out something to people saying w[ere] any CHSs involved‘ so the FBI could try to ascertain how many CHSs had been in attendance.”

Prior to that letter being released, former US Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund sat for a hearing with the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight. During the questioning by Rep. Greg Murphy (R-NC), he asked Chief Sund questions about law enforcement being embedded in the crowd and whether or not there is a process for a federal agency to be on Capitol Grounds in plain clothes. Specifically, Rep. Murphy asked:

“Do you know if the FBI or DHS had any plain-clothes employees in the crowd on January 6th?”

Chief Sund responded:

“Only what I’m learning from the GAO report that came out in [in audible]”

This is remarkable to consider that the Chief of the US Capitol Police was not aware of any Federal law enforcement or employees who were working in plain clothes on the Capitol grounds that day. Chief Sund discussed this briefly during his interview with Tucker Carlson that we covered at The Gateway Pundit (around the 36 min mark). Chief Sund claims that if the FBI had reached out to anyone, it could have been his Deputy Chief, Yogananda Pittman, who was in charge of intelligence. Pittman, who received a sweetheart deal to remain on as a USCP Deputy Chief on unpaid leave in order to reach her time required for a penchant, has not yet been subpoenaed and is now the Chief of UC-Berkley’s Police Department.
