WASHINGTON — Former Obama White House stenographer Mike McCormick tells The Post that he wants to testify before the federal grand jury in Delaware considering charges against first son Hunter Biden, sayinghe has relevant information — ignored by the FBI — that implicates President Biden in a foreign influence-peddling “conspiracy.”

“Joe Biden committed crimes in Ukraine in a conspiracy with [current national security adviser] Jake Sullivan,” McCormick said.

“I’m a witness to that happening.”

McCormick visited Ukraine with then-Vice President Biden three times and says that on a 2014 trip, Sullivan — then a Biden national security aide — briefed reporters aboard Air Force Two as an anonymous “senior administration official” about how the US was interested in helping Ukraine’s natural gas industry.

At the time — and unbeknownst to the public — Hunter had joined the board of Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma, working with an executive who would later meet with Joe Biden in Washington.

“I think the FBI should investigate it based on an eyewitness report,” McCormick said.

“This happened. Joe Biden was part of this.

“They’ve been looking at Hunter Biden, but this ties Joe Biden and [Sullivan] into promoting a kickback scheme with Ukraine. It’s the timeline that does it.”

McCormick says he was with Sullivan in the press cabin of the vice presidential jet en route to Kyiv on April 21, 2014, as the aide outlined how the world’s wealthiest country would help the deeply corrupt post-Soviet state build its gas industry.

Giving a rundown of Biden’s priorities, Sullivan said the then-vice president would “discuss with [Ukrainian officials] medium- and long-term strategies to boost conventional gas production, and also to begin to take advantage of the unconventional gas reserves that are in Ukraine.”

Asked for details by a reporter, the anonymous Biden aide said the US was interested in providing “technical assistance to help [Ukraine] be able to boost production in their conventional gas fields, where presently they aren’t getting the maximum of what they could be” while offering “technical assistance relating to a regulatory framework, and also the technology that would be required to extract unconventional gas resources; and Ukraine has meaningful reserves of unconventional gas according to the latest estimates.”

In December of that year, amid broader Obama administration support for Ukraine,Congress approved $50 million to support the country’s energy sector, including the natural gas industry.

BLS: CPI increased 0.1% in March; Core CPI increased 0.4%

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) rose 0.1 percent in March on a seasonally adjusted basis, after increasing 0.4 percent in February, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 5.0 percent before seasonal adjustment.

The index for shelter was by far the largest contributor to the monthly all items increase. This more than offset a decline in the energy index, which decreased 3.5 percent over the month as all major energy component indexes declined. The food index was unchanged in March with the food at home index falling 0.3 percent.

The index for all items less food and energy rose 0.4 percent in March, after rising 0.5 percent in February. Indexes which increased in March include shelter, motor vehicle insurance, airline fares, household furnishings and operations, and new vehicles. The index for medical care and the index for used cars and trucks were among those that decreased over the month.

The all items index increased 5.0 percent for the 12 months ending March; this was the smallest 12-month increase since the period ending May 2021. The all items less food and energy index rose 5.6 percent over the last 12 months. The energy index decreased 6.4 percent for the 12 months ending March, and the food index increased 8.5 percent over the last year.

China fired a warning shot at President Biden when a Chinese-American bank supplied Senate Republicans with records showing millions of dollars flowing from Chinese companies to Mr. Biden‘s son, Hunter Biden, and brother James Biden, said a lawmaker spearheading an investigation of the first family.

Cathay Bank, which is based in Los Angeles but has offices in China, voluntarily turned over bank records requested by Sens. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Charles E. Grassley of Iowa while every other American bank denied the two Republicans’ requests for financial records.

What a strange commentary on our times. One of the only prominent American voices reacting with the appropriate degree of disgust to a horrifying video of the Dalai Lama appearing to abuse a young boy is rapper Cardi B. If you haven't seen the viral footage of the Dalai Lama's February event in northern India – you should. It's shocking and the world cannot look away.

The video shows the 87-year-old spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, considered by his followers to be the living embodiment of the virtues of the religion and the reincarnation of the living Buddha, kissing a child on the lips and then asking the boy to 'suck my tongue.' We must scream that this was not justflat out wrong, it appears to be sexual abuse. Cardi B tweeted in response to the sick display, 'This world is full of predators. They prey on the innocent. The ones who are most unknowing, our children.'

And the singer's reward for stating this obvious and vital truth? She was pilloried on social media, threatened in her direct messages, and made out to be some kind of bigot. I applaud her courage. But I ask: where is the chorus? Why is the performer among few public people expressing fitting moral outrage and revulsion? Meanwhile, there are =crickets from pro-Tibet Hollywood celebrities==, like actor Richard Gere.

Over at the New York Times, there is one lousy straight news report with the bizarrely milquetoast headline: 'Dalai Lama Apologizes Over anExchangeWith a Boy' If you haven't seen the viral footage of Dalai Lama's February event in northern India – you should. It's shocking and the world cannot look away.

'Exchange'? What a maddening perversion of the English language.An exchange suggests equity. A give and take. This was not that. This was one of the most powerful and influential men on earth, the leader of one of the world's five great religions, appearing to treat a child as a plaything.

The Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests (SNAP), a U.S.-based advocacy group for victims of spiritual and religious exploitation, hit the nail on the head: 'An 87-year-old man asking a young boy to perform a blatantly sexual actin a public setting is very disturbing. We feel it is important that every single person who sees, suspects, or suffers child sex crimes, regardless of the level of crime, contact law enforcement to report it. Correct. But this outcry may be falling on deaf ears.

It took weeks for the Dalai Lama's office to even release a statement; representatives of the Dalai Lama conceded that the leader of millions 'regrets the incident,' but then went on to disturbingly explain it away. 'His Holinessoften teasespeople he meets in an innocent and playful way,' they write, 'even in public and before cameras.'

It is basically the Eastern version of former New York Governor AndrewCuomosuggesting that he may have inappropriately touched women, because Italian Americans areemotional and handsy people.

Sticking out one's tongue is a sign of respect or agreement and is often used as a greeting in traditional Tibetan culture… (This is utter bullshit, they made it up for this moment)

Asking a child to suck on your tongue is not, however, part of any acceptable religious, philosophical, or cultural code. This isn't Western chauvinism.Child abuse is an evil that existsand we must not allow a veil of authority, or cultural sensitivity, or anything else, to be pulled over it.

A prominent children's rights group in India, where the exiled Tibetan leader lives,called the incident 'child abuse' and dismissed this twisted cultural defense. 'and even if it is, such cultural expressions are not acceptable.'

Hear, Hear. The bottom line is that we cannot ignore what we saw.Where arethe American Buddhist organizations decrying the incident? Where are our politicians?

If we allow ourselves to overlookthe abuse of children because of the power, the prestige, the cultural sensitivity, or even the holiness of the culprits, then we are failing our children in an unforgivable way.

I'm sure everyone knows about O'Keefe's latest with the ActBlue donations. I discovered how to DL the CSV data for my zipcode from the FEC website so that I could take a closer look. There were over 29k records and it wasn't practical to do anything with it in excel etc. I wrote some code to ingest the data just to see if anything crazy fell out. Well I just got done doing some simple passes at the data and it does look like something weird is going on with ActBlue, the dems and UNEMPLOYED donations.

Of those 29, 14 are SOF aka Special Operations Forces. the remaining 15 consist of the Defense Attache (DAO), personnel with the Office of Defense Cooperation (essentially traffic cops handling the flow of U.S. military aid to Ukraine) and the Marine Security Augmentation Unit (MSAU), which provides security for U.S. diplomatic facilities.

What about the CIA? Yes, they are there, but I do not know if they are listed under State or DOD or both. The briefing slide pictured above is quite explicit that the total U.S. official presence in Ukraine is 100 souls (and that includes the Ambassador).

Chief of Space Operations Gen. Chance Saltzman visited Patrick Space Force Base, Fla., April 10, 2023. This was Saltzman’s first visit to the base since becoming CSO in November 2022.

Jordan subpoenas FTC chair over probe into Musk's Twitter takeover

House Judiciary chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) subpoenaed Federal Trade Commission chair Lina Khan on Wednesday over that agency's probe of Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter, according to copies of the subpoena obtained by Axios.

Why it matters: House Republicans have made the FTC's investigation into Musk's purchase of Twitter one of many targets in their war against what they view as the weaponization of the U.S. government against conservatives.

Several Top Big Tech Firms Lay Off Thousands While Hiring Thousands of Foreigners

Big Tech is taking a beating, or at least we’d think they were, based on the lay offs announced by firms like Amazon, Meta (Facebook), and others. The Gateway Pundit has reported on these “unprecedented” layoffs over the last several months. The explosive growth these firms experienced during the “lockdowns” while small businesses were getting crushed apparently wasn’t sustainable. Fox Business reported back in April 2021 that there were 200,000+ excess business closures over the historic average.

However, a new study by the Economic Policy Institute reveals a shocking disservice to those who were laid off and a different narrative regarding “growth sustainability”: in 2022 and early 2023, the top H-1B employers have laid off or plan to lay off over 85,000 employees while consecutively hiring or planning to hire 34,000 new H-1B workers. The H-1B visa is used to hire specialty employees that meet educational requirements to work in a particular specialized field. The data EPI used does not specify if the laid off employees were H-1B visa recipients of American citizens.

According to the EPI’s report, “thirteen of the top 30 H-1B employers were outsourcing firms that underpay migrant workers and offshore U.S. jobs to countries where labor costs are much lower.”

Fix the outsourcing loophole by issuing policy guidance from DOL that requires secondary employers of H-1B workers (the companies that hire outsourcing firms to provide contract workers) to file labor condition applications. Guidance to require this was recently considered but never finalized, which would have prevented firms like Disney from replacing their U.S. employees with contracted H-1B workers.

Implement DOL’s delayed H-1B prevailing wage methodology rule, so that H-1B workers are paid a fair wage and employers are prevented from undercutting U.S. wage standards. The rule currently appears on the White House’s regulatory agenda but it is unclear whether a rule will ever be proposed.

Issue an updated version of USCIS’s H-1B visa allocation rule, which would distribute H-1B visas by wage level rather than random lottery. A rule like this would ensure that the highest-skilled H-1B workers are awarded visas and it also has bipartisan support.

Direct the Wage and Hour Division to enforce the requirement in the H-1B labor condition application for employers to pay the “actual wage” rate they pay to other employees with similar experience and qualifications. Particular attention should initially be focused on firms that continue to hire large numbers of H-1B workers after conducting mass layoffs.

Less than a week after Twitter labeled the BBC "government funded media," owner Elon Musk gave an impromptu interview to the news agency on Tuesday evening at Twitter HQ, where he discussed topics ranging from layoffs, to misinformation, to his work habits, to the fact that most of the advertisers who left in a huff have now returned or said they will.

But who cares about most of that. Elon totally crushed the BBC reporter, James Clayton, by calling him out over the nanny state's favorite straw man - 'hate speech,' and then trying to get Clayton to admit he likes large black penises.

When asked why there's 'so much more hate speech on Twitter' since he took over, Musk pushed back - challenging Clayton to provide a single example. Clayton couldn't. Then says '

"You said you've seen more hateful content but you can't name a single example. Not even one."

To which Clayton replied: "I'm not sure I've used that feed for the last three or four weeks and I –"

"Then how could you see the hateful content? .. I'm asking for one example. You can't give a single one." Musk interjected. "Then I say sir that you don't know what you're talking about … because you can't give a single example of hateful content, not even one tweet. And yet, you claimed that the hateful content was high. That's false. You just lied!"

Clayton then points to "many organizations that say that that kind of information is on the rise."

"Give me one example!" says Musk.

Musk then amplified a discussion posted by Twitter user @KaneokaTheGreat, in which David Sacks explains how the establishment 'uses hate speech as a red herring to mask their true intention of exerting political censorship and controlling the narrative.'

"What the left has wanted to do since @elonmusk took over Twitter is to say that this is about allowing more hate on the platform, and that has never been the motivation for those of us who care about free speech… What is our main concern about censorship? It is political suppression. It's about narrative control.

"It's not like we want more hate on the platform. We want a level playing field. We don't want the thought police at Twitter putting their thumb on the scale of American democracy and deciding who has a voice and who doesn't. That's what this is really about. The people who believe in censorship want to make you think that this is about allowing more hate, and it's not."

This morning we broke the story that tied the monitoring of elections to a massive censorship scheme, previously uncovered, in part, by the US House of Representatives:

The Department of Homeland Security’s private partner, Center for Internet Security (CIS), installed “Albert Sensors” all over the United States to monitor real-time data in election jurisdictions down to the county level. The program was present in only a handful of states in 2016, but was massively expanded after Donald Trump’s 2016 upset victory over Hilary Clinton.

While Albert Sensors quickly proliferated across the United States’ election infrastructure, CIS worked with left-wing NGOs, election officials, and Twitter, to set up a powerful censorship operation to squash all discussion of irregularities and fraud observed in the 2020 election.

What a coincidence.

Not only is CIS in the monitoring and censorship business, but they also piloted a faux-certification program called RABET-V—where they hired the owner of an electronic ballot delivery company to lead an effort to conclude that the nation’s “non-voting technology” (i.e. electronic pollbooks, election night reporting, etc.)—are “safe and secure.”

After the story broke this morning – a Twitter user reached out with a screenshot from this document about the RABET-V program published last month by CIS.

The tweet highlighted the fact that the Democracy Fund, a radical leftist NGO, provided the funding for the RABET-V program. The tweet was censored to “limited visibility” within hours.

Excerpt from CIS’s “RABET-V Final Pilot Summary and Next Steps”

The RABET-V pilot technology partners include Electronic Systems & Software (ES&S), Runbeck, KnowINK (owner of BPro), and VR Systems. The state of South Carolina donated its voter registration system to the project. All these companies have been highlighted by election integrity investigators and independent auditors as having major issues with their software and credibility with the public at large.

The team who developed and administered the RABET-V program had two representatives from CIS and the rest were from a shadow election consultant company called “The Turnout.”

Information on The Turnout is truncated on their website, but here’s a description of what The Turnout does in their own words: “Together with our clients, we’ve helped governments perform security self-assessments and upgrade their cybersecurity, visualize, and analyze their processes, and standardize and validate their elections data. Our projects range from data analysis and policy research to technology development, project administration, business process modeling, marketing, and more.”

Reading The Turnout’s “Articles” collection on their website reveals their biases. One article titled, “Reflecting on the 2020 Elections,” begins with Senior Policy Specialist stating that the 2020 elections were “the best-administered and most secure in United States history.”

Meloni Govt Declares State of Emergency as Italy Sees Illegal Boat Migration Quadruple

Italy’s right-wing government on Tuesday declared a six-month national state of emergency to help it cope with a surge in migrants arriving on the country’s southern shores.

State TV said a special commissioner was expected to be named. Initial funding of 5 million euros (nearly $5.5 million) was also approved as part of the measure approved by Premier Giorgia Meloni and her Cabinet.

In a statement after the Cabinet meeting, the government said the state of emergency was deemed necessary “to carry out with urgency extraordinary measures to reduce congestion” at an overwhelmed migrant shelter on a tiny Italian island in the Mediterranean.

Also needed are “new structures, suitable both for sheltering as well as the processing and repatriation of migrants who don’t have the requisites to stay” in Italy, the government statement said.

During the COVID-19 pandemic Italy’s governing coalitions also imposed a state of emergency, enabling the Cabinet to mandate many coping measures by decree, temporarily bypassing the usually long parliamentary process for funding and regulations.

“Let’s be clear, this doesn’t resolve the problem, whose solution is tied to a mindful and responsible intervention of the European Union,” Civil Protection and Sea Policies Minister Nello Musumeci was quoted as saying by the Italian news agency ANSA.

Largely unsuccessfully, Meloni’s government, like several others before, has pressed for more solidarity from fellow EU countries, which often don’t make good on pledges to accept some of the asylum-seekers hoping to find relatives or work in northern Europe.

Since the start of this year, some 31,000 migrants, either rescued by Italian military boats or charity ships or reaching Italy without assistance, have disembarked, according to Interior Ministry figures. That’s nearly four times the roughly 8,000 for the same period in each of the two previous years.

The arrivals of migrants, who set out in unseaworthy vessels launched by smugglers from northern African shores, seem destined to swell. Early on Wednesday, a smugglers’ boat, crowded with some 700 passengers, was expected to pull into the port of Catania, a major city in eastern Sicily.

Italian coast guard boats had been escorting the distressed fishing vessel toward shore when a breakdown forced it to need towing, slowing its advance. The coast guard had already transferred some 100 of the passengers when rough seas made that operation too risky, and the decision was taken to leave the rest of the migrants aboard until the vessel could reach port.

On one recent day alone, 26 migrant boats, many of them without needing rescue, reached the Lampedusa, a tiny Italian island south of Sicily. The facility on Lampedusa which shelters migrants so they can be provisionally identified as a first step toward any asylum application, was reeling under the relentless stream of arrivals.

The shelter is meant to accommodate about 350-400 people, but in recent days, there were 3,000. Italy chartered empty commercial ferries to transfer hundreds of them to Sicily or the mainland.

Uncensored “before and after” pictures of transgender top surgeries performed on underage girls have reportedly been removed from a North Carolina cosmetic surgery clinic’s website.

Screenshots disseminated Saturday on Twitter show preoperative and postoperative photographs of young people who identify as transgender and had their breasts removed at The Cosmetic Concierge in Charlotte, according to Reduxx.

The clinic removed three photographs of bare-chested minors from its website’s gallery, but an archived “before and after” page dated Jan. 22 appears to show that images of a 14-year-old, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old were once accessible.

Twitter user @SherriBissel captured the screenshots, and BlazeTV host Sara Gonzales posted them to Twitter.

Patient #4982 is described as a 16-year-old who underwent “[Female-to-Male] Chest Reconstruction with Peri-Areolar (Keyhole) Incisions.” Patient #1980 is a 15-year-old who received a “Double Incision with Nipple Grafts.” Patient # 1934 is a 14-year-old shown six months after “FTM Chest Reconstruction with Peri-Areolar (Keyhole) Incisions.”

All three patients were listed as “male.”

The original images reportedly showed the naked breasts of all three underage biological females.

The Charlotte clinic’s FAQ says that it only performs gender-affirming top surgeries on minors with parental consent.

“When considering gender confirming procedures for patients under the age of 18, we do require the consent of a parent or guardian along with the recommendation of a therapist,” the clinic said.

The Cosmetic Concierge made its Instagram and Twitter accounts private after the screenshots circulated on social media. The clinic’s Pinterest and YouTube accounts remain publicly accessible.

Dr. Hope Sherie is the surgeon specializing in sex-change procedures at The Cosmetic Concierge, specifically for women identifying as men. She has sponsored Point of Pride, a non-profit providing financial assistance and free chest binders to transgender youth.

Russian lawmakers have completed an investigation into Washington's military-related biological activities at laboratories across Ukraine on the basis of findings made public by Russia's Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops over the past year.

Washington is working on a "universal" genetically engineered bioweapon designed to cause severe damage to enemies comparable to that of a "nuclear winter," a Russian parliamentary commission investigating US biolabs in Ukraine has concluded.

The commission report indicated that unfortunately, contemporary scientific advancements in the fields of genetic engineering, biotechnology, toxicology and synthetic biology have increased the possibility of their use to create advanced biological weapons agents of a new generation - at the same time that detecting and identifying their use using traditional diagnosis tools has become extremely difficult. Gunning for Conflict: Israel-Azerbaijan Collaboration Against Iran

In a bid to shift the region's balance of power, Israel has for years illicitly transported arms to Azerbaijan, impacting the latter's conflict with Armenia and creating a crisis with bordering Iran.

According to a 6 March investigation by Haaretz, Israeli weapons were being transported to the Azerbaijani military during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, which left thousands of civilians dead, wounded, and displaced.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the conflict, rooted in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region between Azerbaijan and Armenia, transformed into an open and bloody war, during which both sides faced sanctions and severe export restrictions from the US and Europe.

The revelation of Israeli arms exports to Azerbaijan has sparked controversy and criticism from Humans Rights Watch (HRW) because of the Azerbaijani military’s alleged human rights abuses, which include the use of banned cluster munitions and the targeting of civilian areas.

These revelations have also escalated tensions between Israel and Armenia. In the wake of the crisis, Yerevan recalled its ambassador from Tel Aviv in 2020, and demanded that Israel cease all arms exports to Azerbaijan and adopt a neutral position in the conflict.

Flying in Israeli arms to Azerbaijan

According to the newly obtained documents, Azerbaijani cargo airline Silk Way Airlines has been landing at Israel’s Ovda airbase to transport explosives for around a decade. Israeli aviation law prohibits the routine transport of explosives from its more densely populated Ben-Gurion Airport, so in 2016, Silk Way was granted an exemption to continue landing at Ovda – with some of these flights reportedly using the official call sign of Azerbaijan’s defense ministry.

The revelation has also raised domestic concerns about potential dangers posed by the airline’s cargo, prompting Israeli authorities to launch an investigation into the airline’s regulatory compliance to safeguard the general public.

This comes after a report by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) disclosed that Silk Way allegedly made 350 secret flights between 2014 and 2017, illegally transporting hundreds of tons of weapons from Bulgaria to ISIS, Syria, and other regional states. The disclosure came to light after a reporter filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the US government in 2016.

The report also noted that Silk Way, which is owned by a company with past ties to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his family, has gained several lucrative contracts from the US military. Interestingly, the airline received $419.5 million in loans from the US Export-Import Bank to expand its fleet, purchasing three 747-8 cargo planes from Boeing to continue its operations, which have been described as “sinister.”

The Ex-Im Bank is a federal agency with the primary policy of supporting the acquisition of US-made products such as Boeing aircraft. However, the Azerbaijani airline has strongly denied the allegations that it operated hundreds of secret flights transporting weapons and has claimed that the report was the “result of an organized campaign of misinformation penned by geopolitically motivated authors.”

Despite the allegations, Silk Way has contractual relationships with several of the world’s biggest institutions, among them, the US military, Boeing and Boeing Global Services, the Canadian Department of National Defense, the German Armed Forces, the French Army, and the United Nations.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the UK’s largest independent producer of official statistics and the recognised national statistical institute of the UK, and on the 6th July, they published a dataset containing a whole host of horrifying data on deaths by vaccination status in England between 1st Jan 2021 and 31st May 2022.

Table 9 of the dataset contains figures on ‘Whole period counts of all registered deaths grouped by how many weeks after vaccination the deaths occurred; for deaths involving COVID-19 and deaths not involving COVID-19, deaths occurring between 1 January 2021 and 31 May 2022, England’.

Joe Biden is continuing to admit thousands of Afghans to the United States, and pressing Congress to approve an additional 20,000 visas for them.

More than 90,000 Afghans have already been brought to America since the badly botched withdrawal from the country in 2021, which saw 13 American servicemen and servicewomen killed in a mass casualty terror attack and left the Taliban controlling more of Afghanistan than before the intervention.

National Pulse editor-in-chief Raheem Kassam recently exposed how the Biden administration contributed to the disaster by adopting what he described as an “Americans last” approach during the evacuation, with resources surged into processing thousands of so-called ‘Special Immigrant Visa’ applicants while American citizens were left behind.

Now, the state-run Voice of America (VOA) network reports that “even under Taliban rule” thousands of Afghans are still being relocated to the United States — and that President Biden wants Congress to approve Special Immigrant Visas for 20,000 more.

Voice of America notes that the Taliban are “[a]ware of the ongoing relocation flights” but that they have so far declined to impede them “despite widespread allegations that the group targets Afghans who worked for the previous U.S.-backed Afghan government.”

However, Voice of America raises no concerns that if the Taliban are content to see these people transferred to the United States under their noses they might be something less than legitimate refugees at best and a possible threat to the Islamists’ former enemies at worst — with the roughly $267.5 million VOA receives in American taxpayer dollars each year a possible disincentive to overly critical reporting.

Similarly, VOA notes that the migrants taken out of Afghanistan are initially processed at in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates before eventually ” resettling in the U.S., Canada or a European country” and declines to ask why the fantastically wealthy Islamic countries could not furnish them with a permanent home.

Indeed, while the official, whitewash report on the evacuation relates the relocation of tens of thousands of Afghans to the United States as a point of pride, it glosses over significant issues among the new arrivals: The Associated Press reported in September 2021 that the U.S. State Department detected multiple men with child brides among the Afghans, for example.

The AP bizarrely downplayed this by suggesting that “child marriage is not uncommon in Afghanistan” – a damning indictment of the two-decade occupation of the country to usher in reform in itself – but conceded that something more sinister was going on among the evacuees. State Department officials said they had received reports from the Arab processing sites that girls were complaining of having been forced to marry their adult husbands, and even raped by them.

“U.S. officials at intake centers in the United Arab Emirates and in Wisconsin have found many incidents in which Afghan girls have been presented to authorities as the wives of much older men,” according to a September 2021 report from the Office of Intelligence and Analysis at the Department of Homeland Security.

Former US president claims his erstwhile attorney-turned-critic broke his contract and confidentiality agreement

Donald Trump has sued Michael Cohen, his ex-lawyer and a crucial witness in the “hush money” case brought against the former president by Manhattan prosecutors, seeking at least $500mn for alleged breaches of contract and confidentiality agreements.

The lawsuit was filed in the Southern District of Florida just a few weeks after Cohen repeatedly testified before a grand jury in New York about the $130,000 he paid to buy the silence of porn actress Stormy Daniels in the days before the 2016 election. Daniels, who also testified before the Manhattan grand jury, had claimed she had an affair with Trump, which he denies.

The recording of Trump’s alleged reimbursements to Cohen in 2017 are at the centre of the 34 felony charges brought against the former president by the Manhattan district attorney last month.

Cohen, a New York lawyer who once said he would “take a bullet” for Trump and became a part of the former president’s first election campaign, worked first as an attorney for the Trump Organization, and then for Donald Trump himself, before their relationship ended in 2018.

He subsequently pleaded guilty to federal campaign finance charges and lying to Congress in 2018. He received a three-year prison sentence, of which he served 13 months, and turned on his former boss, becoming one of Trump’s loudest critics.

Trump’s lawyers said in the lawsuit that Cohen — who was disbarred following his conviction — breached his contract with his former client “through myriad public statements, including the publication of two books, a podcast series, and innumerable mainstream media appearances”, which caused the former president to suffer “vast reputational harm”.

A lawyer for Cohen did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Todd Blanche, a lawyer representing Trump in the district attorney’s criminal case, told a court last week that his client had been “frustrated” and “upset” watching Cohen and others on the air, and that the former president had therefore “responded forcefully” on social media.

Trump’s lawsuit is the latest riposte by the former president and his allies to the unprecedented indictment issued by Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg’s office. The years-long investigation had been labelled a “political witch hunt” by Trump and supporters such as Jim Jordan, a Republican congressman who chairs the House judiciary committee.

On Tuesday, Bragg sued Jordan and his committee in an attempt to block a subpoena issued to former Manhattan prosecutor Mark Pomerantz, which the DA’s office said was part of a “retaliatory political circus designed to undermine the rule of law”.

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Sanders Signs Bill Banning Parole for Rapists, Murderers, And Human Traffickers

Arkansas Governor Sarah Sanders has signed a bill banning parole for rapists, murderers, and human traffickers.

The Protect Arkansas Act will prevent people who commit first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, child pornography possession, or 21 other felonies from being released early if their crimes were committed after 2024 — when it goes into effect.

The legislation will also require people convicted of several other felonies, including manslaughter or fentanyl delivery, to serve at least 85 percent of their prison sentences.

“The failed public safety status quo ends today in Arkansas,” Sanders tweeted after signing the bill. “No more revolving doors in our prisons. No more weak sentencing. No more unsafe streets.”

Sanders added, “The Protect Arkansas Act is now the law of the land — empowering Arkansans with a safer, stronger state.”

The governor signed the bill while flanked by law enforcement officers.

Sanders also signed the Fentanyl Enforcement and Accountability Act, which will allow drug dealers to be charged with murder if they deliver certain drugs that cause an overdose.

“Arkansas will now charge drug dealers with murder if they deliver certain drugs that cause an overdose,” Sanders said. “For the most heinous drug dealers, those who traffic fentanyl to children, we will charge them with life in prison.”

U.S. and Philippines hold joint military drills as China tensions rise

The U.S. drills with the Philippines follow comparable operations with South Korea in March.

The United States and the Philippines began extensive military drills on Tuesday, marking the largest such operations the nations have conducted jointly in decades.

Slated to run from April 11-28, the drills will include nearly 18,000 personnel, among them 12,200 from the U.S. and 5,400 Filipino troops, Politico reported. Those totals will make the month's exercises the largest Balikatan drills ever. The name of the joint operations is Tagalog for "shoulder to shoulder."

The operations will include live-fire drills and an offshore boat-sinking, the outlet noted. The South China Sea will provide the venue for the occasion.

The maritime region has become a hotbed of military and diplomatic tensions as China seeks to assert control of Taiwan and expand its influence in the eastern waters. Chinese warships and airplanes this month approached the island what Beijing termed a "serious warning."

Kiev votes to honor Nazi official

The city’s mayor stopped the move, which would have seen a street renamed after a founder of the Ukrainian SS

Residents of Kiev have voted to rename a street in the Ukrainian capital after an infamous Nazi collaborator, the Jerusalem Post reported on Tuesday. Although city authorities were reportedly ready to approve the name change,Mayor Vitaly Klitschko canceled the measureafter Israel’s ambassador intervened.

As Ukrainian officials continue their campaign of removing monuments to Russian culture and history, the Kiev city council recently opened an online poll where residents could vote on a new name for Przhevalsky Street, which was named after the 19th-century Russian explorer Nikolay Przhevalsky.

The council gave the public a number of names to choose from, but, according to Ukrainian Jewish Committee Director Eduard Dolinsky, one clear favorite stood out: that of Nazi collaborator Vladimir Kubiyovich.

Kubiyovich received 31% of the vote, Dolinsky told the Jerusalem Post, with the next two options receiving 18% and 10%, respectively. Although voting was set to remain open until Saturday, Dolinsky said that the council would likely approve renaming the street in Kubiyovich’s honor.

A geographer by profession, Kubiyovich was a supporter of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) during the early days of the Second World War. TheOUN was led by Stepan Bandera, another Nazi collaboratorwho is widely revered in modern Ukraine. In 1943, Kubiyovich helped establish the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS, also known as the 1st Galician division.

Comprising predominantly Ukrainian volunteers from the Galicia region (which spans what is now southwestern Poland and western Ukraine), the division is known forcommitting atrocities against Poles and Jewsin the latter years of the war. As Soviet forces neared Poland in 1944,Kubiyovich fled to Germany and then to France, where he remained until his death in 1985.

Despite support for the measure in Kiev, Przhevalsky Street will not be renamed. After the publication of the Jerusalem Post’s article, Israel’s ambassador to Ukraine, Michael Brodsky, announced on Twitter that following a conversation with Mayor Klitschko, “this inappropriate initiative won’t go ahead.”

Kubiyovich is still honored with a plaque in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, whilemultiple streets and squaresthroughout Ukraine have beenrenamed after Banderasince the pro-Western revolution of 2014. Since the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine last February, countless photographs have emerged of Ukrainian soldiers wearing Nazi regalia, some of which were posted to social media by President Vladimir Zelensky, who is Jewish.

Town came to a halt for president, who didn’t stop for long

He was gone almost as soon as Dundalk knew he was coming. President Joe Biden’s fleeting visit to the Co Louth border town was historic, rainy and, most of all, brief.

Much of the country was issued with a status yellow weather warning by Met Éireann until 8pm on Wednesday, with winds of up to 110km/h forecast – thankfully Louth was excluded. It was one of those evenings where no item of clothing was saved from a good drenching, but the heavy rain and sharp nip in the air couldn’t stop people from taking advantage of the once-in-a-generation visit to the town.

Crowds steadily formed across the day in Dundalk for president Biden’s walkabout in the town on Wednesday evening. Locals, tourists and probably half the country’s gardaí swarmed the streets of the town. Music was being played and teenagers off on their Easter break were roaming about, no doubt a bit frazzled by all the commotion in their small part of the world. The word on everybody’s lips was ‘Joe’ – specifically when he’d show up and where he’d go, with an almost mythical shroud of secrecy still surrounding the finer details of the trip just hours before his scheduled arrival.

“We’re just so excited really,” said Lola Animashaun, who came out with her children for the presidential visit. “We don’t mind if it’s raining, snowing – whatever. We’re just so happy. We’re proud of what Biden’s doing right now. Fingers crossed for his election.”

Kiev's troops are "tense and worried" as Russia takes the upper hand in Artyomovsk, tabloid claims

Many Ukrainian soldiers are not convinced the town of Artyomovsk – which they call Bakhmut – is worth clinging to, as Russian forces are advancing street by street, the German outlet Bild reported on Wednesday.

“Bakhmut is hell,” wrote freelance journalist Jan Humin, who visited the town last week and wrote about one 28-year-old soldier who was badly injured. The armored ambulance refused to start, so the soldier from western Ukraine had to be evacuated by a jeep on a dirt road, dodging Russian artillery fire.

“The positive energy that surprises you everywhere in Ukraine, even when things are going badly, cannot be felt in Bakhmut,” Humin added. “Few soldiers feel like talking; while the sound of constant impacts is heard, they sit still and wait for what is to come.”

The Russians are “slowly but surely winning” theseven-month battlefor the town, with only two roads still connecting the “almost surrounded” Artyomovsk to the Ukrainian rear, according to Humin. The Russians are advancing street by street and “it seems only a matter of time” before they capture the town completely.

“The mood among themilitary is tense, focused, and worried. Many wonder what they are fighting for in Bakhmut. Is it really still worth defending this devastated city against the repeated attacks of the Russian armed forces,” the Bild correspondent added.

Russia’s interest in taking Artyomovsk is a matter of public record. The town is the linchpin of the Ukrainian army’s entire position in the Donbass, and taking it would allow further advance deep into Ukrainian-held territory, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said last month. Up the road from Artyomovsk lies Slavyansk, where the Donetsk People’s Republic rebellion against the US-backed coup government in Kiev began in 2014.

The Wagner Group private military company has taken point in the storming of Artyomovsk, enveloping the town to the north and the south while also fighting street by street, building by building, to take the urban area. On April 2, Wagner fighters captured the city administration building. Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin has claimed the fighting in Artyomovsk has “almost destroyed the Ukrainian army.”

The fighting has continued, however, as the government inKiev has continued to funnel men, ammunition and suppliesinto the shrinking salient. President Vladimir Zelensky has vowed tohold the town at all cost, even as his Western backers have warned that such efforts were depleting the forces intended for Ukraine’s “great spring counteroffensive.”

State-funded NPR has announced it will boycott the platform after a label highlighted its government link

US state-affiliated media outlet NPR has decided to abandon its Twitter account in protest after the social media platform attached a label pointing out its reliance on government funding.

The broadcaster's chief executive John Lansing insisted thatboycotting Twitter will “protect NPR’s credibilityand its ability to produce journalism without a shadow of negativity,” the outlet reported on Wednesday. “The downside… doesn’t change that fact. I would never have our content go anywhere that would risk our credibility,” he insisted. (KEK they have no credibility, they hate the US and take money, how is that credible?Aren’t they part of the Freedom House program?)

The row began last week, whenTwitter labeled NPR as “US state-affiliated media.” The broadcaster pushed back, arguing that labeling it in the same way as state-affiliated media organizations from such countries as Russia and China was “unacceptable.” Twitter revised the disclaimer to “government-funded media.” Nevertheless, Elon Musk defended the original decision, saying NPR fit the definition of state-affiliated media.

NPR derives nearly 10% of its revenue from federal, state and local governments, according to US watchdog group InfluenceWatch. Much of that money is paid indirectly, through grants to local radio stations that license content from NPR. “Federal funding is essential to public radio’s service to the American public, and its continuation is critical for both stations and program producers, including NPR,” the outlet says on its own website.

As Fox News host Tucker Carlson points out, NPR downplays its government funding to the public while at the same time sending lobbyists to Washington every year to demand more taxpayer dollars. “NPR is the radio station of permanent Washington,” Carlson said last week. “That’s who pays for it, that’s who benefits from it.”

NPR has been accused of promoting establishment talking points and helping to manipulate the 2020 presidential election. Just weeks before voters went to the polls, the outlet joined with other legacy media organizations ignoring the New York Post’s bombshell report on alleged influence-peddling by then-candidate Joe Biden’s family.

A week later, NPR Managing Editor Terence Samuel defended the decision, saying, “We don’t want to waste our time on stories thatare not really stories, and we don’t want to waste the listeners’ and readers’ time on stories that are pure distractions.” (The Hunter Laptop from Hell)

Samuel was later promoted to executive editor. The messages on which the Post’s scoop were based, derived from a laptop abandoned by Biden’s son, were later confirmed as authentic by such outlets as the New York Times and Washington Post.

In recent weeks, NPR has published reports promoting gun ownership by transgender people and arguing that male athletes don’t have a physical advantage over their female counterparts. The broadcaster later issued a correction, acknowledging that scientific research shows that testosterone levels affect athletic performance.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Oregon is changing a half-century-old land-use law to make room for semiconductor development and gain an edge in attracting the multi-billion-dollar industry, upsetting farmers who see their livelihoods at risk.

Lawmakers backing a bill that also provides about $200 million in grants to chipmakers said it’s needed to make Oregon more competitive in luring more of the multibillion-dollar semiconductor industry to the state. Other lawmakers argued that the measure is an attack on the nation’s first statewide policy — created a half-century ago — that limits urban sprawl and protects farmland and forests.

“These regulations have resulted in 50 years of success protecting our farm and forest lands, containing urban sprawl, and protecting natural resources,” said Republican state Rep. Anna Scharf. “Senate Bill 4 throws that out the window.”

The bill, which the state Senate approved last week and the House passed on a 44-10 vote Thursday, allows Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek to designate up to eight sites for urban growth boundary expansion — two that exceed 500 acres (202 hectares) and six smaller sites. The Oregon Farm Bureau was among the groups that opposed the bill.

“There is some extremely valuable farmland in the area that produces Oregonians’ food and provides those families and those employees jobs,” Scharf said. “Farmland, once it is paved over, can never be reclaimed.”

BBC riled by Twitter ‘government-funded’ label

The broadcaster insists that despite being financed by a mandatory fee, it’s not state-funded

Twitter CEO Elon Musk has ignited a feud with the BBC by labeling the British state broadcaster a “government funded media” organization. The organization has denied taking state money – an untrue statement – and its defenders claim that beingfunded by the British government differsfrom being funded by theBritish public. (The public’s taxes are given to the Gov and they fund BBC, they try the same stupid trick in the US)

In reality, the BBC does accept direct British government funding. For example,it's own websiteadmitted on Monday that it receives"£90million ($111 million) per yearfrom the government to support the BBC World Service."

In addition, it has also taken direct state cash(which included a 2015 grant of £289 million) from the UK's National Security Strategy and Strategic Defence and Security Review to strengthen London's global "soft power."

Twitter applied the label to the BBC’s main account earlier this week, after slapping US broadcaster NPR with a similar tag describing it as “US state-affiliated media.” While Twitter previously reserved such labels for foreign media outlets – likeRT and China’s CGTN, Musk said that applying it to NPR “seems accurate.”

NPR’s tag was changed to read “government-funded media” after an outcry from US liberals.

The BBC bristled at receiving the tag. “We are speaking to Twitter to resolve this issue as soon as possible,” the broadcaster said in a statement on Sunday. “The BBC is, andalways has been, independent. We are funded by the British public through the licence fee.” (This is too much….kek)

On Twitter, the BBC’s defenders pointed to the license fee as proof of the network’s independence. The BBC, Deadline reporter Jake Kanter argued, “is funded by the British public through a system known as the licence fee. The BBC’s operations and editorial decision-making are entirely independent of the government.”

However, commenters pointed out that the license fee “is a government tax in all but name.”

Set by the government, the fee is an annual payment of £159 ($197) owedby any household with a televisionor device capable of receiving television broadcasts. The BBC hires contractors to visit the homes of suspected evaders, and those who refuse to pay can be prosecuted by the broadcaster. Around 45,000 people per year are prosecuted for failing to pay the license, the Telegraph reported last month.

The UK’s Office for National Statistics classifies the fee as a tax, and the BBC as part of the “central government sector” of the UK economy.

Additionally, the broadcaster does actually receive direct government funding for BBC World Service. The TV license covers 75% of the service’s operational costs while the rest is directly paid for by the UK government to the tune of some £90 million ($111 million) per year. Last month, the service was also awarded a £20 million ($24 million) one-time payment to help “fight against the spread of disinformation around the world.”BBC World Serviceis predominantly aimed at non-UK audiences and broadcasts in over 40 languages.

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office is also the biggest funder of the BBC’s Media Action service, which additionally receives funding from the governments of the US, Canada, Norway, Sweden, the EU, the UN, as well as donors like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The service supplies two dozen developing countries with “information they can trust,” per the BBC’s own website.

The financial penalties target an investment bank and its executives in Budapest

The US has blacklisted a Russian-linked investment bank and three of its executives in Budapest. The sanctions come after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban repeatedly claimed that the US and its allies are attempting to pressure his country into arming Ukraine.

The US Treasury Department announcedsanctions on 80 Russian-linkedindividuals and entities on Wednesday. Included on the list was the Budapest-based International Investment Bank and three of its current or former executives, two of whom are Russian and one Hungarian.

The International Investment Bank wasformed in 1970by several members of the former Warsaw Pact, and is managed today by officials from Cuba, Hungary, Mongolia, Russia, and Vietnam. Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Slovakia pulled out of the bank last year after EU sanctions froze most of its funds.

In a statement, the Treasury Department described the bank as an outpost of Russia’s “intelligence presence in Europe,” and accused it of serving “as a mechanism for corruption and illicit finance, including sanctions violations.”

“Unlike other NATO allies previously engaged with this Russian entity,” US ambassador David Pressman told reporters in Budapest on Wednesday, “Hungary has dismissed the concerns of the United States government regarding the risks its continued presence poses to the alliance.”

The timing of the sanctions is noteworthy, coming a day after Hungary clinched a new gas deal with Russia. Hungarian and Russian officials also discussed an acceleration of the ongoing expansion of Hungary’s Paks nuclear power plant by Rosatom, Russa’s state atomic energy agency.

Orban has claimed that his country is being subjected to“constant pressure” from its NATO alliesto sever its energy links with Russia and step into the Ukrainian conflict on Kiev’s side.

Although a NATO member, Hungary has refused to supply Kiev with weapons or allow arms to enter Ukraine through its territory. Orban, meanwhile, has refused to back any EU sanctions that would cut it off from Russian gas, oil, or nuclear fuel.

“They want to drag us into the war through every possible means,” Orban told Swiss magazine Weltwoche last month. “So far, we have managed to resist.”

South Korea has reportedly agreed to supply 500,000 rounds to help replenish US stockpiles amid the Ukraine conflict

South Korea has reportedly agreed to help ease Washington’s artillery supply shortfall, loaning 500,000 rounds of 155mm shells as the US ships out much of its own supplies to Ukraine.

The deal was signed last month and was structured as a loan, rather than a sale, to keep Seoul at arm’s length from providing military aid to Kiev amid its conflict with Russia, South Korea’s Dong-A Ilbo newspaper reported on Wednesday. The report, which cited unidentified “multiple government sources,” added that the loan was equivalent to about half the number of artillery shells the US sent to Ukraine last year and five times the number that South Korea sold to Washington in December.

Citing its policy against providing lethal military aid in active conflict zones, the South Korean government insisted that the US be designated as the “end user” of the 100,000 shells sold to Washington last year. By lending the latest batch of rounds, rather than selling them, Seoul sees less risk of the munitions being given to Ukraine without South Korea’s consent, Dong-A Ilbo said.

The agreement came together with South Korea’s government feeling pressure to “produce results” for its larger ally ahead of President Yoon Suk-yeol’s planned state visit to Washington later this month. In a worst-case scenario, the newspaper said, Russia might take retaliatory measures against South Korean citizens and businesses, but the unprecedented rental deal would enable Seoul to appease Moscow by asking the US to return the shells.

President Joe Biden’s administration began asking South Korea for more artillery rounds in February, according to the report. Considering the US-South Korean relationship, Seoul couldn’t ignore the US’ request. “It was not a situation where we could stick to our position” of refusing lethal aid to Kiev, another government official said.

NATO has warned thatUkraine is burning through ammunition at a rate “many times higher” than the pace at which the Western military bloc can produce new shells.

ARLINGTON, Va. (AFNS) – Honorable Frank Calvelli, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration, released a memorandum April 5, outlining the U.S. Space Force’s plan to transform its architecture to a more proliferated and resilient form.

“Today our space systems are increasingly under threat,” Calvelli said. “Strategic competitors want to deny our advantage in space during a potential conflict. Our current space architecture was designed when space was a benign environment. To meet the pacing threat, we are transforming from the few 'big juicy targets' of the past to a more proliferated and resilient architecture that can be counted on during times of crisis and conflict.”

The memorandum underscores the Department of Air Force’s continued intent to rapidly develop, test and field space capabilities based on Hon Calvelli’s nine Space Acquisition Tenets.

The derived formula is as follows:

Build smaller satellites and use existing technology to minimize non-recurring engineering in order to shorten development timelines. Acquire ground and software-intensive systems in smaller more manageable pieces that can be delivered faster.

Drive shorter development cycles to achieve quicker solutions.

Drive Contract Scope to Three Years or Less from Start to Launch:

Capitalize on government research and development, industry internal research and development and corporate commercial investments to create new technologies to incorporate into DAF acquisition programs.

Address program stability by shortening contract timelines to three years or less from authority to proceed to launch.

These four factors will ensure the Space Force can effectively provide mission capabilities faster to warfighters.

New 'warm Jupiter' exoplanet discovered by NASA's planet-hunting satellite

Scientists have found a "warm" planet with twice the mass of Jupiter orbiting a distant dwarf star. The extrasolar planet, or "exoplanet," could be on its way to becoming a so-called "hot Jupiter" by snuggling up to its host star, but only if another planet plays cosmic matchmaker.

With a radius of nearly 1.1 times that of Jupiter and a mass 2.3 times that of the gas giant, this newly discovered exoplanet, designated TOI-4127 b, takes 56.4 days to orbit its host star TOI-4127. The exoplanet's highly eccentric (non-circular) orbit brings it to within around a third of the distance between the Earth and the sun from the star, and its nearly 630 degrees Fahrenheit (332 Celsius) surface temperature means it is classified as a "warm Jupiter."

But, the team thinks this might not be the case for long. Assessing the characteristics of TOI-4127 b the astronomers think it has the capability of becoming a hot Jupiter. But only if another celestial object perturbs its orbit.

TOI-4127 b was discovered by a team of astronomers using NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). TESS is in the midst of surveying around 200,000 bright nearby stars with the aim of spotting exoplanets around them.

TESS does this by observing tiny drops in light caused as these planets cross, or "transit," in front of their host star from its vantage point in a 13.7-day, highly elliptical orbit around Earth.

NASA's TESS satellite is adept at spotting planets with short orbital periods that circle their star in 13 days or less. That's because the telescope has an observing period of 27.4 days and a minimum 13-day orbit should let TESS spot a transiting planet at least twice, the minimum number of transits needed to suspect the presence of a planet.

The method has been highly successful with TESS identifying over 6,200 exoplanet candidates since its launch in April 2018. Of these so-called "TESS Objects of Interest, or TOI" around 3,000 have been confirmed.

Many of the exoplanets spotted by TESS thus far are "hot Jupiters," which are defined as worlds of a similar size to Jupiter or larger that orbit their stars extremely closely at distances of around one-tenth of the distance between the Earth and the sun. This results in orbits of around 10 days or less.

Orbiting a dwarf star slightly more massive than the sun and located around 1061 light-years away from Earth, TOI-4127 b, discovered by astronomers led by Pennsylvania State University (PSU) researcher Arvind F. Gupta, is a little different from those hot Jupiters, for now.

Gupta and his co-authors wrote(opens in new tab) that it's currently thought that warm Jupiters like this exoplanet may spend a fraction of their lives on highly elliptical orbits before shifting to orbits that bring them closer to their stars if they are affected by the gravitational pull of a companion object.

At the moment TOI-4127 b is too widely separated from its star for this interaction to happen between the two, but if it's undergoing a momentum exchange with a currently undiscovered second planet in the system, there is still the chance it may become a hot Jupiter. That means studying this newly discovered exoplanet could be the key to better understanding so-called "hot Jupiter formation pathways."

Biden EPA Administrator Announces New Tailpipe Emission Standards – Will Force Green New Deal Mandates on Cars, Delivery Trucks, Buses, Transit and More!

Joe Biden’s EPA Administrator Michael Regan on Wednesday announced new tailpipe emission standards in an effort to restrict gas-powered vehicles.

Under this plan, Americans will likely be forced to buy electric vehicles, which is exactly what Biden wants.

The new emission standards could force as much as 67% of all new vehicles sales to be electric!

Currently, only 5.8% of vehicles sold in the US are electric, CNBC reported.

“That’s why today, I’m pleased to announce, the strongest ever federal pollution technology standards for both cars and trucks. Together, today’s actions will accelerate our ongoing transition to a clean vehicles future,” Michael Regan said.

“Vocational vehicles, such as delivery trucks, dump trucks, public utility trucks, transit, school buses, and more,” Michael Regan said.

CNBC reported:

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday proposed new tailpipe emissions limits that could require as much as 67% of all new vehicles sold in the U.S. by 2032 to be all-electric, representing the country’s most aggressive climate regulations to date.

The proposed limits would surpass President Joe Biden’s previous commitment to have EVs make up roughly 50% of cars sold by 2030 and accelerate the country’s clean energy transition. The limits would also substantially reduce climate-changing emissions from the transportation sector, the largest source of U.S. greenhouse gases.

Despite a rise in EV sales in the U.S. in recent years, EV sales accounted for only 5.8% of all the 13.8 million new vehicles sold in the country last year, an increase from 3.1% the year before, according to data from the Kelley Blue Book. The U.S. is the world’s third-largest market for EVs behind China and Europe.

Liz Harris expelled from state House

for lying about conspiracy presentation

Republican Rep. Liz Harris was expelled from the Arizona House of Representatives on Wednesday for orchestrating a February meeting in which a member of the public spread wild conspiracy theories claiming that various state and local officials were in on a housing deed money laundering scheme involving a Mexican drug cartel and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Following a House Ethics Committee report released Tuesday that found Harris lied about her actions and that she had engaged in disorderly conduct, violating rules of the Arizona House of Representatives and “damaging the institutional integrity of the House,” the House voted 46-13 on Wednesday to expel her from the chamber. A two-thirds majority is necessary to expel someone from the chamber.

“I stand on honesty and integrity,” Harris told members of the media as she left the chamber on Wednesday. “God knows the truth. If you don’t toe the line, this is what happens.”

Although he said it wasn’t personal, Republican House Speaker Ben Toma, one of the lawmakers implicated in the unproven bribery scheme, voted to expel Harris.

“The only thing we have down here is our word and our integrity, and when that is clearly crossed, when you can no longer count on someone’s word or integrity, they can no longer be an effective legislator,” Toma said after the vote. “They cannot represent their district well, they cannot be part of anything significant. As difficult as it was, it was just the inevitable and also the right thing to do.”

Toma also pointed out that Harris repeatedly lied to the House Ethics Committee.

While Harris claimed during the Ethics Committee hearing that no criminal allegations were made during Jacqueline Breger’s Feb. 23 presentation to the House and Senate elections committees, the panel rejected that claim, finding that the evidence contradicted Harris’s testimony.

Republican Rep. David Livingston, of Peoria, one of the Republicans who voted to oust Harris, urged his colleagues to consider the vote with the weight it deserved.

“This comes down to the integrity, in my opinion, of this institution,” he said. “This is not personal — this is standing up for what’s right, no matter how difficult it is. And it hurts. And it should hurt. And it will hurt. This institution is more important than us individually.”

Harris’ replacement will be determined by the District 13 Republican precinct committeemen and the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The precinct committeemen have five days to nominate three possible replacements, to ultimately be chosen and appointed by the county board.

Harris faced the House Ethics Committee on March 30, after Democrats asked for her to be formally censured for inviting real estate agent Breger to a Feb. 23 joint House and Senate elections committee meeting.

Breger provided no proof of her wild and unfounded allegations, including that Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs was involved in the money laundering scheme, but that didn’t stop them from spreading like wildfire, fueled by fringe conservative media. Many Republican members of the legislature soon distanced themselves from Harris and Breger’s presentation.

The Ethics Committee found that many of the claims that Harris made during its hearing were untrue, including that she was not aware that Breger would make criminal allegations during her presentation, and that she was surprised by the content of Breger’s presentation.

Scottsdale Republican Rep. Alexander Kolodin, who was present for the Feb. 23 elections committee meeting, said that while he was disappointed in Harris’s actions, he does not believe expelling her was the right call.

“This makes her a martyr for these awful allegations,” Kolodin said. “It’s setting the precedent that, if you rock the boat too much, you will be expelled.”

Republican Rep. Joseph Chaplik, who heads the Ethics Committee that recommended Harris be punished, also voted against her expulsion.

Minority Leader Andres Cano thanked the Ethics Committee and Toma for taking this matter seriously.

“This is a sad and somber day for our institution, but it is a necessary day,” Cano said. “This did real and lasting damage to the lives and reputations of people who did not deserve it.”

He voted to expel Harris, Cano said, with the hope of restoring integrity and honor to the House of Representatives.

The Arizona House last kicked out a legislator in 2018 when it expelled Republican Rep. Don Shooter because of a lengthy pattern of sexual misconduct, according to the Associated Press.

No matter what you think about @LizHarrisMBA, expelling her from the legislature is ridiculous. It totally disenfranchises the people in LD13 as the people who voted her in are NOT the people who are expelling her. Instead of a recall by the voters of her district, 45 people who live in other parts of the state decided that LD13 will be underserved. And it is especially stupid on the part of the GOP as we had a one vote majority that “Republican leadership” just gave up. #SoDumb
