Names of men arrested at Brooklyn synagogue tunnel released

The NYPD has released the names of those arrested after they attempted to stop an illegally dug tunnel connected to a Brooklyn synagogue from being filled in.

Those arrested are:

Noam Dahan, 20, Criminal mischief and reckless endangerment

David Hayon, 22, Criminal mischief and reckless endangerment

Shmuel Malka, 19, Criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and obstruction of governmental administration.

The arrests came on Monday after police were called to stop a group of students at the Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters in Brooklyn who were attempting to stop construction crews from filling in an illegally dug tunnel connected to the building.

Medvedev warns Kiev of potential nuclear response

The former president said any attacks against Russian missile launch sites would trigger a devastating reaction

Moscow could use nuclear weapons even if it is attacked by conventional arms, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has warned. His comments came in response to calls in Ukraine to target missile launch sites inside Russia.

Writing on his Telegram channel on Thursday, Medvedev, who currently serves as deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, stated that“some thick-headed warmongers from Banderostan [Ukraine]” have suggested that the best method to fight Russia is to destroy its launch sites with long-range missiles supplied by the West.

The only consequence of such actions, according to Medvedev, would be the triggering of a nuclear response. He explained that Russian military doctrine allows it to deploy tactical nuclear weapons against a country that puts Russian statehood at risk, even through the use of conventional arms.

“This is not a right to self-defense, but a direct and obvious basis for us to use our nuclear weapons against such a state,” Medvedev wrote. He further warned that “all the heirs of Hitler, Mussolini, Petain and others in today’s Europe who support the Nazis in Kiev should remember this.”

The former Russian president did not specify whose comments he was reacting to. However, earlier on Thursday, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yury Ignat stated that Kiev does not have the resources to shoot down the thousands of S-300 missiles being stored in Russian warehouses, and that could be fired at Ukraine.

Speaking on national TV,Ignat suggested that the “best method” to defend against such attacks is to destroy missile launchers located on Russian territory. In order to accomplish this, the official stated that Kiev would need to use high-precision weapons.

Pentagon’s UAP investigation hub works to reach full operational capability

The Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) is on track to reach full operational capability (FOC) by Sept. 30 — or the end of fiscal year 2024, DefenseScoop confirmed on Tuesday.

Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks formally established the office in July 2022 as the Defense Department’s newest one-stop hub for investigating official reports of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) that could threaten U.S. national security. In past decades, DOD has set up more secretive iterations of teams to study these types of perplexing encounters with what is now essentially considered multi-domain UFOs — but AARO has been more in the spotlight and has received more financial backing than those that came before.

Congress has also placed deep scrutiny on this office and assigned clear responsibilities to advance transparency on this historically taboo topic, including a mandate for AARO to produce and maintain secure mechanisms for current and former DOD officials (and eventually the broader public) to submit reports of possible UAP for assessment.

One of AARO’s top priorities in 2023 was to “codify and staff unit manning document to full-operating capability,” and in August Hicks said she was looking forward to the office “achieving [that status of full operational capability] in fiscal year 2024,” without sharing exactly when.

“AARO is completing personnel hiring for its [fiscal year 2024] authorized billets and is working to ensure adequate facilities for its growing team. AARO is currently on track to reach FOC by the end of FY2024,” Pentagon spokesperson Sue Gough told DefenseScoop in an email on Tuesday.

Gough said in December the still-growing office was employing more than 40 DOD personnel — around the same time AARO’s inaugural director Sean Kirkpatrick retired and leadership was transferred to its new acting chief Tim Phillips.

In the last few months, AARO has continued to add new resources for public consumption to its official government website, such as balloon and satellite trackers and recommended research papers on spherical drones and advanced propulsion systems.

In response to multiple questions from DefenseScoop, Gough did not clarify what AARO needs to accomplish to function at FOC.

“AARO looks forward to reaching its full capabilities to detect, identify, and attribute UAP on or near military installations, operating areas, training areas, special use airspace, and other areas of interest,” she wrote.

$1 billion US military aid for Ukraine not properly tracked – Pentagon

Nearly 40,000 pieces of highly sensitive military equipment sent to Ukraine were poorly tracked, a new report concludes

More than $1 billion worth of sophisticated weaponry sent to Ukraine by the US was poorly tracked, a new report by the Pentagon’s inspector general states.A redacted version of the report was made publicon Thursday, a day after the document was submitted to the US Congress.

The probe explored the implementation of the so-called enhanced end-use monitoring (EEUM) procedures by the Pentagon. The EEUM applies to a limited number of highly sensitive and sophisticated equipment and weaponry, such asshoulder-mounted missile systems, kamikaze drones, night-vision devices, and other hardware.

The US and its “partner nations” have supplied Ukraine with an estimated $1.699 billion worth of EEUM-designated hardware, according to the report. Despite the effort of the Pentagon and the Ukrainian military to conduct required inventories of said equipment, “Significant personnel limitations and accountability challenges remain.” A reported 59% of the total value, just over 1$ billion, remains improperly tracked as of June 2, 2023, the document reads.

Lack of proper accountability “may increase the risk of theft and diversion” of the sophisticated EEUM-designated equipment, the report notes. Thus far, the inspector general was not actually tasked with finding out whether the untracked hardware actually ended up stolen.

“It was beyond the scope of our evaluation to determine whether there has been a diversion of such assistance,” the report reads. The Pentagon inspector general “now has personnel stationed in Ukraine” and continues toinvestigate “allegations of criminal conductwith regard to US security assistance to Ukraine.” (Did the US set this up so that they will find criminal conduct in leadership so that they could cut loose Kiev and the leaders when the truth comes out?)

Claims of misuse and theft of military hardware, lavishly poured into Ukraine by the collective West, emerged early into the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, which broke out back in February 2022. For instance, sophisticated weapons supplied to the country, such as the US-made ‘Switchblade’ kamikaze drones or NLAW shoulder-fired anti-tank missile launchers, have been reportedreadily available for purchase on the Darknet.

Weaponry destined for Ukraine has also reportedly surfaced during conflicts around the globe, including the ongoing escalation in the Middle East between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

Moscow’s top spy warns exchange-program graduates of US colleges

America is trying to seize the slightest opportunity to shake up the situation in Russia ahead of election, Sergey Naryshkin said

Washington is planning to use Russian graduates from student-exchange programs in the US to meddle with the presidential election this March, the head of the country’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin has said.

Over the years, some 80,000 Russian studentshave traveled to the US under such programs as Access, Advance, Summer Work and Travel, FLEX, Fulbright, Global UGRAD and other programs, Naryshkin told the media on Thursday.

“In advance of the presidential election in Russia, the Americans are seizing on even the slightest opportunity to shake up the internal political situation in our country,” he said, adding that this includes “intensifying work” with Russian graduates of these exchange programs.

According to the spy chief, the US authorities believe that with “the right preparation”these graduates are capable of becoming “the core of the fifth column”in Russia and replace members of the opposition, many of whom had fled abroad after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine.

Washington plans to actively involve these graduates “in the political struggle against the Russian authorities,” he stressed.

A special training program has already been developed for them, focusing on teaching its students “the methods of inciting inter-ethnic and social hatred, of interfering in elections and discrediting Russia’s leadership on social media,” Nasryshkin said. A lot of attention will be paid toestablishing secure communicationsbetween the graduates and their American “curators,” he added.

An inaugural seminar as part of the program is to take place in Latvia’s capital Riga mid-February, the SVR director said. American spies, who work undercover atUS diplomatic missionsin Moscow and Riga, are going tooffer coaching at the event, he said.

As for the students who will attend the seminar,it won’t be difficult for the Russian intelligence services to establish their identities, Nasryshkin warned.

During his meetings with the leaders of the grouping in the Russian parliament last month, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said that any attempts to interfere in the country’s internal affairs are going to be “curbed strictly and in accordance with the law. ”The government is going to protect the freedom of the Russian people, their sovereignty and their right to choose their future” during the election, scheduled to take place between March 15 and 17, he reassured the assembled lawmakers.

Israel Calls South Africa The "Legal Arm Of Hamas" After 1st Day Of Hague Genocide Case

After the opening day of hearings at The Hague for South African's genocide case against Israel, the Israeli Foreign Ministery blasted the South African government, saying it is "functioning as the legal arm of Hamas."

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lior Haia further called the proceedings "one of the greatest displays of hypocrisy in history" soon after the first day wrapped up.

He also said that South Africa "seeks to allow Hamas to return to commit the war crimes, crimes against humanity and sexual crimes they committed repeatedly on October 7," in a statement posted to X, additionally calling South Africa's lawyers "the representatives of Hamas at the court."

For the first day of its International Court of Justice case (ICJ, or also commonly called the World Court), South Africa urged an "end to the targeting of healthcare workers, facilities, ambulances and civilians, including women and children" and "a permanent ceasefire and a diplomatic solution for lasting peace."

Despite it having no power to actually make this happen, other than symbolic censure, Pretoria is demanding that the court impose an order for Israel to immediately halt fighting and abide by a ceasefire.

According to a summary of South Africa's filing at the court:

The case lists the killing of Palestinians in Gaza in large numbers, especially children; the destruction of their homes; their expulsion and displacement; and a blockade on food, water and medical assistance to the strip as acts of genocide. It also includes the destruction of essential health services crucial for the survival of pregnant women and babies as further crimes of genocide against Israel.

Israel denies the allegations of genocide and says it launched the bombardment and ground invasion of Gaza to destroy Hamas, which killed 1,139 people in attacks on October 7 in southern Israel.

To be sure, there is a minority view in South Africa— mostly among the small white community — that is more sympathetic to Israel. "The comparison to South African apartheid is fully embraced by some but rejected by others," said 28-year-old Mark du Plessis, a Cape Town-based multimedia producer who requested that his real name be withheld in South Africa’s charged atmosphere over the war.

Starting last month, Israel's Foreign Ministry issued a blistering rebuke in response, rejecting the filing "with disgust" and called Pretoria's accusations a "blood libel" - essentially saying the South African government's charge is being fueled by antisemitism.

How did we get here?

BlackRock realised that there was a tool they could use to seize control, and they called it ESG. Environmental, Societal and Governance. In theory this would be a ranking system to determine how moral a company is, and that would help investors decide if they wanted to invest into that company.

Maybe a factory pollutes the local river? Ordinary people who put money into stocks and shares for their retirement don’t like that, so in theory the ESG score of that factory would be reflected by that act, and investors could choose whether or not they want to stay away from that business.

But BlackRock is a business focused on ETFs, which means those who invest with BlackRock rarely buy anything individual, they buy shares in the entire ETF, and so individual ESG scores are entirely irrelevant to these BlackRock customers.

So what does BlackRock do to solve this issue? Well, they take a look at the ESG ratings themselves, and they then make a decision on behalf of their customers as to whether or not that business has a good enough rating to make it into that ETF.

BlackRock is the company that gives these investments their ESG ratings, and they’re the ones who decide whether or not those ESG ratings matter, and so a conflict emerged.

Second-Largest Foreign Owner Of US Land Is A Chinese Communist Party Member

The second-largest foreign landowner in the U.S. is a Chinese billionaire who it has been determined is a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), according to a Daily Caller News Foundation review of Chinese-language news reports.

Chen Tianqiao, the founder, chairman and CEO of global investment firm Shanda Group, owns approximately 200,000 acres of land in Oregon, according to Land Report. Chen also has extensive ties to the Chinese government, ranging from CCP membership to executive roles in CCP-affiliated organizations, according to a DCNF review of Chinese-language media reports.

In 2015, Chen acquired 198,000 acres in Oregon, according to Land Report. The $85 million purchase made the Chinese national the 82nd-largest property owner in the U.S. and the second-largest foreign U.S. land owner, Bloomberg reported, second only to a Canadian family who owns over 1 million acres of Maine.

Oregon’s Bull Springs Skyline Forest accounts for approximately 33,000 of Chen’s acreage, according to Land Report. The forest is located west of Bend, Oregon, and is home to springs, creeks, timberland and wildlife, according to the Bull Springs Skyline Forest website.

Oregon Republican Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer said she was “deeply concerned that individuals tied to the Chinese Communist Party are buying up timberland, which is one of our most precious and finite resources.”

“Foreign ownership of United States lands is a serious problem that has rightfully sparked unease among farmers, ranchers and foresters across the country,” Chavez-DeRemer told the DCNF.

Chen also owns several urban properties in the U.S., including the Vanderbilt Mansion in Manhattan, the Seeley Mudd Estate near Los Angeles and a 150,000 square-foot research facility at Caltech called the Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute for Neuroscience — each worth tens of millions of dollars, according to Land Report.

Chinese ownership of U.S. land, in particular agricultural land, has come under increased scrutiny from GOP governors, who see it as a potential national security threat. Several states, including Florida, have taken legislative and executive action to ban Chinese ownership of U.S. farmland, the most recent being Missouri Gov. Mike Parson’s January 2024 executive order banning such purchases near military installations.

16K Chinese Migrants Apprehended by Border Patrol Since October

Border Patrol agents apprehended nearly 16,000 Chinese migrants who crossed the border between ports of entry since the new fiscal year began on October 1, according to unofficial reports reviewed by Breitbart Texas. This number is nearly two-thirds of the Chinese migrants apprehended during the entire Fiscal Year 23, which ended on September 30.

Since October 1, 2023, Border Patrol agents apprehended approximately 15,800 Chinese nationals who illegally crossed the border between ports of entry, the report indicates. Official reports from U.S. Customs and Border Protection reveal the apprehension of 9,844 migrants in October and November. This leaves nearly 6,800 who were apprehended since December 1, 2023.

Since President Joe Biden took office on January 21, 2021, the apprehension of Chinese migrants illegally entering the U.S. rose from single digits per month to thousands per month. In February 2021, Biden’s first full month in office, agents apprehended only nine Chinese migrants. That number began to steadily rise to dozens per month in FY21 to hundreds per month in FY22 to thousands per month in FY23 and FY24.

The nearly 6,800 Chinese migrants apprehended since December 1, 2023, more than doubles the annual apprehension rate of any year before the Biden administration in Border Patrol reports dating back to 2007.

Letitia James is now seeking $370 million in ‘damages’ (up from $250 million) when there is no victim in this fraud case and she is also seeking to ban Trump and his sons from operating any businesses in New York. She accused Trump of inflating his assets and defrauding lenders and insurance companies.

Williams testified that Trump’s stated assets are merely an opinion and a difference of opinion in asset values does not disqualify the potential borrower from a loan.

“It’s just a difference of opinion,” Williams said, according to Bloomberg.

Trump’s defense attorney argued that Deutsche Bank conducted its own due diligence and made their own decision to loan Trump money.

It turns out Letitia James has visited the Biden White House three times as she prosecutes Biden’s top political rival Donald Trump.

Details of her White House visits were not immediately clear.

First Chris Christie trashed Nikki Haley on an open mic as he dropped out of the presidential primary. Then Haley and Ron DeSantis spent the night bloodying each other on a debate stage in Iowa.

And as the Republican presidential campaign turned fully toward the first caucus state on Wednesday, it could hardly have gone better for the frontrunner, Donald Trump.

As he basked in the adulation of a friendly audience at a Fox News town hall, signing hats and shaking hands, two miles to the west, the former U.N. ambassador and Florida governor bludgeoned each other in a debate that became so personal and vitriolic they once again left Trump largely unscathed.

Sir William says the government will be "reluctant" to take military action, but he notes that Defence Secretary Grant Shapps has hinted it might happen if the Houthis didn't stop.

He thinks military targets in Yemen have been identified, and adds we could see British planes, but more likely missiles from navy ships in the Red Sea, fired.

"I would expect that if there is action overnight tonight, there will be a statement in parliament tomorrow," he adds.

"They won't spend a lot of time pondering it, giving Houthis time to cover up their missiles and move them out of harm's way."

In one email Joe Biden signed off on a brief pause of Secret Service protection for son Hunter and granddaughter Natalie Biden during a Kosovo trip.

Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch obtained a tranche of Joe Biden alias emails in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the National Archives (NARA).

The National Archives previously confirmed through a FOIA response that they found 5,138 email messages and 25 electronic files pertaining to the known Joe Biden pseudonym accounts robinware456@gmail.com, JRBWare@gmail.com and Robert.L.Peters@pci.gov.

After missing the deadline to turn over the requested documents, the National Archives said it located 82,000 pages of emails then-Vice President Joe Biden sent or received on three separate private pseudonym accounts to conduct illicit business deals with foreign officials.

The National Archives is withholding 99.98% of Joe Biden’s alias emails, according to House Oversight Chairman James Comer. Up until this week, NARA had only turned over 14 pages of the 82,000 pages.

“Judicial Watch announced today it received 426 pages of records in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) that show then-Vice President Joe Biden’s use of an email alias to correspond with family members, including son Hunter and brother James; and that Joe Biden signed off on the cessation of Secret Service protection for Hunter Biden and Beau Biden’s daughter Natalie during an August 2016 trip to Kosovo.” the watchdog wrote in a blog post on Wednesday.

The emails reveal more information about Jill Biden’s stop in Greece in 2011 along with photos of her with US troops on the USS Ramage.

Other records reveal that then-Vice President Joe Biden signed off on the cessation of the Secret Service for his family during an August 2016 trip to Kosovo.

The new records include an August 18, 2016, email sent from his Rosemont Seneca email address to Secret Service Assistant Director of the Office of Investigations Jeremy Sherida, Hunter Biden writes: “Thank you. Both the Vice President and I sign off on the agreed upon requested interruption in protection for Natalie and Hunter.” The interruption in protection was from August 18 to August 22, 2016, during their trip to Kosovo and was to resume up their return to Washington, D.C., on August 22, 2016. The Biden family was in Kosovo where the country erected a statue of and named a highway after Beau Biden. It is not known where Hunter Biden and Natalie Biden went without their Secret Service detail.
