Arafat's Palestinian movement was promoted by the Communist-controlled media because Arafat was a Soviet client and it was in the strategic interests of America's enemies.
Leftist antisemitism goes back to Karl Marx who called for a "World without Jews." That did not stop Jews from joining and leading the Communist parties. After these Jews brought the Communist Party to power, the Communist Party had them purged and killed. The Soviet party line was explicitly antisemitic in the 1950s. Quoting from the PDF:
