In a memorandum, Rep. Zachary Mako, R-Slatington, cited his experience as a helicopter pilot with the Pennsylvania National Guard, saying he has flown countless missions out of Fort Indiantown Gap, also known as “the Gap”.

Many people may be aware that the Gap serves as headquarters for the National Guard, he said, but it is perhaps less well known that it serves as a training facility for all branches of our nation’s armed forces, as well as law enforcement and homeland defense professionals.

WASHINGTON — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Thursday she would step down from her historic run as leader of the Democratic Party but will continue to represent San Francisco in Congress.

Her announcement came in the wake of Democrats narrowly losing control of the House to Republicans in the midterm elections.

"I will not seek reelection to Democratic leadership in the next Congress," Pelosi said. "For me, the hour has come for a new generation to lead the Democratic caucus that I so deeply respect."

Pelosi's decision to either seek another term as the Democratic leader or to step aside has been widely anticipated. Her speech was interrupted several times as she stood among her colleagues in what she termed "the people's house."

"Now we most move boldly into the future," Pelosi said.

The 82-year-old Pelosi recapped her career, from seeing the Capitol the first time as a young girl with her father, a former congressman and mayor.

"I believe then as I believe today its (the Capitol) is the most beautiful building in the worldfor what it stands for," Pelosi said. "The Capitol is a temple of our democracy, of our Constitution, of our highest ideals."

She told her colleagues she never dreamed of going from "homemaker to House Speaker." Noticeably absent was Republican House leader Kevin McCarthy.

"When I first came to the floor at six years old, never would I have thought that someday I would go from homemaker to House Speaker," she said.

Bioprinting personalized tissues and organs within the body: A breakthrough in regenerative medicine

In situ bioprinting, which involves 3D printing biocompatible structures and tissues directly within the body, has seen steady progress over the past few years. In a recent study, a team of researchers developed a handheld bioprinter that addresses key limitations of previous designs, i.e., the ability to print multiple materials and control the physicochemical properties of printed tissues. This device will pave the way for a wide variety of applications in regenerative medicine, drug development and testing, and custom orthotics and prosthetics.

he emergence of regenerative medicine has resulted in substantial improvements in the lives of patients worldwide through the replacement, repair, or regeneration of damaged tissues and organs. It is a promising solution to challenges such as the lack of organ donors or transplantation-associated risks. One of the major advancements in regenerative medicine is on-site (or "in situ") bioprinting, an extension of 3D printing technology, which is used to directly synthesize tissues and organs within the human body. It shows great potential in facilitating the repair and regeneration of defective tissues and organs.

Although significant progress has been made in this field, currently used in situ bioprinting technologies are not devoid of limitations. For instance, certain devices are only compatible with specific types of bioink, while others can only create small patches of tissue at a time. Moreover, their designs are usually complex, making them unaffordable and restricting their applications.

In a breakthrough study published in Biofabrication, a research team including Mr. Erik Pagan and Associate Professor Mohsen Akbari from the University of Victoria in Canada, developed a handheld in situ bioprinter with a convenient modular design, that allows the printing of complex biocompatible structures.

"Two decades ago, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, which eventually led to the removal of her breast. This affected her well-being considerably. It made me realize that a technology like handheld bioprinting could not only help develop personalized implants for breast reconstruction that match the shape and size of the patient's tissue, but also be used to create tumor models for the study of breast cancer biology. Such applications could significantly improve treatment outcomes for affected patients," says Prof. Akbari while discussing his motivation underlying this study.

A key feature of the handheld device is the presence of multiple bioink cartridges, each independently controlled by a pneumatic system. Owing to this, the device operator has ample control over the printing mixture, making it easier to develop structures with the required properties. Moreover, the device has a cooling module and a light emitting diode photocuring module, which provide additional control.

This versatile in situ bioprinter has several applications. Prof. Akbari elaborates, "In situ bioprinting is suitable for repairing large defects caused by trauma, surgery, or cancer, which requires large-scale tissue constructs. In the long term, this technology can eliminate the need for organ donors, while also lowering the risks associated with transplantation, allowing patients to enjoy longer and healthier lives."

Another notable potential application of this device is the production of drug delivery systems. An operator could construct scaffolds or structures that release a precise quantity of drugs as well as cells at specific locations within the body. This would make drugs more efficient, minimize side effects associated with them, and improve their safety. The technology reported in this paper may also speed up the discovery of new drugs by allowing scientists to develop more accurate drug testing models.

What's more, it has the potential to develop custom prosthetics and orthopedic implants. Due to its portable nature, this bioprinter may help physicians match a patient's tissue anatomy with greater accuracy and convenience, thus enhancing the functionality and aesthetic of the bioprinted construct.

The findings of this study can significantly benefit researchers and physicians dedicated to improving the scope of regenerative medicine and enable collaborative research, which can accelerate further development of this technology.

Even after ending his political affiliation with the Republican Party, L Brands CEO Les Wexner continues to donate to politicians across the country – and across party lines.

In September 2018, the longtime Republican donor made national headlines by announcing he had quit the party.Since then, Wexner has cut the level of his political contributions, according to data from the Federal Elections Commission.

But that doesn't mean he's stopped the flow of cash entirely.

An analysis of Wexner's $922,300 in state and federal giving over the past three years shows a sharp decline in overall contributions in the past year, along with a broadening of recipients to include more Democrats. A Wexner spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment on his donation history.

This dataset excludes contributions by Abigail Wexner, who primarily contributes to Democrats, but in smaller amounts.

Federal contributions

On the federal level, Les Wexner donated $16,200 over the course of 2019, according to FEC data, compared to $95,900 in 2018 and $557,700 in 2017.

Last year, $5,000 went to the Support to Ensure Victory Everywhere PAC – commonly called the STEVE PAC – a benefactor mostly to Republicans and whose recipients last year included Ohioans Troy Balderson, Steve Chabot, Mike Turner, Warren Davidson, Jim Renacci, Brad Wenstrup, Bill Johnston, David Joyce, Bob Gibbs and Anthony Gonzalez, according to an analysis from the Center For Responsive Politics. The group does support a small number of Democrats.

In September, Wexner contributed $2,800 to Sen. Rob Portman, an Ohio Republican.

The retail magnate also made donations to two Democratic lawmakers, including $2,800 to Columbus Democrat Rep. Joyce Beatty. In April, he gave $5,600 to the U.S. Senate campaign of Colorado State Sen. Mike Johnston, who went on to end his bid for U.S. Senate in September.

In 2018, Wexner’s contributions included $33,900 to the National Republican Congressional Committee, $33,900 to then House Speaker Paul Ryan and gifts to Portman, Balderson and Gonzalez, as well as the STEVE PAC.

He did donate $2,700 to Beatty in 2018, after his September decision to leave the Republican party. That was his first donation to a Democrat in five years.

Wexner also donated to the L Brands PAC and the New Albany PAC in 2018, both of which support Ohio House members from both parties.

In 2017, Wexner’s donations included $237,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee and $300,000 to With Honor, a “cross-partisan” group that backs veteran candidates.

Wexner’s 2016 political giving topped $440,000, including $250,000 to the presidential campaign of former Gov. John Kasich and big donations to Ryan, the National Republican Congressional Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

M15: Dense Globular Star Cluster

Messier 15 is an immense swarm of over 100,000 stars. A 13 billion year old relic of the early formative years of our galaxy it's one of about 170 globular star clusters that still roam the halo of the Milky Way. Centered in this sharp reprocessed Hubble image, M15 lies some 35,000 light-years away toward the constellation Pegasus. Its diameter is about 200 light-years, but more than half its stars are packed into the central 10 light-years or so, making one of the densest concentrations of stars known. Hubble-based measurements of the increasing velocities of M15's central stars are evidence that a massive black hole resides at the center of the dense cluster. M15 is also known to harbour a planetary nebula. Called Pease 1 (aka PN Ps 1), it can be seen in this image as a small blue blob below and just right of center.

The marriage of U.S. Rep. Mike Turner, R-Dayton, and Lori Turner was dissolved on Wednesday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Domestic Relations Judge Timothy D. Wood granted the March 29 petition for dissolution filed by Lori Turner, who is vice president of marketing for the Kettering Health Network. The Turners, married since 1987 and parents of two grown daughters, agreed in advance on division of property and assets, including three Cadillacs and a Toyota Prius.

Rep. Turner will retain a Washington, D.C. residence and Lori Turner will retain their Centerville house. Neither will pay spousal support and they will share responsibility for their daughters’ college educations.

The settlement agreement stipulates that “due to the public nature of this case” neither of them will talk to the press about the case. On Wednesday Rep. Turner declined comment through his spokesman, Tom Crosson, and Lori Turner could not be reached.

Late last year Rep. Turner’s office issued a press release saying the two had separated and that he would be moving to a Performance Place condo in the Schuster Center in downtown Dayton. Rep. Turner, who was mayor of Dayton prior to being elected to Congress in 2002, rents the condo, Crosson said.

Poll: Support for Black Lives Matter Movement Lowest Since 2020

American support for the Black Lives Matter movement has reached its lowest point since 2020, according to a poll released Wednesday.

The Pew Research Center survey found about 51 percent of U.S. adults support the Black Lives Matter movement, a full six-point drop from last year when 56 percent supported it. Per The Hill:

Two-thirds of U.S. adults said they supported the movement following Floyd’s death in 2020, according to a Pew analysis of the 5,073-person survey.

Opinions on the movement vary by race, age and political leaning.

Black adults are the most likely to back the movement. According to the survey, 81 percent of Black adults in the U.S. support the Black Lives Matter movement, while 63 percent of Asian adults, 61 percent of Hispanic adults and 42 percent of white adults support it.

Younger adults were more likely to support the movement while white adults were more likely to find the movement “divisive” or “dangerous.”

Roughly 64 percent between the ages of 18 to 29 support the movement while just 52 percent of 30 to 49-year-olds support it. The number goes down to 46 percent among 50 to 64-year-olds and down to its lowest of 41 percent for seniors 65 and older.

Support for the movement also breaks down along party lines, with Democrats being more in favor of it.

As Breitbart News reported, Black Lives Matter “had an $8.5 million deficit, and its investment accounts lost nearly $10 million in value, according to 2022 tax records.”

“The non-profit has blown through 2 ⁄ 3 of $90 million raised since the summer of 2020 following the death of George Floyd,” said the report. “The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation’s (BLMGNF) most recent filing of Form 990 paints a grim picture of BLMGNF’s financial health, indicating a trajectory toward financial insolvency. In 2022, the charity logged a $961,000 loss on a security sale of $172,000.”

In May of last year, Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors admitted to using the group’s $6 million property to host private parties after she had previously resigned from the organization amid scrutiny over her spending of charitable funds. As Breitbart News reported at the time:

One of those events took place in January 2021, where she apparently sought “refuge at the property amid threats on her life.” However, at that time, she chose to host an inauguration party celebrating the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, along with roughly 15 people, “including BLM Los Angeles chapter members and other prominent movement supporters,” according to the AP.

Two months later, Cullors threw her son a birthday party at the BLM property, but she told the outlet “she intended to pay a rental fee to the foundation.”

Tax documents filed with the IRS also showed that Cullors would spend lavish funds for her brother and child’s father to perform various services.

KYIV, Ukraine — The head of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee said Monday that there is “overwhelming” support in the United States to continue supplying aid to Ukraine in its fight against Russia, despite vocal opposition from a hard-right faction of his own Republican Party.

Rep. Michael Turner of Ohio, the Republican chairman of the committee, which serves as the House’s main body for overseeing American intelligence organizations, spoke alongside three other GOP congressmen during a brief visit to Kyiv.

“There are those on the left and on the right who question continued support or the amount of support. That will certainly be part of the debate,” Turner said. “But overwhelmingly, there is support for continuing aid to Ukraine, so that they can continue to fight against this aggression of Russia.”

The trip to the Ukrainian capital was the latest effort fromtop-ranking Republicans in the House, who are laying the groundwork for continued U.S. assistance but facing opposition in their own ranks. Emboldened by former President Donald Trump’s “America First” approach, many on the right are clamoring for the Ukraine aid to come to an end, creating the potential for a politically bruising fight when the current American assistance runs out.

For instance,Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a likely Trump rival for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, recently suggested that defending Ukraine in a “territorial dispute” with Russia..

With the war in Ukraine now entering its second year,Rep. Chris Stewart of Utahsaid the American people would continue supporting aid as long as U.S. resources were being used judiciously.

“This is going to take some time,” he said of the war. “That’s not surprising. Most conflicts such as this between nation-states take time to resolve themselves. I think the American people understand that, as long as they feel like progress is being made over being careful with the money and being thoughtful of how we involve U.S. resources.”

“Most of them have not done that except for a few of the smaller countries,” Stewart said. “The American people also look at this and go, ‘This is in Europe’s backyard. They should be at least as invested in this as we are.’ And I don’t know that we can assure them right now that that’s the case.”

Rep. Rich McCormick of Georgianoted that nations have rallied to Ukraine’s support.

“For the first time, maybe ever, countries were talking about putting pressure on each other and holding each other accountable inside of NATO,” said the congressman, who is a member of the House Armed Services Committee. “There is a new sort of urgency that never existed before, that I think you’re seeing Europe actually step up to the plate like they’ve never done before.”

The fourth member of the delegation to Kyiv, Rep. Darin LaHood of Illinois, another member of the intelligence committee, said the visit to Ukraine was aimed at observing the situation on the ground from “the illegal, unprovoked war that Putin engaged in here.”

U.S. lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are making a renewed push for the Biden administration to send Ukraine controversial long-range munitions, as Kyiv’s long-expected counteroffensive appears to get underway.

With a range of 190 miles, nearly four times that of Ukraine’s existing rockets, the Army Tactical Missile System has been the subject of intense debate for months. Nearly a year ago, national security adviser Jake Sullivan feared that sending ATACMS could make the conflict eventually spiral into World War III, because Ukraine could use the weapon to attack deep inside Russian territory. More recently, there are growing concerns inside the Pentagon that the U.S. doesn’t have many to spare anyway.

But in recent weeks, the administration’s opposition to sending the munitions is showing signs of weakening. President Joe Biden himself recently signaled he might be open to sending ATACMS. Asked whether Washington might agree to provide the missiles, the president said in late May that option is “still in play.” A White House spokesperson later said the administration’s policy has not changed.

Now, a group of House members led byRep. Jason Crow (D-Colo.)is turning up the pressure. In a letter to Biden on Thursday,nine Republican and Democraticlawmakers urged the president to quickly greenlight ATACMS.

“The war in Ukraine has become a conflict of grinding attrition. We can and must help break this stalemate. By swiftly providing the Ukrainian forces with these additional capabilities, we can significantly improve their chances of victory, restore peace to Europe, and ensure a more stable and prosperous world,” the lawmakers wrote.

Advocates of sending ATACMS say that because they are fired from High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems already sent to Ukraine, they don’t require extensive training and or logistical chains, and could be fielded immediately.

The letter alsocalls on the president to approve other advanced weaponry, including U.S.-made F-16 fighter jetsand additional air defense capabilities such as another Patriot missile defense system. It also urges him to expedite the transfer of U.S. M1 Abrams tanks, which are expected to arrive in Ukraine by the end of the year.

U.S. officials have become less concerned that sending more advanced weaponry might escalate the conflict, as Ukraine proved repeatedly that it would not use U.S. equipment to strike into Russian territory, Crow said in an interview. (Crow is an idiot to trust Ukraine, because the “lie & bribe” as policy)

The reluctance to send ATACMS now stems more from Pentagon fears that the U.S. has a limited number of missiles in its stockpiles, he acknowledged. But Crow’s counterargument is that it’s worth the short-term risk of sending ATACMS in order to help Ukraine win the war. The Pentagon’s long-term plan is to transition away from ATACMS to more advanced missiles in the pipeline anyway, he said.

“I think it’s an acceptable risk to transfer those out of our inventory, send them to Ukraine to help Ukraine fight this war while we transition to our next generation of long range fires,” Crow said. “My view is this is the war that the Ukrainians have to fight now with substantial national security implications for us and our allies.”

Kyiv itself is also making a new push for ATACMS. Ukrainian military officers toldHouse Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Mike McCaul(R-Texas)in a recent teleconference that they need the weapons to prosecute their counteroffensive against Russia’s invasion force and to cut off Russian access to Crimea, he said. McCaul did not sign the letter as it was open only to members of the For Country Caucus.

Enabling Kyiv’s battlefield successes would also buoy public opinion in the U.S. in favor of more Ukraine military aid money, when Biden asks Congress in the fall for a new supplemental, McCaul noted. (This warmonger is fucking crazy)

Republican and Democratic House members also urged Biden in a letter last month to send ATACMS to Ukraine, following their visit to Kyiv.The lawmakers — Reps. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) and Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.)— acknowledged administration concerns that the weapons are in short supply but suggested Washington could overcome the issue by creating a pool of missiles with a coalition of international allies.

Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky wasn’t far from the mark when he said it would take 10 years to unravel the complex payment path that led to Joe Biden.

The Bidens allegedly “coerced” a foreign national to pay them $10 million in bribes, according to individuals familiar with the investigation into the FBI’s handling of the FD-1023 confidential human source report. What, if anything, agents did to investigate these explosive claims remains unknown, however, with sources telling The Federalist the FBI continues to stonewall.

On Monday, Sen. Chuck Grassley revealed a foreign national — identified by individuals with knowledge of the matter as Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky — allegedly possessed 17 recordings implicating the Bidens in a pay-to-play scandal. While 15 of the audio recordings consisted of phone calls between Zlochevsky and Hunter Biden, two were of calls the Ukrainian had with then-Vice President Joe Biden, according to the FD-1023.

The Federalist has now learned the FD-1023 reported the CHS saying the Bidens “coerced” Zlochevsky to pay the bribes. Sources familiar with the investigation also explained the context of Zlochevsky’s statements, and that context further bolsters the CHS’s reporting.

In the FD-1023 from June 30, 2020, the confidential human source summarized earlier meetings he had with Zlochevsky. According to the CHS, in the 2015-2016 timeframe, the CHS, who was providing advice to Zlochevsky, told the Burisma owner to stay away from the Bidens. Then, after Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential contest, the CHS asked Zlochevsky if he was upset Trump won.

Zlochevsky allegedly told the CHS he was dismayed by Trump’s victory, fearing an investigation would reveal his payments to the Biden family, which included a $5 million payment to Hunter Biden and a $5 million payment to Joe Biden. According to the CHS, the Burisma executive bemoaned the situation, claiming the Bidens had “coerced” him into paying the bribes.

The CHS responded that he hoped Zlochevsky had taken precautions to protect himself. Zlochevsky then allegedly detailed the steps he had taken to avoid detection, stressing he had never paid the “Big Guy” directly and that it would take some 10 years to unravel the various money trails. It was only then that Zlochevsky mentioned the audio recordings he had made of the conversations he had with Hunter and Joe Biden, according to the CHS.

The broader context of this conversation adds to the plausibility of Zlochevsky’s claims that he possessed recordings implicating the Bidens. And we already know from Grassley and House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer that the FBI considered the CHS, who relayed Zlochevsky’s claims to the FBI, a “highly credible” source.

Walt Nauta is a 10-year-Navy veteran and served as an aide to former President Trump both in and out of office.

Special Counsel Jack Smith has now indicted him for allegedly “making false statements in interviews with the FBI.” The indictment’s subtext is that Nauta refused to cooperate with, and turn state’s evidence to, the special counsel in its efforts to convict the former president.

But why stop the indictments with a man who loyally served and followed the orders of the former president of the United States, was a Navy veteran, and a hard-working immigrant from Guam?

Are there not far bigger fish to fry to remind Americans that justice is blind?

After all, when Special Counsel Smith announced his indictments of Trump, he lectured America on the rule of law and the cherished notion that no one is above it.

So let us start with the former interim director of the FBI itself, Andrew McCabe.

McCabe admittedly lied four times about his illegally leaking sensitive information to witnesses and mishandling classified information.

Have those crimes suddenly ceased being felonies?

Or is it now the policy of the United States government that an FBI director can lie with impunity, and leak, and mishandle sensitive classified information?

Yet Walt Nauta may be sent to prison while McCabe will continue to earn a fine salary at CNN as a paid “expert” to deplore . . . what exactly?

What McCabe knows best from his own experience with the deed—the “mishandling of classified information”?

Victor Davis Hanson on Thursday talked about his new column on the left's full-fledged fight against traditional values in an interview on 'Hannity.'

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: I don't know exactly but I think they feel if they are correct, then they get a pass on every type of behavior. And that behavior leads to the destruction of institutions and that's not necessarily a bad thing because they feel America was flawed in its origin.

Here in California, we are facing $32 billion in debt. Why would a commission on reparations say we're going to give $800 billion dollars why not a trillion? to African-Americans when we were a free state. That was 8 generations ago. Then when confronted with the realities, the commission said we're willing to take it in installments.

I was just reading about the tragic death on the subway and I thought, wow, this guy looks like a career criminal that was killed. I thought maybe he had arrests of 5 or 7. How does somebody in the criminal justice system have an arrest record of 40 arrests including violent assault, and lewd conduct? And then his uncle weighed in. And I thought, wow, he's weighing in support of his deceased nephew, maybe he has a criminal record. He's been arrested 70 times. What kind of criminal justice system, I guess just ideologically, just excuses felony behavior 70 times?

We look at the border. I thought, wow, it might be porous. We might, under the Biden administration, have 200,000 illegal entries. But they just blew it up. It doesn't exist. We can't even imagine 6.5 million illegal entries. Greater Los Angeles has probably the largest city in North America for people of Mexican-American or Central-American or Hispanic heritage. The majority are Catholic. Most are still observant. Baseball and soccer are the national pastimes in Spanish-speaking communities. Why would the Los Angeles Dodgers, who depend on this constituency at a time when audiences for professional sports are in decline – why would they invite the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence when their stock and create is performance art, blasphemy, simulated sex, pornography attacks on the trinity of the Catholic faith.

What makes them do that? Are they hiring people out of MVA programs that are woke or don't care?

The general theme of all of these instances is that certain people feel they can take it to the ultimate level to insult traditional America and there are no consequences whether Target or Disney or Bud Light. You talked about the FBI. I thought maybe an FBI Director would fib once but how did Andrew McCabe lie 4 times? 3 times under oath. Or James Clapper lied about the NSA under oath and just laughed it off as the least untruthful answer. Or John Brennan lied twice under oath. The CIA Director. James Comey and I thought when he's in there and Devin Nunes and people are interviewing him he might claim amnesia 10 times. But 245 times?

The victim of an anti-Jewish mob assault in Manhattan has spoken out slamming the plea deal that allowed one of his attackers off with just 18 months behind bars. Joseph Borgen, 31, was brutally beaten by a group of pro-Palestinian demonstrators in May 2021, as he made his way to a pro-Israel rally in Times Square while wearing a kippah. ‘Extraordinarily’ Well Preserved 3,000-Year-Old Sword Unearthed in Germany

Archaeologists have hailed the discovery of an “extraordinary” bronze sword found at a burial site in Bavaria, the weapon incredibly well preserved by the fine soil of the area.

A sword of the 14th century B.C. “Middle Bronze Age” — making the weapon over 3,000 years old — has been unearthed in a state of “extraordinary” preservation. According to a statement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Protection who investigated the “very rare” find, the two-and-a-half-foot-long sword does not have signs of use but appears to have been made for practical rather than ceremonial purposes and is balanced fore-heavy to suggest it was meant for a slashing type of attack.

According to the body, the octagonal form of the sword’s hilt is typical to historical southern Germany, where it was found. Such swords are also found in the north, but it is claimed these were either imports from “wandering craftsmen” who carried their art with them, or copies of the design made locally. Swords were of an advanced type, as noted by the Monuments office: “The production of octagonal swords is complex because the handle is cast over the blade (so-called overlay casting). The decoration is made with an inlay and using hallmarks.”

Other goods were found in the grave containing a man, a woman, and a child, and an image of the sword still embedded in the mud clearly shows other items including two bronze arrowheads with prominent backwards-facing barbs, designed to make pulling the arrow from flesh difficult and destructive.

The items are in such a good state — the state office says the sword “is so exceptionally well preserved that it almost still shines” — because of the local soil, reports Augsburger Allgemeine. Because the soil has an extremely fine sediment, the sword was tightly packed underground thereby excluding oxygen from reacting with the metal, similar to how objects of extraordinary antiquity can be found well preserved in ancient bogs.

A bog find was declared in the United Kingdom last week, when a man laying foundations on his land discovered what is believed to be the oldest-yet-found piece of carved wood in Britain ever. The panel is believed to be over 6,000 years old.

Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) and his estranged wife have settled their acrimonious divorce case, meaning that fellow GOP Rep. Darrell Issa won’t be deposed in the case.

Turner and his wife, Majida Mourad, have been locked in an ugly divorce fight since last May. The couple were married in Dec. 2015. Turner has been seeking hundreds of thousands of dollars from Mourad — a wealthy lobbyist and former congressional aide — as part of a divorce settlement.

POLITICO reported last month that Turner handed Issa a letter from Turner’s attorneys stating they would like to depose the California Republican as part of the case. There had been speculation for months on Capitol Hill about Issa’s alleged role in the breakup of Turner’s marriage, but Issa denied any romantic relationship with Mourad.

“Majida Mourad and Congressman Michael Turner have come to a resolution of all matters between them, and wish each other the best in their future endeavors,” said a statement from lawyers for both sides. “Neither party will have any further comment and asks that their privacy in this matter be respected.”

No financial arrangements were disclosed by the attorneys.

The settlement ends what could have been an embarrassing situation for both lawmakers as well as House Republicans.

Issa insisted he had done nothing wrong and had never been involved with Mourad. Issa said the two have been friends for years and share Lebanese-American heritage.

“As far as I know she’s been completely faithful to her husband and you know, certainly I would have nothing to do with anything there,” Issa told ABC News. “She’s made the same denial, and now I understand that he’s not claiming that. In Ohio, you can claim infidelity. He didn’t.”

This class of materials, known as transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), contains thousands of potential combinations, each of which requires a weeks'-long reaction to grow flakes of material the size of glitter.

Making the material is only the first step in understanding what it can do. As PNNL computational scientist Micah Prange said, each flake is "really small, really delicate," and quantum features will only emerge when studied at super-low temperatures. Essentially, "a whole research program could go into each flake."

Despite the difficulty of creating and measuring them, each combination holds promise to dramatically improve electronics, batteries, pollution remediation, and quantum computing devices.

]Prange said you can think of the flakes as "fancier graphene with a richer phenomenology and more practical possibilities." Tough, light, and flexible, graphene has been known as the material of the future, with uses in everything from aerospace to wearable electronics.

The recent practice and tradition of regarding it as such would have horrified our Founders. It has shielded DOJ from all democratic accountability, placing the most fearsome powers of government in the hands of an unelected security state and deep state.

Article II is unequivocal that all executive power is placed in the hands of the executive (the President), the one office elected by the whole American people.

It is constitutionally impermissible, and deeply antidemocratic, to wall off the law enforcement power from the nation’s Chief law enforcement official and only elected governing authority in the executive branch (the POTUS).

Every bit of power removed from a president and transferred to a deep state is power transferred away from the American voter and to a permanent life-tenured bureaucracy shielded from all accountability.

This arrangement is desirable for the New Left, as they know a weaponized, partisanized deep state will persecute their political opposition with unrestrained glee.

But the only way to reform DOJ, and to restore justice to America, is to reassert the unitary executive and a true rendering of Article II under a reformist, nationalist, populist Administration.

AUSTIN, Texas — A Mexican national is on the run after slaughtering a family of five Hondurans next door, including an 8-year-old child, in a small Texas town a two-hour drive east from here called Cleveland.

American news media report the murdered parents had asked their next-door neighbor to stop firing his semi-automatic rifle at 11 p.m. on April 29 because they were trying to put a baby to sleep. Two other children survived under the bodies of their parents, who died shielding them.

But what no media has yet reported is that this horrific crime happened in what is regarded as America’s largest settlement of illegal immigrants, one literally exploding in population amid a U.S.-government fomented mass migration border crisis. In Liberty County, and now spreading into neighboring San Jacinto County where the massacre occurred, old-timers have been fleeing a new diversity of violent crime, murder, all-night weapons firing, and cartel drug trafficking that has boomed alongside the population. Indifferent U.S. immigration enforcement agencies leave this area to itself.

My recently released book, Overrun: How Joe Biden Unleashed the Greatest Border Crisis in U.S. History, dedicates a chapter of reporting to this massive illegal immigrant “colonia” as a warning to America about the coming consequences of an unfettered mass migration event now in its third unmitigated year that has already seen more than five million foreign nationals settle into U.S. towns and cities. Following are edited excerpts from the chapter “Forever Impacts”.

“The originals” of Liberty County, Texas — the self-descriptor of lifelong Anglo residents like Jimmy Rollins, who trace their lineage to early settler families — have mostly fled what they regard as ruinous, irredeemable change.

Settlement in the county wilderness some 40 miles northeast of Houston dates to the 1830s and 1840s and boomed a bit when an oil field was discovered there in 1925, but still didn’t much change the cherished small-town closeness, long lonely country lanes through uninterrupted timberland, the hunting and fishing subsistence lifestyle, and tiny high school graduating classes.

Until very recently, the loggers, train mechanics, ranchers, and state prison workers made their homes in and around Liberty County’s quaint old townships carved out of dense pine forests with names like Plum Grove, Cleveland, Dayton, and Splendora. They raised each other’s barns and dug one another’s wells.

Now 72, Jimmy Rollins was still farming near Dayton when I met him in May 2022. Just like his father, who was born and lived until he was buried at age 95 in Plum Grove, Rollins recalled riding a horse every Sunday to church and to school as a kid, “barefoot until junior high”, and he raised his own family much the same way, by farming and following a rural country code of life.

A vast jumble of single- and double-wide trailers on low stilts, hand-hewn shacks made of leftover construction material, and parked motor homes has quickly overtaken tens of thousands of Liberty County acres and eradicated its rural way of life. The community is named “Colony Ridge”. Upwards of 50,000 mostly Spanish-speaking Latinos, maybe more — nobody knows, really — are living on some 30,000 homestead lots they purchased in recent years over some 35 square miles from “Houston Terrenos”, the land development company started by an “original” named William Henry “Trey” and his brother John Harris a decade earlier.

The boom began without letup about a decade ago when Houston Terrenos, on Spanish-language media platforms with international reach, began marketing lot purchases with its unique “owner-to-owner method” that didn’t require traditional bank loans, proven job history, or Social Security numbers.

A significant portion of the new population that bought Terrenos lots are illegally present, according to the settlers themselves, local police, school officials, teachers, and other residents. In 2020, analyst Chuck DeVore of the Austin-based Texas Public Policy Foundation think tank dubbed Colony Ridge “the fastest-growing Hispanic population in the United States and one of the fastest growing school districts”. DeVore figured the population of these communities is projected to reach as high as a quarter-million people, a significant percentage not legally present in the country.

Liberty County and its booming Colony Ridge development make for an apt, emblematic harbinger of the kind of change that sudden explosive growth in illegal alien population can portend for citizens and residents already living in receiving communities as a result of the Biden border crisis.

Quality of Life in Liberty County

As a former Plum Grove mayor, city councilwoman, apartment real estate developer, and proud original, Leanne Walker has waged an unremitting legal and political “war” to contain the ongoing Terrenos Houston development. She refers to this enemy as “the Kraken”, a multi-armed Octopus-like sea monster of Scandinavian sailing mythology that would drag ships to the bottom.

“I was born and raised by the forest, by the most salt-of-the-Earth people you could meet, by an original,” she told me. “My father was an original. His mother was an original. We’re all on the same land. We are called the originals of Plum Grove.”

Walker’s grievances and stories of battle with “the Kraken” are far too long to recount here, such as whether the rapid pace of development floods the towns during hard rains and allegedly poisoned rivers and the Gulf of Mexico with raw human waste.

But almost as offensive to the originals than the clear-cutting, traffic jams, and floods they blame on the ever-sprawling Colony Ridge is that the newcomers make for bad neighbors.

“The amount of gunfire that is out there would blow your mind. I have a video you can listen to on New Year’s Eve. It sounded like Falluja,” Walker recounted, moving on to, “The loud Mexican music they play from Thursday night to Sunday. They all put their music on the same f***ing station and turn it up. Our homes at one o’clock in the morning doing this ...,” Walker said, using her hand to thump the table like a drum. “And that’s why the originals all left.”

A Frightening New Diversity of Crime

Before all the change, crime mostly consisted of a few white country meth-heads, two local police investigators who work in the area told me privately.

But now the crime is so different in the view of local old-timers like Rollins and Walker that they welcomed news that their grown children would flee Liberty County.

The Rollins’ two grown children sold out in 2020 and fled with their own young families as part of an exodus of originals chasing the quiet to just about anywhere else “because of the traffic, the people, the shooting, the wrecks, and the thieving”, Rollins said.

“They got scared,” he said of the kids. “They wasn’t raised in all that.”

In June 2022, a Liberty County dog brought home a human hand, which led to the discovery of a badly decomposed body of a man who had been buried with his gun. Police couldn’t identify the corpse and were left to post photos of the clothing in hopes someone would recognize them.

In September 2022, passersby in Colony Ridge found the body of a 16-year-old Honduran girl who’d been shot to death and dumped in a ditch by the side of a road, still wearing her uniform from her work bussing tables at a local restaurant. Gang unit police arrested three foreign nationals, all under 21, and charged them with the murder of Emily Rodriguez-Avila, citing “gang overtones” as a motive. The family shipped her body back to Honduras for burial.

Some crime has proven especially twisted relative to the area’s past.

In 2020, for instance, an illegal alien from Mexico who settled in Colony Ridge chained two house cleaners to a bed and sexually assaulted them in a blackmail scheme during which he took nude photos. The nightmare ended when one of the women attempted an escape in her vehicle but didn’t make it; her assailant managed to shoot her to death and set her car on fire with her inside before fleeing back to Mexico. Border Patrol caught him trying to cross again in California a short time later.

In 2016, owners of a Colony Ridge lot who were clearing it of brush discovered the decomposing remains of a single mother of five children named Esmeralda Pargas-Nunez, 42, who’d been reported missing a month earlier. It took two years, but homicide detectives tracked down her alleged killer to Houston in 2018, another woman named Sabrina Olarosa Garcia, and charged her with murder. This was evidently part of a kidnapping scheme in Houston where the alleged murderer first lured her victim to a meeting.

Mexican Cartels Come to Town

The Gulf and Sinaloa Cartels invested in Colony Ridge from its earliest inception, they said, financing lots for local operatives to run safe houses through which they move smuggled drugs and people from the border to interior America. They were using them still to smuggle people coming in under Biden.

Evidence of cartel involvement dates to the earliest days of the illegal-alien settlement boom. To at least 2013, when federal, state, and local investigators raided a Mexican drug cartel’s marijuana grow operation on 300 acres in Liberty County, finding explosives, 6,000 marijuana plants, worker bunk houses, and guard towers. Local police at the time called it the “largest and most sophisticated marijuana-growing operation” in the county’s history.

In July 2021, the DEA broke that dubious record with the new biggest drug bust in Liberty County history with a raid that broke up a multimillion-dollar methamphetamine manufacturing lab operating inside one of the Colony Ridge dwellings.

During a recent trip, a police investigator drove me around several town neighborhoods pointing out high-end brick homes where cartel management figures lived before they were busted or moved away.

This kind of criminality grew so problematic by 2021 that the fearful town leaders of Plum Grove established a first police department that works in concert with two county-paid bilingual constables that Liberty County funded to exclusively patrol Colony Ridge.

The addition of several police officers amounts to a drop in the ocean, one officer from the region told me. Drive-by shootings, stealing, and drug trafficking are rampant, victimizing mostly the new community.

“It’s a cluster f**k over there and it’s only getting worse,” said the officer, who was not authorized to speak publicly. “It’s its own closed community out there, and the Salvadorans, Ecuadorans, South Americans ... they really clique up.”

Bell is survived by her husband Paul, an anti-police obsessive at the NYU School of Law who blamed Americans for the “harassment of people because of their Arab or Muslim connections” immediately after the 9/11 terror attacks.

Twenty Republicans rode to the rescue of Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California on Wednesday, sending off into limbo a resolution that called for Schiff to be censured and fired.

The resolution was brought by Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida.

“It is the obligation of House Leadership to back up this motion for the American people and hold this feckless man accountable,” Luna said in a statement after introducing the resolution, according to the New York Post. The resolution called for a $16 million fine, amounting to half the cost of the Robert Mueller probe that found there was no evidence of the 2016 Trump campaign colluding with Russia.,

The text of House Resolution 437 noted that Schiff, from his position on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives “abused this trust by citing evidence of collusion that — as is clear from reports by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz, and Special Counsel Durham — does not exist.”

The resolution went down in flames on a 225-196-7 vote that tabled it.

Twenty Republicans voted with Democrats in favor of the motion to table, according to the official roll call. (Because the vote was on tabling the resolution, votes against the motion were votes to support the resolution and censure Schiff.)

Republicans who voted to table the motion were: Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota; Lori Chavez-DeRemer of Oregon; Juan Ciscomani of Arizona; Tom Cole of Oklahoma; Warren Davidson and Mike Turner of Ohio; Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania; Kay Granger of Texas; Garret Graves of Louisiana; Thomas Kean Jr. of New Jersey; Kevin Kiley, Young Kim, Tom McClintock, Jay Obernolte and David Valadao of California; Mike Lawler and Mark Molinaro of New York; Thomas Massie of Kentucky; Mike Simpson of Idaho; and Steve Womack of Arkansas.

Five other Republicans also did not oppose tabling the resolution. Republican Reps. Neal Dunn of Florida, Tony Gonzales of Texas, and Patrick McHenry of North Carolina were recorded as not voting. Reps. Darrell Issa of California and George Santos of New York voted Present. All Democrats voting supporting tabling the measure.

Schiff said he was “frankly surprised” at the vote.

“And I think it showed a lot of courage for Republican members to stand up to the crazy MAGA folks,” he said, according to The Hill.

“I’m astounded by the vote frankly; it was basically almost one of 10 Republicans voted against this resolution,” Schiff said.

What will the Capitol look like during constructions?

The project will require scaffolding to execute the work. At night the scaffold and building will be lighted to assist workers as they perform their tasks. A scrim will cover the scaffolding to control dust and water spray.

What are the impacts of this project on visitors and staff?

To minimize the disruption to Congressional business, much of the project work will be performed at night, Monday through Saturday. Quiet tasks will be conducted during daytime hours. The windows will be screened to maintain privacy and safety during the project. Most doors will remain open for both entry and exit, while others will be for exiting only.

Steve Bannon interviewed Kurt Olsen, about cybersecurity analyst, J. Alex Halderman, who found flaws in Dominion voting machines and warned about the potential for future attacks. Judge Totenberg sealed the report. According to court documents, Halderman wrote his report after he was given 12 weeks of access to an unused Dominion ICX voting machine. Professor Halderman requested the report to be unsealed to be shared with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), a standalone United States federal agency responsible for our infrastructure, including our voting systems.

The report eventually made it to the CISA and they released an abbreviated report last year. Many believe that this CISA report was released in an effort to mitigate the results from the Halderman Report when it is finally released.

The Halderman Report was finally released this week. The report confirms that votes can be altered in the Dominion voting machines. In fact, the report reveals that the Dominion software can be hacked.

On Thursday VoterGA founder Garland Favorito joined Steve Bannon on The War Room to discuss the findings from the explosive report.

Trump-hating Secretary of State Raffensperger hid this information from the public until now. Why is that?

Garland Favorito: Absolutely. And if anything, he leans far more on the Democrat side than the Republican. But as you said, he’s an independent professor. Certainly has no axe to grind, particularly for Donald Trump or any Republicans…

…It was a titanic fight. People from all over different organizations have requested that this report be released for the security of their own voting systems. The Secretary of State of Louisiana requested that it be released. OAN requested that it would be released for part of their lawsuit. I think Fox News as well, because Dominion is suing them. It’s critical information, but it’s critical to the security of elections in the country because you could do Dr. Halderman could have done the same thing to a different vendor as well.

US Pressures Israel to Decrease Ties with China

Washington is attempting to pressure Tel Aviv into pulling back on its ties and trade with China, according to a report in Voice of America. After the European Union and the United States, the People’s Republic is Israel’s largest trade partner.

The report discusses some developments regarding a series of joint Israeli-Chinese infrastructure projects in Israel, including a recently augmented Chinese operated shipping port in the city of Haifa. Chinese companies were also building parts of the Tel Aviv light rail system until Washington leaned on Tel Aviv to instead favor Israeli and European firms.

Hebrew University’s Yuri Pines told VOA that “China [now] has the best infrastructure in the world. China is able to export its knowledge, its know-how, its engineers, its workers, and Israel has benefited enormously.” Though, the US has pressed Israel over the relationship and Tel Aviv is reportedly curtailing some of its economic agreements with China.

Biden has escalated America’s economic war against Beijing, including by imposing harsh sanctions and attempting to cripple the Chinese semiconductor industry. At the same time, this White House has expanded the Pentagon’s vast military buildup in the Asia-Pacific, eyeing a future war between the world’s two largest economies.

Gedaliah Afterman of Reichman University says “there is growing pressure from the United States on Israel to limit its engagement with China, specifically on infrastructure and technology. And that pressure is starting to yield results.”

Beijing recently pulled off an unprecedented diplomatic feat when it brokered a normalization deal between Riyadh and Tehran. The agreement saw a full restoration of diplomatic ties between the two longtime rivals, as well as plans to expand bilateral cooperation and trade in the future.

Business between China and the Arab world is hitting all-time highs, with the total volume of trade reaching a record $430 billion last year. Saudi Arabia accounts for 25% of that massive figure, with a bilateral trade volume of $106 billion.

Over the weekend, Riyadh and Beijing signed $10 billion worth of deals spanning electric vehicles, renewable energy, agriculture, real estate, technology, metals, healthcare and tourism. Additionally, China has inked a 25-year strategic and economic partnership with Iran worth $400 billion.

According to Al Jazeera, “The [Saudi] kingdom’s officials have said more announcements can be expected, with Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud saying more energy deals would be forthcoming. He also brushed off Western criticism of growing Saudi ties with China, saying the kingdom would prioritize its business interests.”

Pines explained to Voice of America that there has been a shift in the thinking of some Israeli analysts who see China, a significant partner of Iran as well as the Palestinians, as largely benefiting the region with its actions. “It is so rare to have in the Middle East a major country which is really neutral, which It is not engaged in… it’s neither pro-Israeli, nor pro-Iranian, nor pro-Saudi, nor pro-Egyptian. It is just a neutral country interested in economic ties with all parts of this very complicated Middle East equation,” he said. The academic added that Beijing may be the only country in the world capable of brokering a peace deal between Israel and Iran.

Texas Reinstates Election Fraud as a Felony Crime with a Maximum 20-Year Prison Sentence

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a significant bill on Tuesday that intensifies the state’s stance against election fraud.

The new law, known as House Bill 1243, has reinstated election fraud as a serious criminal offense – a felony that carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

Governor Abbott has been clear about his support for the new law. He even took to Twitter to share the news, writing, “I signed a law that makes election fraud a felony in Texas. Voting illegally can lead to a 20-year sentence. Don’t mess with Texas elections.”

According to the Dallas News, election fraud’s classification in Texas has been a roller coaster ride in recent years. Only a few years ago, a Republican-led initiative in the Texas House opted to reduce the penalty for election fraud from a felony to a misdemeanor. This was done in response to rising concerns over the possibility of accidental illegal voting.

However, the tide has turned again as lawmakers have decided to reinstate the felony classification. The bill was passed in the House on April 28, 2023, with a vote of 88-60, and was later approved in the Senate with a 19-11 vote on May 24. The law will officially come into effect on September 1, 2023.

The sponsor of the bill, Representative Cole Hefner, has been vocal about the need for the law. He asserts that its primary goal is to bolster Texans’ confidence in the voting process.

In Hefner’s words, “We must ensure that Texans are confident that the legitimate votes they cast will be counted and are not canceled out by someone who has knowingly or intentionally cast an illegal ballot.”

The Republican Party in Texas has continuously made election fraud a key issue, especially during President Donald Trump’s tenure as party leader. Following the 2020 election, wherein Trump contested the results of widespread fraud, there was an amplified push for comprehensive election laws. This led to the enactment of significant legislation in 2021.

The 2021 law brought several changes to the mail ballot process, including the introduction of new voter ID checks.

In 2019, Texas Secretary of State David Whitley announced a voter fraud alert after 95,000 individuals identified by DPS as non-U.S. citizens have a matching voter registration record in Texas, approximately 58,000 of whom have voted in one or more Texas elections.

And during the 2022 midterm election, more than 16,000 ballots were rejected.

LAS VEGAS—Nine more women are accusing Bill Cosby of sexual assault in a lawsuit that alleges he used his “enormous power, fame and prestige” to victimize them.

A lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court in Nevada alleges that the women were individually drugged and assaulted between approximately 1979 and 1992 in Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe homes, dressing rooms and hotels.

One woman alleges that Cosby, claiming to be her acting mentor, lured her from New York to Nevada, where he drugged her in a hotel room with what he had claimed to be non-alcoholic sparkling cider and then raped her.

The 85-year-old former “Cosby Show” star has now been accused of rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment by more than 60 women. He has denied all allegations involving sex crimes. He was the first celebrity tried and convicted in the #MeToo era—and spent nearly three years at a state prison near Philadelphia before a higher court threw out the conviction and released him in 2021.

Earlier this year, a Los Angeles jury awarded $500,000 to a woman who said Cosby sexually abused her at the Playboy Mansion when she was 16 in 1975.

The Nevada lawsuit came only a few weeks after Gov. Joe Lombardo signed a bill that eliminated a two-year deadline for adults to file sexual abuse cases. Similar suits have followed other “lookback laws” in other states.

One of the plaintiffs, Lise-Lotte Lublin, a Nevada native, had advocated for the change. She had previously alleged that Cosby gave her spiked drinks and raped her at a Las Vegas hotel in 1989.

The Associated Press does not identify people who say they have been sexually assaulted unless they come forward publicly.

“For years I have fought for survivors of sexual assault and today is the first time I will be able to fight for myself,” Lotte-Lublin said in a statement cited by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “With the new law change, I now have the ability to take my assailant Bill Cosby to court. My journey has just begun, but I am grateful for this opportunity to find justice.”

In California, a former Playboy model who alleges Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her and another woman at his home in 1969 sued him on June 1 under a new California law that suspends the statute of limitations on sex abuse claims.

Cosby publicist Andrew Wyatt blasted such laws in a statement Wednesday.

“Mr. Cosby is a Citizen of these United States but these judges and lawmakers are consistently allowing these civil suits to flood their dockets—knowing that these women are not fighting for victims—but for their addiction to massive amounts of media attention and greed,” Wyatt said.

“From this day forward, we will not continue to allow these women to parade various accounts of an alleged allegation against Mr. Cosby anymore without vetting them in the court of public opinion and inside of the courtroom,” Wyatt said.

In the latest suit, the women contend that Cosby “used his enormous power, fame, and prestige, and claimed interest in helping them and/or their careers as a pretense to isolate and sexually assault them.”

While former President Donald Trump was recently indicted on various charges related to his alleged possession of classified documents, there have been few public updates in Special Counsel Robert Hur’s investigation of Joe Biden for similar concerns over mishandling of classified information.

The Justice Department appointed Special Counsel Robert Hur on Jan. 12 to investigate President Biden for his handling and possession of classified documents, some of which date back decades to Biden’s time in the Senate. The documents, discovered from November 2022 to January 2023, have been found at the President’s former office at his D.C. think tank and his garage at his Delaware home.

However, after roughly six months since the investigation began, there have been few updates from Hur or the Justice Department, and reports indicate key steps of the investigation have yet to be undertaken.

“Hur’s investigation of classified documents allegedly found to be improperly in Biden’s possession appears to have all but disappeared,” wrote Jonathan Turley, law professor at George Washington University, in a column Wednesday. “The concern in many minds is that, once again, there may be a stark difference in how the Justice Department pursues Trump versus his opponents.”

Since his appointment, it remains unclear whether Hur has filed for any subpoenas, or requested a statement from Biden, who has said that he is “cooperating fully and completely” with the DOJ investigation. Three people familiar with the matter told NBC News that even with Biden’s apparent cooperation, he still has yet to be interviewed by Hur – despite months of prep time by his aides.

“I think you’re going to find there’s nothing there – I have no regrets,” Biden said to a reporter in January. “I’m following what the lawyers have told me they want me to do, and that’s exactly what we’re doing. There’s no ‘there’ there.”

Turley told Fox News Digital that Hur and the DOJ might be protecting Biden by avoiding an interview entirely.

“Hur can insulate President Biden by avoiding a direct interview or statement from him on these facts,” Turley said to Fox. “It is a crime to lie to federal investigators under 18 U.S.C. 1001. With Trump, the Justice Department was highly aggressive. The public is likely to watch to see if Hur shows the same no-holds-barred attitude of Smith.”

The UK Parliament’s Privileges Committee publishes its report on Boris Johnson, stating it believes he deliberately misled the House over ‘Partygate’, a claim the former PM continues to deny, decrying the “kangaroo court” and “political assassination” against him.

Boris Johnson would be suspended from Parliament for 90 days for misleading members, the House Privileges Committee has ruled, a serious punishment that would be served had former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson not already resigned from Parliament last week. Instead, the Committee recommended Johnson not be allowed to hold a former member’s pass for the House of Commons.

The report stems from comments made by Johnson when he was Prime Minister about gatherings held at his official office and residence in Downing Street in 2020 and 2021. Standing accused of breaking the very Coronavirus lockdown rules he and his government had devised and forced on the British public, Johnson insisted that he had followed all rules and the gatherings had been legal. It was later ruled they had not been, prompting Johnson to stand down as Prime Minister in 2022.

He has maintained since that he did not consciously mislead parliament, and that what he told members were actually honest mistakes.

Since that, Johnson has said that while he initially trusted the processes around the investigations into parties at Downing Street and his comments on them, he claims to have subsequently discovered they are not neutral arbiters of the truth but rather politically motivated. In his response to the report today, Johnson wrote:

It is now many months since people started to warn me about the intentions of the Privileges Committee. They told me that it was a kangaroo court. They told me that it was being driven relentlessly by the political agenda of Harriet Harman, and supplied with skewed legal advice – with the sole political objective of finding me guilty and expelling me from parliament.

They also warned me that most members had already expressed prejudicial views – especially Harriet Harman – in a way that would not be tolerated in a normal legal process… This report is a charade. I was wrong to believe in the Committee or its good faith. The terrible truth is that it is not I who has twisted the truth to suit my purposes. It is Harriet Harman and her Committee.

Harriet Harman is a veteran of the last Labour government and now is the Privileges Committee chair.

Johnson warned the attack, which he has characterised as a “political assassination” against him was a “dreadful day for MPs and for democracy” and opened a precedent for “vendetta” by committees against politicians in future. Johnson accuses the findings of contravening the findings of the police themselves, who cleared Johnson of lawbreaking in their investigation.

While Johnson’s allies have rallied to his cause, others have met with pleasure the report finding that Johnson misled Parliament. The BBC’s analysis has called the findings a “brutal demolition” of Johnson’s defence. In terms of history, their correspondent says: “If you think about the several hundred year history of parliament, there’s nothing like this”.

Grupo Modelo, the Mexican brewer, is owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev, the same parent company of Bud Light.

It’s a milestone in Bud Light’s months-long sales decline since early April, when critics who were angered by the brewer sending a commemorative can to transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney vowed to boycott the brand. Bud Light has also faced backlash from Mulvaney’s fans, who think the brand didn’t do enough to support her.

Dave William, Bump Williams’ vice president of analytics and insights, said Bud Light has been the top-selling U.S. beer since 2001, and it could still retain that crown this year. He noted that Bud Light’s year-to-date market share of 9% is still outpacing Modelo’s, at 8%. And Bud Light’s sales volumes are higher.

But Modelo appears to have the advantage, with its dollar sales increasing by double-digit percentages every week. The launch of a new light beer, Modelo Oro, in May is also boosting awareness of the brand.

Sales in bars and restaurants, which are harder to track, aren’t included in the retail numbers, and Bud Light far outpaced Modelo in those venues prior to April. But David Steinman, the vice president and executive editor of Beer Marketer’s Insights, said Modelo’s bar and restaurant sales have been growing quickly, and it’s believed that Bud Light took an even steeper sales hit in bars and restaurants than in groceries.

Bud Light’s U.S. retail sales were down 24% the week ending June 3, while Modelo Especial sales were up 12%, according to Dave Williams.

Scott Scanlon, an executive vice president at the consulting firm Circana who follows the alcohol market, said Mexican imports like Modelo and Corona have been the biggest bright spots in the otherwise stagnant U.S. beer market for years.

The French politician insisted the peninsula is a settled issue, unrelated to the current Ukraine conflict

Crimea is Russian and that issue has been settled since 2014, French opposition leader Marine Le Pen said on Thursday. There is no point in bringing up the peninsula in any negotiations between Moscow and Kiev to end the current conflict, which should begin as soon as possible, she added.

“Crimea has nothing to do with the Ukraine conflict,” Le Pen told Franceinfo in the course of a morning newscast. “We can quibble about the conditions in which the referendum was organized,but the residents chose to be a part of Russia. That is the position of Nicolas Sarkozy, Valery Giscard d'Estaing, and the position of Marine Le Pen,” the National Rally leader explained, naming two former French presidents.

Le Pen argued that the current fighting was about Donbass and the failure of the Minsk agreements, and that the issue should not be muddled by bringing Crimea into it.The two presenters cut her off,insisting that Crimea is a matter of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and pressed Le Pen whether she would say publicly that Crimea is Russian.

“That’s always been clear. I’ve been saying it for [nearly] ten years and haven’t changed my mind,” the opposition leader replied.

Le Pen testified to her position on Crimea before a parliamentary committee last month,answering accusations from President Emmanuel Macron that she was part of a Russian “foreign influence” campaign. On that occasion as well, she said that Crimea was a historically Russian territory “given away” to Ukraine “at the whim of a dictator,” referring to the 1954 decision by Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev.

Ukraine’s government banned Le Pen from entering the country in 2017, after she said in multiple interviews that the 2014 referendum was legitimate and not an “illegal annexation”by Russia.

Crimeans organized a referendum in March 2014, shortly after the US-backed coup installed a government of Ukrainian nationalists in Kiev. The result showed overwhelming support for rejoining Russia, which Moscow accepted. Meanwhile, the new Ukrainian government violently crushed dissent in Odessa and Kharkov Regions and sent troops against Donetsk and Lugansk, triggering the current conflict.

Le Pen’s National Rally (RN) is the largest opposition party in the French parliament. She ran for president against Macron in 2022, getting enough votes to qualify for the runoff. Though Le Pen lost by a 17-point margin, she is currently polling ahead of the incumbent president.

Israeli surveillance technology is empowering antidemocratic governments to track journalists and human rights activists. Regulation is virtually nonexistent.

Griselda Triana is a Mexican journalist, and human rights activist whose husband, Javier Valdez Cárdenas, was slain by a drug cartel on May 15, 2017, in Culiacán, the capital of Sinaloa state. Valdez was the cofounder of the media outlet Riodoce, which investigated corruption and crime, and wrote about the bloody drug war. He paid the ultimate price — a grenade was thrown into his office in 2009. He had received death threats in the months before his murder, but he bravely continued his groundbreaking work despite the threats.

Ten days after his killing, Triana started receiving unexpected text messages on her mobile phone. She had no idea that they were suspicious until almost one year later, when it was discovered that there had been attempts to infiltrate her phone with the Pegasus system, a phone-hacking tool sold by Israeli surveillance company NSO Group, almost certainly by elements within the Mexican state. ​“Before Javier’s murder I did not know that we were being monitored,” she told me. Javier had never informed her about the possibility of phone hacking, and she presumed that he was taking precautions for his safety. ​“Javier knew about the risks of reporting criminal activities, but even so he was aware that someone had to document the atrocities of criminal organizations,” she said.

The murder of Valdez devastated Triana. ​“He was my husband and father of my two children. I was really shocked because Javier didn’t want to leave Sinaloa even though he knew they [the cartels] could kill him.” I asked her why she thought she had been targeted by Pegasus. She said she believed it was because ​“they thought that by tapping the phones they could get data from various sources of information or listen to calls related to Javier’s crime investigations.” To this day, Triana has never been told by the Mexican state why it spied on her — and there’s been no court case for the man accused of masterminding her husband’s death.

Both the Mexican government and NSO claim that Pegasus is used solely for the purposes of fighting crime and terrorism, but Triana’s case proves that this claim is false. Mexico has been a major testing ground for NSO technology. ​“The problem is that it has been used to spy on people who do not represent a danger to the country,” Triana said.

After Valdez’s death, Triana moved to Mexico City, where she works as a journalist and activist. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The lawyer for former U.S. national security adviser Michael Flynn on Friday labeled as “outrageous” and “false” media reports suggesting his client may have been involved in an alleged plan to seize a Muslim cleric and deliver him to Turkey in exchange for millions of dollars.

The rare statement from lawyer Robert Kelner came after the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was investigating an alleged proposal under which Flynn and his son would receive up to $15 million for seizing Fethullah Gulen from his U.S. home and delivering him to the Turkish government.

The Journal cited people familiar with the investigation.

NBC also reported on Friday about an alleged December 2016 meeting, saying Mueller’s team was investigating whether Flynn met with senior Turkish officials in the weeks before President Donald Trump’s January 2017 inauguration about a possible quid pro quo in which Flynn would be paid to do the bidding of Turkey’s government while in office. NBC cited multiple people familiar with the probe.

“Out of respect for the process of the various investigations regarding the 2016 campaign, we have intentionally avoided responding to every rumor or allegation raised in the media,” Kelner said in an emailed statement.

“But today’s news cycle has brought allegations about General Flynn, ranging from kidnapping to bribery, that are so outrageous and prejudicial that we are making an exception to our usual rule: they are false.”

The Wall Street journal reported that the alleged plan involving Flynn and Turkish officials emerged during Mueller’s wider investigation of possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and any collusion by the Trump campaign.

Flynn was fired by Trump after just 24 days in the job for misleading Vice President Mike Pence about the extent of his conversations with then Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak last year.

Barry Coburn, a lawyer for Flynn’s son, Michael Flynn Jr., declined to comment.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan accuses Gulen of instigating a failed coup in July 2016 and wants him extradited to Turkey to face trial. Gulen has denied any role in the coup.

A spokesman for Mueller’s team declined to comment on the report on Friday.

Flynn is a central figure in Mueller’s investigation because of conversations he had with Kislyak and because he waited until March to retroactively register with the Justice Department as a foreign agent for work he did for a Turkish businessman.

The Journal reported that FBI agents asked at least four people about a December meeting in New York where Flynn and Turkish government representatives discussed removing Gulen, citing people with knowledge of the FBI’s inquiries.

NBC also reported that investigators had questioned witnesses about an alleged December meeting between Flynn and Turkish officials where Gulen was discussed. The group also discussed how to set free a Turkish-Iranian gold trader, Reza Zarrab. Zarrab is in prison in the United States on federal charges that he helped Iran skirt U.S. sanctions, NBC said.

A Reuters report on Oct. 26 said one of Flynn’s business associates, former CIA Director James Woolsey, pitched a $10 million contract to two Turkish businessmen to help discredit Gulen while Woolsey was an adviser to Trump’s election campaign.

Woolsey was a member of Flynn’s firm, the Flynn Intel Group, according to a Justice Department filing by the firm and an archive of the company’s website.

Mueller’s team has also interviewed White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller, the highest-level Trump aide known to have spoken with investigators, CNN reported on Thursday.

People smugglers busted using ‘cloned’ FedEx vehicles to sneak migrants into the US

One of the ‘FedEx’ vans smugglers had decorated to look like the real thing then used to transport illegals into the country.

Smugglers used “cloned” FedEx vehicles in an attempt to bring 26 illegal migrants into El Paso, Texas, US Customs and Border Protection officials said.

The Border Patrol’s Santa Teresa Station Anti-Smuggling Unit received a tip about the plan, with agents and state troopers stopping vehicles, two of which were outfitted to look exactly like typical white FedEx vans.

Officials arrested four smugglers involved in the scheme, as well as apprehending the 26 migrants, who were from Mexico and Guatemala, on June 8.

Border Patrol sources told The Post there is a FedEx facility very close to the border in Santa Teresa, New Mexico — which is part of the El Paso sector and a known pick up area for smugglers and migrants.

“We joked that they [smugglers] were either going to pay a FedEx driver to smuggle migrants or that they were going to clone a truck,” one agent said.

Border Patrol agent Sean Coffey said the tactic isn’t new, but hasn’t been used in recent years.

“We haven’t seen a FedEx vehicle in some time,” he told KTSM. “We do see other types of vehicles used, like construction vehicles, vehicles that they put a sticker on [so] that [it] looks like a company vehicle.”

Coffey condemned the smuggling scheme as a great danger to the lives of the migrants, following recent tragedies where dozens of people have died in the back of poorly ventilated trucks trying to sneak past the border.

“The insides of some of these vehicles can become extremely hot, especially with the large amount of people that are trying to put inside of them,” he said.

Last week, officials rescued 35 migrants from a trailer in Anthony, New Mexico, and last year saw 53 die inside a truck after they were abandoned by smugglers in San Antonio, Texas.

Coffey added the renewed FedEx tactic is likely a result of emboldened smugglers looking to provide migrants with a solution to entering the US, after the end of Title 42.

It comes as the Post has reported cartel-linked smugglers have started create and market their services via well-produced YouTube and Tik Tok videos boasting of their prowess at getting people over the border undetected.

It appears they are succeeding too, as in May Us Border Patrol admitted 530,000 ‘gotaways’ — illegal immigrants known to have entered the country but not been caught — have been recorded since last October.

On June 12, border chief Raoul Ortiz posted an estimated 2,493 gotaways had made their way into the country in the previous three days.

The number of people attempting to enter the country illegally has increased since May 11, when the administration made it harder for migrants to be officially admitted to the US following the end of the pandemic-era Title 42 measure.

Expedition 69 Flight Engineers Woody Hoburg and Steve Bowen of NASA concluded their spacewalk at 2:17 p.m. EDT after 5 hours and 35 minutes.

Hoburg and Bowen completed their major objective to install an IROSA (International Space Station Roll-Out Solar Array) to augment power generation for the 1B power channel on the station’s starboard truss structure.

The new array is 60 feet long by 20 feet wide (18.2 meters by 6 meters) and is shading a little more than half of the original array, which is 112 feet long by 39 feet wide. Each new IROSA produces more than 20 kilowatts of electricity and together enable a 30% increase in power production over the station’s current arrays.

NASA and Boeing have a plan in place for a fourth set of roll-out arrays to further augment the International Space Station’s power supply. These arrays, which would be the seventh and eighth installed on space station, are targeted for delivery to the orbital outpost in 2025.

It was the 265th spacewalk in support of space station assembly, upgrades, and maintenance. The spacewalk marked the second for Hoburg and tenth for Bowen, tying him for the most spacewalks by a U.S. astronaut along with Mike Lopez-Alegria, Bob Behnken, Peggy Whitson, and Chris Cassidy.

Wednesday morning at 7:30 twenty IRS agents showed up at the Highwood Creek gun shop telling the owner of the store that he was under investigation for criminally hiding money. That's what store owner Tom VanHoose told us in an exclusive interview. The gun shop owner says the IRS agents were either carrying handguns or AR-15 rifles, "they're what the libtards call assault rifles," he said. VanHoose believes the 20 agents with guns was an attempt to intimidate.

In all, the agents spent ten hours at the gun shop going through computer records and paper records looking for evidence that might show VanHoose has been hiding money (income) from the IRS. He said the agents were nice but that "still doesn't mean that I didn't feel like I was raped by our government, because I do."

VanHoose says this is not the first time the feds have poked around his business. He says an FBI agent was outside his building a while back taking pictures of his business. He says Homeland security has also been poking around. The gun shop owner feels he may have been targeted because of the type of guns he sells and the fact that he sell silencers.

What about a search warrant? Vanhoose says they would only show him the front page of the search warrant and not the other pages that spelled out exactly what they were looking for. VanHoose says the IRS agents were from Denver, Missoula, Billings and Helena.

We also talked to Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter to ask him about comments from the public yesterday that said he was suppose to be notified ahead of time about the IRS raid. He said there is no law that says he has to be notified. Efforts were made last legislative session to pass such a law but it failed in the house. Slaughter says one of the reasons the public might want him notified is because he is the top elected officer in the county. Great Falls Police were the only ones notified prior to the raid. The sheriff was notified after the raid began.

Prominent Trans Activist Jailed For Murdering Entire Family: ‘Most Depraved Crime I Ever Handled’

Dana Rivers, a longtime transgender activist, was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday for the 2016 murder of a lesbian couple and their son.

Rivers garnered national fame in 1999 for suing the Center Unified School District in Sacramento and winning a $150,000 settlement after being fired for talking to students about transitioning genders, according to Mercury News. Rivers attacked two women, aged 56 and 57, in their bed as they slept, shooting both women and their 19-year old son before stabbing one of the women 47 times and setting their garage on fire.

“This is the most depraved crime I ever handled in the criminal justice system in 33 years. Frankly, you deserve to spend the rest of your life in prison,” Judge Scott Patton said in a Wednesday court hearing, according to Mercury News.

Rivers was arrested Nov. 11, 2016, the day of the murders, while covered in blood leaving the victims’ home, according to Mercury News.

Some of Rivers’ activism involved pressuring women’s only events to include male participants. Rivers participated in a pressure campaign against Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival (MichFest) in an attempt to force the group, which had a “womyn-born-womyn” only policy, to admit him entry, according to Reduxx.

Rivers, a male who identifies as a transgender woman, had befriended one of the female victims through an all-women motorcycle club, but the friendship soured after the woman left the club, according to Mercury News. Rivers rekindled the friendship in order to carry out the triple murder.

Rivers claimed self-defense and then insanity earlier in the trial process, according to Mercury News.
