Democratic donors give Biden a two-week grace period for polls to fall after debate(NYPost.com)

Biden campaign donors are giving the president a two-week grace period in the wake of his disastrous debate performance against former President Donald Trump, The Post has learned.

Any decline in the 81-year-old president’s polling numbers after those two weeks are up will become problematic and difficult for donors to stomach, a source privy to a call with top campaign contributors on Monday told The Post.

The Democratic National Finance Committee tamped down speculation that Biden could end his re-election bid during an hour-plus long Zoom call intended to put top donors at ease.

“The call was very reassuring,” the source said. “He’s all in, moving forward. He will do better at the next debate. The campaign is going about business as usual.”

“They got rid of any speculation he will drop out — the whole call is about the path forward.”

The committee told donors the internal surveys are very strong and claimed that it hasn’t detected any post-debate dip in Biden’s polling numbers.

Someone on the call apparently shared that the president will do more to address the nation in the hopes of getting donors, media and voters to focus on the issues rather than the debate – but they don’t want Biden going off script.

“They want to get him out there … but make sure it’s scripted,” the source said.

“They are going to have teleprompter at every possible event they can,” the person added.

The Biden campaign disputed this was the case.

“Their takeaway on teleprompters was incorrect,” a Biden campaign spokesperson told The Post. “No one on the Biden campaign said that.”

Biden addressed the nation Monday in a White House remarks slamming the Supreme Court’s decision to grant Trump, 78, absolute immunity related to official acts he committed while serving as president.

Biden, reading closely from a pair of teleprompters, refused to answer shouted questions from reporters about his disastrous showing at Thursday’s CNN debate or the future of his re-election campaign.

“He’s calm and focused on the future,” the source said of what Democratic officials relayed about Biden’s current state of mind.

“Donors are not asking for their money back,” the person insisted.

A Morning Consult poll released Monday found that 44% of registered voters are backing Trump compared to 43% for Biden.

The survey was conducted between June 28 and June 30 – in the days after last week’s debate – and showed Biden’s numbers falling from a June 16 poll, in which the president was ahead of Trump by 1 point.

A Massachusetts State Police investigator who came under fire for sending inappropriate texts about Karen Read — including calling her “wack job c–t” — was “relieved of his duties” Monday after a mistrial was declared in the case.

Trooper Michael Proctor was formally transferred out of the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective’s Unit after prosecutors failed to secure a conviction against Read, who was on trial for allegedly running over and killing her Boston police beau John O’Keefe in January 2022.

State police Colonel John Mawn said in a statement the “immediate action” against Proctor comes after the agency already opened an internal affairs probe into him over “serious misconduct” that came out during his testimony in the Read murder trial.

That investigation is ongoing, Mawn said.

Proctor was forced on the stand to read disparaging texts he wrote that called Read, 44, a “wack job c–t” and “retarded.” He also called her a “babe” with “no ass.”

While Proctor admitted on the stand the messages were “unprofessional,” he insisted the “juvenile” comments had no impact on the integrity of the homicide investigation.

The detective didn’t express remorse on Monday when a reporter confronted him at his home once a mistrial was declared when the jury could not agree on a verdict.

What to know about the Karen Read murder case

Karen Read, 44, was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly mowing down her boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe, as she was dropping him off to meet friends in Canton, Mass. on Jan. 29, 2022.

The night of O’Keefe’s death, the couple had been out on a bar crawl with Read allegedly consuming seven drinks in just 90 minutes, according to reports.

Prosecutors claim that after Read drunkenly ran over her boyfriend, she drove off and left O’Keefe to die outside as a snow storm was set to sweep in.

Read’s lawyers argued she was framed in a sweeping law enforcement cover-up and that O’Keefe actually died after getting into an altercation with his officer friends.

The two-month trial that had 74 witnesses featured stunning revelations, including “unprofessional” messages by the lead detective, and crowds of fawning supporters who cheered Read on outside court each day.

On July 1, 2024 Judge Beverly Cannone declared a mistrial in the case, since the jury was not able to reach a unanimous verdict after five days of deliberations.

Read faced up to life in prison if she had been convicted on the top count of murder.

“Get the f–k off my lawn,” he shouted at an NBC 10 reporter who asked him questions from the street.

Read was charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter while operating a motor vehicle under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

If she was convicted, she could have faced life in prison.

While prosecutors argued she mowed O’Keefe down in a rage and then fled, her defense team claimed she was the victim of a frame job by law enforcement to cover up that slain officer was fatally beaten up by his cop friends.

The district attorney’s office said it plans to bring the case to trial again.

Passengers aboard Flight UX045 from Spain to Uruguay shared harrowing video of the damage and aftermath caused by turbulence, with one customer uploading a video on X showing a man stuck in the overhead luggage compartment.

The man’s feet could be seen poking out of a bin after he was allegedly hurled up there by the turbulence, with a group of people huddling together to pull him down as a crying baby could be heard in the background.

Other footage taken by passengers show ceiling panels torn off by the impact of the turbulence, oxygen masks dandling overhead and at least one destroyed seat.

Air Europa said the flight, carrying 325 passengers and bound for the Uruguayan capital, was hit by turbulence while flying over the Atlantic Ocean and was forced to land in Natal, in north-eastern Brazil.

“The plane has landed normally and the injuries of varying degrees that were recorded are already being treated,” Air Europa said in a statement.

One passenger, who identified himself as Norys, said he was enjoying his flight back home from a European tour when the captain gave a warning about turbulence and urged passengers to remain seated and fasten their seatbelts

“A long time after that, there was a very, very slight turbulence, it was barely felt, and from one moment to the next the plane abruptly fell and we all went up,” Norys told Uruguayan outlet El Observador.

“Those who did not have seatbelts flew and some remained hooked to the roof,” he added.

Another passenger, named Juan, echoed other passengers’ description that the whole incident felt like something out of a “horror movie,” comparing it to a near-death experience.

“The sensation was one of terror, feeling that you are falling and that it does not end,” he told El Observador. “And you are aware that you are falling at an incalculable speed. And you felt that it ended there, that you died.”

Uruguay’s Foreign Ministry said the injured are being treated at the Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel Hospital, in Natal, with transportation being readied for them to return to Montevideo.

Air Europa said a new plane will leave Madrid on Monday to pick up any remaining passengers who did not opt to take a bus ride back to Uruguay.

The illegal migrant accused of shooting dead two Texas Chick-fil-A workers had previously sneaked past authorities to enter the US illegally, sources told The Post.

Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta — a 37-year-old native of El Salvador who is charged with capital murder — told authorities he crossed into the US illegally, but claimed not to know when or where, Homeland Security sources said.

He also told authorities he’s married with a child, whom he says is a US citizen.

The number of migrants crossing the border without detection has skyrocketed in recent years, amounting to roughly 1.8 million since the start of the Biden administration.

After he was caught by local authorities, Mendoza Argueta claimed he didn’t know where or when he entered the US. FOX News

Authorities tracked him down and arrested him around 2:50 a.m. Thursday.

The victims of the shooting have since been identified as 31-year-old Brayan Godoy, a father of four from Guatemala, and 49-year-old grandmother Patricia Portillo, FOX 4 reported.

Godo’s wife, Elisabeth, told FOX 4 that her husband moved to the area by himself from Guatemala and juggled multiple jobs to support his family back home.

Portillo’s daughter told the local outlet that Patricia’s grandkids will have to grow up without their grandmother.

He also is accused of killing 49-year-old Patricia Portillo, a mother and grandmother, according to FOX 4. via FOX4

“Our hearts are broken by the tragedy that unfolded inside our restaurant Wednesday. We will miss our two Team Members dearly,” Chick-fil-A said in a statement. “Right now, our focus is on providing care for our Team and the victims’ families.

“I want to thank the Irving Police Department for their professionalism and compassion. We will continue working closely with them as they conduct their investigation.”

Irving Police said Mendoza Argueta has a hold from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), meaning they’ve requested to take him into federal custody.

Mendoza Argueta’s case is just one of many recent violent crimes involving illegal immigrants.

Just days before the fatal Chick-fil-A shooting, 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was allegedly tortured and murdered by two illegal migrants from Venezuela in Houston.

Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26, and Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, have both been charged with capital murder after they allegedly lured little Jocelyn under a bridge and assaulted her for two hours before dumping her half-naked body into a local bayou, according to court documents.

Before her death, Jocelyn was sexually assaulted, according to KTRK.

Both Peña and Rangel-Martinez, had been in the US only a few months after they were vetted and released by federal border authorities after each separately crossing the southern border into El Paso, Texas.

A California couple is lucky to be alive after a harrowing robbery left them scrambling for their lives up a scorched Hawaii volcano — where their attacker “hunted” them with a drone and guns for nearly a day.

Justina and Alex Lucero, musicians from Santa Cruz, were visiting Maui for work in early June when they took a trip to Haleakalā National Park on a day off.

“Everybody was wonderful. All the locals and all the tourists that we ran into were great,” Alex told KHON, explaining how they were advised to visit the black sand beach near the end of the 64-mile Road to Hana, a remote but popular scenic route that follows the northeast coast of the island.

Upon nearing the beach, they encountered a “Road Closed” sign that had been knocked over but thought nothing of it, as locals had advised them it was no longer closed and that they were free to pass.

“We weren’t suspicious of anything like that,” Justina said. “We were told that the locals there will use the same road, and if they come up behind you, just pull off to the side and let them pass because they’re going to be not looking at the same scenery the way that you will.”

So when a truck came up behind them, the couple thought nothing of it and pulled over as it drove past — but after rounding a turn, they found it blocking their path, and a masked driver leapt out.

“[He] jumps out and comes right at us with the gun and stops us in the middle of the street,” Justina said, recalling how he demanded they get out of their rental car, a silver Mustang.

Alex said the criminal barked, “Leave all valuables, leave the keys.

“Empty your pockets, leave everything in the car, and start walking that way now.”

The couple did as they were told and began slowly walking away, but when they heard their car start and speed toward them, they took off running into the brush.

“Now he’s coming towards us. So we very, very quickly went from a fast walk to a sprint up this gulch,” Alex said, explaining they decided in a second to run for higher ground — straight up the ashen face of Haleakalā Volcano.

“He’s yelling for us to show ourselves. ‘Yeah, I’ll find you! I’ll find you!’ And at some point he counts down from, I don’t know if it was 10 or I heard him at five. And at the end of it, he shot the gun off,” Alex said.

Justina added, “At that point, we knew it was loaded. We knew he meant business.”

As the couple pressed on and the sun began to set, their pursuer was joined by two more cars, and they could see people searching the area with flashlights.

A drone was even deployed and scanned the landscape with a spotlight, which brought on a new wave of terror in the Luceros.

“This feeling of being hunted and not knowing the extent of, you know, what they would do, what they wanted and who he had at his fingertips to help,” Justina said.

Alex said, “I had mentally come to the conclusion that we were going to die.”

The couple kept moving throughout the night, drinking from a waterfall as the air grew cold, and come daybreak saw men on horseback riding with dogs. Unsure if the men were friendly or their hunters, the couple kept moving.

Finally, they came across a shelter where a park ranger was stationed, and more than 24 hours after they’d set out to the National Park, their nightmare was over.

Police quickly determined the nature of their ordeal fit behavior of a known suspect, who police described to the pair as a “menace.”

A week later, suspect Christopher Helmer was arrested by the Maui Police Department on unrelated terroristic threat and kidnapping charges — but he also had been caught riding in the Lucero’s rented Mustang and had allegedly tried to use their stolen credit cards across Maui.

Days later, Helmer was indicted for firearms, robbery, car theft and drugs charges connected to the Luceros’ incident.

“His victims have endured harrowing experiences, and we look forward to bringing him to justice,” Maui prosecutor Andrew Martin told KHON.

Police also noted Helmer had been “implicated in multiple incidents across the island.”

“With Helmer in custody, we want to reassure our residents and visitors that they can take comfort in knowing that this individual is no longer a threat to public safety,” MPD said

Florida prosecutors heard testimony that disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein raped teenage girls, but cut a plea deal with him in 2008 anyway, according to newly released court transcripts.

The 150-page transcript of the 2006 grand jury investigation reveals that the court heard testimony about Epstein sexually assaulting girls as young as 14 inside his Palm Beach mansion.

The victims also testified and told detectives that they were paid to find Epstein more girls to assault in a harrowing case that ended with the pedophile sentenced to less than two years in prison after taking a plea deal.

Florida Circuit Judge Luis Delgado, who released the pages on Monday, warned that the transcript would likely outrage anyone who read them.

The transcripts show that Palm Beach Police Detective Joe Recarey began the investigation against Epstein in March 2005, when a woman reported that her stepdaughter had received $300 in exchange for “sexual activity with a man in Palm Beach.”

Another teenager then told detectives that when she was 17 years old, a friend told her she could make $200 by providing a massage at Esptein’s home.

When the teen got to Epstein’s home, she told investigators that Esptein demanded she remove her clothes and massage him, according to Recarey’s testimony.

When he tried touching her, the teenager told him she was uncomfortable.

Epstein then told the girl he would pay her if she brought other “girls” to his home, stressing that they be young.

“And he told her, ‘The younger, the better,’” Recarey said.

Over time, the teenager told detectives she brought six friends from her high school to Epstein’s home, including a 14-year-old girl.

She added that when she brought over a 23-year-old friend, Epstein refused and told her that the woman was too old.

The teen allegedly received $200 every time she brought a friend over, as well as a rental car paid by Epstein.

“The more you did, the more money you made,” Recarey testified. “She explained that there was going to be a massage or some possible touching, and you would have to provide the massage either topless or naked.”

Recarey noted that the 17-year-old who recruited girls for Esptein likened herself to “Hollywood Madame” Heidi Fleiss, who ran a notorious prostitution ring in Los Angeles in the 1990s.

The disturbing testimony has put a renewed spotlight on the 2008 deal federal prosecutors cut with Epstein that has been widely slammed as being too lenient.

The deal allowed Esptein to escape severe federal charges by pleading guilty to state charges of procuring a person under 18 for prostitution and solicitation of prostitution.

For a decade afterwards, Epstein would go on to create more victims before he was charged with federal sex trafficking crimes in New York in 2018.

Epstein, 66, was found dead inside a New York City jail cell in August 2019. His death was ruled a suicide.

Delgado, who had previously set up a hearing to discuss how and when to release the transcripts next week, decided to release the papers on Monday, the earliest date allowed following Gov. Ron DeSantis’ order in February.

He described Esptein as “the most infamous pedophile in American history.”

“For almost 20 years, the story of how Jeffrey Epstein victimized some of Palm Beach County’s most vulnerable has been the subject of much anger and has at times diminished the public’s perception of the criminal justice system,” Delgado wrote.

“Epstein is indeed notorious and infamous and is widely reported to have flaunted his wealth while cavorting with politicians, billionaires, and even British Royalty,” the judge added.

“It is understandable that given those reports the public has a great curiosity about what was widely reported by news (agencies) as ‘special treatment’ regarding his prosecution.”

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas on Monday questioned the legality of the Biden administration appointing special counsel Jack Smith to investigate and now prosecute former President Donald Trump.

The conservative jurist raised the issue of Smith’s appointment by Attorney General Merrick Garland in a concurring opinion filed after the high court’s 6-3 ruling that Trump, 78, enjoys absolute immunity from prosecution for “official acts” during his presidency.

Thomas noted that his points about Smith “highlight another way in which this prosecution may violate our constitutional structure.”

“[T]here are serious questions whether the Attorney General has violated that structure by creating an office of the Special Counsel that has not been established by law,” Thomas wrote, arguing that “[t]hose questions must be answered before this prosecution can proceed.”

The justice explained Garland “purported to appoint a private citizen as Special Counsel to prosecute a former President on behalf of the United States” but “If there is no law establishing the office that the Special Counsel occupies, then he cannot proceed with this prosecution.”

Smith, who was serving as a top prosecutor for International Criminal Court in The Hague prior to being tapped by Garland in November 2022, has brought two criminal cases against Trump: One over the presumptive Republican nominee for president’s alleged mishandling of classified White House documents and another over Trump’s alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Trump filed a motion to dismiss the classified documents case on the grounds that Smith was illegally appointed, but he did not do so in the election interference case.

US District Judge Aileen Cannon, who is overseeing the classified documents case out of Florida, has not ruled on Trump’s motion to dismiss.

Former Attorney General Ed Meese, who served under former President Ronald Reagan, argued prior to the Supreme Court’s Monday ruling that the high court should reject Smith’s request to not grant Trump absolute immunity because he was unconstitutionally appointed to begin with.

“Not clothed in the authority of the federal government, Smith is a modern example of the naked emperor,” Meese wrote in an amicus brief.

“Improperly appointed, he has no more authority to represent the United States in this Court than Bryce Harper, Taylor Swift, or Jeff Bezos,” he added.

Thomas stated that courts need to rule on whether Smith “is a principal or inferior officer” in order to determine whether he was constitutionally appointed.

The outlet also reported that the brain-looking dome atop the Megazord doppelganger is purely a cosmetic representation and not the actual tissue in use.

Another potential use for the robotics breakthrough is the potential to repair damage to a human’s cerebral cortex among other neurological healing techniques.

“Brain organoid transplants are considered a promising strategy for restoring brain function by replacing lost neurons and reconstructing neural circuits,” the team wrote in their research, according to the South China Morning Post.

It builds on the dedicated research of Nueralink, an Elon Musk-founded research company focusing on the medicinal benefits of chip implementation in people.

The millionaire investment banker who allegedly slugged a woman in the face at a Brooklyn Pride event last month turned himself in to cops on Monday.

Jonathan Kaye, 52, faces two counts each of assault and menacing in the third degree, misdemeanors, and one count of second-degree harassement, a violation, over the caught-on-camera attack that sent the victim crashing down on a Park Slope street back on June 8, the NYPD said.

His surrender came after the footage blew up online and leaflets with photos of him were plastered on utility poles throughout the ritzy Park Slope neighborhood where he lives with his family in a $4 million, four-bedroom townhouse.

Kaye, who was initially put on leave from his job as outrage mounted, resigned from the Manhattan-based Moelis& Co. investment bank last week.

One clad in all black tried to shove Kaye from behind and ended up shoving his lawyer instead. The unknown assailants then got into a black van and sped away.

“He’s a law abiding man is a middle aged guy with zero history of violence. He was attacked by a group of violent protesters and defended himself to get home to his family. So, you know, we will be presenting more and more evidence to the DA that this was nothing more than self defense,” his attorney, Danya Perry, told The Post after Kaye’s arraignment.

New video shows a different perspective of the June 8 incident, in which Jonathan Kaye, 52, was seen slugging a woman in Park Slope.

The violence erupted June 8 when Kaye and members of an anti-Israel LGBTQ group clashed outside a café near the corner of Fifth Avenue and Third Street following the Pride event, according to police.

Sources close to Kaye insisted days later that he’d only acted in self-defense after the group surrounded him and tossed liquid on him.

Perry doubled down on Monday, saying Kaye had been “terrorized, assaulted, and surrounded by a group of unruly antisemitic protesters.”

“What the previously released video clip does not show is what another video and other evidence we have shared with the DA does show: that these agitators formed a ring at him, doused him with two unknown liquids, shoved him to the ground, and hurled antisemitic slurs at him,” the attorney said in a statement.

“Terrified and injured, Mr Kaye managed to act in self-defense to escape the situation and return safely to his family.”

The alleged victim, however, insisted Kaye instigated the attack and denied the claims that she and her friends had first hurled antisemitic slurs.

“He was literally a tornado of violence,” the woman, only identified as Micah P, told NBC4 last month.

“There was nothing — no slurs were said whatsoever,” she added. “We didn’t even get a chance to get a read of him. He was enraged and terrifying. He was a big, strange man who ran up on us and started swinging almost immediately.”

Micah, who claimed the chaos broke out after Kaye called them a “bunch of useful idiots,” copped to tossing water on the banker – but only after he allegedly rushed at them.

A 10-second clip of the ordeal, which doesn’t show the moments leading up to the brutal smackdown, captured a flustered Kaye allegedly walking away from Micah with his jacket covered in liquid.

“It’s good that he has been arrested and brought under some form of carceral control,” Ron Kuby, an attorney who reps the alleged victim, told The Post on Monday.

“No slurs were hurled. They didn’t know he was Jewish. They didn’t know he was a supporter of Israel — he just seemed like a random crazy man,” he added.

New video footage of the incident from a different perspective emerged Monday, showing the previously unseen moments leading up to the alleged assault.

In it, Kaye appears to be provoked and accosted by the group, who splash him with water and Gatorade before things get physical.

Kaye was released without bail at his arraignment.

“We are hopeful that the District Attorney will fully and fairly consider these facts, along with the surge of antisemitic acts, protests, and attacks that is ravaging our city,” his attorney said.

“We will aggressively fight injustice, and we look forward to a full vindication for our client.”

Kaye’s next court date is scheduled for Aug. 23.

A taxi driver decapitated a Jesus statue using his shoe outside a New York City church in a blasphemous caught-on-camera tantrum that is being investigated as a hate crime.

A sacrilegious scoundrel driving an SUV taxi pulled up to the front of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Flushing around 5:30 a.m. Sunday and calmly crossed the street – before removing a shoe and charging toward white marble statues of Mary, Joseph and Jesus, according to police and footage released by the Diocese of Brooklyn.

The taxi driver wailed on the heads of Mary and Joseph with his shoe, then turned his attention to Jesus and hacked at its head until it went spinning to the ground, the footage shows.

“This is a very unsettling incident, and those who attended Mass yesterday were shocked and horrified to find out this happened,” said Father Sean Suckiel, the parish’s pastor.

“The Holy Family is the foundation of our faith community, and this statue holds special meaning to so many in our parish,” he added.

The statue stood outside the church for 42 years, according to the Diocese of Brooklyn, and the damage done Sunday will cost $20,000 to repair.

Hitting people with the underside of a shoe is considered a grave insult in the Middle East, though it is unclear whether that was the suspect’s intent or if a shoe was merely a tool he had on hand.

“We must pray for an increase in religious tolerance throughout our city,” Fr. Suckiel said.

Seismic activity at the Kilauea volcano inside Hawaii’s Volcanoes National Park continues, with 500 earthquakes occurring over the weekend. However, geologists say the volcano is not erupting.

Increasing seismic activity is one sign of an impending volcanic eruption, but it’s still hard to predict when one will occur.

Geologists with the U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (USGS HVO) say Kilauea’s upper East Rift Zone began experiencing a “seismic swarm” on the afternoon of June 27, with hundreds of earthquakes. Late Saturday night, the seismic activity increased to about 30 events an hour, according to the USGS.

Between Saturday and Sunday, more than 500 earthquakes were detected beneath the upper East Rift Zone and surrounding areas. After escalating, earthquake activity eased “slightly” on Sunday morning, according to the USGS HVO.

Still, scientists say it’s impossible to say if the increase in activity will lead to an eruption in the near future or continue with earthquakes. According to the USGS HVO, previous eruptions beneath the upper East Rift Zone happened near Pauahi Crater and Hi’iaka Crater, with the most recent eruption happening over one day in November 1979 near the Pauahi Crater.

“Any substantial increases in seismicity and/or deformation could result in a new eruptive episode, but there are no signs of an imminent eruption at this time,” the USGS said.

Kilauea last erupted on June 3 from the southwest summit. The eruptive activity stopped several days later. That area hadn’t seen an eruption in about 50 years. However, there is no indication that magma is moving toward that eruption site.

Geologists warn that changes can happen quickly, leading to a potential eruption, especially at Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes.

The Volcano Alert Level for ground impacts remains advisory, and the aviation alert-level code is yellow for Kilauea, indicating that the volcano is showing signs of elevated unrest.

Let’s be blunt: This is shaping up to be arguably the worst seven days for the Democratic Party and its media allies of our lifetimes.

It’s a DefCon 1 level of panic throughout the party as Democrats process that, if the presidential election were held today, Donald Trump would win in a landslide.

We all witnessed what happened Thursday night in Atlanta: A slack-jawed, oftentimes confused and incoherent President Biden hijacking the biggest night of this campaign season in the worst way possible.

Concern about the president’s age and mental acuity — or lack thereof — was already the No. 1 challenge facing his candidacy.

After Thursday night, there is no doubt in the minds of even the most hardcore Dems that this man should not be president for another four minutes, let alone another four years.

On Friday morning, all of The New York Times’ top columnists went on record with calls for Biden to step aside, as did its editorial board.

That’s significant, considering that this same publication hasn’t endorsed a Republican presidential candidate since Dwight D. Eisenhower back in 1956 — meaning it endorsed the likes of epic electoral losers Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis and John Kerry.

Dread was also palpable on CNN and MSNBC.

Moments after the debate ended, Van Jones on CNN openly called on Biden to exit the campaign, while MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, who reportedly speaks to the president on a regular basis, asked on air if any Fortune 500 company would ever consider hiring Biden as its CEO.

Remember, just weeks ago Scarborough declared Biden was sharper than any GOP House member he’s spoken to in the past 30 years.

One would think the avalanche of anguish would be so overwhelming that the Bidens would crumble and simply raise the white flag, but that ain’t happening.

“The last time Joe Biden lost The New York Times editorial board’s endorsement it turned out pretty well for him,” sniffed Biden campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond, still rankled by the Times’ endorsement of Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar — not Biden — in the 2020 Democratic primaries.

“The vociferousness and overlapping arguments from pundits and editorial pages were striking,” echoed Politico’s global editor-in-chief, John Harris — but “the notion of prominent commentators having wide sway over the national agenda is itself an artifact of an earlier era.”

The palpable lack of media sway highlighted how most of the press has lost any shred of credibility it may have had left in how it has covered for Biden’s declining abilities.

Remember how they denounced videos of Biden’s clear cognitive decline and called them “cheap fakes” designed to manipulate voters? How’s that narrative look now?

At Camp David over the weekend, the Biden family was reportedly furious.

Not angry with the commander-in-chief, of course, but with his debate prep team (which somehow consisted of 16 people) — as if poor preparation was the problem, rather than Biden’s mental meltdown in front of more than 50 million people in real time.

So what happens from here?

Will the Times and other publications who have called for Biden to drop out continue this drumbeat as the campaign grinds on?

Will they advocate for a candidate who wasn’t even on the primary ballot — think Gavin Newson or Gretchen Whitmer or Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton — to advance the narrative?

If so, how will Kamala Harris, who believes the nomination should be hers if her boss goes away, react to being snubbed? What will black Democratic voters think?

Will they endorse someone even farther to the left, like a Cornell West?

Or will they just pretend their days-long freak-out never happened, as Biden remains atop the ticket?

To top off this terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week for Team Blue, the Supreme Court on Monday ruled 6-3 that Donald Trump had “absolute immunity” as president when conducting official acts.

From a macro perspective, that means most legal experts now believe there’s no way for Jack Smith’s election-interference case against Trump — the most serious and highest-profile prosecution he faces — to be tried before Election Day.

If so, the 2024 election will come down to the contrast between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, in terms of both issues and health.

For Biden and the Democrats, that isn’t a good thing.

With Election Day only 125 days away, the left is facing an absolute train wreck of its own making.

Trump leads in every swing state, and is tied or even leading in blue states like New Jersey, Minnesota, Virginia, New Hampshire, even New Mexico — none of which has gone red in two decades or more.

After everything that happened to his opponent and the party this week, Trump not only wins in November, but wins bigly.

Because ask yourself this: Does this version of Joe Biden really have a comeback in him, especially with his horrific record?

Rhetorical question.

Former President Donald Trump has inched ahead of President Biden in the first national poll since the incumbent’s disastrous CNN debate.

The presumptive Republican nominee for president leads Biden by 1 percentage point, according to a Morning Consult poll released Monday, which also showed fewer voters than ever see the 81-year-old commander in chief as mentally fit.

The survey of more than 10,000 registered voters, conducted between June 28 and June 30, found Trump with 44% support compared to Biden’s 43% backing.

The same poll had Biden leading the 78-year-old former president as recently as June 16 – by 1 percentage point – and showed both candidates tied last week, prior to the debate, on June 23.

“The relative stasis in the race suggests Biden’s alarming debate performance might not have surprised voters as much as it surprised Democrats in Washington,” the pollster said.

However, concern over Biden’s mental and physical fitness in the aftermath of his showdown with Trump has sharply increased.

Overall, only 37% of voters said the president is mentally fit for office – down 6 points from Morning Consult’s last pre-debate survey.

The drop was driven by Democratic voters, of whom 68% believe Biden is fit enough to serve – a stunning 9 point drop from before the debate.

“Both numbers are the lowest on record,” according to the outlet, which has been posing the question to voters since 2020.

The poll also found independent voters favoring Trump over Biden (37% to 33%), and the former president retaining more support from his 2020 voters than his opponent is (89% to 82%).

Overall, only 5% of voters remain undecided and 8% indicated that they were planning to vote for a candidate other than Trump or Biden.

Biden would be 86 years old by the end of a second term in the White House.

Last week, Biden appeared infirmed and was at times incoherent – alarming Democratic donors and strategists – during his first of two scheduled debates against Trump.

The president has faced mounting calls to end his re-election bid following his dismal performance.

A separate Morning Consult post-debate poll of 2,086 voters found that 59% of independents and 47% of Democrats agreed that Biden should be replaced as the party’s presidential candidate.

Eye-popping 72% don’t think Biden has the mental and physical strength to be president: poll

Former President Donald Trump bounced ahead of President Biden in New Hampshire, marking a 12-point shift from December, a new survey found.

Trump narrowly edged out Biden 44% to 42%, while 4% said they would vote for Independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. according to a St. Anselm College Survey Center poll.

That’s a sizable swing from last December when the same survey pegged Biden ahead with 49% to Trump’s 39% and Kennedy’s 8%.

Unlike that December poll, the most recent one does factor in the new crew of third-party contenders, including Libertarian Chase Oliver (0%), Green Party contender Jill Stein (1%), and Independent Cornel West (1%).

“Biden leads among voters who dislike both candidates. However, more Democratic voters are drifting toward independent candidates than their Republican counterparts,” New Hampshire Institute of Politics executive director Neil Levesque explained.

“While 89% of Republicans are solidly backing Trump, Biden secures the support of only 82% of Democrats.”

Still, Biden retains the advantage in the most recent RealClearPolitics aggregate of New Hampshire polling, with a 3 percentage point lead in a head-to-head matchup.

Trump, 78, has the advantage in the national RCP aggregate and in most of the key battleground states as well.

Despite having a Republican governor and legislature the GOP hasn’t won a presidential race in the Granite State since 2000. New Hampshire has a paltry four votes in the Electoral College.

However, the poll indicates that Trump is running more competitively than usual for Republicans in the presidential arena.

Problematic for Biden is his ability to corral liberal votes. Progressives have splintered this election cycle over the Israel-Hamas war and hundreds of thousands wrote in some iteration of “uncommitted” in protest of Biden’s support for the US ally.

“For Biden to succeed, he must solidify his support among very liberal voters. Currently, only 67% of this group supports him, with 15% still undecided,” Levesque continued.

“Trump, on the other hand, is faring better among moderates (44% to 38%), undeclared voters (40% to 38%), and swing voters (39% to 21%).”

Some analysts have observed that Democrats in competitive down-ballot races across the country are faring better than Biden.

In terms of favorability, Biden scored 39% favorable to 59% unfavorable, while Trump clocked in at 42% to 57%, per the poll.

Among the so-called double-haters, Biden scored 30% support, while Trump nabbed 13%, per the poll.

A key source of reluctance for voters when it comes to Biden is age with 45% saying it made them “less” or “much less” likely to back him, compared to 45% who said no difference and 9% who said “more” or “somewhat more” likely.

Meanwhile, when it comes to Trump’s conviction, 43% indicated it made them “less” or “much less” likely to vote for him, while 35% said “no difference,” and 22% suggested it made them “more” or “somewhat more” likely to back him.

The poll was taken between June 28–29, just after the Thursday debate between Trump and Biden that pushed consternation of the incumbent’s age to a fever pitch.

It sampled 1,700 votes and had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.3 percentage points.

Hmm: If Rogers is so deep in the First Family’s affairs, shouldn’t she have noticed that the president can’t function reliably after 4 p.m., and reported on it for the “all the news that’s fit to print” paper? Or are Times “journalists” expected to do nothing but brown-nose when a Democrat’s in the White House?

FLOTUS insists that the Bidens “will not let those 90 minutes” of Thursday’s debate “define the four years he’s been president. We will continue to fight.”

Yet what the debate defined was Joe’s current unfitness for office — which Jill won’t admit because she’s not done being first lady.

Staying in the race can’t be good for Joe Biden’s failing health; it puts him on course to end his career in a landslide, humiliated after trying to hang on when he obviously can’t function.

But Jill wants him to “continue to fight” because she has her eye on four Vogue covers in a second term.

President Donald Trump’s behavior in the runup to, and on, Jan. 6 was outrageous: That much is beyond doubt. Yet Monday’s Supreme Court ruling guarantees that special counsel Jack Smith’s effort to put Trump on trial for that can at best only rattle for years through the courts.

The high court declared (6-3) that presidents enjoy “absolute” immunity from prosecution for “official acts”; it’d take months at least to get final rulings that some of Trump’s actions back then weren’t official acts, and the decision clearly puts the kibosh on some of Smith’s key arguments in his larger case claiming that Trump conspired to overturn the 2020 election.

In short, this is going nowhere before Election Day, and then the voters will have their say — after which the Justice Department will likely have to drop the charges.

Plus, Congress already has had its say, in the 2021 impeachment and Senate trial over Jan. 6 charges.

The best course now would be for Smith to drop the case altogether and for prosecutors, and their Democratic patrons, to swear off the use of further lawfare to take down political foes once and for all.

All that continuing this prosecution does is continue to sow division and weaken the nation’s already shaky political institutions. In the long run, the real victim here is the American public and its trust in the rule of law from a barrage of political salvos badly disguised as prosecutions.

Democrats can and certainly will keep pressing their political case, following up on Nancy Pelosi’s Jan. 6 committee.

We’re not forgiving Trump for refusing to accept the 2020 election’s results despite having exhausted all court challenges, nor for standing silent and essentially encouraging rioters to block Congress’ certification of the electoral votes on Jan 6.

Yet treating any of that as criminal actions has always been fraught, and the Constitution names impeachment as the way to correct presidential misconduct.

And the lawfare approach has failed; continuing it can only score a few pyrrhic partisan points at the expense of national unity.

Doesn’t America have enough real problems — the border, inflation, foreign threats — without having to endure more political division spawned by a judicial system many already distrust?

For the good of the country, the court’s ruling Monday should be an impetus to call an amnesty on any further use of all lawfare as a political weapon.

By the same token, Trump should vow that if he wins in November, he won’t prosecute President Biden in revenge.

It’s time for both sides to quit the games. Far too much is at stake.

Short-sighted escalatory tit-for-tat legal battles risk collapsing the very pillars of America’s political foundation.

After Biden’s horrific debate performance on Thursday, much of the media world reluctantly conceded that our 46th president looks like a lost toddler.

And then there’s Vogue — which literally couldn’t stop the presses. The fashion-bible-turned-Dem-PR-machine was already rolling out its July issue, with cover model Jill Biden in a silk cream Ralph Lauren dress that retails for $4,990.

The magazine landed on the internet Monday morning with a resounding, wincing thud.

It was tone deaf. It was tacky — but this shoot and interview, conducted months ago, would have been messy even if the debate disaster had never happened.

Jill has the gall to tell the writer, “We don’t need more chaos.” This from one of the country’s top chaos agents, a woman who is reportedly encouraging her visibly frail husband by telling him, and us, that he should keep running the country.

The sycophantic piece paints her as a tireless everywoman out in the world: the president’s eyes and ears. (Hey, someone’s gotta be at this point.)

“Look, I know that food prices are up,” she said, adding that she shops for her own groceries in Wilmington, Delaware. She still teaches at a community college in Virginia. She’s a “down-to-earth Dr. B.,” who assigns her students articles instead of books, “because books are expensive.”

“I tell him what I’m seeing, what I’m hearing — and he gets it. And this is where the magic happens,” she says.

But there’s nothing enchanting about Jill shepherding her husband through menial tasks to appear capable.

“Joe, you did such a great job,” Jill told him after the debate, as if speaking to a child embarking on his potty training. “You answered every question.”

No 2024 Biden campaign piece would be complete without a healthy infusion of the old fear-mongering Dem mantra “Democracy is on the line” — which Jill literally tells Vogue, before rolling out variations:

“Each campaign is unique. But this one, the urgency is different. We know what’s at stake,” she says. “Joe is asking the American people to come together to draw a line in the sand against all this vitriol.”

After the debate Jill Biden treated her husband like a toddler, telling him he did “such a great job.”

Too bad the Vogue writer never addressed Biden’s advanced age. Or how an abundance of trips around the sun have clearly taken a physical and mental toll on the incumbent, who is prone to fall, freeze and mumble.

At the 11th hour, the magazine added an online editor’s note addressing last Thursday’s debate disaster.

“[The Biden family] will not let those 90 minutes define the four years he’s been president. We will continue to fight,” Jill said with the deluded confidence of Apollo Creed going into round two against Ivan Drago.

But we’re not talking about the last four years. That’s history. We’re talking about the next four. At a frail 81, Joe’s sharpest days are in the rearview mirror. We know it. The Bidens know it.

Yet the president’s family — reportedly led by his wife and his addict son Hunter — is operating under the assumption that they’re entitled to a second term. That we’re living in the United States of Biden, not America.

Jill added that her husband would “will always do what’s best for the country.” Except step down, of course.

When most families see their loved ones careening down the express lane to dementiaville, they take the keys. The Bidens, however, summon a world class photographer and the exacting hand of Anna Wintour. Not to mention George Clooney to front a fundraiser.

They are arrogantly operating in a bygone era, when glamour moved voters. Relying on showbiz and fashion to make their desired illusion reality.

Ultimately, it’s about keeping a grip on the lever of power, and shamelessly exploiting an old man to do so.

In the Vogue profile’s opening paragraph, the writer inadvertently tells on the Bidens’ intoxication by influence.

“If you want to know what power feels like, try to get yourself driven around in a motorcade,” the story says describing how they “run red lights and whip round curves so fast I can barely take in the commonplace American view. Tract housing, big box stores, churches, office parks, semi-industrial no-man’s-land.”

Vogue gushes that, “It’s as if the world is holding its breath. For you. Also, rules don’t apply.”

Maybe for a time, they don’t. But Father Time is, indeed, undefeated. Biden didn’t break his leg, or get a knee replacement. His brain power is withering in front of our very eyes.

Sadly, Biden will be remembered not as a spry, verbal sparrer with the gift of gab, but as the picture of aging and senility.

Confused, doddering and in decline.

But the Bidens have their priorities. And Dr. Jill can now add another Vogue cover to her wall. It’s her third. Hopefully they give her comfort when she’s watching Trump’s acceptance speech.

Dozens of missing kids were found and three people busted – including a sex offender – in a five-week-long citywide joint operation conducted by the US Marshals Service, NYPD and Homeland Security Investigations.

Officials tracked down 41 “critically missing children” – including those coerced by adults into criminal activity or sex trafficking, or frequent runaways – during “Operation We Will Find You 2,” which spanned more than a month and wrapped up on Monday, the marshals said.

A sex offender with local warrants was arrested, in addition to two other people, who were wanted on charges including robbery and parental kidnapping, according to the marshals.

“We are committed to leaving no stone unturned in our efforts to bring missing children home safely,” Ralph Sozio, the US Marshal for the Southern District of New York, said in a statement. “Through the collaboration of our law enforcement partners and community involvement, we aim to make a meaningful impact in safeguarding our children and bringing anyone who harms them to justice.”

The kids – some who suffered from mental illnesses – were found inside random apartments, others camping out in stairwells and still others living on the city streets, officials said.

While some previously lived in the city’s homeless shelters or foster care, others were from out-of-state and ended up in the Big Apple.

One of the suspects was placed in cuffs after coming off an international flight.

“There is an epidemic of missing children in the United States,” Vincent DeMarco, the US Marshal for the Eastern District of New York, said in a statement. “Missing children must be reported and found quickly because they are vulnerable to sex trafficking, exploitation and can suffer unimaginable harm. I am very proud of the results of this operation and the impact it will have on the children’s lives.”

Marshals from the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York were involved in the operation, along with members of the New York / New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, Special Agents from HSI New York Human Trafficking Task Force, as well as NYPD Detectives from the Human Trafficking and Missing Persons Unit.

Former President Donald Trump on Monday asked the Manhattan judge in his hush money case to throw out his guilty verdict in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling that granted him absolute immunity for official acts committed as president.

The request came in a letter to Judge Juan Merchan sent by the 78-year-old former president’s lawyers, which asks the jurist for permission to file a motion to postpone Trump’s July 11 sentencing and dismiss the case, The Post confirmed.

Trump’s legal team is required to notify Merchan in writing before any motions related to the case can be filed.

The letter is expected to be made public on Tuesday, after which Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office will be given a chance to respond.

The presumptive Republican nominee for president hailed the Supreme Court’s ruling on Monday, calling it a “BIG WIN FOR OUR CONSTITUTION AND DEMOCRACY” in a Truth Social post.

Meanwhile, a Biden campaign official likened the high court’s ruling to giving the former president “the keys to a dictatorship.”

President Biden also slammed the court’s 6-3 decision, which will further delay Trump’s federal 2020 election subversion case.

“The man who sent that mob to the US Capitol is facing potential criminal conviction for what happened that day and the American people deserve to have an answer in the courts before the upcoming election,” the 81-year-old president said in remarks from the White House Monday.

“The public has a right to know the answer about what happened on January 6 before they are asked to vote again this year,” he added.

“Now, because of today’s decision, that is highly, highly unlikely,” Biden said. “It’s a terrible disservice to the people of this nation.”

Twenty people at the amusement park got trapped atop a roller coaster for more than an hour when the ride stopped on the tracks around 1:30 p.m. as sweltering heat hit the state.

Disneyland employees, wearing safety harnesses, eventually got the Incredicoaster riders down to the ground level, according to the independent news agency OC Hawk.

The trapped riders were given umbrellas to get some relief from the sun beating down on them before they were rescued from the 120-foot-tall coaster.

Temperatures climbed to the high 80s in Anaheim on Sunday.

A Disneyland guest who was staying at a nearby hotel overlooking the park told KNBC-TV that he watched the “Incredibles”-themed ride stall on Saturday from his hotel room balcony.

“I thought maybe the ride was closed,” VinceCrandon told the outlet. “I was really concerned for the heat and obviously for the people… it was not moving and was on top of the apex.”

Officers in Crawford County, Missouri, encountered something “out of this world” when a unique vehicle caught their attention.

Deputies pulled over a spaceship-like vehicle during a traffic stop on the interstate.

“These friendly humanoids, who have come in peace,” officials with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post.

The space car was headed to Roswell, New Mexico, through Crawford County for a festival on Friday evening, according to the post.

The vehicle was spotted committing a lane violation. It also had an expired license plate from Indiana, according to the sheriff’s office.

With the “wind/traffic of the interstate plus the size and aerodynamics of his vehicle, he understood that the potential for lane violations existed,” Public Information Officer and Undersheriff Major Adam Carnal said in an email to Fox News Digital.

The driver was provided with a written warning for the violations.

Within minutes of the Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity, liberal politicians and pundits seemed to move from hyperbole to hyperventilation. When not breathing into paper bags, critics predicted, again, the end of the republic.

CNN’s Van Jones declared that it was “almost a license to thug, in a way.”

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) declared: “My stomach turns with fear and anger that our democracy can be so endangered by an out-of-control court” and denounced six justices as “extreme and nakedly partisan hacks — politicians in robes.”

Blumenthal has previously shown greater intestinal fortitude, as when he threatened the justices that they would either rule as Democrats demanded or face “seismic” changes to their court.

Jones warned the justices that “politically it’s bad” for them to rule this way.

The comment captures the misguided analysis of many media outlets. The Supreme Court was designed to be unpopular; to take stands that are politically unpopular but constitutionally correct.

Court independence

Indeed, the Democrats have become the very threat that the court was meant to resist.

Recently, senators demanded that Chief Justice John Roberts appear to answer to them for his own decisions. (Roberts wisely declined.)

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer previously declared in front of the Supreme Court, “I want to tell you, [Neil] Gorsuch, I want to tell you, [Brett] Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price.”

Now Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) announced that she will seek the impeachment of all six of the conservative justices. She was immediately joined by other Democratic members.

Notably, scholars have long disagreed where to draw the line on presidential immunity. The court adopted a middle approach that rejected extreme arguments on both sides.

Yet, because Ocasio-Cortez disagrees with their decision, she has declared that this “is an assault on American democracy. It is up to Congress to defend our nation from this authoritarian capture.”

Previously, Ocasio-Cortez admitted that she does not understand why we even have a Supreme Court. She asked “How much does the current structure benefit us? And I don’t think it does.”

Other members, such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), have called for packing the Court with additional members to immediately secure a liberal majority to rule as she desires.

For these pundits and politicians, justice is merely an extension of politics and subject to the whims of the majority.

These are same voices who chastised Judge Aileen Cannon for “slowwalking” her decisions by holding hearings on constitutional questions. They pointed to Judge Tanya Chutkan, who supported the efforts of special counsel Jack Smith to try Trump before the election, turning her court into a rocket docket.

Chutkan quickly set aside this challenge, as well as other objections from Trump.

Indeed, at the oral argument, Chief Justice Roberts marveled at the conclusory analysis by Patricia Ann Millett in upholding Chutkan. He referred to the opinion celebrated by the left as little more than declaring “a former president can be prosecuted because he’s being prosecuted.” Chutkan and the DC Circuit were fast but ultimately wrong. Indeed, the Supreme Court noted that the judge created little record for the basis of her decisions.

In a perverted sense, Democrats are giving the public a powerful lesson in constitutional law. As Alexander Hamilton stated in The Federalist No. 78, judicial independence “is the best expedient which can be devised in any government to secure a steady, upright and impartial administration of the laws.”

This is the moment that the Framers envisioned in creating the Court under Article III of the Constitution. It would be our bulwark even when politicians lose faith in our Constitution and seek to dictate justice for those who they dislike.

An ‘Age of Rage’

In my new book, “The Indispensable Right: Free Speech in an Age of Rage.” I discuss other such moments in our history. This is not our first age of rage. During periods of intense fear or anger, people often turn on free speech or other rights as inconvenient or outdated.

We have heard the same voices of the faithless today. MSNBC commentator Elie Mystal has called the Constitution “trash” and argued that we should simply just dump it. Law professors Ryan D. Doerfler of Harvard and Samuel Moyn of Yale called for the Constitution to be “radically altered” to “reclaim America from constitutionalism.”

None of these threats or bloviating will work. The court is designed to stand against everyone and everything except for the Constitution. It was forged for this moment.

An off-duty NYPD cop was arrested Sunday after she and her husband allegedly broke down the door of her sister-in-law’s Queens home and choked their relative, prosecutors and police said.

Maria and Robert Villalta, both 39, also allegedly hit the victim in the face during the predawn break-in that started around 2:15 a.m., according to a criminal complaint.

After entering the home, Robert Villalta allegedly shoved his sister onto a bed and choked her.

He then allegedly hit her in the face, prosecutors said.

The victim told authorities that Maria Villalta also hit her and then wrapped both of her hands around her neck during the attack, according to the complaint.
