Arizona lawmakers approve bill vetting voters for citizenship before they can vote

Arizona lawmakers approved new voter restrictions that supporters said ensure only U.S. citizens can cast ballots but opponents said will wipe countless voters off the state’s rolls.

A unanimous Republican caucus approved House Bill 2492 on Wednesday in the Senate, sending the legislation to Gov. Doug Ducey for consideration.

While Arizona is one of the few states that already require proof of citizenship before registering to vote, residents can bypass that by registering for a federal-only ballot under the National Voter Registration Act and can vote on federal contests.

HB 2492 would require counties to check those individuals for citizenship against multiple databases. Counties must reject any federal applications if they find the individual is not a U.S. citizen. Any official knowingly ignoring the requirement could be charged with a Class 6 felony.

Democrats accused Republicans of seeking to purge the voter rolls as revenge for the 2020 general election, where President Joe Biden narrowly defeated former President Donald Trump.

“This is absurd, illogical and discriminatory,” Sen. Sally Ann Gonzales, D-Tucson, said.

Constitutional analysts told GOP lawmakers in another hearing the bill presents some issues that could face a legal challenge. Opponents were quick to note that in debate.

“We are voting on a bill that is unconstitutional and has a tremendous impact on the voters of the state of Arizona,” Sen. Martín Quezada, D-Phoenix, said. “There are many provisions in this bill that are offensive, and that will have a negative impact on some communities more than others."

Republicans said their legislation simply ensures U.S. citizens are the only ones voting in U.S. elections.

“The issue is making sure the citizens of this country are voting,” Sen. Warren Petersen, R-Gilbert, said. “If you’re not a citizen of this country, you’re not allowed to vote. We have over 35,000 people registered to vote where we are not certain whether they’re citizens or not.”

The bill passed along partisan lines. Democrats gathered in Phoenix on Thursday to pressure Ducey to veto the legislation.

Green Party’s Clare Bailey is ecstatic. Her bill, the first of its kind “anywhere in both the UK and Ireland” will effectively ban the act of prayer outside abortion clinics as well as any other last-chance effort to convince women to carry their pregnancies to term.

Bailey, the leader of the Green Party of Northern Ireland, has been pushing for her Abortion Services Safe Access Zones Bill since 2016. The legislation, which now only requires a procedural rubberstamp from the queen, will make an effort to persuade women to forgo the life-terminating procedure a violation of the law—even if such effort comes in the form of offering to help, or, through prayer, is directed at God.

Celebrating the bill’s success, members of the Northern Ireland Assembly danced, screamed, and hugged each other in exuberance.

Not everyone in Assembly was happy, however. James Allister, a British Unionist member, spoke despondently about what it meant for the morals of society to not only accept the practice of abortion but also prevent any attempt to dissuade women from undergoing it.

“A woman’s womb should be the safest possible place for the unborn,” he said. “Yet, with abortion, it is the most dangerous place for the unborn, because it is there, in the womb, that, consciously, deliberately and by choice, death is visited on the unborn.”

According to the final revisions of the legislation, a constable will be authorized to warn, order the removal of, or use the necessary force to remove violators in the “safe zone.”

Actions that will be considered in violation of the law include influencing women seeking abortion directly or indirectly, impeding access, recording audio or video of women who are within the safe zone, or harassment. Due to the incredibly broad array of actions that might indirectly influence a woman within the safe zone, actions such as prayer for the end of abortion or for the souls of the unborn would be in violation of this law.

Those who violate the law will be fined up to £1,000.

Those who refuse to vacate the premises or resist enforcement of the law will receive a summary conviction and fine not exceeding £5,000.

The Commander-in-Chief appears to be implying U.S. troop deployment, during his Poland visit.

U.S. President Joe Biden spoke to U.S. troops in Poland today, clumsily hinting at the possibility of U.S. troop deployment in Ukraine.

Speaking to members of the 82nd Airborne Division in Poland, Biden briefly discussed his own political history with Ukraine, before going on to blurt out:

“The Ukrainian people have a lot of backbone. Have a lot of guts. And I’m sure you’re observing it. And I don’t mean just the military, we’ve been training back since when Russia moved in… and and… the south east, um, Ukraine. But also the average citizen. Look at how they’re stepping up. And you’re going to see when you’re there, and some of you have been there. You’re going to see women, young people standing in the middle, in the front of a damn tank saying I’m not leaving. I’m holding my ground. They’re incredible.”

Joe Bidens words have already caused consternation online, raising questions about possible U.S. troop deployment into Ukraine. Others speculation that Biden may have been speaking out of turn or misspeaking, as is often the case with the aging U.S. President.

The news comes a day after news broke of Biden’s son Hunter and his deep links to Ukrainian biolabs which just weeks ago the corporate media derided as “conspiracy theories.”

Russian Central Bank Starts Buying Gold

A day after Biden and his pals in Brussels discussed ways to stop Russia utilizing its gold reserves to maintain some stability in an increasingly chaotic economy, the Bank of Russia has just announced plans to begin buying gold from its banks at a fixed price.

This could serve two purposes: 1) provide a path to liquidity for SWIFT-constrained banks, and 2) centralize more of the nation's gold as Putin accelerates his de-dollarization plans.

Full Bank of Russia statement:

In order to balance supply and demand in the domestic precious metals market, the Bank of Russia will buy gold from credit institutions at a fixed price from March 28, 2022.

The price from March 28 to June 30, 2022 inclusive will be 5,000 rubles per 1 gram.

The established price level makes it possible to ensure a stable supply of gold and the smooth functioning of the gold mining industry in the current year.

After the specified period, the purchase price of gold can be adjusted taking into account the emerging balance of supply and demand in the domestic market.

The buying price, as the chart below shows, is significantly below the current market price...

Have you heard about Aperture 2025?

It may sound like a Roland Emmerich sci-fi movie, but it’s actually more frightening. And much more controversial. It’s the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’s latest initiative to make Hollywood more equitable and diverse—more woke—by changing the rules by which films are eligible for Best Picture nominations. Here’s how it works: Starting in 2024, producers will be required to submit a summation of the race, gender, sexual orientation, and disability status of members of their movie’s cast and crew. If a particular movie does not have enough people of color or disabled people or gays or lesbians working on the set—and what is “enough” will be determined by a knotty tangle of byzantine formularies—then that movie will no longer be eligible for an Oscar.

Not surprisingly, the plan is not being universally applauded in Hollywood. Critics say it’s invasive, anticreative, opens the door to privacy issues, and is spectacularly unfair to actors and crew members, who may want to keep their sexual orientation or health profiles to themselves, not to mention to producers and directors who have enough to worry about while shooting a movie than to be saddled with the thankless task of tallying up the identity markers of their creative partners.

“I mean, why aren’t animals in this?” sneers one industry insider. “What if the main character is a horse?”

Unfortunately, Aperture 2025 isn’t the only Academy initiative to recently raise eyebrows in Hollywood. In February, Oscar organizers triggered a civil war in Hollywood over a plan to pretape many of the below-the-line categories—film editing, makeup and hairstyling, original score, production design, the short-film selections—and roll edits of those awards into the live broadcast. Predictably, many Academy members (especially film editors, makeup and hairstylists, and production designers) balked at the change, but at least that one was designed to address an actual existential threat to the ceremony: that it’s become so long and boring that huge swaths of the audience have begun tuning out.

“The Academy was out of touch with the public when it was mostly white, and it remained so when it became somewhat less white.”

Last year, the Oscars drew an all-time low of 9.85 million viewers—less than what an episode of The Big Bang Theory used to get. Granted, the pandemic and the resulting dearth of theatrical releases contributed to the decline, but the truth is, Oscar ratings began plummeting long before COVID-19. At its height in the 1990s, the ceremony was pulling in as many as 55 million viewers in the United States. Even into the 2000s, it was drawing at least 40 million. But by the 2010s, the numbers started falling into the 30 millions and, by that decade’s end, had dropped further, into the 20 millions. The audience for the last pre-pandemic Oscars, in February 2020, was 23.6 million, less than half of its one-time peak.

There’s no shortage of theories to explain why viewers are turning off to the Oscars: The shrinking of movie actors as cultural icons (as TikTok and Instagram stars become the ascendant media gods); the reluctance of the Academy to update the ceremony, which has remained substantially unchanged since it was first broadcast in 1953; the growing chasm between the esoteric tastes of the Academy’s voting members (who this year nominated Drive My Car, a Japanese drama about a grieving theater director putting on a production of Uncle Vanya in Hiroshima) and the preferences of the wider theatergoing public (who likes Spider-Man).

Whatever the reason, the conclusion is inescapable: The Oscars are tanking. And no matter how well-intentioned Aperture 2025 may be, the initiative isn’t going to fix that problem. On the contrary, at this rate, by 2025, filmmakers with even the most equitable and diverse sets may not give a damn whether their films are eligible for an Oscar or not because hardly anyone will be watching.

On the one-month anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine by Vladimir Putin’s forces, the Kremlin claimed that everything is going “according to plan” and that life is “returning to normal” for the areas “liberated” by Russia.

Despite reports of heavy losses for the world’s fifth-largest military, allegedly including numerous generals killed in the field, as well as a recent high-profile defection from a Putin advisor, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has claimed that all is going as planned in the so-called “special military operation” in Ukraine.

“Exactly one month since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine; it is going according to plan, and all the stated goals will be achieved,” Zakharova said per the official account for the MFA on Twitter.

“Life is returning to normal in the territories already liberated from nationalists,” the diplomat added.

Russia has so far failed to secure the breakaway regions in the Donbas — which border Russia and have long been controlled by Russian mercenaries and separatists — with fighting continuing to rage in Donetsk and Luhansk. Prior to the invasion, Russian leader Vladimir Putin recognised the two eastern Ukrainian regions as independent.

Though Russia launched a multi-pronged invasion on the 25th of March, some Western officials have said that Putin may abandon his efforts to take Kyiv (Kiev) and on the other fronts in the west of Ukraine in order to consolidate the Russian Armed Forces efforts in the Donbas.

“I think what’s clear is that the original Russian plan of being able to have three separate [axes] of manoeuvre, operate them all simultaneously, and achieve their objectives quickly has been frustrated. So whilst we’ll see continued bombardment of key cities, I think it likely that we’ll see a concentration of manoeuvre operations in the east,” a Western official told The Times of London.

British intelligence has also claimed that there is a “realistic” situation in which Russian soldiers “facing considerable supply and morale issues” might be encircled and potentially routed by Ukrainian forces surrounding Kyiv.

It is currently unclear exactly how many Russian soldiers have died during the invasion, though a NATO official has claimed that the death toll likely stands between 7,000 and 15,000, with up to 40,000 either captured, missing, wounded, or killed.

Russia, for its part, has only officially admitted to 498 deaths. However, on Sunday, a pro-Kremlin paper Komsomolskaya Pravda published a quickly deleted article on its website claiming that 9,861 Russian soldiers have died so far. The paper went on to assert that it was hacked. Ukrainian state media has claimed that around 15,300 Russians have been killed in the fighting.

Reports have also indicated that as many as 20 Russian generals have died in the field — however, this figure is unconfirmed and widely disputed, with Putin only admitting to the death of one general to date.

Whoopi Goldberg Demands British Royal Family Apologise for Empire, Slavery

American chatshow host Whoopi Goldberg has called for the British royal family to apologise for the British Empire and its role in the slave trade.

Caryn Johnson, who uses the stage name Whoopi Goldberg, demanded the royals atone for historic British colonialism and accused Britain of running “ram shod [sic] over India for years.”

“Let us not forget when we talk about what needs to happen, all the folks that need to apologise,” Goldberg told the audience of The View.

Goldberg went on to incorrectly suggest that Prince Charles had previously apologised for slavery during his trip to Barbados in November 2021, claiming this was his way of “releasing the hold that Britain has” over Barbados.

However, while the Prince of Wales acknowledged “the appalling atrocity of slavery” he did not apologise for it, GB News reports — perhaps unsurprisingly, given he was born in 1948, well over 100 years after abolition.

The 66-year-old chatshow host’s comments come after Prince William and his wife faced protests calling for the removal of Queen Elizabeth II as Jamaica’s head of state during their visit to the island nation as part of a royal tour celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Protestors held provocative anti-royal signs including messages such as “Go back home”, “Princesses and Princes belong in fairytales… not in Jamaica”, “apologise”, and calls for reparations.

Members of the Caribbean island’s Rastafarian community also accused the royals of profiting from the “blood, tears and sweat” of Jamaican people — despite Britain having given Jamaica tens of millions of pounds worth of financial aid just since 2017.

Speaking to Breitbart London, GB News presenter Calvin Robinson lambasted Goldberg for her comments.

“Critical Race Theory is a divisive, toxic ideology that stirs up racial tensions. It’s a self-perpetuating cycle of hatred. The worst thing is, you can never be woke enough — these theories force people to attack themselves and each other”, Robinson said.

“Take for example, Whoopi Goldberg, clearly not her real name. By the rules of CRT, Caryn Elaine Johnson has culturally appropriated a Jewish name. For that, should she apologise for her ‘white supremacy’?” Robinson suggested.

“Aren’t we getting a little tired of celebrities and their virtue signalling? Didn’t Whoopi learn her lesson the last time she engaged in politics and ended up having to apologise for her anti-Semitism?”

Goldberg was suspended from ABC for two weeks following outlandish remark in which she said the extermination of six million Jews in the Holocaust was “not about race”.

“Let’s be truthful, the Holocaust isn’t about race, it’s not. It’s about man’s inhumanity to man, that’s what it’s about. These are two groups of white people,” Goldberg said in what some saw as an effort to diminish the suffering faced by the Jewish people because of their perceived status as “white”.

Just days after President Zelensky nationalized all TV media in order to "tell the truth about the war," the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense was caught sharing fake video game footage they claimed was the Ukrainian Army "skillfully eliminating" four Russian Ka-52 helicopters.

"In the Kherson region this morning calculations of air defense of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine skillfully eliminated four K-52 helicopters of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation," the Ukrainian MoD tweeted early Thursday. "We are proud of Ukrainian soldiers [two heart symbol emojis]."

The footage is actually from the video game ARMA 3 and was released just days ago by a YouTuber who goes by Norov.

How is CFA’s work important to you?

In my life I've always wanted to be engaged in doing something for my community and the country. Wherever I am, I feel that drive. I have worked in D.C. and took that on with great gusto. In coming to Arizona, I immediately felt this was home and I wanted to engage in important ways. Being engaged is in where I am is meaningful to me. I don't really know where that comes from, but that's just something I really like.

What do you love about Arizona?

Like so many people, I love the natural beauty here. I'm a big hiker. I walk outside and it just makes me feel happy; it's so beautiful. I'm from theEast Coastand I just fell in love with the desert and I love its sense of openness. I love the sense of kind of freedom and independence. It's a welcoming place. Arizona has a fresh and open sense, but there is also rich a heritage that goes back thousands of years. There aren’t a lot of constraints on what you can imagine and do here. If you work really hard, you can actually make a difference.

What’s your story? What was your path to CFA?

In a straightforward, practical sense, I moved to Arizona with my husband who was appointed president of ASU. I had worked professionally my whole life and I was curious about what kind of professional work I could do in Arizona. The previous president of ASU, Lattie Coor, was stepping aside. Lattie and I had lunch one day and had a meeting of the minds. He had this idea for Center for the Future of Arizona. With his area of expertise and my background in public policy, it seemed like the perfect thing for me. It gave me an opportunity to get immediately engaged in the things that I love to do.

How does your work impact CFA?

My role has evolved over time since Lattie and I started CFA. At the beginning I was part of the building and conceptualization. As we started to grow, we needed to hire some staff. Now, as the leader of the organization, I set the strategic direction and make sure all the pieces come together so that we can succeed.

When did you first consider Arizona home to you?

I felt at home here pretty much right away. We moved here fromNew York Cityand I just fell in love with it. I had lived inCaliforniaand spent some time inNew Mexicobefore. I just love the dry air and the colors of the Southwest.

How do you hope to impact Arizona through your work at CFA?

I would love to see people feeling a greater attachment and love for Arizona. I think Arizonans are very independent people and that’s what attracts people here. But we also have to recognize that we have a shared interest in the future. We have all these things in common that we care about, despite our different interests and different cultures. If people could be prouder of Arizona, then we can work together to build a bright future for this state.

Ukrainian refugees find a path into the U.S. via the Mexican border

Russians fleeing sanctions and Putin's regime have also been flocking to the U.S. southern border.

Thousands of Ukrainians and Russians who have fled the war and sanctions in their home countries are increasingly entering the United States via the southern border, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

Many such migrants have chosen to use Mexico as a transit point because they do not need a visa to fly directly to Mexico, unlike the United States, and once they make it across the border onto U.S. soil, they can request asylum and begin the legal process.

In January and February, about 30,000 Ukrainians and Russians arrived in Mexico, compared with an entire year average of about 12,400 over the last five years, according to Mexican immigration data. Thousands more migrants from both Ukraine and Russia are expected in the coming months.

The U.S.-Mexican border is technically closed to asylum seekers due to a public-health rule designed, in theory, to curb the spread of COVID-19, but immigration officers at the border have been told that because of the war, they may offer exemptions to refugees from Ukraine.

In a memo outlining the issue, the Department of Homeland Security wrote that it "recognizes that the unjustified Russian war of aggression has created a humanitarian crisis." For the majority of arriving Ukrainians, this means they will be allowed to stay in the country for at least one year under a measure called "humanitarian parole." During that time, they will not be required to apply for asylum.

On Thursday, President Joe Biden announced that the U.S. plans to accept 100,000 Ukrainian refugees. It is unclear when individuals who fall into that official category will begin to arrive.

A Lebanese judge charged in absentia Central Bank governor Riad Salame with illicit enrichment and money laundering only days after ordering the arrest of his brother on similar charges.

The case reportedly relates to the purchase of Paris apartments that were sometimes rented out to the Central Bank, Judge Ghada Aoun told Reuters on Monday.

With his wealth under scrutiny in a number of European countries, Salame has consistently denied any wrongdoing, and has attributed his wealth to family inheritances and his commercial banking career before joining the Central Bank.

Rumors of the governor’s offshore wealth have swirled around Lebanon for years, but allegations of money laundering and embezzlement against governor Salame have gained momentum since 2020 when OCCRP and its Lebanese media partner Daraj published two investigations uncovering the extent of his offshore investments.

The first revealed that offshore companies owned by Riad Salame have quietly invested nearly US$100 million in overseas assets, focusing on real estate in the U.K., Belgium and Germany, even as Salame encouraged others to keep their money in his economically devastated country.

The second uncovered how a company tied to Salame bought a stake in his son’s London-based financial management company, then sold it to a major Lebanese bank that he regulates.

Since then, authorities in France, Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Luxembourg have launched probes into Salame’s personal wealth, and possible embezzlement to the detriment of the Lebanese Central Bank.

Salame’s associates, including his assistant Marianne Houwayek, and his relatives, including his now-detained brother Raja, are also at the center of these probes.

Lebanon is in the midst of a financial crisis that has plummeted its currency and worsened poverty and unemployment, prompting widespread unrest.

Salame has sat at the head of the Central Bank for almost three decades.

Cybercriminal Connected to Multimillion Dollar Ransomware Attacks Sentenced for Online Fraud Schemes

An Estonian man was sentenced today to 66 months in prison for his years-long role in furthering and facilitating computer intrusions, the movement of fraudulently obtained goods and funds, and the monetization of stolen financial account information. He also participated in ransomware attacks causing over $53 million in losses and was ordered to pay over $36 million in restitution.

According to court documents, Maksim Berezan, 37, of Estonia, who was apprehended in Latvia and extradited to the United States, pleaded guilty in April 2021 to conspiracy to commit wire fraud affecting a financial institution and conspiracy to commit access device fraud and computer intrusions. Berezan was an active member of an exclusive online forum designed for Russian-speaking cybercriminals to gather safely and exchange their criminal knowledge, tools, and services. From 2009 through 2015, Berezan not only furthered the criminal aims of the forum, but he also worked closely with forum members and other cybercriminals for purposes of obtaining and exploiting stolen financial account information.

“This case is a prime example of how the Department of Justice can leverage its traditional tools – criminal investigations and prosecutions – to combat ransomware,” said Assistant Attorney General Kenneth A. Polite Jr. of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division. “Many of the world’s ransomware players began as fraudsters engaged in other types of online crimes, and this case demonstrates that their crimes will catch up to them. The United States is committed to working with its international partners to hold cybercriminals accountable.”

“Cybercrime has become increasingly more sophisticated, but so have our methods for combatting it,” said U.S. Attorney Jessica D. Aber for the Eastern District of Virginia. “Ransomware attacks are devastating to people and organizations alike, and we have honed our strategies and techniques to target both the individual actors who perpetrate these attacks and the networks that support them. This case is just one example of how EDVA and the Justice Department are tackling this threat.”

“The Secret Service remains committed to ensuring that modern conveniences of today that facilitate our lawful transactions and economic health are not leveraged by criminals for illicit activity and personal gain,” said Special Agent in Charge Matthew Stohler of the U.S. Secret Service. “While we have long been in the business of protecting money, from the earliest days of coins and paper, to plastic, and today’s more accessible and commonplace digital currencies, we also remain in parallel footprint to the evolution of criminal behavior into cyberspace. Together with our critical partners we are dedicated to protecting the public and securing every iteration of our money and every part of our national financial infrastructure.”

According to court documents, following Berezan’s arrest, investigators uncovered within his electronic devices evidence of his involvement in ransomware activities. The post-extradition investigation determined that Berezan had participated in at least 13 ransomware attacks, seven of which were against U.S. victims, and that approximately $11 million in ransom payments flowed into cryptocurrency wallets that he controlled. FBI agents arrest Fort Bliss soldier accused of distributing child rape videos

FBI agents in El Paso arrested a Fort Bliss soldier Tuesday accused of distributing child rape videos while claiming to be a school teacher in pedophile online forums.

Staff Sgt. Brendan Jacob Bradford, 26, was arrested on a federal charge of receiving and distributing visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of children, the FBI said.

In late February, the FBI office in El Paso received a complaint alleging Bradford had been distributing child pornography on social media platforms for three months, the FBI said in a news release.

Teacher claim in child porn groups

Bradford is accused of sharing graphic videos showing the rapes of an infant boy and a young girl as a member of private online forums sharing child sexual abuse material on the Kik social messaging app.

The pedophile groups were infiltrated by an undercover investigator with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin, which contacted the FBI, according to a federal criminal complaint.

Since December, the undercover investigator communicated with Bradford, who allegedly went by the username “sicktwisted_(expletive),” according to the criminal complaint.

According to the complaint, Bradford allegedly claimed to be a social studies teacher with desires to kidnap and sexually abuse children. Moscow offers update on casualties from Ukraine conflict

More than 1,300 servicemen have been killed and nearly 4,000 injured in the offensive in Ukraine, the Russian military says

The Russian Defense Ministry provided a rare update on the casualties the country's armed forces have suffered during the ongoing military offensive in Ukraine, on Friday.

“Unfortunately, during the special military operation there have been losses among our comrades-in-arms. To date, 1,351 servicemen have died and 3,825 have been injured,” the deputy head of the Russian General Staff, Colonel General Sergey Rudskoy told a media briefing.

The official did not provide any figures on soldiers who have potentially gone missing in action or been taken prisoner amid the conflict. The Ukrainian side has sustained heavy casualties (around 30,000) over the past month, Rudskoy clarified. According to Russian military estimates, around 14,000 Ukrainian troops have been killed, and a further 16,000 have been injured.

Ukraine’s military has sustained major losses in hardware, with nearly 1,600 tanks and other armored vehicles destroyed, he alleged, adding that the Russian offensive has largely destroyed Kiev’s air and anti-aircraft forces, while its navy has effectively ceased to exist.

The official casualty figures provided by the Russian military differ drastically from the estimates from the Ukrainian side. According to the latest claims by Kiev, around 16,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in the conflict, with hundreds of tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery pieces destroyed.

Kiev, however, remains tight-lipped on its own casualties. The most recent figure was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky in mid-March, when he said that around 1,300 Ukrainian soldiers had died in combat.

Moscow sent troops into Ukraine in late February, following a seven-year standoff over Kiev’s failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements, and Russia’s eventual recognition of the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. The German- and French-brokered Minsk Protocol was designed to regularize the status of the regions within the Ukrainian state.

Russia has now demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join NATO. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked and has denied claims it was planning to retake the two republics by force.

Callahan’s name appears many times on Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop, which makes sense as Rosemont Seneca Partners and Rosemont Realty are both offshoots of Rosemont Capital, an investment fund founded in 2009 by Hunter Biden and Christopher Heinz, John Kerry’s stepson.

Metabiota was a subcontractor for Black & Veach, which signed contracts for the construction and operation of biolabs in Ukraine, Georgia and elsewhere. Google was also involved, having contributed at least $1 million to the effort.

Wolfe is a World Economic Forum (WEF) Young Global Leader, it turns out (as is Ivanka Trump). In 2021, WEF awarded Metabiota for being a “Technology Pioneer.”

He also sat on the editorial board of EcoHealth Alliance, as well as on Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA) Defense Science Research Council (DSRC).

Wolfe has received more than $20 million worth of funding from Google.org, The Skoll Foundation, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the National Geographic Society, Merck Research Laboratories and various branches of the DoD.

Two of the core partners in USAID’s PREDICT project, which involved creating an early warning system for new and emerging diseases in 21 countries – including coronaviruses spread by bats, were none other than EcoHealth and Metabiota, with Wolfe being one of the project’s co-authors.

Together with Peter Daszak, Wolfe put together what would become a study on coronaviruses in bats that was published in 2017 right around the time Donald Trump became president.

“PREDICT was a forerunner of the more ambitious Global Virome Project,” reported the Exposé, adding that GVP is a founding member of The Trinity Challenge, which was launched in conjunction with Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organization (WHO).

“Although Wolfe was one of initiators of GVP in 2018, on their website he isn’t shown as being directly involved,” the Exposé further revealed. “However, Edward Rubin, Metabiota’s chief scientific officer, is a board member of GVP. And it was Rubin who, in 2016, attended a Rockefeller Foundation forum alongside Daszak to discuss the GVP.”

The news outlet added: “In an interesting twitter thread – linking Wolfe and Metabiota to EcoHealth, DARPA, the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the World Economic Forum – HashTigre shared an image of page from a book Wolfe wrote in 2012 titled, ‘The Viral Storm: The Dawn of a New Pandemic Age,’ where he thanked friends including deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and biotech venture capitalist Boris Nikolic.”

Nikolic was named as the “back-up executor” on Epstein’s will, it turns out, and Wolfe has been spotted in photographs hanging out with Ghislaine Maxwell.

“Always nice to see a name from Epstein/Maxwell associate Nathan Wolfe’s CIA funded company Metabiota – as the first name on an article related to dangerous virus collection tactics/research in China,” HashTigre tweeted.

Russian Ministry of Defense: Hunter Biden, George Soros, Pentagon and CDC involved in Ukrainian biolabs

Russia’s Ministry of Defense (MOD) released a trove of documents Thursday claiming to show proof of the Pentagon developing and operating illegal biolabs in Ukraine.

In a public MOD statement, the Russians alleged US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter, notorious globalist billionaire George Soros, the CDC and others were directly involved in the biolab scheme.

While we don’t need Russia to tell us about these connections, which have been recently detailed by several outlets, it is a major update that Russia is calling out the corruption on the world stage.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, documents obtained from Ukrainian scientists working at the US-funded labs demonstrate “the UP-2 biological project” was developed and approved by the Pentagon.

“The main objective of this project was to carry out a molecular analysis of particularly dangerous infections endemic to Ukraine,” the Russian MOD states. “This work involved sampling the pathogen from old animal burial grounds to obtain new anthrax strains.”

Whistleblower exposes Microsoft’s massive foreign bribery network

Employee claims half the tech giant’s salespeople & managers were involved in $200mn annual kickback scheme

Tech behemoth Microsoft is bribing clients in the Middle East and Africa on a massive scale, according to whistleblower Yasser Elabd, a 20-year employee of the firm who published his testimony on Friday on the website Lioness.

Elabd claims the company spends more than $200 million annually on bribes and kickback schemes in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and Ghana, among other countries. Worse, he says, more than half the managers and salespeople in those regions are involved in the graft – as many as 70% – and anyone who tries to stop the culture of ripoffs is shut out of good deals and ultimately muscled out of the company.

While the scams took different forms, they often involved governments paying millions of dollars for software they never received, or “receiving” hefty discounts that never hit the customer’s balance sheet; the missing money would end up split between the Microsoft employees and government figures involved in the deal and the subcontractor, Elabd said.

“It's going on at all levels. All the executives are aware of it, and they're promoting the bad people,” the former executive told The Verge on Friday. “If you’re doing the right thing, they won’t promote you.” He claims to have spoken to five other employees who were similarly punished for raising the alarm about fraud.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission and Department of Justice previously investigated claims involving Microsoft receiving similar types of bribes in Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Thailand, ultimately hammering out a $25.3 million settlement with the software firm in return for the company promising to terminate its contracts with a specific partner, among other stipulations.

Despite company president Brad Smith’s mea culpa letter sent to employees afterwards, in which he called the graft “completely unacceptable” and demanded stronger oversight, Elabd argues the problem has only grown, noting Microsoft is still working with the blacklisted partner through an intermediary.

While Elabd was able to stonewall a similar bribery episode in Nigeria, he was subsequently called in by a manager and eviscerated for his meddling, dubbed a “blocker” and ordered to “turn your head and leave it as is” if he encountered anything else “suspicious.” Apparently marked with some kind of scarlet letter from then on, he found himself shut out of lucrative deals, had travel requests denied, and was shunted to a “performance improvement plan.” He refused to subject himself to that indignity, a move that ultimately cost him his job.

That hasn’t stopped Elabd from tracking further fraud and bribery at Microsoft and its subcontractors. He claims to have documented bribes to Microsoft and its subcontractors from Qatar, Cameroon, and South Africa, and has forwarded that information directly to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Unlike before, he says, the SEC and the US Department of Justice (DOJ) appear uninterested in pursuing the matter, even though he has submitted the evidence three times. For its part, Microsoft has blamed the pandemic for its failure or refusal to gather more evidence from abroad – evidence he says they don't actually need because he has provided it.

Microsoft has essentially achieved a monopoly over workplace software on the African continent, Elabd said in his claim, pointing out that governments working with Microsoft were “throwing away millions of public dollars on unused Microsoft products so a few select officials, partners, and employees can enrich themselves.”

As the manager told me all those years ago, all that matters is that Microsoft earns as much money as possible … The hidden message to employees is, ‘Do whatever you want, make as much money as you can, and the worst that can happen is you'll get fired’.

Microsoft insisted it had “previously investigated these allegations, which are many years old, and addressed them,” VP and deputy general counsel for compliance and ethics Becky Lenaburg told The Verge in response to Elabd’s claims. The company stressed it was committed to “ethical practices” and said its employees are all required to take “standards of business” classes that teach them how to report bribery incidents.

German bank ‘thoroughly investigates’ misconduct allegations

Deutsche Bank AG fired a number of top bankers in New York after a tab run up at a strip club was expensed as legitimate business spending, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

Ben Darsney, former Americas head of equity capital markets, Ravi Raghunathan, Brandon Sun and Daniel Gaona were fired after seeking reimbursement for a restaurant visit, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing a private matter. Once the bank discovered the issue, it decided to terminate the executives, the people said. The firings were first reported by Bloomberg News on Thursday.

“Deutsche Bank thoroughly investigates allegations of possible misconduct comprehensively and without bias,” a spokesperson for the Frankfurt-based bank said in an emailed statement. “We do not condone violations of our code of conduct or company policy and take remedial action as appropriate based on the severity of circumstances.” The bank declined to comment further on the circumstances of the matter.

Darsney, Raghunathan, Sun and Gaona didn’t respond to requests for comment. Darsney and Raghunathan were managing directors while Sun was a director and Gaona an associate.

Deutsche Bank Chief Executive Officer Christian Sewing is seeking to improve the bank’s controls after a string of mishaps, including that it recently breached a deferred prosecution agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice after it was slow in reporting allegations by a whistleblower. Both parties agreed to extend an existing monitorship until February 2023 after the DOJ found Deutsche Bank in violation of the deal.

The bank has had to plough additional money into improving controls after criticism from regulators it’s doing too little.

Russia says all of its reserves are held in the country’s central bank vaults

The Russian central bank on Friday dismissed media speculation that gold reserves have been taken out of the country and are being held abroad. Western media began reporting the rumor after the US and EU authorities hinted of possible sanctions targeting Russian gold.

“All the gold from our gold and foreign exchange reserves is in the vaults of the Bank of Russia on the territory of our country,” the regulator stated on its website.

The central bank explained that gold and foreign exchange reserves are a tool with which the regulator can protect the country's economy from external threats. In particular, they can become a source of funds to cover the cost of foreign exchange debt, stabilize the foreign exchange market and help pay for critical imports.

Earlier this month, the US and its allies froze roughly half of Russia’s reserves, worth $300 billion, as part of sanctions over Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine. However, the remainder of the country’s reserves, which includes physical gold, is secure, according to the Bank of Russia.

Why does Russia have an interest in the Iranian pipeline? Russia is an oil/gas nation. In fact 80 per cent of the gas that Russian state-controlled company Gazprom produces is sold to Europe, so maintaining this crucial market is very important. Russia needs to stay a player in the European market for gas. However, the United States and Europe have been pushing for Europe to decrease their dependency on Russian gas. Russia tends to use it’s gas as a weapon of leverage in international affairs and has a history of cutting off gas to country’s in conflict. Qatar is home to a U.S. military base, so the idea of a new gas line running from Qatar to supply Europe would be in direct competition with Russia originating in a country unfriendly to Russia. But an Iranian pipeline is a pipeline that Russia can work with as Iran and Russia are friendly. It’s also worth noting that Saudi Arabia is currently bombing Yemen, a country they would also like to build a pipeline through. Middle East Eye columnist Nafeez Ahmed, citing a 2008 State Department cable from Wikileaks, has confirmed the Saudi interest in building a pipeline that is “wholly owned, operated and protected by Saudi Arabia, through Hadramawt (Yemen) to a port on the Gulf of Aden.” So the mideast is all about pipelines. Looking at mideast affairs through the lens of pipelines starts to clear things up.

Ron DeSantis Signs Bill to Ensure Curriculum Transparency for Parents: ‘We’re Doing Education, Not Indoctrination’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill on Friday designed to ensure curriculum transparency for parents, promising “education, not indoctrination” in the Sunshine State.

DeSantis, who has deemed it the “year of the parent” in Florida, briefly went over some of the key objectives the Sunshine State has reached over the past few years in its fight to champion parents over bureaucrats. One of the first things he did when he took office, DeSantis noted, was eliminate Common Core; and more recently, that has come to further fruition with the elimination of the Florida Statewide Assessment (FSA). Florida is also “very proud” to have had schools open, even when many places kept them closed.

“And this is just a situation where we either had to do what was right for the kids or subcontract out everything to Fauci, and we were not willing to do that in Florida. People like Fauci were wrong. They wanted these schools closed indefinitely,” DeSantis said.

They also passed the Parents’ Bill of Rights, and part of that, DeSantis said, was not allowing school districts to force mask children.

“Parents want education for their kids,” not indoctrination, the governor continued, detailing how the Chinese coronavirus pandemic created a shift as more parents began going to school board meetings to ask tough questions. The Biden administration, working with the National School Board Association, “didn’t like parents having a voice,” he said, noting the letter from the National School Board Association, “engineered” by Biden and unions, which characterized parents as domestic terrorists.

“There is a debate in this country about what role parents have in the education of their kids,” he said, making it clear that Florida believes parents have a “fundamental” role.

“And that’s how it’s going to be in the state of Florida,” he said before laying out what he described as “probably the strongest curriculum transparency legislation in the country.”

“And what this is going to do, is it is going to require transparency with respect to the materials that are being taught in classrooms” or in school libraries, he explained. “And so if that’s something that is going to be used, that is something a parent would have the right to understand and know that’s going out there.”

“It also provides an ability for parents to review this and lodge objections if they find the material to either deviate from state standards or just be inappropriate,” he said, noting they have seen some “incredibly, incredibly disturbing stuff” in some middle school libraries.

The legislation, he added, also sets curriculum standards in terms of teacher professional development and the curriculum, making sure they align with required instruction and state standards. He used Common Core and Critical Race Theory as examples of material that is a no-go.

“We want to make sure again we’re doing education, not indoctrination,” he said, describing the legislation as “a really significant win for parents.”

American media personalities have been arguing over “cancel culture” for years, from the pages of Harper’s Magazine and the New York Times opinion section to HBO’s Bill Maher and former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo. The debate can be framed as either one about stifling free speech or attempts to escape accountability for objectionable words or behavior. Conservative personalities have also been accused of hypocrisy in invoking the term; there’s a wave of states considering or enacting laws that would limit what schools can teach about race in classrooms.

Putin’s speech Friday wasn’t the first time Russian officials wielded the term as a critique of the West to defend their actions in Ukraine against mounting global outrage.

“It’s all part of the same game, the term ‘cancel culture,’” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during a speech Wednesday at a university in Moscow. “So, I think what now is going on is an attempt to cancel our common history as part of a strategy to aggressively contain the Russian federation.”

Last fall Putin said that teaching children about different gender identities was “on the verge of a crime against humanity.” And Lavrov complained last year to Russian state news agency TASS about “political correctness” and the Black Lives Matter movement, which he said the United States is attempting to spread worldwide.

“Hollywood changes its rules now, too, so that everything reflects the diversity of modern society, which is likewise a form of censorship, which stifles art and imposes various artificial restrictions and demands. I saw black people playing in Shakespeare’s comedies. I don’t know when we will have a white Othello,” Lavrov told TASS. “You see, that’s absurdity. Political correctness pushed to such absurdity won’t end well.”

White actors have played Othello, a Moorish prince, for centuries, including Laurence Olivier, Orson Welles and Anthony Hopkins.

Putin’s latest speech also comes after he signed a ban into law essentially criminalizing references to the war in Ukraine as a “war” or “invasion,” with a punishment up to 15 years in prison.

Vocally opposing Putin has been dangerous in Russia for many years. In 2012, he sent members of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot into a prison labor camp for two years for performing an anti-Putin protest concert in Moscow. In 2020, the Russian president’s most high-profile critic, opposition leader Alexei Navalny, was poisoned and upon his return to Russia, detained and imprisoned.

While Putin is borrowing catchphrase from conservative media, Russian state television has lately recycled clips of its biggest stars, including popular Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who in the run-up to the invasion of Ukraine sarcastically scolded “Democrats in Washington” for supposedly pushing a policy that it is “your patriotic duty to hate Vladimir Putin. … Anything less than hatred for Putin is treason.” Carlson has also echoed Russian disinformation that the United States has bioweapons labs in Ukraine.

The confluence of right-wing talking points in the U.S. and Putin propaganda has sometimes led to outright praise for the Russian president. Shortly before the invasion, former Trump adviser Steve Bannon invited security consultant Erik Prince onto his “War Room” podcast.

“Putin ain’t woke,” Bannon said. “He’s anti-woke.”

“The Russian people still know which bathroom to use,” Prince replied.

it was don lemon live from Ukraine last night.

i cannot find any video anywhere online or his twitter page.

the reason is don lemon /cnn live

he kept showing what he said was drone footage from Ukraine

and it looked really fake to me.

so i just started looking around tonight as it just is spinning in my thought from last night

i cannot find any of the don lemon live from Ukraine video or even on the cnn page, no video, YT, no video.

I just started doing random searches with various search words

and guess what

i found the exact footage they used in a random video on YT

The Birds of Satan are an American progressive hard rock group, assembled in 2014 as a side-project led by Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters. The band is also composed of members Wiley Hodgden and Mick Murphy who previously played with Hawkins in the cover band Chevy Metal.[4]

The band's self-titled debut album was released on April 15, 2014 and pays tribute to seventies bands such as Queen, David Bowie, Wings, Alice Cooper, Van Halen, and Aerosmith.[6] Fellow Foo Fighters band members Dave Grohl, Rami Jaffee, and Pat Smear are featured on the album alongside the band,[4] while Hawkins' school friend and Yes vocalist Jon Davison also appears. Prior to the album's release, the band released a promotional single titled, "Thanks for the Line."[6]
