oldfaggot here. haven't posted on a pony board in years, figured this shithole would be the best place to start. left everything around early season 5 and i'm trying to slowly get back into it. from what i can gather, the magic's gone, at least on the imageboard side of things. i refuse to debase myself by posting on cuckchan.
i figured i've missed out on at least a few seasons worth of happenings, as well as the movie. just starting watching though season 1 again, hopefully going to eventually make it to the new things i haven't seen yet.
with that said, is it worth it? the only reason i got into this shit in the first place was to cope with how much of a massive edgelord faggot i was, and now that i'm in a rough patch in my life again i find myself running back to it. was this show and the time i spent with the community ever anything more than a band-aid on the festering wound that is my psyche? i remember truly enjoying it, but was it for the right reasons?
why are we still here, jacking off to colorful cartoon horses? what made the rest of you stay when so many of the rest of us left for one reason or another? have you found anything else that fills that deep edgelord void in your heart? i don't think i have.
i didn't just quit /mlp/, or /pone/, i quit imageboards as a whole. /pol/, /v/, /r9k/, /cow/, /b/, all of it. i feel like all those years i spent on cuckchan, and then 8chan before things went to shit were wasted. piss in the wind. what does any of it mean. why did i even come here anyway? just to torture myself. i knew this place was dead anyway. i visited /pol/ a couple months back when the riots started and it was dead too.
the 10 year anniversary of mlp first airing will be this october. i'm 25 now. i was just some underage b& faggot back then. the weight of how little i've done in 10 years is staggering.
i guess i'm posting here today because i know you faggots understand me in some capacity. i need to draw some sort of meaning from these 10 years, some sort of purpose. i need to know it wasn't a waste.

Just came to this site by accident and decided to check out this pone board.
I resonate with ya anon. Back then I also deeply enjoyed the show and all the oc that came out of the imageboard spheres and the like. Was mostly a lurker more than anything, but had metric tons of fun with all the writefags, fanfics, art threads, music, videos, all of it.
I was just a weird kid and wanted to share something I liked with other like-minded people, for any reason, didn't matter if I was just using the show as a coping mechanism for my shortcomings.
These ponies are what actually pulled into imageboards and their culture in the first place now that I remember.
I don't know the kind of life you have had, but in my perspective not all of that time was wasted. You spent most of that time doing something you trurly enjoyed, period. Or were you just pretending to derive joy from it? I don't think so.
What else would you had preferred to spend that time in? I don't have an answer to that. I still had friends in hs, had great times with them, but these magic ponies helped me fill a different kind of spot that couldn't be filled with something else. And that is something I hold dearly. The pones were there for me.
Hope you can overcome whatever you're dealing with right now. Personally I dropped the series at the end of season 4 and plan on never watching it again no matter how low I fall. Would recommend the same, even with any other kind of internet space or board as well. The show hits me in the heart way too deep and I end up even more melancholic.
