Considering the number of replies to >>100308 , even when it's buried deep in another thread, I feel like it deserves to be its own post. Are libertarians just getting burnt out from arguing with everyone since the dawn of the internet? How many of you would describe yourselves as having turned into lurkers? What would you suggest to do?

Yes, I became a lurker, but I also became a libertarian thanks to the guys who were willing to make long posts about why I was wrong when I was a statist.

These days I focus on making memes that I can repost, since it takes about as much time to make propaganda as it is to make long posts, except this way we can just copy-paste it instead of typing the same shit out all the time.

I sometimes might argue out of anger but most of the time I don't. I get burnt out and see it as a waste of my time. That being said I just lurk around and I just try to learn and focus on the positive stuff.

More or less this. I stop by every two or three days but I'm just burnt out at this point and mostly just like to keep up on what anons more active in the movement are doing.

Dead? It hasn't even begun yet. As a coherent ideology with specific policy applications, libertarianism is really only 50 or so years old. Considering the movement's youth, it's gotten large remarkably quickly, and is definitely making its presence known. Rothbard once said there were perhaps 25 anarcho capitalists in all the world. We're not exactly a majority now, but we're large enough that most internet-savvy folk know what an ancap is and recognize the ancap ball dank maymay on sight. Most normies aren't outright libertarians, not most of them are sympathetic to at least some of our policy goals, and almost none of them are outright hostile. None of us are likely to see ancapistan come to fruition, but we can still do our best to maximize freedom for ourselves and our family. Be low time-preference. Plant trees under whose shade you'll never sit.

He has a point though. Libertarianism has remained depressingly stagnant and likely isn't going to go anywhere given its trajectory as being a backwater political movement.

>>103269

Meanwhile, Marxism is complete shit, I would argue is of comparable age, has already killed countless millions, and still continues to flourish–hell, it's probably going to take over the U.S.. That's not a good thing, and it's shit and depressing, but that's the unfortunate state of affairs. I mean, it took four years for all the Ron Paul fans to jump ship to saying "The Holocaust should have happened."

Ron Paul fans were never libertarian to begin with. It reminds of how the Dalai Lama was always communist, but he just didn't know it until he was introduced to Marx. Same goes for Ron Paul fans. They didn't know what they were, but they were fascist all along.

I made that statement in full knowledge of the historical context. Bastiat, Spooner, Jefferson, Mises, and the other precursors to libertarian thought were very important people to the cause of liberty, but I wouldn't say that they were the start of the ideology. As a political school of thought, libertarianism begins with Rothbard.

You know, I'm tired of this shit, we should really start looking for smarter ways to achieve our goals besides just banging our heads against the walls, trying to win arguments against retards.

We already won every argument when argumentation ethics was discovered by Hoppe, because everyone who claims to have an opinion must also claim to have ownership over their own body/self, so if they have ownership over themselves then they believe in property rights and any form of socialism can't exist unless you're at least willing to admit that you're happy being a slave who doesn't even own an opinion. It's the argument to kill all arguments, however, this only applies to people who are rational, which is about 10% of the population, your average socialist, fascist, liberal and nigger is a hysterical mess of emotions which will use any fallacy available to justify the intense feels that are so dear to them. It's like dealing with children in kindergarten.

>bobby doesn't want to share his candy!

>timmy doesn't want to share his toy!

>do something teacher government, waaah!!!

I think a lot of us realized this long ago, since we're kinda in semi-lurker mode where we're tired of arguing because we know it doesn't work, yet at the same time we keep bumping into something so peculiar and stupid that we are just compeled to write something about it, but if something like argumentation ethics is the penicilin that utterly disinfects a rational person from the mind-parasite that is socialism, then we need to develop its equivalent for the animals in human form known as "normalfags" and other low IQ, low empathy creatures that inhabit this planet. (I'm kinda generalizing here, don't take this shit too seriously)

The challenge really is to change our strategy to win without saying a word to anyone, however, even something like "winning" is so abstract and vague to us… what are our short-term and long-term goals anyway? We're really so fucking disorganized. We don't even have a plan to work with.

your kindergarten example is why we'll never win, people are taught from an early age to defer to authority. even the ones that 'rebel' against authority do it in service of installing even more authority.

Completely agree and let me kickstart the "goals" part.

The most realistic thing we can do to achieve any kind of liberterian life is "Free Private Cities" first project that is about to be completed some time soon.

If you wonder what it is here:

https://freeprivatecities.com/

A short introduction from a previous PFS video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qE_4gTVPpmU

I closely followed this because I wanted to be ready to hop to this new free city when it is opened up.

So my simple premise is this:

Our (any liberterean/hoppean etc) only realistic and close enough goal would be to apply and relocate to this city and after that working in cohesion to spread this model around the world a bit more. So that there would be enough "habitats" for like-minded people to relocate.

But first seeing this project succeed. Though I am not sure at this stage there is any additional support that can be given to person/people doing this except shilling for it through media platforms, but you can always ask them if there is anything you can contribute just ask them on their facebook via message:

https://www.facebook.com/FreePrivateCities/?eid=ARAXYwRM4vJl6r2mL3hxe7J_ws2uZoELGwijD9wqd8bZSrXJawvaJq5NO4bv2z5l-byATHtxMCeiCFt0

So here is my two cents. Go ahead contribute if you wish.
