I just finished the novel for Welcome to the NHK, and I thought it was very well done. It made me happy and depressed and the topic was very much relatable. While I don't need a novel that deals with exactly the same stuff, I was wondering if you guys knew of any books that include (psychological?) romance, sadness, anxiety, drugs, and general adult themes, while being down to earth. While it would hopefully be translated from nip, it could be western as well. Thanks.

I use Madokami to find most obscure printed jap media, but it has pretty crap bandwidth most of the time. Do you know of any better sources?

I usually get them directly from the translators. Probably won't do you much good since my taste in map books leans towards lowest common denominator trash. Quite a few people use Google drive to host personal collections of PDFs that they will share. Jesus had a pretty great library he shared with me once but damned if I have the link any more. /pdfs/ has a bunch of stuff you might be interested in as well.

Whoa whoa. There's hallucinogenic research chemicals in this!

Why did they so completely cut this from the anime? I don't recall even the slightest reference.

But I know from personal experience that would explain a LOT of his personality and shift in actions.

Like wow. I have to read this sometime.

Wait yeah, appliances coming alive and whatnot. I dismissed that as sleepy delusions at the time.

But I still don't remember any allusions to drugs in general.

Oh well, rewatching it with my brother to find out sounds good.

Try novels from osamu daizai, no longer human in particular. Kokoro from natsume soseki is also pretty depressing.
