Or would you let her take yours? If so, how it would turn out?
I'do probably take hers, i wouldn't mind being called "Mr.Hakurei" I don't know how to explain it, i feel somehow very close and attached to my waifu's surname also 'cause it sounds cool

I actually have put some thought into this, and I don't think either of us would take one last name over the other. Instead, I actually think we'd hyphenate, with both her last name and mine. I'm not going to say what it would be, but it has a unique ring to it that I like.

Normally I think I'd say hell no out of pride.
Furude is an ancient and powerful name. It's even got some demonic influence in the kanji.
For Rika I'd be honored to take on the name Furude, like her father did. Her name is too beautiful.

I'll only let her decide if she wants to take my surname or not. After all, her name is Western-sounding, so it wouldn't be awkward for her to be called "Mrs. [My real surname.]"
As for me, I stick to the old custom: I won't. But rather, when in Gensokyo, I adopt another name, a Japanese one.

Ann would take my name. Her name is odd in Japanese. It's an English name, and uses a weird kanji reading to get it. Her taking a non-Japanese name wouldn't sound strange because of this.
When I played the game, I had fun coming up with a Japanese name for myself. It was easy to replicate the sound of my last name in Japanese, and I could use kanji that had a meaning that was nice. That way, she could use my last name both in Japan and elsewhere. Symbolically, recreating my last name like that also felt like a new life, now for both of us.

The idea of people taking someone else’s surname makes me feel uncomfortable. It makes me feel like a part of their identity is being erased, and I would not want that for either Flandre or me.
I would be more comfortable if we would both take each other’s surname while also keeping our original one. Her name would therefore be ‘’Flandre Scarlet [My surname]’’, while mine would be ‘’ [My first name] [My surname] [Scarlet]. I think there’s a beautiful symbolic behind it because it reflects more the idea that both of us are united and are in fact a whole.

That's actually a difficult question in my waifu's case seeing as Youmu is the heir of the Konpaku clan.
If she was just a regular human living in Japan, I would move to Japan, Japanize my surname and she'd take my surname.
You have the option to Japanize your name when you get Japanese citizenship and there's actually a (semantically) fairly similar surname in Japanese.
I don't like the idea of taking my waifu's name or double names. The whole point in having a strictly patriarchal or matriarchal naming tradition is consistency for the definition of families.
And both my country and Japan happen to have a patriarchal system.
And I also don't like the idea of keeping my unassimilated name in a Japan because I'm a proponent of complete assimilation of immigrants.
However, Youmu is the current head of the Konpaku clan and it would only make sense for her to keep her name and for at least one of our children to take on the Konpaku name as the next heir.
This whole scenario still hurts me a bit because my name is fairly rare and old and I'm the only (young) male in my whole branch of the family beginning with my great-grandfather.

I share the same problem lore wise, changing Reimu's name would be difficult, if not forbidden, since she's part of Hakurei bloodline. Taking her surname and leaving hers intact sounds a better idea. And besides a combination between hispanic and japanese surnames don't fit at all.
Japanizing my name seems fine too, i already thought about one i could use that actually makes sense in kanji and also resembles my name.

I guess it's similar, but I don't think shrine maidens need a direct male or female bloodline.
Also keep in mind that shrine maidens are, well, maidens. She wouldn't realistically remain a shrine maiden after getting married or even having children. This in turn means that she couldn't possibly get directly succeeded by her own daughter. It's really unlikely that Hakurei would even work as a solely patrilineal or matrilineal surname, but the same can be said about Konpaku.
Maybe Hakurei is just the title of the current shrine maiden? I don't see a point in having a whole family dedicated to Hakurei with none of them seemingly living anywhere near Hakurei shrine.

So you are implying she was choosen to become a shrine maiden instead of being inherited. It's a possibility considering Reimu is an orphan. However this doesn't explain most of her nature given abilities she was born with, personally i believe most of those powers are more likely to be from a heritage, but that's just my theory.
Besides the Hakurei surname may be something she'll have until she dies, i don't see it the other way around.

I didn't even know that Reimu was a foundling, but in that case there's also the possibility that she was found around Hakurei shrine and therefore named after Hakurei.
In any case, it's all speculation.
ZUN should really start to develop his characters' lores a bit more. It's really surprising that there are even so many uncertainties about Reimu.

I agree. Expecially for non-main characters - so almost everyone - the lore is so small that it's kinda frustrating at times.
I still like the idea of leaving out stuff to interpretation for fans, but sometimes it's too much. Meiling is a good example: canon is almost nothing for her, really slim infos.
I still love your work tho, ZUN. No hard feelings.

It's not even that the lore is small. Many character profiles contain a lot of information. Youmu, even before being a playable character, got that whole backstory with Youki disappearing despite having nothing to do with the actual story.
ZUN's lore is filled with mysteries, but he refuses to expand upon it.
Until PoFV ZUN was still invested in developing his characters. Imperishable Night had 8 playable characters and, although not fully implemented, four of them (Reimu, Marisa, Sakuya, Youmu) were meant to be Stage 4 bosses. IaMP followed featuring many characters from the first two games of the Windows era.
And finally we got PoFV with its incredible roster of characters.
But beginning with MoF things changed with ZUN focusing almost exclusively on introducing new characters.
That may have kept the series interesting for a while, but in recent years the relative popularity of newly introduced characters has been in steady decline.
He also got much lazier: MoF only had two playable characters and was the first game to have those uncolored sketches as ending screens.
The first part of the MoF interview in the latest volume of Strange Creators of Outer World is also relevant, especially the "anti-series" part:
https://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Strange_Creators_of_Outer_World/Introduction_of_Previous_Works/Mountain_of_Faith/Mountain_of_Faith_Interview_with_ZUN
Basically, ZUN thinks that giving fans what they want would be counterproductive to the sustainability of the fandom. With mysteries unraveled the content itself ceases to be interesting. While there certainly is some truth to his argument, I personally think that's just a sign of bad writing.
I think the EoSD 2 he mentions would be a great idea. It could be used to give us more background information about the SDM team and maybe even add another character to it.
I don't see how it could possible be detrimental in the long run.
Essentially, he isn't even just ignoring fans but intentionally opposing them.
We used to have a lot of lore discussions in Touhou communities, but in recent years it feels like most of the remaining fanbase has grown tired of his shit.

While I certainly admit that I'd like very much to know more about all the misteries surrounding Touhou - and I still complain about this, so I agree to that too - , I can't go that hard against ZUN honestly. I agree with him - one of the major factors that made me a huge fan of Touhou is the mystery factor. All the theories, speculations, and possible plot connections. It's what makes his work so unique.
He is going at it too much, that's right. But the basic idea is ok. And I don't think it's a sign of 'bad writing', is a choice. It's basically the complete opposite of Oda's approach on One Piece, where everything is canon and fully detailed (it's almost frightening how every single character has even a birthday and a zodiac sign). So yeah he should open up a bit, but not too much.
One thing I'd love to see is more focus on already existing characters yes, and less creation of new ones. That is certainly a point! I'd LOVE to see another Touhou entry on the SDM goddamn.
Will he ever do it? Hope so. With other characters too, eh. It's just a good idea, to expand your universe more.
And maybe giving Touhou a new surge of vitality.
