While I have never myself been in combat, there were definitely points during my military training that I experienced something like that. The life of a soldier can be a very spiritual thing.

Yes, that is true, but it is an outcome born of the success of the peace which you refer to at the goals which that peace is good at fulfilling.
The world is not inherently fair in the ways we usually mean. That is not to say that it is incorrect to strive for a world in which people live well, without disturbance by the unbalanced who would do them harm. However, it does mean that although the world is balanced in an elementary way, its manifestations can be chaotic.
The point here is just this, that it is better to do the work to overcome an obstacle than to become a blowhard about its evils. You have the capacity to outsmart the part of you which limits your context and produces suffering in you, but you also have the capacity to outsmart the part of you that would outsmart your suffering, and *that* is the place where parasitism comes in. It is parasitism itself, and not people afflicted by it, which I am an enemy of.

Quite true, but when I refer to the matter of victory or conquest, I don't mean in a violent or militaristic sense, I mean in the same sense that Buddha meant when he referred to himself as a conqueror of the sources of suffering. Determine first that a battle is truly, absolutely worth fighting, and if it is, then do not waver, win.
