While on air, Beck revealed that Donald Trump asked him about his preference for a vice presidential running mate. His full response warrants attention.

“Last week, Donald Trump called me and he said, any advice on who I should pick for Vice President? Who do you think?

“Not that, I mean, he’s probably calling everyone,” he added. “And so he said, who do you think? And I said, ‘I don’t know how you’re going to feel about it,’ but this is the day, I think it was the day he trashed Vivek (Ramaswamy).”

“And I said, ‘Vivek.’ And he said, ‘why do you say that?’ He said, ‘that’s the number one response from everybody I’ve asked that question.’ And he said, ‘why do you say that?'”

“And I said, ‘A, he can defend you. He’s right in your pocket. And while you’re defending this, he’s watching your back defending this.’ I said, ‘also, I think some of his ideas are really, really good. He connects with the youth, which now the latest of 18-to-24 year olds that voted for Biden, they’re not voting for Biden, but they won’t vote for Donald Trump yet. So you get that lower vote, the people that are excited about, hey, something fresh and different. And then in 2028 when you can no longer run, you continue for another eight years and you get the credit for bringing this new fresh face in.’ I said, ‘I just think you become legendary.’ And what did he say to that? ‘Well, we’ll see.'”

That’s a fascinating bit of political water cooler talk that may give us a sense of where Donald Trump’s head is at when it comes to selection of a vice presidential running mate.

(I hope to God, Trump doesn’t listen to Glenn Beck, he’s mostly like a RINO like Erik Ericson. And Vivek should be used at a very long distance if at all. Trump knows this. Update: After speaking with election integrity expert Garland Favorito, we discovered the courtroom display was much more serious than originally reported. J. Alex Halderman demonstrated in court how Dominion machines were hacked and altered their tabulations.

On Friday, in a Federal Court In Atlanta, Georgia, University of Michigan Professor of Computer Science and Engineering J. Alex Halderman testified in front of Judge Amy Totenberg’s courtroom about the Dominion voting machines used in the Georgia elections since 2020.

As reported earlier, during his testimony, Halderman was able to HACK A DOMINION VOTING MACHINE and change the tabulation in front of U.S. District Judge Amy Totenberg in the courtroom!

Halderman USED ONLY A PEN TO CHANGE VOTE TOTALS!

His testimony was part of a long-running lawsuit by election integrity activists set as a bench trial.

The plaintiffs seek to remove what they say are insecure voting machines in Georgia in favor of secure paper ballots.

Following The Gateway Pundit’s explosive report on Saturday night, we spoke with Georgia reporter Amber Connor, who has been sitting in the courtroom during the trial for the past two weeks.

Amber confirmed what was reported earlier about Halderman’s demonstration live on how to hack a Dominion voting machine and change the totals using only a pen. In fact Halderman borrowed a pen from the defense attorneys for his demonstration.

New evidence has revealed that the British Armed Forces have provided significant support to the ongoing Israeli war effort against Palestinian militia groups through surveillance flights over the Gaza Strip. Since the outbreak of hostilities on October 7 Western countries have provided significant and growing support to Israeli military efforts, with the United States revealed in November 2023 to have also been deploying MQ-9 Reaper drones for surveillance of Gaza and passing intelligence to Israeli forces. The CIA has also provided intelligence on the locations of Palestinian leaders to support ongoing Israeli assassination attempts, and alongside advisors the U.S. also reported to have deployed special forces for combat in the theatre. It was previously revealed that the country was also provided armaments to support an ongoing invasion of the territory by Israeli forces.

RAF Akrotiri has previously served as a key staging ground for British offensive operations into the Middle East against both Syria and Iraq. In 2013 Syria deployed Su-24M2 strike fighters newly modernised in Russia to fly near the facility in shows of force to demonstrate its retaliatory capability against it at a time when London was leading calls in the Western world for an attack on the country. The base has also been a centre of tensions with Russia, with British sources reporting in 2021 that Russian forces made repeated efforts to jam the GPS navigation systems used by Royal Air Force aircraft operating from Cyprus. RAF Akrotiri was established in 1955, a year before the Suez Crisis, during which it served as a key staging ground for a joint invasion of Egypt alongside French and Israeli forces. The base in the past also hosted America CIA U-2 surveillance aircraft deployed to monitory Egyptian forces in the aftermath of the Yom Kippur War with Israel. The facility was more recently used as a staging ground for offensives against Libya in 2011, and from January 12, 2024, has been used for strikes against Yemeni Ansuruallah Coalition forces.

7 Takeaways From Arguments In The SCOTUS Case That Could Slay The Administrative State

Wednesday’s arguments were all about whether the Supreme Court should do away with the unworkable Chevron deference.

The United States Supreme Court heard oral arguments in two companion cases, Relentless Inc. v. U.S. Dept. of Commerce and Loper Bright v. Raimondo on Wednesday.The bottom-line question before the court concerned whether Congress authorized the Department of Commerce to charge fishing businesses the costof government-mandated observers on their rigs.

But answering that question requires the Supreme Court to first decide whether to overturn the landmark case of Chevron v. Natural Resources Defense Council, the namesake for the Chevron doctrine, which requires courts to defer to an agency’s interpretation of an ambiguous statute so long as the agency’s interpretation is “reasonable.”That’s what Wednesday’s arguments were all about — Chevron and whether the Supreme Court should do away with Chevron deference.

Here are your top takeaways from the hours-long arguments.

1. What Does Chevron Deference Mean?

A blackletter law definition of Chevron deference is easy to provide. As noted above, it is a legal principle that requires courts to defer to an agency’s reasonable interpretation of an ambiguous statute.But Wednesday’s hearing showed the contours of the doctrine are far from clear, with the justices jousting with the solicitor general, who represents the Department of Commerce, over the meaning of “ambiguous.”

A statute is “ambiguous,” Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar said, “when the court has exhausted the tools of interpretation and hasn’t found a single right answer.” But asJustice Gorsuch notedin response, just the prior year, agovernment attorney claimed he could not define “ambiguous.”

The meaning of “ambiguous” is key to the doctrine of Chevron deference, which requires two steps. At step one, a court is to “employ[] traditional tools of statutory construction” to determine “whether Congress has directly spoken to the precise question at issue.” According to Chevron, “[i]f the intent of Congress is clear, that is the end of the matter,” and the court must enforce the clear meaning.” But if “the statute is silent or ambiguous with respect to the specific issue,” then the court proceeds to step two, which requires the court to defer to an agency’s interpretation so long as it reflects a “permissible construction of the statute.”

So defining “ambiguous” matters, several of the justices stressed, pointing to the confusion of the lower courts on the question —something that would justify overturning Chevron.

2. Justice Kavanaugh Was a Star

Heading into Wednesday, court watchers knew three justices had already expressed disagreement with Chevron, including Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh. To date, Gorsuch has made some of the most resounding attacks on Chevron deference. And while Gorsuch landed some blows during oral argument, it wasKavanaugh who seemed to throw haymaker after haymaker.

Kavanaugh returned to ground zero — the Chevron decision — and pushed the solicitor general on what he saw as“an internal inconsistency in Chevron itself.”

“It related to footnote 9,” he explained. That footnote provides that “the judiciary is the final authority onissues of statutory construction and must reject administrative constructionswhich are contrary to clear congressional intent.” Accordingly, the Chevron court continued, “[i]f a court, employing traditional tools of statutory construction, ascertains that Congress had an intention on the precise question at issue, that intention is the law and must be given effect.”

Referencing that footnote, Kavanaugh continued, “if you use all the traditional tools of statutory interpretation, you’ll get an answer,” and therefore, there is no step two and no deference. And we know you get an answer, the Trump appointee stressed, “because, in cases where we don’t have an agency involved and we use those same traditional tools, we get an answer.”

Kavanaugh reiterated that point several times throughout the argument, namely that courts interpret statutes regularly, both ambiguous and unambiguous ones, implying that if judges did the tough work of statutory interpretation, there would be no step two deference required.

3. Stakes Are Enormous

Another notable theme from Wednesday wasthe effect of reversing Chevron.

Soon after arguments in Relentless began, Justice Elena Kagan monopolized the questioning by peppering the fishing company’s attorney with hypotheticals. What was most striking, though, were not the difficult scenarios posed, but her assertion that “the court is very rarely in the situation in which you’re talking where it thinks the law means X and instead it says Y,” because of deference under Chevron. “If it thinks it means X, under Chevron, as we’ve understood it and made clear and reigned it in a little bit over these last few years, it’s supposed to say X,” Kagan continued. Chevron really only applies, the Obama appointee suggested, when the “law runs out” and “there’s a genuine ambiguity.”

Kagan’s efforts to portray Chevron as a tie-breaker contrasted sharply with the sky-is-falling arguments the government presented. Overruling Chevron would “shock” “the legal system,” the solicitor general argued in her opening comments to the court. Yet later in her argument, she too seemingly acknowledged that many of the cases are resolved at the first step of Chevron, meaning deference is not even required.Under these circumstances, it is difficult to take seriously the worst-case-scenario prognosespresented by Chevron’s champions.

4. Congress Needs to Do Its Damn Job

Another common theme pushed, especially by Kagan, concerned thequestion of “who decides?” If there is an ambiguity, Kagan posed several times, do we want the agency or the courts to make the policy decision?

The correct answer, however, is neither: Congress should make policy decisionsand draft statutes that provide clarity on the law. When Congress delegates authority to administrative agencies, such authority should similarly be clear.

Chevron deference has allowed Congress for far too long to avoid making tough calls, and while some of the justices seemed fine with that approach, it is inconsistent with our constitutional structure.

5. Stare Decisis

The prudential principle of stare decisis also featured heavily in oral arguments, with the government arguing it cuts against overturning the Chevron doctrine. Businesses need certainty, thesolicitor general argued, and overturning Chevron would destroy the predictability of the law. (What predictability? It seems every court applies the law to what they think it means, hence the need for the SC)

On the contrary, the fishing businesses’ attorneys stressed,what creates uncertainty is Chevron deference, which allows for each new administration to reverse prior regulations. Several justices seemed to share that viewpoint as well. Further, as several of the justices noted, the unworkability of a legal rule can justify its reversal, notwithstanding stare decisis — and several of the exchanges on Wednesdayshowed Chevron deference, in its current iteration, is unworkable.

6. Oh, the Humility!

Another key exchange originated when Kagan pushed Paul Clement, attorney for the fishermen in Loper Bright, on humility.

Chevron is a doctrine of humility, Kagan began, noting that in that doctrine the court “recognize[s] that there are some places where congressional direction has run out, and we think Congress would have wanted the agency to do something rather than the courts.”

“We accept that because that’s the best reading of Congress and also becausewe know in our heart of hearts that Congress — that agencies know things that courts do not,” she continued. (Where did she her law degree a DEI school?)

On top of that, Kagan noted that overturning Chevron conflicted with the principle of stare decisis — another doctrine of humility — which, as she put it, says “we don’t willy-nilly reverse things unless there’s a special justification.” Then came her talking point: “And you’re saying blow up one doctrine of humility, blow up another doctrine of humility, and then expect anybody to think that the courts are acting like courts.” (Wow she really doesn’t want this overturned, not because she believes the mish mash she made up, but because it will reign in the Administrative State, and the Agencies are not legal because they are not one of three agencies the Constitution dictated.)

Kagan’s comments suggest she sought to sell Chevron to her fellow justicesbased on concerns over institutional integrity, while implying a vote tooverturn that landmark case could only come from hubris.

Gorsuch, who filled the vacancy on the court left by Justice Antonin Scalia’s death andwas having none of Kagan’s argument, called on his predecessor’s name in retort: “One lesson of humility is [to] admit when you’re wrong. Justice Scalia, who took Chevron, which nobody understood to include this two-step move as originally written, turned it into what we now know, and late in life, he came to regret that decision.”

7. Predictions

From oral argument,Gorsuch and Kavanaugh seem definite votes for reversing Chevron deference. Thomas, given his past writings, seems a likely vote for reversal. In one exchange, Justice Samuel Alito seemed to mirror much of Kavanaugh’s thinking, namely that the courts already interpret statutes in other areas, and can do so here too, without needing to defer to agencies.

Both Justices Roberts and Barrett were more coy in their questioning, creating uncertainty about their positions. Conversely Kagan, Sotomayor, and Jackson all favored the Chevron framework.

Bottom line:There is no sure-fire forecast of the outcome. But something Gorsuch said might provide the best insight into the likely result.

During one exchange, the solicitor general suggested that the court merely reiterate to the lower courts the importance of undertaking a robust step-one inquiry.Gorsuch pointedly protestedthat the court had already on multiple occasions reminded the lower courts of their responsibility under Chevron to conduct an extensive analysis of the statute to resolve the question prior to deferring to the agencies.What good is another reminder likely to do?

Right there could be the reason two undecided justices join to form amajority to overturn Chevron — it is just not workable because the lower courts won’t do the work required.

A group of medical staff at Denver Health made history last November by being among the first to receive a live Ebola vaccine, a decision drawing attention due to its unusual nature and the vaccine’s reported “shedding” characteristics.

Although there are currently no Ebola outbreaks, the proactive approach of Denver Health’s High Risk Infection Team has been both lauded and questioned.

The live Ebola vaccine, administered to members of Denver Health’s High Risk Infection Team, is part of a proactive strategy to bolster defenses against potential future outbreaks.

Ebola, known for its high fatality rate, caused global concern during the 2014 West Africa epidemic, which also resulted in cases within the United States. While the world is currently free of any Ebola outbreaks, the team at Denver Health is not taking any chances.

“We want to make sure that people have the chance to be protected in case we need to take care of a patient that has a disease with a mortality potentially of 70%,” said Dr. Maria Frank, one of the vaccine recipients. “We want to be able to help if necessary, and you know, a lot of people in the U.S. feel inclined to go when something happens, so we may deploy health care workers to actually help during an outbreak.”

However, Dr. Richard Bartlett revealed some concerns on The Alex Jones Show. He discussed the unique properties of this live Ebola vaccine, which is being administered for the first time in Colorado.

Bartlett questioned the timing and purpose, correlating it to a new lab being built near Denver in Colorado Springs, which is reported to be engaged in bat research and potentially working with Ebola and Nipah virus strains.

The Ebola vaccine is a live virus vaccine that is administered as a single injection into a muscle. The vaccine contains a weakened strain of the vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) that has been altered to contain a gene from the Ebola virus. As of August 2023, the FDA has approved Merck’s ERVEBO (Ebola Zaire Vaccine, Live) for use in children 12 months and older. ERVEBO is a replication-competent, live, attenuated recombinant vesicular stomatitis virus (rVSV) vaccine.

The “Ervebo” vaccine, as it’s known, reportedly has a shedding rate of 31%, according to the FDA package insert. This shedding refers to the vaccine virus’s ability to be transmitted to others, including family members or casual contacts. Critics like Bartlett highlight the risks associated with such shedding, particularly when the general public remains unaware of potential exposure.

The FDA report indeed confirms that vaccine virus RNA was detectable in some participants’ urine or saliva, with the highest shedding occurring on Day 7 post-vaccination and ceasing by Day 28. The highest shedding rate was observed in participants aged 12 to 17 years.

“Shedding of vaccine virus into the urine or saliva was evaluated in 359 participants enrolled in 8 clinical studies who were vaccinated with ERVEBO or lower dose formulations. Vaccine virus RNA was detected by RT-PCR in the urine or saliva of some participants at timepoints ranging from Day 1 through Day 14 postvaccination. In the 3 studies that assessed shedding at Day 28, no samples tested positive. In Study 6, 31.7% (19/60) of participants 12 months through 17 years of age enrolled in a substudy shed vaccine virus in saliva following vaccination. Viral shedding was greatest on Day 7 and declined thereafter, with no shedding detected after Day 28. Vaccine virus RNA was detected by RT-PCR in vesicular fluid samples from some participants. In one participant, a sample collected 20 days after vaccination tested positive for vaccine virus RNA by RTPCR.”

Modesto’s LGBTQ center director arrested in child predator operation

Gerad Slayton was the recently-appointed executive director of the Modesto-based Rainbow Resource Center, a provider of LGBT 'health' services.

The former executive director of a California LGBT organization was among more than a dozen men arrested in a recent sting operation for trying to solicit sex with children.

On January 8, the Modesto Bee reported the arrest of seventeen men, mostly from Stanislaus and Merced counties, as the result of a months-long, multi-agency operation headed by the Turlock Police Department to apprehend people trying to use internet chat rooms to “meet with underage children for the purpose of sexual activity.” The suspects were speaking online to undercover police officers they believed to be children as young as thirteen.

Among the suspects was 42-year-old Gerad Slayton of Modesto, who is revealed in a follow-up Bee report to have been the recently-appointed executive director of the Modesto-based Rainbow Resource Center (RRC), a provider of LGBT “health” services that describes itself as a “Non-Profit Queer Resource Center serving Stanislaus County. Not Your Typical Pride Center!”

Ford has announced that it is cutting production of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup trucks as the demand for electric vehicles continues to plummet.

The latest knock to the EV industry came Friday, when Ford announced it would move about 1,400 of the 2,100 employees from its Lightning plant in Dearborn, Michigan, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The employees will be shuffled around to other Ford factories to ramp up production of existing popular gasoline-power vehicles.

Morningstar reported some of the workers will take advantage of their union’s recently-negotiated retirement incentive program.

Another 700 will be moved to the company’s Michigan Assembly Plant, where a third crew will be added to boost production of gas-powered Bronco sports utility vehicles and Ranger pickups.

In total, the company said its decision to cut production on the F-150 Lighting is expected to create 900 jobs.

Ford’s stock price saw a jump of more than half a percent Friday morning after the news was announced.

Consumers have shown an increasing preference for traditional vehicles in recent months and throughout the last year.

Batteries for even the most basic Tesla models can run anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 — or higher, Business Insider previously noted.

Those same batteries are prone to spontaneously catching fire, putting structures at risk, while also taking firefighters tens of thousands of gallons of water to put out.

Even then, the cars must be isolated, as the batteries are prone to reigniting — in some cases, days later.

Many new electric vehicle drivers have also expressed frustration over how they perform in extreme temperatures.

Charging the vehicles in frigid temperatures can slow the process — costing customers at charging stations extra dollars.

Meanwhile, the driving range of the vehicles tends to dramatically decrease during winter weather.

These and other issues have dominated news as of late, and have without a doubt contributed to Ford’s decision to cut production on the F-150 Lightning.

When the vehicle was first announced in 2021, Ford touted it as the “truck of the future.”

“For both Ford and the American auto industry, F-150 Lightning represents a defining moment as we progress toward a zero-emissions, digitally connected future,” company executive chair Bill Ford said in May 2021.

Less than three years later, the trucks have failed to win over consumers.

Public sentiment regarding electric vehicles is apparently so low at the moment that many Americans do not want to rent them.

Hertz announced earlier this month it would begin to eliminate many of the 20,000 electric vehicles from its rental fleet.

Electric bicycles were responsible for a record number of fires, injuries and deaths in New York City last year.

In total, e-bikes caused 267 fires, causing 18 deaths and 150 injuries in the city, the New York Fire Department (FDNY) told Fox News, which notes that the figures represent the highest levels of each statistic - with deaths jumping 200% and fires increasing 21% over last year.

"As we rely more and more on micromobility vehicles to earn a living in our daily lives, we increase the risk of fires caused by lithium-ion batteries. And as mentioned, we had over 100 deaths in this city alone on these batteries," said Mayor Eric Adams (D) during an e-bike safety event last year.

"And one of the problems that we've noticed, when you look at those taped-up batteries, you see that they are refurbished," he continued. "These shops are going inside attempting to refurbish the batteries and do it their own way. This is a safety issue."

Amid the uptick in e-bike fires and deaths, New York City leaders led by Adams and FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh — who said last year that e-bikes are "incredibly dangerous devices" and called for additional regulation — have spearheaded a public education campaign about the dangers of the device and pushed policies to ensure safety.

In March 2023, Adams unveiled the city's Charge Safe, Ride Safe plan to prevent further harmful e-bike incidents. Then, months later, he announced the city had been awarded $25 million in federal funding to install 173 outdoor e-bike charging stations. In December, Adams said his administration would soon launch a battery-charging pilot program for delivery workers. -Fox News

Jan 20, 2024 (Bloomberg) –The oil market is bracing for a weeks-long disruption to shipping in the southern Red Sea, where Houthi militants have for months been attacking merchant vessels in response to Israel’s war in Gaza.

Charters of tankers to haul crude and fuels — which for some vessels are arranged up to a month in advance — reveal growing numbers of the vessels are being hired for routes that will avoid the danger zone, according to shipowners, brokers and traders.

Airstrikes in Yemen on Jan. 12 by the US and UK have heightened a sense of chaos for ships in the area, especially after western navies subsequently warned vessels to stay away. With the Houthis pledging to strike back against both nations’ commercial fleets, numerous owners elected to stay away from a route that normally handles about 12% of global seaborne trade.

“More and more owners are avoiding the area,” said Alexander Saverys, Chief Executive Officer of Euronav NV, whose own fleet can transport more than 50 million barrels of oil. “What looked like something that could be solved within weeks, now could indeed have consequences for many months.”

Tankers to move fuel cargoes are instead being hired to sail to Asia instead of Europe, sparking a surge in earnings. At the same time, several Iraqi crude shipments have been booked on tankers that will take a thousands-of-miles detour around Africa.

Earnings Rising

Danish tanker owner Torm said in a statement that there’s been an increase in voyages to Asia for transporting refined fuels.

That has helped pushed earnings on the so-called relatively large tankers that ship oil products from $35,000 a day to $60,000 a day over the past week.

In addition, there’s also been a significant volume of Iraqi crude cargoes booked to sail from the Persian Gulf to Europe around Africa, according to people involved in the market.

Some are jointly loading smaller cargoes onto bigger ships to make the journey more cost-effective, one of the people said.

Although crude flows from the Persian Gulf to Europe are less common than ones to Asia, the shipments nevertheless reveal owners’ attitudes to transiting the Red Sea.

More Detours

Container shipping, where many Houthi attacks had initially been concentrated, had already largely diverted before the US and UK airstrikes. Increasing numbers of tankers and bulk commodity carriers followed suit.

Some crude tanker rates have been climbing too in recent weeks too.

Aframax ships that haul about 700,000 barrels more than doubled to hit almost $80,000 a day since the middle of December.

Suezmax ships — so-called for their ability to sail full through the canal that links Asia and Europe — are up about 50% to almost $70,000 a day.

Oregon's secretary of state is currently facing a lawsuit regarding an anti-MDM contract.

The Oregon secretary of state’s office used artificial intelligence in the 2022 electionthat flagged election fraud concerns as mis-, dis-, and malinformation (MDM) and may use it again this year, similar to how Arizona monitored online election information. The effort is already facing a lawsuit.

Oregon flagged election information online during the 2022 midterms, with an AI targeting concerns regarding mail-in ballots. Arizona also worked with social media companies to take down social media posts that allegedly contained election misinformation.

During the 2022 election cycle, the Oregon secretary of state at the time hired a U.K. artificial intelligence company for a pilot project “to help provide a suite of products to identify and disarm harmful information online as it relates to elections (mis-, dis-, and mal-information, or ‘MDM’),” according to a bid solicitation.

Oregon State Rep. Ed Diehl (R) provided Just the News with documents he received from the secretary of state’s office via a public records request.

The company, Logically AI, sent reports to the Oregon secretary of state regarding “MDM narratives” found online, including during the 2022 election.

Some MDM narratives in 2022 that Logically AI flagged, according to its own report, were:

• “Mail-in ballots are used to commit voter and election fraud in Oregon;"

• “Future elections can’t be trusted due to the fraudulent 2020 elections;"

• And “voter and election fraud has been happening in Oregon for decades,”

There were also “high risk potential MDM narratives” flagged by Logically AI in August 2022, such as “Oregon should eliminate mail-in voting and hold in-person voting that requires voter ID” and “people should not trust mail-in ballots because signature verification is ineffective," the report said.

Last year, the secretary of state’s office posted another bid seeking a “solution” to combat

MDM.

State legislators sent the secretary of state a letter in November, calling on the secretary “to immediately halt implementation of the ‘Misinformation, Disinformation, and Mal-information (MDM) Analysis Platform Services’ Contract” because “the purpose of this system is to continually monitor and actively manipulate the free speech of Oregonians.”

The secretary responded, saying that a contract hadn’t yet been signed with Logically AI after the pilot project, but that they “are currently in an RFP process for a system we’d like to bring online.”

“The purpose of the proposed system will be to review publicly available information on websites, social media, and blogs, and notify us of threats and misinformation in a manner similar to a Google news alert,” the secretary added. “We will do two things with these notifications: 1) when there is a threat to life or infrastructure, we will notify the relevant law enforcement agencies, and 2) when there is false information about our elections, we will use our communications channels to share accurate information with voters.

“My office has no authority to remove information from the internet, so there is no first amendment issue here. We do, however, have a very real need to protect the people and infrastructure that make our democracy work,” the letter continued.

State legislators filed a lawsuit last month against state executives, requesting a preliminary injunction that would halt “any performance of work pursuant to" the anti-MDM contract. The case is currently pending.

According to answers sent from the secretary of state’s office, the “office reported instances of verifiably false information about election operations during the 2022 election. We ceased that practice after November 2022 because our reports were ignored by social media companies.

Diehl told Just the News on Friday about his concerns regarding the use of Logically AI by the secretary of state’s office.

"When you start suppressing speech and do these actions, it feeds conspiracy theories, which is bad for the country," he said.

The Oregon secretary of state's office and Logically AI didn't respond to requests for comment.

Oregon isn’t the only state to engage in monitoring election information on social media platforms.

An email surfaced following the 2022 midterm elections that showed then-Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs' office flagging a Twitter (now X) account on Jan. 7, 2021 for review.

The message emerged during discovery in a First Amendment lawsuit filed in May by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry against President Joe Biden alleging collusion between the administration and Big Tech regarding online censorship.

Under the subject line "Election Related Misinformation," Hobbs' communications director cited two tweets from an account that were of "specific concern to the Secretary of State."

In explaining the reason for the state intervention to seek suppression of the offending speech, the communications director said:

"These messages falsely assert that the Voter Registration System is owned and therefore operated by foreign actors. ... This is an attempt to further undermine confidence in the election institution in Arizona."

The email was sent to the nonprofit Center for Internet Security, which forwarded it to Twitter. "Both Tweets have been removed from the service" Twitter replied in an email copied to the Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

After the information regarding Hobbs was revealed, a CISA report was posted on Twitter by Trump campaign lawyer Christina Bobb regarding Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer's March appearance before the DHS agency's Protecting Critical Infrastructure from Misinformation and Disinformation Subcommittee to brief the members on combating election misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation.

According to the documents, Richer "suggested that CISA hold bootcamps for media representatives such as FOX News or CNN to enhance media's understanding of how elections are administered." He also said that the "malinformation" his office has encountered included "Abuse of Arizona's permissive public records process," as they received more than 350 public records requests last year regarding the 2020 election.

Richer told the subcommittee that as election misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation continues to spread, "the pressure on his staff will continue to build and it will become difficult to perform statutory responsibilities needed to establish safe, credible, and fair elections."

Two brand spanking new polls out of New Hampshire are very bad news for Nikki Haley, aka Birdbrain, aka Nikki New Taxes, aka Nikki da Neocon. As it turns out, the Coalition of the Lukewarm (heavily suburban, female, college-educated milquetoast independents and Trump-hating Democrats) that she is putting together doesn’t appear to be enough to deliver her the Granite State.

The first poll to sound the alarm for Nikki was released earlier today, and it was sponsored by the Boston Globe. The poll shows Trump with an absolutely massive lead with New Hampshire Republicans, and, even worse for Nikki, he’s running neck and neck with her with independents.

The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt steamed out of San Diego last week with little fanfare and headed toward the Western Pacific, according to a media report. Local ship spotters witnessed the carrier depart its berth at Naval Air Station North Island on Thursday and leave San Diego Bay, according to a USNI News report Friday citing an unnamed defense official. The deployment was not initially publicized by the Navy. A spokesman for the U.S. 3rd Fleet, Lt. Mohammad Issa, told Stars and Stripes by email Tuesday that Carrier Strike Group 9, led by the Theodore Roosevelt, “is currently underway conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations.” No other details about the patrol were provided. The Theodore Roosevelt completed an 18-month maintenance and upgrade period in March at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Wash., including a retrofit to its flight deck to handle F-35C Lightning II fighter jets. In December, the carrier completed another maintenance period and an exercise described by the Department of Defense as a “final workup phase and certification event before a scheduled deployment.” The deployment comes amid an operational stand-down of the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft for the Air Force, Navy and Marines following the Nov. 29 crash of an Air Force CV-22 Osprey off Japan’s southwestern coast. The crash, which killed all eight crewmembers on board, sparked an investigation into the tiltrotor. The stand-down is expected to continue pending the results of the investigation. There were no updates on the stand-down as of Saturday, Air Force Special Operations Command told Stars and Stripes by email that day.

The Theodore Roosevelt will be the second carrier strike group operating in the Western Pacific. The USS Carl Vinson was just east of Taiwan on Jan. 11, according to USNI’s Fleet and Marine Tracker. The carrier visited Manila on Jan. 5. The USS Ronald Reagan has been at its homeport, Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan, since wrapping up its annual deployment in November.

"Seems like they should be followed and unmasked," Musk said.

On Sunday, X owner Elon Musk called for members of the Patriot Front organization to be unmasked and questioned "Why doesn't the media or government care about their identities?" He asked.

The comment came in response to X user Wall Street Silver, who theorized, "The fact that the legacy media shows zero curiosity about unmasking these guys, tells us 100% that these are federal agents or paid stooges of one of the agencies."

Russia Suspends Operations At Fuel Export Terminal After Drone Attack

Jan 21 (Reuters) – Russian energy company Novatek NVTK.MM said on Sunday it had been forced to suspend some operations at a huge Baltic Sea fuel export terminal due to a fire started by what Ukrainian media said was a drone attack.

The giant Ust-Luga complex, located on the Gulf of Finland about 170 km (110 miles) west of St. Petersburg, is used to ship oil and gas products to international markets. It processes stable gas condensate – a type of light oil – into light and heavy naphtha, kerosene and diesel to be shipped by sea.

It was not clear how long the disruption would last, how many tankers would have to idle outside the port, and what the knock-on effect would be on international energy markets.

Critical infrastructure facilities in the surrounding Leningrad region were placed on high alert, with security units and law enforcement agencies ordered to destroy any drones detected, the regional administration said on Telegram.

The Interfax-Ukraine news agency, citing unnamed sources, said the fire was the result of a special operation carried out by Ukraine’s security services.

“The Ust-Luga Oil terminal … is an important facility for the enemy. Fuel is refined there, which, among other things, is also supplied to Russian troops,” it cited one source as saying.

“A successful attack on such a terminal not only causes economic damage to the enemy … but also significantly complicates the logistics of fuel for the Russian military.”

Reuters could not confirm that the fire resulted from a Ukrainian drone attack.

If it did, such an attack would demonstrate Kyiv’s ability to conduct strikes deeper into Russia than usual using what are believed to be domestically produced drones at a time when it is on the defensive on the battlefield and struggling to secure as much Western financing as it wants.

Such an attack, the latest in a spate of apparent strikes in recent days targeting Russian energy facilities, would also raise awkward questions about the quality of Russian air defense systems around key infrastructure facilities.

The incident, along with what Russia says was a Ukrainian artillery strike on civilians in a Russian-held city in eastern Ukraine that left at least 25 dead, could prompt wider Russian retaliation in a war which shows no sign of ending.

Alexander Drozdenko, the Leningrad region’s governor, said on the Telegram messaging app, that there had been no casualties at the Ust-Luga terminal and all workers had been safely evacuated.

Russian news agencies reported that two storage tanks and a pumping station had been damaged, but that the fire had been brought under control.

Novatek, which is Russia’s largest liquefied natural gas producer, said in a statement it had suspended some operations after the fire which it said was the result of “external influence.”

“The technological process at Novatek-Ust-Luga has been stopped, and an operational headquarters has been established to eliminate the consequences. Damage assessment will be carried out later,” the company said.

Russian news outlet Shot reported that local residents had heard a drone operating nearby followed by several explosions.

Russia and Ukraine have targeted each other’s energy infrastructure in strikes designed to disrupt supply lines and logistics, each side seeking to demoralize the other.

On Friday, a drone attack hit an oil depot in Russia’s western region of Bryansk, bordering Ukraine, for which Moscow blamed Kyiv. That came a day after an attack on a Russian Baltic Sea oil terminal that Russian officials said was unsuccessful.

Baza, a Russian news outlet known for its security services contacts, posted footage on Telegram on Sunday of large flames shooting into the sky over what appeared to be an industrial complex.

Three international tanker ships were anchored near the Ust-Luga terminal, though there were no reports of damage to them from the fire, the St Petersburg-based Fontanka outlet said.

Drozdenko said a “high alert regime” had been introduced and that officials had gathered for an emergency meeting.

Novatek processed 3.4 million tons of stable gas condensate at the complex in the first half of 2023, according to the most recent data available, up 0.6% from the same period a year earlier.

Judges Wavny Toussaint, Marina Cora Mundy and Lisa Ottley ruled on the matter, as the 770 shul made international headlines due to the anarchy displayed there and the unauthorized construction work by bochurim.

Agudas Chassidei Chabad (Aguch) and Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, central organizations of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, are the stated owners of the 770 and 778 buildings. Howard Wintner and David S. Abramson of The Abramson Group, PLLC represented them.

Fighting them is Congregation Lubavitch, Inc. (“CLI”) led by the 770 Gabboim Zalman Lipskier and Avrohom Holtzberg, and former 770 shamash Sholom Ber Kievman. Edward S. Rudofsky, P.C. represented them.

The plaintiff Gabboim / CLI claim that the main shul belongs to the Crown Heights community and not the Chabad establishment, and as such, they are the legal caretakers and decision-makers of the 770 shul on the ground floor of the 778 building.

As the case dragged on in court for some 20 years, the Gabboim had de facto control over the Shul. Under their control, rough bochurim, believing the Rebbe is physically alive, have banished people from the premises, exercised violence, and dug the infamous tunnel to expand 770.

When the Civil Court ruled in favor of Aguch and Merkos, the Gabboim appealed the decision. This new 20-page ruling is the court’s verdict on that. Currently, both sides are claiming victory.
