Other powders for handloaders, canister powders for factories, are often 80+ year old formulas. Reloading manuals from 50 years ago are still relevant today. Even the young kid Glock is getting on 30 years old, yes even the mighty plastic wonder is getting old. The MG3 was a mid WW2 design that shows that even the original GPMG's were built well enough to not become obsolete. What about the American Ma Duece?

The shooting industry has a problem, you have these advisors talking about new products and ideas to sell the public to keep people buying new stuff, to make shooting sports trendy with fashion trends and waves of new stuff to buy. The problem being the old shooting culture, and realists, realize nothing has changed in 30+ years or much, much longer. We keep jerking off to innovation and new new new and there just isn't a reason to any of it. In fact, the only reasons many cartridges died is because there are simply too many good competitors to choose from; new designs offer nothing better in a market of well tested and proven designs that are already well established. A late 50's AKM or FAL is still a premier rifle if you had to go to war. And don't mention that the Browning Hi Power isn't even obsolete, that if you lose a gunfight with it its because you fucked up and not because you had a lighter plastic pistol.
