Hi /loomis/, longtime lurker, longtime fan of the board

I quit drawing when I started my last year of highschool. Seeing my work go nowhere since middle school made me give up. I was always a defeatist so giving up and hating myself was the easy part.

Now that's changed however and I am going to systematically start drawing once again, and post at least one sketch/exercise here every day. I plan to focus on drawing humans, and even though I'm re-learning from scratch, I'll give you the quick rundown on my drawing skill or lack thereof :

>only humans, no animals

>always soldiers or knights/medieval warriors

>can't draw faces

>always drew feet in boots

>always drew hands holding a gun/sword

>proportions are always off

I'll post my old drawings once I find them. Feel free to give me any advice, or just laugh and mock.

To give you people something from which to judge my skill or lack thereof

A drawing that took me just under 20 mins, I won't even bother dong the hands and boots, They'dbe too shitty and ruin my already subpar drawing of this blank-faced soldier

I guess I just assumed that if you're going to be drawing once again and taking it seriously that you'd be drawing from a book of some sort. You can get good just drawing things you see though, so good luck in either case.

I think it's pretty cute anon. I mean it's awful from a draftsmanship standpoint yeah but it's just a cute idea. Keep practicing. I want you to see what this sultry shark looks like three years from now.

Here's some of my art, I don't have much bc I haven't drawn much yet. There's no consistency to my shit either this is my shit that didn't turn out real bad. I want to draw more frequently though. Any tips or thoughts would be great.

Last pic is my cat, I 1000% recommend having a cat that hangs out with you while you draw. He was fucking around with my supplies and just laying down chilling while I drew the sleeping cat drawing and that's my best one.

I'm not even a cat person and I want a cat to bother me while I practice. Seeing your 4th pic also makes me think practicing cats is a secret stepping stone to anime heads.

Yeah I love it when my cat hangs out while I draw. If I remember to I'll get a pic of the cat drawing in image 4 and post it, I went for the cat equivalent of a sexy exotic girl gazing at you, I think I nailed that feel. I can kinda see how it gives an anime girl vibe too, now that you mention it. I don't know what it is about cats specifically that make them so much more fun to draw than anything else. Animals in general are my favorite to draw.
