Trieste is a nice place to visit, had interesting girls back in the 90s, now I dunno. It's the place with the highest number of old people in Italy…
Cividale is a little historic place with a lot of blue eyed girls, but everybody is crazy there. Same area, beware Mortegliano, the little place with that modern, tall, bell tower. All girls endowed with looks AND some mental disorder. The coastal area between Venice and Trieste has many great looking, less crazy girls.
Rome has the most interesting girls IMHO, as you can't quite tell what mixture of people they come from, Naples has both mediterranean and nordic types.
Beware, in general northern girls will stay with you as long as they feel the thrill and then expect you to GTFO without fuss. Southerner girls will outsmart you five times around before your instinct tells you something is not quite right. Make it 10 times for the immigrants from Albania or the east, nice eyes on Moldovans and Ukrainians.

There are celtic types here in the north east. I have met a 10/10 one from Latisana (forget your average vogue top model), a 9/10 from Mortegliano (actual model) and an undefined/10 from Udine (not canonically good looking in photos, striking eyes live and the most similar to your pic).
Two out of three crazy, the third unknown but probably good. In general going for a redhead means getting hurt.

No restriction of movement, in fact this is a huge problem for Northern regions, as the South can't into jobs because of Camorra/N'Drangheta etc. and general nepotism, so they keep moving upward and making the core culture of these places Southern. This mostly happens with people in education (as the South creates a shitton of elementary school female teachers who are just shocked, SHOCKED that they can't find a job close to their Southern hometown, despite knowing full well how many of them graduate), research and blue collar jobs.
This creates a twofold effect where people from the North are forced out of the country, because their own jobs have been filled by poorer Southerners (essentially building up the North-South racism) whereas white collar and managerial jobs for the South are outsourced to Northern companies, because that's the only field where quality is better than quantity, meaning there's a reverse flux of highly qualified Northerners stuck working in the South to make ends meet. Doesn't help that recently major Northern cities have become literally Chinese colonies (Milan is the worst offender, don't even go there ironically unless you're just visiting the main sights).
Really you can pick up any chart ever made about Italy in the last one hundred years and you can almost exactly draw the line where the Northern free cities were and where the Southern kingdoms resided. Even when Italy decided its fate as a republic, the North voted en masse for it whereas the South wanted to keep the monarch, that's the kind of cultural and economic divide the two regions have.
Ah yeah go get yourself some Italian Assimil, also remember that the kind of Italian you need to learn is highly dependent on the regions you're visiting, otherwise you'll get scammed by locals who'll use the slang and idioms most prominent in their region and swindle you or make fun of you behind your back. If you think it's something you can manage, there has been a recent court case of sexual assault where the Northern prosecution could not for the life of them understand what the fuck the bloke from Caserta they were prosecuting was saying. They literally needed two interpreters and are still unsure if they've got a strong enough case as is.

Getting a decent handle of italian is going to take a while, though. That's the first step. I'm almost considering halting the trip until I can speak fluently, in fear of getting nothing but a tourist experience out of it.
