(i) the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or

(ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget related to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

(b) This order shall be implemented in a manner consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

The ECB Has Quietly Launched Yield Curve Control… Just Don't Call It Yield Curve Control

When the BOJ - that experiment guinea pig among "developed" central banks which now holds a record 133% of Japan's GDP on its balance sheet and which simply can't stop intervening or Japan's economy will implode in an instant - launched Yield Curve Control in late 2016, most market participants knew that it was just a matter of time before this particular experiment came to every other "developed" central bank. After all, the world's monetary experimentalists long ago found themselves permanently trapped by pushing yields to record low levels to enable a tsunami of debt by inflating a gigantic asset bubble and then hoping they can let some air out of the bubble occasionally, and let yields rise again, if ever so slowly in hopes of "renormalization." Alas as the recent events of late 2018 showed, in a world that has over $300 trillion in debt, higher yields - and renormalization - are now impossible, which is why central banks can never stop their micromanagement of capital markets and the economy, and why digital currencies are coming as the current fiat regime is now effectively defunct.

But first, it means that Japan's Yield Curve Control will be attempted across the world.

And while we wait for Jerome Powell to launch YCC in the US, which according to some may happen once the nascent inflationary spike pushes 10Y yields to 1.50% or higher threatening a crash in the bond market - and from there all other markets - it appears that the ECB has already launched a stealthy version of Yield Curve Control of its own, i.e., controlling and manipulating government bond yields which are only permitted to trade within a narrow range of parameters. Just two caveats: it's "different" from the BOJ version of YCC, and whatever you do, don't call it yield curve control.

According to Bloomberg, the ECB "is buying bonds to limit the differences between yields for the strongest and weakest economies in the euro zone, according to officials familiar with the matter, with one person saying the central bank has specific ideas on what spreads are appropriate."

In other words, yield curve control. But since the ECB does not want to be associated with the stigma that trails the BOJ which, as everyone knows, will be the first central banks to capitulate, the European incarnation of bond market nationalization is called yield spread control.

The ECB’s stealthy market manipulation strategy, which has never been disclosed previously in any official capacity, explains for example why the spread between Italian and German debt "has stayed remarkably stable despite the Italian government nearing collapse, after the central bank raised the pace of bond buying." It also explains why rates volatility - both in Europe and by extension, in the US - has been is at record lows.

First Trump declassified Russia document: Christopher Steele's 2017 confessional to the FBI

Dossier author Christopher Steele admitted to the FBI he leaked the Russia collusion story during the height of the 2016 election to help Hillary Clinton overcome her lingering email scandal and because he believed Donald Trump’s election would be bad for U.S. relations with his home country of Britain, according to documents declassified by the president in his final full day in office.

The FBI report of agents’ interview with Steele in September 2017, nearly a year after he had been terminated as an informant, provided explosive information about his motives in working simultaneously for the FBI and the opposition research firm for Clinton’s campaign. The document was obtained by Just the News and at times reads like a confessional from the now-infamous former MI6 agent and author of the anti-Trump dossier.

Steele told agents that then-FBI Director James Comey’s decision to re-open the Clinton email investigation in fall 2016 became his tipping point for leaking the anti-Trump collusion research that his company Orbis Intelligence had gathered and given to the FBI.

“STEELE explained that as the election season went on, they as a company were riding two horses their client and the FBI and after FBI Director James Comey's reopening of the Hillary Clinton investigation, they had to pick one horse and chose the business client relationship over the relationship with the FBI,” the interview report stated.

“They followed what their client wanted, and they spoke to the press,” the report noted.

Steele and his partner Christopher Burrows even suggested the FBI deserved some of the blame for the decision to leak to the news media and Sen. John McCain's office.

“STEELE and BURROWS described the overall situation as being one where it was ‘your [FBI] fault’ and ‘our fault,’” the memo stated, adding that Burrows was also upset the FBI had not paid Steele for his anti-Trump work.

The two British citizens also told the FBI concerns about the impact of a Trump presidency also motivated them.

“STEELE and BURROWS described President TRUMP as their ‘main opponent’ and indicated that they were fearful about how Trump’s presidency negatively impacted the historical US-US alliance and the US-UK special relationship,” the memo stated.

The 26-page report also discussed in detail Steele’s reliance on his primary sub-source, an Eastern-European born academic who had worked at the U.S. liberal think tank the Brookings Institute.

The FBI recently released documents showing that sub-source had been the focus of an FBI counterintelligence probe back in 2009-11 and that the bureau assessed he had posed a possible national security threat to the U.S. and had Russian intelligence.

The FBI was seeking to obtained a FISA warrant against the man when he fled the U.S., causing the FBI to close down its probe.

The most explosive revelation about the sub-source in the newly declassified documents was that former Trump National Security Council Russia expert Fiona Hill, an impeachment witness in 2019 against Trump, had introduced Steele to his sub-source in 2011, well after he FBI had opened up its probe on the source.

“The primary sub-source was introduced to STEELE and ORBIS by FIONA HILL in or around 2011,” the report stated. “…Emphasizing the sensitivity, STEELE explained that Hill now worked for the National Security Council. HILL has a very high opinion of the primary sub-source.”

Steele said he later told Hill the sub-source she had introduced to him had contributed to the dossier.

“STEELE said FIONA HILL knows that the primary sub-source was involved in the dossier,” the report noted, describing how Steele went to Hill in early 2017 because he became worried about the sub-source’s safety.

Comet’s harasser is referring to a bogus conspiracy theory about Comet that sprung into view in DC just before the 2016 election, as memelords who supported Donald Trump began a campaign of harassing Comet based on warped online “detective” work that sprang from stolen Hillary Clinton campaign emails. The half-baked idea, a precursor of QAnon, was called “Pizzagate”: a theory that the neighborhood eatery was somehow the center of a vast pedophilia ring among Washington elites. Sub-Hunting Drone Completes Successful Test Off California Coast

The US Navy and General Atomics tested a Reaper drone for the first time ever with new submarine-hunting technology, according to Defense News.

The General Atomics' MQ-9A Block V Reaper drone dropped ten sonobuoys were used to track an underwater training target that mimicked a submarine.

The test was conducted in November. The MQ-9A Block V Reaper is part of a research and development project with the Navy's Naval Air Systems Command.

The successful completion of the test may lower submarine-hunting surveillance costs and divert more expensive human-crewed airplanes, such as the Boeing P-8 Poseidon, to more critical missions.

A General Atomics tear-off sheet shows the MQ-9A Block V Reaper has four pods that can carry up to 40 'A' size or 80 'G' size sonobuoys. During the test, the drone dropped sonobuoys to track an underwater target in real-time.

"This demonstration is a first for airborne antisubmarine warfare. The successful completion of this testing paves the way for the future development of more Anti-Submarine Warfare capabilities from our MQ-9s," said General Atomics Aeronautical Systems President David Alexander in a statement. "We look forward to continuing collaboration with the US Navy as they explore innovative options for distributed maritime operations in the undersea domain."

Using drones for anti-submarine warfare could be the cheapest bet for the military to monitor the Pacific Ocean as China continues to expand its underwater capabilities.

Suppose the MQ-9A Block V Reaper is deployed in the future. In that case, courtesy of BofA is a map of US military bases and presence in the Pacific Ocean and, specifically, in proximity to China.

Ex-Guantanamo chief prosecutor calls for ‘DOMESTIC WAR ON SEDITION,’ suggests GOP congressman more guilty than Gitmo detainees

Retired US Air Force Col. Moe Davis spent years prosecuting alleged Islamist terrorists at Guantanamo Bay, but now his sights are set on domestic threats, including the Republican congressman who beat him in the 2020 election.

“I was chief prosecutor at Guantanamo for over two years, and there's far more evidence of Congressman Madison Cawthorn's guilt than there was of guilt for 95+ percent of the detainees,” Davis said Monday on Twitter.

It's time we start a domestic war on sedition by American terrorists.

The message was accompanied by photos of Cawthorn (R-North Carolina) and another freshman member of Congress, Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado). Davis, a former Democrat congressional candidate, didn't specify in his tweet what actions by Cawthorn might constitute sedition, but Democrats have called for his removal from office for saying that President-elect Joe Biden's election victory was fraudulent and using such language as “fight back” to allegedly incite the January 6 US Capitol riot.

More than 59,000 people have signed a change.org petition demanding his resignation. Cawthorn, a paraplegic who at 25 is the youngest member of Congress, blamed the violence during the riot on left-wing agitators. He later condemned the “actions of a violent few” as “cowardly and pathetic” and said it was “sickening and infuriating” to see people with American flags and Trump flags storming the Capitol.

At a time when Democrats are branding supporters of President Donald Trump, including members of Congress, as dangerous white supremacist, Davis' tweet took the discourse to an even higher level. Fox host Tucker Carlson said the retired colonel is essentially calling on people like Cawthorn and the millions of Americans who voted Republican to be “subdued by force.”

“Has Twitter seen Moe Davis tweet?” Carlson asked. “Has the Secret Service? Do they care? Will a single one of Col. Moe Davis many allies in the Democratic Party denounce what he said or even tell him to cool it a little bit?”

Cawthorn, who beat Davis by more than 12 percentage points in the November 3 election, responded to the sedition allegation by urging his supporters to “never back down to the violent left.” He added, “My disgraced and defeated opponent wants to declare war on conservatives.”

With the “Trump Legacy Project,” the DNC is vowing to hound Trump in political retirement, highlighting his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, criticizing his economic record, and reminding voters he tried to repeal the Affordable Care Act signed into law by President Barack Obama. There were 645 instances of the top 20 defense contractors in fiscal year 2016 hiring former senior government officials, military officers, Members of Congress, and senior legislative staff as lobbyists, board members, or senior executives in 2018 (see chart below). Since some lobbyists work for multiple defense contractors, there are more instances than officials.1

I am writing to follow up on my phone conversation with you earlier today, during which I expressed my deep concern about the irregularities involved in the selection of the General Counsel of the National Security Agency (NSA). I ask that you immediately cease plans to improperly install Michael Ellis as the new NSA General Counsel. Additionally, with a copy of this letter to the Acting Inspector General, I am also requesting an investigation into the circumstances of the NSA General Counsel selection process. I have serious concerns about your statement that this process was free from political interference.

Public reporting indicates that Mr. Ellis, a relatively recent law school graduate with a limited resume, was selected due to interference by the White House, and was chosen over much more qualified candidates. Moreover, Mr. Ellis has been reportedly involved in highly questionable activities that are disqualifying – including the infamous 2017 “midnight run” to launder intelligence information through Rep. Devin Nunes and with efforts to shield information about President Trump’s July 2019 call with the President of Ukraine.

The NSA General Counsel, which involves supervising many intelligence community attorneys and interacting with intelligence agencies, is a highly sensitive career position for which candidates are selected, based on merit and free from political influence. If Mr. Ellis did go through the traditional civil service hiring process, I request a detailed account of that process, to understand how someone with his credentials was chosen over other qualified candidates. Just hours before departing office, President Trump on Tuesday evening formally completed the declassification of a large trove of Russia probe documents, overruling objections posed by the FBI in a last bid effort to keep memos secret.

Trump revealed in a statement issued by the White House that the materials were not previously shared with Congress or the public and he received them on Dec. 30 in a binder, determining they ought to be made public. The binder is about a foot tall, according to officials who have seen it.

"I determined that the materials in that binder should be declassified to the maximum extent possible," the president said.

The effort to release the materials, however, hit a bump when the FBI objected on Sunday to a complete release of the information. The president nonetheless ordered them released but allowed for some modest redactions to be made.

"As part of the iterative process of the declassification review, under a cover letter dated January 17, 2021, the Federal Bureau of Investigation noted its continuing objection to any further declassification of the materials in the binder and also, on the basis of a review that included Intelligence Community equities, identified the passages that it believed it was most crucial to keep from public disclosure. I have determined to accept the redactions proposed for continued classification by the FBI in that January 17 submission."

Just the News has already reported the materials include an FBI memo summarizing an interview agents did in fall 2017 with anti-Trump dossier author Christopher Steele, in which he acknowledged his motives for leaking the Russia collusion narrative during the 2016 U.S. election as well as tasking orders for another confidential human source to spy on the Trump campaign by posing as someone seeking a job.

Officials said they expected the first materials to surface in public by midday Wednesday.

Starting Wednesday, more women will be represented on both sides of the lectern, as Biden's communications team is fully staffed by women — a first in US history, according to the incoming administration.
