What kind of food and snacks do you like to eat /hikki/??.

Also question for current hikikomoris do you buy food online? do your parents bring it to you and set it in your room or outside the door? or do you go outside quick for food then return to your room or apartment??.

I like roasted beans.

Take dried beans, water overnight, cook (smaller beans like soybeans work without cooking too) a bit, roast in oven, add a bit of oil and varying spices, eat.

It's healthy, easily varied in taste, and you can buy all the ingredients in bulk without fear of spoilage.

It also fills you up excellently, so there's no fear of overeating.

I just buy stuff in bulk as much as possible. Sadly that doesn't work online due to exorbitant shipping fees, but if you only have to buy it every few months, it's bearable.

Currently have 4 20kg sacks of rice at home, a bunch of 10kg bags of different dried beans, multiple kgs of onion and garlic powder, etc.

Only problem is vegetables, but that's what a freezer is for.

I also love all types of fermented veggies, so I got a 9l fermentation vessel and a hundred or so 500ml glasses a while ago.

My go to snack has always been raisins. They are cheap and keep a long time which is really nice.

As for buying food shipping is too expensive and i don't really have any friends or family so i have to venture out to the grocery store every 3-4 weeks

White rice and to much concentrated carbohydrate in general (is sugar) is not healthy, and will eventually give you diabetes, you've probably done the research right? Beans are good but not too much, they can congeal like cement in the bowels and be difficult to eliminate (constipation).

Generally the closer you get to the Sattvic diet the better, but it's not cheap.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sattvic_diet

Vegetables that grow below the ground, potatoes, carrots, also bread are concentrated carbs, starch and turn to sugar in the blood.

I have a friend from India, vegetarian is common in his culture, he is under 40 years old. He just got diabetes, so I showed him Stevia to eliminate the added sugar, also explained that starch turns to sugar in the blood. Also high blood pressure is common in vegetarians, largely due to oil intake, it increases the viscosity of the blood. Plenty of water will help, but until you understand the role that vitamin K plays and the latest research you won't be able to eliminate it through diet. To much vitamin K makes the blood clot faster, to little and you bleed longer, the blood is thinner. Green vegetables have vitamin K, some veggies more than others. Foods that thin the blood, the best ones are Turmeric, Ginger, Cinnamon, pineapple juice. So now you have enough information to help you do more research, about food health. It's not easy to eat cheap and healthy it's kind of complicated but it can be done. Take care

Whatever is in the kitchen, I go and fix myself up a meal. I'm not really prone for eating food while I game. I prefer to stop whatever game I'm playing and go eat. I usually like to snack on peanuts or almonds. Maybe a muffin, cookies, or moonpies if we're lucky to supply some from the grocery store.

>Also question for current hikikomoris do you buy food online? do your parents bring it to you and set it in your room or outside the door? or do you go outside quick for food then return to your room or apartment??.

As strange as it may sound to some, I prefer to do mostly everything on my own. Getting food, getting a drink, etc. Parent buys food. Sometimes I ask what I want. For some reason I don't like food given to me. So I rather make it myself. If I'm too damn lazy, then we order pizza. Sometimes whatever we're in the mood for, we use uber eats.

Back when i lived with my parents i did this sometimes but usually only at night i would sneak out and microwave something to eat or get a drink in the day time while i was in my room my parents brought my food to me and ether left it outside my bedroom door or on my computer desk.

I used to live at my aunt's house and would do the same thing. Starve during the day, fuck the people downstairs. Just wait until all of them are in their own room, late at night.

I miss heating up pizza rolls and munch them with ranch sauce or sriracha in the quiet kitchen room, all alone late at night. So peaceful and no one to fucking bother you with stupid shit.

Just noticed this thread right after pulling my cinnamon bread out of the breadmaker. Turned out pretty well for a first attempt. The top collapsed a bit, probably cause only the edges of the tin are actually hot. Or it might be because I opened it immediately, who knows.

Anyway, I do share some ingredients with family - flour, sugar, stuff like that, but have to buy meat on my own, hence why I don't eat enough of it.

For quick meals, I buy cereal and instant noodles, also off-brand Nutella. I also make Cinnamon rolls from time to time, as well as donuts and stuff of that nature.

For dinner, waffles are a really quick one. There's also pasta, with cheese, sausage, ketchup and mayo. I can make pizza, and the crust is really thick so it lasts me a while. I can make kebabs, of which one is enough to fill me up for an entire day. I can also make lasagna, chicken with sweetcream sauce and a bunch of other stuff that i'm forgetting off the top of my mind. Lack of ingredients and me being unwilling to spend too much money on them is what most often gets in the way.

For snacks, I buy cheap packs of honey biscuits, 33 cents for 250 grams. For drinks, usually water, cause it's free for me. I drink it in giant 0.5l beer glasses. I also have a kettle and a coffee maker in my room for, you guessed it, mint tea and coffee, both once again in giant cups. I sometimes buy Coca Cola or Cherry-Apple juice if it's on discount, but I try to avoid that, since it is a bit of money.

Some sauces for flavour like sriracha, brown sauce, bbq, sweet chilli. Olive oil if i can afford it.

My mother provides dinner every day, which is usually pretty good. Other than that I mostly eat sandwiches toasted (burned) in a George Foreman grill, and occasionally reheated leftovers from yesterday's dinner. I eat pretty well overall.

I only drink water and (shitty instant) coffee. I'm hoping to start drinking loose leaf teas and proper coffee. I'd also like to start cooking some meals of my own too. I think these are tangible steps I can take to make my life more comfy.

I'm the one that goes to the kitchen to get dinner.

It's much less cool when you consider I was climbing out to avoid exchanging greetings with whoever was over at the time. I had a rope attached to my bed. I threw that out the window, 'rappelled' down, went to the kitchen and put what I could in my pockets, then climbed back up the rear wall of the house into my room

I never got caught but I think they must have realized something was up because they started closing the living room door when people were over, and they made a point of letting me know that I could go past without being seen. Either they're very understanding and supportive or they don't want to risk having to explain to guests that the disheveled man climbing up the side of the building with his pockets stuffed with biscuits and crisps is just their autistic son returning from a trip to the kitchen.

I kind of miss pretending I was on a stealth mission though.

I'd be happy if I could eat healthily but my parents are the true american kind and I don't eat much other than bread, butter and burgers.

What I did was I asked my parents if it was ok that instead of them buying/making me food, if they could give me a set amount of money each week and I'd get my own food. Try asking them that? If they don't just say yes right off the bat bring up the point that they wouldn't need to cook for you anymore, you'd learn how to budget the money they gave you, you'd learn how to cook and you could focus on eating healthy things. (Plus the spare cash you get from not spending it all is nice, I get 100 dollars per week but usually only spend about 60-70$, also since I started managing directly what I eat I lost 150 pounds, think about it)

My parents make pretty good food, the problem is they make too much. So I often end up eating too much, or if I don't eat it, it gets thrown out and wasted. Damned if I do, damned if I don't.

I will never understand why so many people do this. Is it really so hard to figure out how much food you normally eat then scale how much you make to match?

Probably because it's harder to gauge how much food you need when you cook for an entire family. As my mother used to say: "It's better to have too much than too little"

On the other hand I will never understand why people make a big deal out of wasting food, and that's coming from a poorfag point of view.
