Wall-piercing Russian rocket slated for Ukraine battlefield – producer

The recently developed S-8OFP unguided air-launched projectile is touted as offering a greater payload.

A new Russian air-launched rocket with increased range and firepower has gone into serial production and could be deployed in action against Ukraine this year, its manufacturer has reported.

The deputy director of defense producer Tekhmash, Aleksandr Kochkin, shared the news about the S-8OFP with RIA Novosti on the sidelines of a military exhibition in Belarus on Wednesday.

The rocket, which is nicknamed ‘Broneboyshchik’ (armor piercer), is the latest addition to the S-8 family of unguided projectiles meant for aerial platforms, including close air support planes and helicopters. According to Tekhmash, the weapon’s main feature is a new engine that uses a more powerful propellant.

Attached is original AG Barr’s appt of John Durham as Special Counsel on October 19, 2020. This was released less than 14 days before Nov, 3, 2020 Presidential election. He wasted Durham’s time for 1 year and 5 months when Barr had hDurham do a preliminary review and then as Special Attorney, both appointments were powerless. Why would Barr waste all that time?

And BTW AG Barr never gave Special Counsel Durham, access to classified information until December 21, 2020 the day Barr resigned. (Two months after Durham was officially appointed SC).

If its not obvious, there was no way for Durham to submit a report either from October 19, 2020 SC appt and certainly he would never be able to submit a SC report if he never had access to underlying classified information Barr finally gave SC on Dec. 21, 2020. The impossibility of Durham producing even a cursory report when he only got full access on 12/21/20there was no way to generate a report within 30 days, or before Jan. 20, 2021 Bidan’s fake inauguration. Barr kneecapped Durham when we all believe he had been special counsel since May of 2019.

Some questions on the SC appt language especially section E:

1. Why did Barr write on 10/19/20 that he would delay any reports from Durham until after the 2020 election? Durham would have officially be SC for only 13-14 days?

2. It was not even conceivable that Durham could submit a report to the AG and then to Congress shortly after Nov. 3, 2020 especially he had no access to classified as SC info until 12/21/20. ( It’s obvious Barr hamstrung and limited Durham’s authorities as SC from the beginning). So why would Barr make note of this in his appt?

3. Why did Barr want to delay informing congress of the SC’s report, when he knew he wasted 1 year and 5 months of Durhams time without the authorities of SC? Was he just trying to delay this in case Durham was a lot further on then Barr thought?

4. Why did Barr only give access to classified documentation to the SC Dec. 21, 2020, two months after appointing him as SC?

Pursuant to 28 C.F.R. § 600.9(a)(3), I write to inform you that Special Counsel John Durham has concluded his investigation. See Attorney General Order 4878-2020 (October 19, 2020) (Attorney General Barr's Order).

UBS Group AG (UBSG.S) was rushed into buying cross-town rival Credit Suisse Group AG (CSGN.S) in a deal it did not want, as a global bank crisis worsened the latter's finances and prompted authorities to take swift action, a regulatory filing showed. UBS, in a Tuesday filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, told investors it had less than four days to conduct due diligence given the "emergency circumstances". It estimated a hit of about $17 billion from the takeover.

Switzerland's biggest bank agreed to buy its smaller rival after the latter had endured a difficult year.

Credit Suisse's involvement in a series of corporate collapses spooked clients who began withdrawing their money, a trend that accelerated when U.S. bank failures sparked fear of a broader banking crisis.

The wave of deposit outflows and a major share-price drop prompted Switzerland's central bank on March 15 to offer Credit Suisse liquidity assistance.The next day, UBS and Credit Suisse signed a confidentiality agreement upon which the former began due diligence, the UBS filing showed.

On March 19, the Swiss National Bank announced UBS would buy Credit Suisse for 3 billion Swiss francs ($3.4 billion) in stock and assume a loss of as much as 5 billion francs stemming from winding down part of the business.

The final price was raised from an initial 1 billion francs, the filing showed.

Interest from UBS in buying Credit Suisse began in October (conveniently just after the NYFRB started doing billions in Franc/Dollar swaps with the Swiss National Bank a total of $20.738B from Sept '22 to April 2023) when the ad hoc Strategy Committee of its board of directors reviewed its rival's distressed situation, according to the filing. The Energy Information Administration on Wednesday reported that U.S. commercial crude inventories rose by 5 million barrels for the week ended May 12. That compared to an increase of 2.5 million barrels forecast by Robert Yawger, director of energy futures at Mizuho Securities USA. The EIA report showed a weekly inventory decline of 1.4 million barrels for gasoline, while distillate stockpiles edged up by 100,000 barrels. Yawger had forecast weekly declines of 2 million barrels each for gasoline and distillates. Crude stocks at the Cushing, Okla., Nymex delivery hub climbed by 1.5 million barrels for the week, the EIA said. Oil futures pared some of their early gains, with June West Texas Intermediate crude CLM23, 0.87% up 76 cents, or 1.1%, at $71.62 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Prices traded at $71.84 before the supply data.

Why would a small part of the Sun appear slightly dark? Visible is a close-up picture of sunspots, depressions on the Sun's surface that are slightly cooler and less bright than the rest of the Sun. The Sun's complex magnetic field creates these cool regions by inhibiting hot material from entering the spots. Sunspots can be larger than the Earth and typically last for about a week. Part of active region AR 3297 crossing the Sun in early May, the large lower sunspot is spanned by an impressive light bridge of hot and suspended solar gas. This high-resolution picture also shows clearly that the Sun's surface is a bubbling carpet of separate cells of hot gas. These cells are known as granules. A solar granule is about 1000 kilometers across and lasts for only about 15 minutes.

Money keeps pouring into the U.S. Marshals Service from federal political campaigns and committees who received funds from FTX, the now-defunct cryptocurrency company, according to a Raw Story analysis of federal campaign records.

Another five political campaigns sent $15,500 in campaign cash to the government agency best known for hunting down suspected criminals, adding to at least $160,000 collected from 30 federal political candidates and party committees, as Raw Story first reported.

The five new campaigns that gave up the money are fundraising entities for Rep. Marc Molinaro (R-NY), Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR), Rep. Bob Latta (R-OH) and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA).

Stefanik is chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, the GOP’s fourth most powerful position in the U.S. House of Representatives.

These mass “disgorgements” to the U.S. Marshals — an extraordinary development with almost no precedent in politics — stem from the Department of Justice urging politicians to return contributions made by FTX executives, including Sam Bankman-Fried, the company’s former CEO. Bankman-Fried faces 13 charges in federal court, including fraud, breaking campaign finance laws and violating the Foreign Corrupt Business Practices Act with an alleged $40 million bribe to Chinese authorities.

“Based on our office's investigation, we have cause to believe these donations represent the proceeds of Bankman-Fried's crimes and accordingly are forfeitable under applicable provisions of the federal asset forfeiture statutes,” said a letter sent by the Department of Justice to a member of Congress’ campaign committee, which in turn shared its contents with Raw Story.

The letter continued, “It is the intent of this office to request any funds forfeited be made available to compensate the victims of Bankman-Fried's crimes pursuant to the Department of Justice's restoration and/or remission regulations."

These letters seem to indicate the DOJ taking a harder stance on campaigns taking money from suspected criminals — and could be considered an “aggressive practice,” said Kevin O’Brien, a partner at Ford O’Brien Landy LLP and former assistant U.S. Attorney for the Department of Justice.

“Forced forfeiture is a very onerous process. It's not fun, and I think that might have something to do with why they're so eager to send the money back,” O’Brien said. “Investors pretty much lost their shirt, and so the government has an obligation to collect what it can from other sources, including people who are required under the law to forfeit the proceeds of a crime.”

As for sending the money to the U.S. Marshals, O’Brien called it “unusual” and “weird.” He wasn’t sure why the funds were directed to the U.S. Marshals but theorized it could be a bureaucratic decision. The Marshals could be taking the funds as a part of its Asset Forfeiture Program, which allows the USMS to manage and sell assets seized and forfeited by the DOJ, according to the U.S. Marshals website.

“The Molinaro campaign sent the contribution it received from an FTX Executive to a U.S. Marshals recovery fund. It will benefit those defrauded by FTX,” said Dave Catalfamo, an adviser to the Molinaro campaign.

Four of the five new disgorgements came from FTX executive, Ryan Salame, a frequent political donor, according to Raw Story’s analysis of FEC records.

Salame’s house was searched by the FBI on April 27, but he has not been charged with a crime.
