Yeah, things are so advanced now that people take it for granted, fancy that huh? If you were stranded in a remote place could you make all these things? Yes some of it is "regular technology" now but if you read closely you'll notice it says Hovercraft AND Advanced Technology. And stuff which is related to it also goes as long as it isn't too low life (which would fit better on /cyber/ or something)

And lastly there's more than one type of hovercraft just like there's more than one type of aircraft.

Humans went into space in the 60's and since then we also got surface mounted technology which may have been used in some radio controlled devices like that one

What have you accomplished to further the technology of mankind for the better?

/tech/ and /g/ mostly just seem to focus on programming so this is more like a broader discussion of technology like about hardware (not just computer hardware) and other things with a mix of lounging and scenery (which might be viewed from hovering) mixed in

Some technology that you'd consider advanced technology already exists but only a few know about it, it might be perfectly viable and in use but hasn't entered the mainstream or is ignored by it

That RC hovercraft is cool, I wish I had one

I think I had something similar at some point but now I don't know where it is. I bet this video could trigger some nostalgia for someone

Me too.

>trigger some nostalgia

Absolutely. I vividly remember this commerical. I don't think that I had one as a kid. It is hard to remember, since I was autistically into hovercrafts for a few years as a boy. I think it was triggered by seeing a personal hovercraft as a grand prize on some game show. It had the same allure that a go-kart does to a young boy, but better what with being able to go on land and water.

Hovercrafts in the 90s sort of remind me of boat-cars in the 50s or personal helicopters in the 70s They invoke a sense of futurism - a reimagnining of everyday lives changed by new technologies.

Its more about using technology for betterment and less about low life

Like being able to get between places easily

I got one as a kid because I had good marks. I think it was from Dickie Toys.

My parents and I took it to a pond so that I could make it go on water. Fucking thing only lasted for a minute or so and then its batteries were sucked dry. I was so disappointed.
