How many of you thought this was the worst shit ever when it started and experimented with dieting and workouts to not deal with it again?

If so what are your results?

It seems to scale with calories eaten, as a cursory observation, so that was one reason why I never wanted to be a fatass.

Are you talking about some specific method designed to skip periods? Or just that some people skip periods because of weight or something? I'm confused.

Women skip periods due to all kinds of reasons. It's called amenorrhea. Drug addiction, over exercising, excessive weight gain, various birth control methods, extended lactation, and all sorts of other health issues can cause it and it'll usually return once the cause of it is gone/remedied. And usually it'll return to normal, unless there's some actual permanent damage done by disease or something. As far as I know it's not a new thing… unless I missed some fad you're directly referencing?

This.

Doing so without any birth control pills and staying healthy, I've found to be quite challenging. Best I've gotten with my lifestyle is light flow once per 2-3 months.

I think I got the process down. Everytime I search for skipping periods, it's shilling for birth control pills or other shit to buy, but I think I got a better process down.

tl;dr whether or not menstruation occurs is dependent on the hormone leptin which is the signal for satiety or hunger; it's not so much the amount of fat present unless you're in Holocaust mode. There's other factors in how it's released but mainly through diet, sleep, and exercise.

Diet:

Leptin rises after eating.

>no sugar

>no pastries

>low fruit (put fruit juice in the same classificiation as very sugary drinks)

>high vegetable

>high meat

>water (any)

I check the internet, and this is pretty close to what's called a leptin diet. Which is often recommended to fat people with leptin insensitivity (i.e they can't stop eating or detect whether they are full or not).

Sleep:

Leptin rises during sleeping. It's like when you sleep and get your period overnight because sleep also suppresses hunger temporarily.

>don't sleep in

>keep day napping to a minimal

Exercise:

Leptin drops after exercise.

You don't have to be a powerlifter or a marathon runner, it just has to be "strenuous". E.g like 2 sets of 10-15 pushups, which doesn't sound all that much but when you have shit for upper body strength it sort of is.

Lifestyle restrictions:

>No eating before and after sleeping

>smaller dinner

>mild workout before and after bed

Risks:

Osteopenia. A big warning sign is pain in the thighs.. Since estrogen spikes during menses and girls who often suffer from amenorrhea also suffer from some eating disorder and nutrient deficiency. However, I dodge it with soy products and almond milk (this has about three times more calcium for the same calories compared to dairy milk).

Fatigue, this is a sign of going too far with exercising and too little with eating. You still get your period too because you might sleep more.

I notice if I just sit on my ass with no exercise after 2-3 days I get my period. But I can pretty much choose to have one. Overall, my dental health has been better. It takes a bit of trial and error to get right.

You know what would 100% stop all periods from happening ever again? Killing yourself. But you're well on that road with your cholesterol diet, it seems.

Honestly, why not just take the birth control? You might as well, since you're flushing your health down the toilet anyway.

Actually I happen to be on a very similar diet and getting blood tested reveals your cholesterol levels to be even better than a person that doesn't follow any food regiment.

To OP: make sure not to abuse "bad" fats like processed meats, canned goods and pre-fried food. If you fry something, use olive oil whenever possible, doesn't need to be virgin.

so is does having less or more leptin cause periods? also how long did it last for you?

It's less leptin. For suvival purposes, the body naturally does not menstruate or endometrium doesn't thicken when it's not safe to make a baby i.e there's not much food/energy available or if there's danger which translates to physical exertion. (For the fatties with no periods case, even though they have shitloads of leptin, they've developed an insensitivity.)

This means working out more and eating less. But it isn't just about calories, but also the timing. Eat then sleep is very different from eat, wait 3 hours, small workout then sleep.

Best I've gotten was once per three months.

Meat is very expensive to buy. You are buying meat.

Why would you want to avoid having your period? I doubt you're having sex with anyone anyway. An Ibuprofen once a month and a menstrual cup takes care of the whole thing.

PRO TIP: IUD.

Mirena changed my life big time.

I used pads for some years, then tampons, even tried the diva cup. Also have been on the pill.

When I was 18 I decided to get a Mirena (Hormonal IUD) and it literally changed everything. I haven't had a single period in over 2 years now, that doesn't even cross my mind anymore. I don't buy any pads, tampons, don't worry about what I wear, don't get stomach pains. Literally no period.

And it is very secure birth control so you don't worry about the lack of periods, >99,9% and safer than others. Use a condom if you are not with a long term partner to avoid STDs though. It can be taken out at any time if you want a baby…lol

You need to get it inserted by the OBGYN originally. For the Mirena, you can have it for 5 years without going anywhere again. (After 5 years I need to get it removed at the OBGYN again, and will likely get a new one inserted)

But, I check myself that it is in place every month or two just in case. Complications are very rare from what I have understood. It barely hurt to get inserted, you are maybe sore for a few days, I took some painkillers beforehand. Price is easily way better longterm than pads or tampons.

The complete loss of period I experienced should be somewhat common (1/3 of cases?), but at the very least everyone gets a decrease in length and heaviness of periods. (Copper IUD makes periods heavier as I understand it, the hormonal IUD such as Mirena or Skyla is much better and less risky)

Pros:

-Way less or absent periods

-No pregnancy

-No thinking about it/remembering anything

-Cheaper

Cons:

???

Basically, when I got it, it felt like there had to be a downside. How could everyone not have it? How could I not have known about something this great for so long? Why doesn't anyone else know about it? I have only experienced magical bliss, periods only cross my mind when other people mention them now.

And yeah, when your body goes in starvation mode you might experience increased coldness, falling out hair, no period, etc. (your body's way of saving energy, since you don't consume so much -how could you become pregnant and carry a child if you barely eat enough for yourself?

 No.20110

I would use real caution using any form of starvation diet.

Brain actually shrinks due to lack of nutrition with a commensurate lowering of IQ.

The skeletal system can be damaged, osteopenia (loss of bone calcium) or have osteoporosis (more advanced loss of bone density). This bone loss is usually permanent.

Perhaps the most endangered organ in the body is the heart. Muscle damage occurs which is why heart disease kills so many people with eating disorders.

It's pretty similar to my old diet and lifestyle. Just that I completely cut out sweets, juice, minimized fruit, and timed my work outs differently. So it didn't seem like much effort at all, but with the added perk that my dental health is much better.

The only big deal is that estrogen is needed to maintain bone mass, and the commonly reported combination of eating disorder and amenorrhea makes skipping periods this way a risk. But if I can get estrogen from somewhere else like soy and get enough calcium, protein and calories, I figure I can keep myself healthy.

This is just with regards to eating things, which isn't much effort compared to most other activities.

If you have an actual problem that disrupts your day to day life, talk to a doctor and solve it. It may be an unrelated health issue that would cause you other problems down the line. Don't use it as an excuse to feed your anorexia.

I don't have anorexia. My diet has been largely the same for 15 years. Just that I entirely cut out processsed sugars and fruit juice for water, time meals differently, and am more physically active than before.

I figured the male flag was your indication of something, but I guess not.

My gender is not listed on the thing. Just kidding, I'm too lazy to flip the flag to female. My ID is zeroes for TOR, so I might as well be tripfagging, really.

There's nothing wrong with cutting out processed sugars. But it's a weird thought to stop your periods instead of stopping the pain that goes with them. The first means your health's worsened, the second means your health's improved.

Countries with lower intake of saturated fat have less pain associated with periods. Fruit's not what you should be cutting out, not just because it's got no saturated fat, but also because it's good for you. Try cutting out animal products and processed oils, they've got the most saturated fat of anything you could eat.

Fruit juice != Fruit. The latter is healthy and comes with fiber, etc, but the former tends to add a lot of extra sugars (some brands have as much as soda). It's why I put "fruit juice" in the same category as sugary drinks. >>20084

I generally don't like having periods and I haven't dealt with it since it first started. Since nothing's going in there, there's no point in having a monthly free pregnancy check. If I had prepubescent quality of life while having an adult body, that'd be nice, but that's not human biology.

If you want my take on the whole thing with periods, it's that tens of thousands years ago when humanity was still banging on rocks, living on caves, and running from sabertooths, the women back then can't exactly afford to cramp and gush blood to the same extent as modern times when survival is at stake. But the modern lifestyle, even considering the beginning of civilization, affords more of that on a regular basis. Especially since there's some mentions that nowadays women bleed younger and heavier than in the past centuries.
