Trump's lawsuit in Arizona is over, at most, 180 votes. This is a joke, right?

OPINION: President Trump's lawsuit in Arizona is a joke, right? (azcentral)

Julissa Barajas and Jesse Ortiz walk together before voting at Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Nov. 3, 2020, in Phoenix.

Attorney General William Barr on Monday authorized the Department of Justice to investigate any "substantial allegations" of voter fraud in last week's election.

Meanwhile, here in Arizona, the Trump campaign, the Republican National Committee and the Arizona Republican Party had their first court hearing on Monday on their lawsuit --- the one that contends Maricopa County poll workers “consistently, regularly and systematically” took action that deprived Trump of “potentially thousands” of votes.

Or, as it turns out, 180 votes.

And that’s assuming every one of those 180 vote would have gone for Trump.

At issue are ballots cast in person on Election Day that contained an overvote or other irregularity. The tabulation machines kick out such ballots, giving voters the option of filling out a new ballot or resubmitting the ballot, knowing that the vote in the race being flagged may not count.

Trump Sues State Of Arizona Over Allegations Of Voting Fraud(knau.org)

By KNAU STAFF

President Donald Trump’s campaign has filed a lawsuit against the State of Arizona over allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 election.

There is currently no verifiable evidence to substantiate those claims. The lawsuit alleges election officials rejected ballots from qualified voters in Maricopa County and that several witnesses say they observed poll workers incorrectly handling voters’ ballots. The Trump campaign is suing Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes, along with several other election officials. Arizona Governor Doug Ducey released a statement today saying there are roughly 75-80 thousand ballots left to count and that the state is following election law to the letter. Secretary of State Katie Hobbs maintains there is no merit to claims of widespread voter fraud in Arizona. The Republican National Committee and Arizona Republican Party are also listed as plaintiffs in the suit.

==Sharpiegate, voter fraud claim in Arizona is False (politifact).

The Sharpie, a pen its manufacturer describes as "born for unique, unruly, courageous, outrageous self-expression that never, ever fades from glory," has made its mark on the 2020 presidential election.

In an Election Night Facebook post labeled "Tonight's voting shenanigans," a woman in Maricopa County, Ariz., where Phoenix is the county seat, appears to be being interviewed. But it’s not clear by whom.

The woman claims she witnessed inside her polling place election workers forcing some voters to use Sharpie permanent markers to mark their ballots --- and that those ballots were not being read by the voting machines.

The suggestion from the man questioning the woman was that this was an effort to block the votes of people supporting President Donald Trump --- since people voting in person on Election Day have been considered more likely to support Trump over Joe Biden.
