Stock market is a rip off unless you sink tens of thousands of dollars into it and have incredible patience to wait for a decent return on your investments. It's totally possible to make your money back and then some but it typically takes years re-investing your dividends to build up the stock ownership, then years later for it to produce a lucrative steady income.

Stock market is very much a ponzi scheme, much like Social Security, the ones who paid into it first were the biggest beneficiaries, as time goes on and as our fiat currency loses purchasing power, newcomers receive far less value from it and future generations get robbed blind.
