I'm trying to get enough qualifications and a portfolio to access Architecture.

Unfortunately I'm a /pol/ack so I'm trying to filter the colleges and unis for marxists and shitty modern art prospectus before I commit to one where I might want to kill myself.

Good luck man, I'm pretty sure most all colleges and unis have at least some leftist bias. Architecture is something of a unique field so things could be different considering the direction you've chosen, though. Do keep in mind that "general" courses are probably going to be inundated with SJW stuff almost as a rule. I wonder if a technical or community college would be the right way to go. You don't have to take and pay for superfluous classes with those, do you? I'm kind of oblivious on the subject myself.

 No.244

>>42 I'm going back to CC for some art classes (have a BS-Chem, aiming to do ID). So far the teachers have been about 50-50% conservative/liberal. It seems like the best way to tell if the teacher is going to be a SJW is to look at their porfolio; if its got classical style or themed content, or if they do practical tangible goods (jewlery/furniture/metal work), they'll be alright. If they do modern art you're fucked.

The other thing is that most schools allow you to transfer credits which is useful for avoiding idiot teachers. I'll probably exercise that option to avoid a design history class taught by a teacher who has not given out an A to any of her students in the last two years. You can problably guess the shape of her nose, her political alignment, and her love of overblown rhetoric.

The other trick I'd recommend is getting a rubric for projects. If it's not clear what the teacher is looking for, make sure to get clear on it, and don't settle for a fucked category like "creativity". One teacher I had, graded projects with the following structure- "50,25,25%- creativity, execution, process", I got an A in the class but others didn't because of their lack of "creativity" (spoiler: their projects were frequently more creative than mine). I only got the A because I asked the teacher multiple times for feedback on the draft projects. The implied message of feedback-until-exhaustion being that he was unable to instruct me how to improve the piece and thus contradictory to an "A" grade.

I really want to go to some school with a decent animation program.
However, I just want to gitgud at drawing realistic/more detailed people before I do anything with animation.

That's definitely a good idea. You can't do anything before you can draw; I'd like to animate too and for a long time I thought I'd just "pick it up" or something, like it would just "come to me" or whatever. Dumb! You have to learn how to draw really well before you can make drawings that move.

This. Drawing is a good baseline skill so that you can flesh out ideas quickly no matter what artistic field you might be in, but you'll need some kind of formal engineering education to even consider actually making buildings.

While it's not exactly 4 years of art, most mechanical engineering programs should still have at least a week or two focused on old-fasioned, pen-and-paper drafting with basic two-point perspective. Of course all of your specs will be done in isometric but you'll at least be familiar with the basics.

Same as this. Except I'd be willing to pay for some private/small class live teaching.

Great advice anon. Since the anon never got back to me for more details about Full Sail, I'll just add here that the most important things I got out of the school were probably twofold: A) Make good connections with you're professors and fellow students. This industry is all about networking. I got my first industry gig via a fellow student and former instructor working at the studio. Don't be a dick. And B) be humble. When I first went there, I was used to being told I was a great artist by everyone around me. Eventually I was foolish enough to believe it. Then when I was suddenly plunked down in a sea of talented men, my skills didn't seem so great. Also, be sure to seek out critiques from everyone. I did a full 180 on this issue by the time I finished school. At first I was all like "Hey, it's my muse. I got this." I was stupid tbh.

Depends of your personnality. Those who made it without a school are the kind of people able to work A LOT on their own. I personnally can't do that, I need someone watching me, otherwise I'll lose focus and procrastinate.

I would advise any lurkers and other anons to check out ARC-backed schools, as well as ateliers, as they focus on realism due to the fact that ARC despises postmodern art and wants to revive the old style of art:https://www.artrenewal.org/

As for any /pol/acks, just remember that networking and friendliness are very important, so keep in mind that if you're interested in cartoons, there will inevitably be SJWs. The important thing is to not be an unlikeable cuntbucket to your coworkers, because Right or Left, everyone hates a cuntbucket.

It you like cartoons for like $1,000 you can get in AMB's inner circle on facebook for a year (or for $250 you can get access to his ridiculously huge library of videos). Like his style or not he's definitely a pro and having his ear is definitely worth the $1,000, but for $250 you have close to 200 hours of content (and growing) and get to see him interact with others which is pretty much just as valuable. Combine his character animation with the bitey.com fx course which teaches software and practical effects animation and I don't think there's a better or more affordable 2d animation curriculum out there.

I'm new to /loomis/ but I've always wanted to draw. I finished Betty Edward's book late last year and made it a goal to take a few drawing classes so I signed up to drawing 101 at a local art league. It was cheaper and more convenient than going to a community college and probably will have half of the shitheads. At least that's my hope. They go all the way up to full on live model drawing but I'd like to get my basics down first.

arch student here. The only marxist influence comes in some Architects jumping on the "muh utopia" train of postulating for future design of cities, but you can easily skip past that and focus on the actual matter at hand: construction, design and the business of it.

I made the mistake of joining architecture at a liberal college, so I've had to do plenty of tongue biting to not reveal my power level. It was disheartening at first, but once you get out of college and enter the real world it will be very much worth it, most of the shit lefties espouse doesn't fly in the real world where people are focused on making profit and getting projects built.

Deconstructivism is full-on zionism in terms of ideology, and the International Style (a streamlined Functionalism with globalist ideology) is pure jewery too

If anything in Architecture we have seen the bad stuff before it hits the social aspect

The problem, in which i think if these styles implementation are anything to go by, is that we are full of nothing at all these days, there's jumpstarts here and there but nothing concrete (heh), just everyone throwing ideas in the air to see if anything sticks.

We are left in a godless, doctrine-less society full of wandering ghouls. And 3D printers, that one will make our jobs easier i believe.

The redpill on FullSail is that their promise to find you a job after graduation is horseshit and companies will avoid hiring you if they see FullSail on your resume.

Go to FullSail if you've got five digits to burn and want a brutal crash course that will get you animation skills quickly. Look elsewhere if you want an easily found career path.

My advice is to make sure you're good at art and make sure that you really love making art before you go applying for schools. Get to the point where you can make some money off it with commissions or whatever. The teachers who are there are usually working or have worked as a professional in the field of your choice and will be able to work with you much more if you have a solid understanding of what you're there to do. It's usually better to be taught how to do complex shit by a mentor rather than basic shit that you could have just figured out with a youtube video.

I went but was legit below /beg/ tier since I had never really focused hard on drawing. People told me I was good and I took their word for it, so I applied to Uarts in philly (this school is liberal as fuck btw) and the school even accepted my portfolio and let me in. I honestly feel like I got scammed since it was pretty obvious that my drawing were shit and looking back at it I feel like the reviewer I was with at the time thought the same but they brought me in for the shekels all the same.

The college life was fun but I really feel like if I was at a higher level with my art that I would have gotten much more out of going there rather than feeling like I wasted my time and money like I do now.

It was a good school when I went there, I was in the animation program and the teachers were really good and I learned alot, but most of that was just figuring out how to use these complicated adobe programs that are too expensive to continue using after school if you're not making money off your work.

I'm pretty alright at the animating part of animation now, got really good timing and have a solid understanding of how stuff moves but that's it. Can't draw worth a damn. It sucks that I'm a lazy faggot and haven't really practiced hard enough long after I graduated to be at the level where I can really work in the industry at all. Had 4 years to do that but didn't for whatever reason. Can't do shit if you're shit I guess lol.

TL;DR be good at drawing before you go to school and you will be much better off. School is fun either way. I am depressed.
