Honestly Flynn or the Demifiend make the most sense because they're capable of casting magic on their own. But really the best option is to go with the SMT1 Hero and give make each of his special moves summon a different demon. Final Smash could have the the law and chaos heroes show up or something.
Also most SMT protagonists use swords so people would bitch.

you could have smt protags (devil summoner, devil survivor, smtiv, strange journey + 1 recolor for each) as a character like pkmn trainer and they swap between jack frost, pyro jack, and pixie, but their final smash summons mastema
