Vivian is public domain, so it's not surprising someone would grab the character and toss it in to fill out an ensemble cast in a slice of life anime. There was a preview episode aired around September 5th, 2014 with Gator-Viv included in the preview. One hell of a coincidence since the creator of the show would have to go through character designs getting the go ahead before the show could be animated.
Wake up,Girls! the original show has Kaya Kikuma who is similar in appearance to Vivian but has lighter colored hair. In WUGzoo it would be easier to show hair, when it's a darker red against a green background. According to myanimelist http://myanimelist.net/anime/19023/Wake_Up_Girls! the original first aired in January 2014. So the character design with alligator symbol has been around before the gamejam incident with LW.
So if anything this proves that the japs used their mememagic to force 4chan to spread the character around. Due to faulty jap-amerifat magic conversion they couldn't spread the name of the show out till someone stumbled upon the character design.
