Israel's Controversial National Security Minister Ben Gvir In Serious Car Accident

There have been emerging reports Friday that Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir has been hospitalized after a serious car accident.

Regional media outlet The Cradle writes that "Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir has been hospitalized after his car overturned in Ramla while leaving the scene of a stabbing attack."

Axios correspondent Barak Ravid also confirms that the cabinet minister was in a government car which was in an accident and flipped over.

Ben Gvir has reportedly been injured, and images and footage from the scene shows what appears to be a very serious accident. Unconfirmed reports say that "According to Israeli media, his car had run a red light before the accident."

The incident comes as the country is deeply divided over the Netanyahu government's Gaza policy. Ben Gvir is considered among the most 'extreme' ministers in the governing coalition, also having ties with internationally sanctioned settler movements which engage in attempts to cleanse West Bank areas of any Palestinian presence.

Israeli media is already spotlighting controversial elements surrounding Ben Gvir and the Friday car crash, with Haaretz reporting the national security minister's driving habits have been flagged as dangerous. According to machine translation of the Hebrew report:

The Shin Bet contacted the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of National Security following several cases in which Minister Itamar Ben Gabir's car was driven in violation of traffic laws, Haaretz learned.

According to security sources, the minister's security guards complained to their superiors in the ministry that the minister was ordering his drivers to commit offenses. Traffic, including passing a red light at traffic lights, driving at excessive speed and driving on the side of the road.

Images from the scene show that Ben Gvir's injuries might be quite serious (though some reports suggest only minor injuries)…

I started with a complete belief that vaccines were the most important medical discovery of all time, more than antibiotics, more than surgery, the two others you mentioned. I was as convinced as anyone was.

I slowly made the descent into madness, to where you now find me. The journey, I'll sum it up in 60 seconds. The journey was: well, maybe the polio vaccine actually wasn't as necessary as we thought, maybe we could have solved a problem with doing away with rampant pesticide use. I got to: well, actually, the polio vaccine was completely unnecessary, but the others are necessary. The others, these diseases were horrible. Through additional research understanding that the measles infection was an innocuous infection that no one ever died from, with proper levels of nutrition, Vitamin A in particular. I started to think well, why was the measles vaccine invented? No one was dying of it, in the United States.

It wasn't a rampant terrible disease. Why did they do it? Well, it was because they could. It was because they thought they could eradicate the disease with a vaccine. And if you study measles, you will understand it started with the promise of eradication, you know, everyone gets the vaccine within two or three years, it'll be eradicated. And, and on and on it goes, till the point it's not eradicated.

So I transitioned into the: well, maybe there are some vaccines that are useful and others that really you don't need. I then made the jump to what I call a "first world anti-Vaxxer", which is: well, we need vaccines in the third world, they don't have the medical care and nutrition that we might have here. So sure, maybe a couple of hippies in California can afford to skip it. But if everyone skipped it, and then especially in the third world, no, you know, we have to do that, we will lose herd immunity.

I then realized herd immunity was a falsity in the case of several vaccines. And I'm beginning to wonder if it's completely false for all vaccines. You will know this certainly with all the COVID vaccine research you've done, the notion of herd immunity is false for the COVID vaccine. It doesn't prevent its spread.

Several other vaccines are certainly incapable of preventing its spread. And some of them, in fact, encourage its spread such as the oral polio vaccine that Bill Gates administers in mass all across countries throughout the world. So I am now at the point, I apologize, dear friend, I'm at the point where I believe vaccines are completely unnecessary. Even in the third world, I'm sure you've heard Bobby Kennedy mention the Dr. Peter Aaby study in Africa where they followed a large cohort of children who had gotten the DTaP vaccine and those who hadn't and the mortality rate of those who had gotten the vaccine was 10 times higher…

AI Surveillance, The Next Step In Excessive Policing?

The use of artificial intelligence in law enforcement presents growing concerns with the expansion of mass surveillance.

It's no secret that in 2024 the American police state already acts with wanton disregard for most civil liberties. From the county level all the way up to the federal, one of the most discounted constitutional rights of the American citizen is that of privacy.

To put it frankly, we are being spied on all the time. And it is happening with ever increasing frequency. We all know this. The existence of illegal mass surveillance programs hasn't been a secret for over a decade, since government contractor Edward Snowden came forward as a whistleblower to reveal the NSA's PRISM program in which millions of innocent Americans had their private data illegally swept up in an intelligence dragnet. And yet it is still one of the most blatant violations of basic rights that is widely known and simultaneously brushed aside by the citizenry.

Case and point is the fact that just days ago the president signed into law new extensions to warrantless mass surveillance, exponentially expanding the unconstitutional spying capabilities of the federal government to unprecedented levels and hardly anyone even batted an eye. But the fact remains that this kind of illegal surveillance of Americans is nothing new, exemplified by the reporting of award-winning journalist Meyer Berger in his 1938 exposé for The New Yorker, police have been wiretapping American citizens to illegally spy on them since at least 1895.

Fast forward to the present day and police have all sorts of new toys to help them snoop on citizens. From pervasive Stingray technology to Fog Reveal "mass surveillance on a budget" and beyond, the tools being utilized to violate constitutionally protected privacy rights in the name of the "greater good" are becoming evermore sophisticated.

This has become particularly true in recent years with the rise of artificial intelligence, and it's growing integration into law enforcement. One area in which AI has already seen some pushback from civil liberty advocates is it's use in facial recognition technology wherein critics highlight several issues with the technology ranging from overall privacy concerns to faults in the technology leading to misidentifications and false arrests.

The premise of expanding AI surveillance into everyday law enforcement is quickly becoming more than just a concept. In a September interview with Police Chief Magazine, Exploring AI For Law Enforcement, AI expert Frank Chen discusses in an interview with San Mateo County undersheriff Chris Hsiung the potential general applications of integrating artificial intelligence with policing. In the conversation one line stands out (emphasis ours);

"Technology can help officers get to the scene of a crime with more awareness by tapping into cameras installed in fixed locations or even community members’ smartphones. Once there, officers can use technology to gather and analyze all kinds of data: eyewitness accounts, video surveillance, DNA, fingerprints, and other forensic data."

While on the surface that may sound like a positive thing, helping cops more effectively do their jobs. When considering the fact that police don't solve the vast majority of major crimes and the copiously documented history of abuse throughout the institution of law enforcement across the country, it may be wise to think twice about expanding the mass surveillance capabilities of the enforcers of the state.

In some capacities mass surveillance of this nature has already been underway.

The protests, which began at Columbia University, have expanded nationwide - with copycat tent cities erected at colleges including Harvard, Yale, Berkeley in California, the Ohio State University and Emory in Georgia, with organized branches of the Soros-funded Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) having organized them.

The parent organization of SJP has been funded by a constellation of nonprofits which all lead to Soros.

At three colleges, the protests are being encouraged by paid radicals who are “fellows” of a Soros-funded group called the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR).

USCPR provides up to $7,800 for its community-based fellows and between $2,880 and $3,660 for its campus-based “fellows” in return for spending eight hours a week organizing “campaigns led by Palestinian organizations.”

They are trained to “rise up, to revolution.”

The radical group received at least $300,000 from Soros’ Open Society Foundations since 2017 and also took in $355,000 from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund since 2019. -NY Post

Exposure to a trio of pesticides found in up to half of all bottles of childrens' apple juice could increase the risk of developing Parkinson's disease in those with a genetic vulnerability, a new study suggests.

Experts from UCLA found that Americans who carry 26 genetic mutations could be especially vulnerable to brain damage related to certain chemicals in produce.

Parkinson’s disease is a degenerative neurological disorder that affects areas of the brain that govern movement, speech, and memory. It affects nearly one million Americans.

Pesticides are ubiquitous in American agriculture across a range of crops, and scientists zoomed in on three chemical classes: organophosphorus, organoarsenic, and n-methylcarbamate.

All are used to kill bugs on fresh fruit and vegetables, with some studies suggesting traces are present in up to 50 percent of fruit juices on grogery store shelves.

Abstract

Infants and young children consume fruit juices and drinks at rates exceeding those of older children and adults. Carbamate pesticides are known to be used on a broad spectrum of crops, including orchard and vine crops such as apples and grapes. Concern over potential exposure to these acutely toxic pesticides by infants and young children has increased in the last decade. Liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection was used to determine the concentrations of seven N-methyl carbamates and three transformation products in domestic and imported apple and grape juices collected across Canada. Carbaryl was the most frequently (58.6%) detected N-methyl carbamate in juice samples studied. It was observed more frequently in grape juices (grape drink) than in apple or mixed juices. Oxamyl and methomyl were detected in apple juice samples, although they were below detection limits in all grape and mixed juice samples analysed. Maximum levels of carbaryl, methomyl and oxamyl were 93, 6.7 and 4.6 ng ml–1, respectively. All other analytes were not present in any juice sample at concentrations above the method detection limit (0.3 ng ml–1). In all cases, N-methyl carbamate residues were well below the maximum residue limit established for apples and grapes in the Canadian Food and Drug Regulations. No estimated dietary intakes were above the acceptable daily intakes in any age–sex category, where an acceptable daily intake has been proposed. Carbaryl short-term intake estimates were calculated and all were below the proposed acute reference doses.

Top Ukrainian ‘fact-checker’ arrested for assault on Grayzone contributor

Marko Suprun, an influential NATO state-funded Ukrainian ‘fact-checker’ with close ties to Nazi activists, was taken into police custody in Washington, DC, after assaulting a contributor to The Grayzone at an event hosted by a neocon Beltway think tank.

The Ukrainian-Canadian host of a self-styled ‘anti-disinformation’ outfit — which receives thousands of dollars from the US and UK governments and works with Facebook to censor content — was arrested on Capitol Hill last week after assaulting a contributor to The Grayzone.

On April 16, Marko Suprun, who presents an English-language show for the group StopFake.org, and whose wife has served as Ukraine’s acting Minister of Health, was charged with simple assault after strangling, shoving, and stomping on Grayzone contributor Moss Robeson. The incident occurred during an anti-Russia event hosted by the neoconservative Jamestown Foundation, entitled “Russia’s Rupture and Western Policy.” Robeson was fully credentialed and authorized by organizers to participate in the discussion.

“This is the guy! This is the guy!” Suprun reportedly shouted, while forcing Robeson into the hallway, choking him with both hands, and pushing him to the ground, leaving his glasses broken.

Footage of the event streamed online shows that immediately after the assault, one of the organizers took to the stage to denounce the US-born Robeson as a “Russian troll” and claimed that The Grayzone’s contributor deliberately incited the physical attack against him, before admonishing attendees to behave themselves:

“Today we had a troll called Moss Robeson who provoked one of our participants and managed to get him in trouble. So I’m warning everyone, be careful. Don’t get into any arguments with anyone. Just walk away.”

Mr. Stopfake and ‘Dr. Death’ honor Bandera and court Nazis

Suprun’s organization, StopFake, publicly presents itself as a humble Kiev-based “nongovernmental organization” focused on fact-checking. Its stated goals include implementing “high standards of journalism education in Ukraine, raising the “level of media literacy,” and informing the public about “the danger of propaganda and dissemination of fake information in the media.” The group insists that it receives no government funds, stating flatly on its “About Us” page: “Stopfake.org is not supported financially or otherwise by any official Ukrainian organization or government agency.”

But the group’s claim of editorial independence is immediately contradicted by its own website, which admits just four sentences later that StopFake is “also supported by… the Foreign Ministry of the Czech Republic, [and] the Embassy of [the] United Kingdom.”

In fact, StopFake has received extensive funding from not only the British government but also the US-based National Endowment for Democracy, a CIA cutout that’s largely funded by Congress and the State Department.

StopFake was founded in 2014, but as a 2017 Politico report explained, “it was only after [the 2016] presidential election in the U.S. — when Russian fake news and cyberattacks were blamed for swaying the election in Donald Trump’s favor — that the site burst onto the global stage.”

“Almost overnight, the founders of StopFake went from provincial do-gooders to international media stars,” Politico marveled, while praising the group as “the ‘grand wizards’ of the fake-news-busting world.”

With lavish funding from Western governments and regular citations in legacy media outlets, Suprun has exploited his position in the “fake-news-busting world” to whitewash notorious Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera as a heroic resistance fighter who simply “refused to cooperate” with the Germans. His fascist-friendly tendencies do not stop there.

The arrival of the US M1A1 Abrams tanks in Ukraine was hailed as a turning point in the war. Coming in at roughly $10 million a unit, the Nato stalwart was supposed to provide the armoured fist that would punch through the Russian lines. But tactics evolve quickly in warfare, and Russia’s use of surveillance and hunter-killer drones has led to heavy casualties for Ukraine’s tank fleets. This is alarming for NATO. If Russia has found critical vulnerabilities in our armour, our borders are beginning to look very vulnerable.

Washington pledged 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine in January last year. The first batch arrived in September. They finally appeared to make their combat debut in February this year, with the first video footage released on the 25th of Februray. On the 26th, the Russians scored their first Abrams kill.

Two months after entering service, the Abrams tanks are now being withdrawn from the frontline. Five of the 31 tanks delivered last year have already been destroyed.

On the face of it, this is a damning indictment of the vulnerability of a weapons system that originated a century ago to the weapons of the 21st century. But this does not tell the full story. The usefulness of the tank demonstrated at the battle of Cambrai in 1917 is not diminished on the battlefields of Ukraine in 2024, when used as they are meant to be.

To begin with, it’s worth noting that the Ukrainians are not using the latest and best model of the M1A1. Some of the features that make the tank more durable and hard hitting have been removed to avoid them falling into Russian hands.

But we should also consider what the tank was intended to do. Enthusiastically backed by Winston Churchill, the tank was based around the attributes of firepower, protection and mobility. As the German tactician General Heinz Guderian realised when he conceived Blitzkrieg warfare, it is shock action that the tank is most adept at, where its ability to manoeuvre at high speed and pack a huge punch gives it a battle winning role.

When used as a pillbox however, it just exploits its firepower at the expense of its manoeuvrability. This appears to be how the Ukrainian armed forces are deploying it, and makes it very vulnerable to drone attack.

Some changes to defences may also be required. Even modern western tanks like Abrams and Challenger 2 were conceived long before drones became a serious threat on the battlefield. Now, in Ukraine, these modern weapons have come into their own. As the UK looks to recover and up rate its own conventional defence, this is an area for serious consideration and resource commitment. We cannot live in a world where drones costing a few thousand dollars have free rein to attack $10 million tanks where they are most vulnerable: from above, where the armour is only thick enough to stop machine gun fire.

There are simple work-arounds for this vulnerability; metal cages and explosive armour can be fitted to the tank roof to diminish this threat. Hopefully, in the not-too-distant future, tanks could be fitted with something like the British DragonFire laser system, which has shown promising early results in killing drones. If this takes place, the efficacy of drones will be radically reduced – until the next evolution. War continues evolving, and attack and defence continue to swap leads.

But in the nearer term, Ukraine must adopt a mindset based much more on manoeuvre type warfare, where rapid combined arms action can unhinge and dislocate the very static Russian invaders. This will require air power, artillery and infantry all working together with the tanks to punch holes in Russian defences and run riot in the rear areas.

There is some reason for optimism. The new long range Army Tactical Missile Systems (Atacms) provided by the US have already struck airfields in Crimea and are set to cause havoc behind the Russian lines. The much-vaunted F-16 fighters, meanwhile, are just over the horizon and should give Ukraine room to allow its armoured forces freedom of manoeuvre and action on the ground.

And perhaps most importantly of all, the Ukrainians are getting used to working with modern Western tanks. The ground is drying out, the ammunition is flowing in, and the armoured charge may be coming. A western tank travelling at 50 mph is a good deal harder to hit than a static one. The days of armoured warfare may not be numbered yet.

Multiple tornadoes ravage eastern Nebraska

The Omaha, Nebraska area has been hit by a monster storm that’s spawned tornadoes, baseball-sized hail and torrential rain, and caused what some spotters call “massive damage.” Authorities there, and across the Missouri river in Iowa, have declared tornado emergencies.

Spotters have already noted more than two dozen tornadoes in eastern Nebraska. One especially huge, nearly black twister near Waverly crossed Interstate 80, forcing drivers to pull off the road before encountering the winds.

Several counties posted tornado warnings and watches throughout the afternoon. Pictures posted to Rural Radio’s website showed several other twisters, as well as damage to homes and other buildings. Other photos on The Weather Channel site show homes completely destroyed.

Omaha TV stations, including KVET, are covering the event.

Tornado warning sirens were heard throughout the city of Omaha at around 5pm CT. Local media report thousands around Omaha are without power. Authorities in Nebraska and nearby western Iowa are warning people to seek shelter.

UK accuses alleged arsonist of working for Russia

Charges in London warehouse fire are the first under the new National Security Act

British authorities have pressed charges for the first time under the National Security Act introduced last year, accusing a Leicestershire man of organizing two arson attacks on behalf of Russian intelligence, UK media revealed on Friday.

Judge Daniel Sternberg of the Westminster Magistrates Court has also lifted reporting restrictions imposed on April 20, allowing news outlets to identify the suspects and the charges against them.

The government claims 20-year-old Dylan Earl of Elmesthorpe acted as a “conduit” for Russian intelligence and recruited men to set fire to two warehouses in east London last month.

“He was recruited online by those acting on behalf of Russia and the terrorist organization the Wagner Group to recruit others and engage in malign activity,” Prosecutor David Cawthorne told reporters. “The arson which caused a significant fire in a commercial premises was intended to send out the message that if you assist Ukraine there will be punishment to follow.”

London designated the Wagner Group as a terrorist organization last September – a month after the outfit’s head, Russian businessman Evgeny Prigozhin, perished in a plane crash. Any evidence of Earl’s connection to Wagner or Russia has yet to be presented.

Two units of an industrial park in Leyton were damaged by fire on March 21. It took eight fire engines and 60 firefighters to put out the blaze, according to the media. Prosecutors said the fire was set deliberately, using gasoline as an accelerant.

While the charging documents did not specify who owned the warehouses that burned up, company records identified them as Oddisey and Meest UK, parcel delivery services owned by British-Ukrainian businessman Mikhail Prikhodko and his wife Jelena Boikova.

“This is a highly significant moment and investigation for us,” said Commander Dominic Murphy, the head of the Metropolitan Police’s counter-terrorism command, noting that it was “the first time that we have arrested, and now charged anyone using the powers and legislation brought in under the National Security Act.”

In addition to Dylan Earl, the NSA was invoked against Jake Reeves, 22, of Croydon, for allegedly “agreeing to accept a material benefit from a foreign intelligence service.”

Reeves was also charged with aggravated arson, along with Paul English, 60, of Roehampton and Nii Kojo Mensah, 21, of Thornton Heath.

The fifth defendant in the case was identified as 22-year-old Dmitrijus Paulauska, a friend of Reeves from Croydon, who was charged with having information about terrorist acts but not reporting it to the authorities.

All five men are scheduled to appear for a hearing at the Old Bailey on May 10. They have not yet entered any pleas in the case. According to Murphy, the investigation “remains ongoing.”

~Not so long ago, when newspapering was still a going concern, being a "court reporter" was a much sought-after beat - albeit modestly demanding, in that one was expected to know something about the case one was covering and the legal questions it raised.

Not anymore - as I learned during my own trial in the District of Columbia Superior Court a few weeks back. The likes of The New York Times and NPR never sent a reporter to court to cover proceedings for a single day, but instead waited until the verdict and then had the "climate correspondent" write it up as a story about "attacks on climate scientists".

~And so it goes. This week in London Tommy Robinson won a truly spectacular victory over the bent coppers of the disgustingly corrupt Metropolitan Police. That's to say, the judge dismissed the case, as I put it, "on the quaint grounds that his arrest was not lawful". None of it was lawful - not the "dispersal order", not the plods' physical manhandling, not the bail conditions, not one jot or tittle. Robinson's victory was total - and that's a good thing if you believe in, as the Met apparently do not, the rule of law.

But you won't know that if you watch, say, Sky News. The accused's frustration at being questioned by Sky court reporter Bonehedda McArsepants is wholly merited:

We went to that court case every day and I can tell you what was amazing to me and super depressing was it was packed, the courtroom, with journalists from all over the world - packed. We had to get up at four o'clock in the morning and stand in the cold, and anyway all of that, right..?

But here's what the defence brought out. Here's the question: if you were raped, do you think you would write to your rapist afterwards and say, 'I'd love you to meet my mother'? Do you think you would write to your rapist hundreds of emails saying, 'You mean more to me than my father. Can we meet?' Would you write—I'll just do one more and then I'm stopping - would you write to your rapist the day after you were raped and say, 'I'd love to go to London. STEYN: Okay, just to be clear here: Harvey Weinstein is a disgusting individual and a totally repulsive creature, and a man with very strange personal habits, particularly if you happen to like potted plants… And you certainly should not let your daughters anywhere near the guy. But the fact of the matter is that that trial was a travesty.

Well, it's taken a while but New York's highest court has belatedly caught up with Ann and Phelim:

Harvey Weinstein's New York rape conviction was overturned Thursday by New York state's highest court, which ordered that the disgraced Hollywood mogul should face a new trial.

In a 4-3 ruling, the New York State Court of Appeals found that a Manhattan judge "erroneously" allowed testimony from three women whose allegations weren't connected to the case.

That's not a small error. American "justice" is all about what the judge permits to be put before the jury: huge amounts of billable hours are spent in pre-trial bollocks about keeping stuff out and getting other stuff in. In my own case, for example, I was not allowed to bring up the British Columbia Supreme Court's decision in Mann's suit against Tim Ball …but Mann got away with breezily perjuring himself in the witness box re the Ball case. Yet, even by the woeful standards of the DC septic tank, Weinstein's judge - one James Burke - had only the shakiest grasp of the concept of impartial justice …and four out of seven justices were fairly withering:
