Social/general improve thread

>>39589

This could have been asked in the existing thread but I selfishly want this topic to be its own thread.

So how would one practice social skills? I left my job so I don't interact with people except a grocery cashier every 10 days or so.

Where else is a place I can go to talk to people?

When engaged in conversation what are good tips?

Any tips in general to meet friends or ppl in real life.

Pic tangentially related

Everyday I try to do something that puts me outside of my social comfort zone.

For instance:

-asking a dumb question in my lectures

-keeping a conversation going with an elderly person

-talking to girls (rarely… :( )

-organizing events for my friends who all went overseas to meet up again

-defending an old guy from a pugnacious black guy (very proud of this)

Even when I sperg out and do something super cringe, I feel amazing for the rest of the day. It's strange

I don't know, but working retail for a short while improved my social skills a little bit, If you have very poor social skills its gonna be tough to get yourself into social situations, but with a job that involves very minor interactions you get used to it quickly and there is less pressure than there would be if you were to approach someone in public.

Everyone needs to start with the following two books: How To Win Friends & Influence People and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Practice-practice-practice, don't just read and think "whoa that's so deep" then go right back to doing whatever you always have.
