Seriously, I can think of two better ways to have the story end.
First one is to force the girl to watch her sister get eaten once more, and the snake threatens the younger sister she'll be next if she betrays him ever again. Then the younger sister kills the snake, realizing her folly.
Second one is to have the snake eat the younger sister instead for her betrayal, and then tries to use the older sister as his new hunting companion. Only thing is, she's far too gone to be as effective and is forced to eat her after not being able to eat for some time.

I think, for me, the story feels rushed and the progression unnatural. The younger sister is standing on the precipice of her comeuppance as she breaks free of the hypnotism for a brief moment to pull her sister to safety. The snake has her in his clutches. Everything looks like it will end poorly for the sisters. Suddenly there's a jump cut to the village and everything's okay and the little sister has somehow gotten everything she wants. It's terrible writing. Kaa has been written as conniving and manipulative and suddenly he just isn't. He's been waiting for this moment for 5 whole chapters, and he just seems to let it get away from him. Why? He's constantly going on about how he despises failure and punishes the little sister, but lets her off with a slap on the wrist for depriving him of the prize he's been seeking. It doesn't feel like the progression of the plot is natural in this case and instead veers on a hard left turn.
Throwing Korra into the village girls seems like wholly unnecessary pandering and actually detracts from what it supposed to be an emotional scene.
The twist ending actually boosts the story a little for me. It just falls flat after the multiple hard turns of the little sister saving the huntress. After the cut away to the "new day dawns on the village" bit. After Korra. After being jerked around for 5 chapters with the one that just gets away. Then you have Kaa becoming complacent and lazy, and it all seems out of character.

I agree, Snake and the Girl started strong but failed to deliver on any scale you look at it. If you wanted vore (I did), you got screwed. If you wanted a good story, you got screwed because there was no set up at all that the girl would get the ability to hypnotize anyone, if anything it would be that she could not be hypnotized herself, that with her new found hunting skills would make her a threat in her own right.
