Is rest a necessary requirement for gains/growth?

Or is it okay to not take 3 days off? I ask "3" because I usually hear people say 4 on 3 off. I like to do 5 of 7 in a week with the two off days just randomly interspersed when I can't get off my lazy ass.

Also. I'm a newfag to /fit/ in general;

How long should it take to see big gains in bench press?

I'm a weakfag and only did 6 sets of 95 yesterday. Could likely do a set of 110-115? if I started with just that and was done.

set = 12 reps

How quickly could I reasonably expect to hit 150 pounds from 95lbs?

It took me 4 months to get from 95-135 but I didn't know what I was doing the first few months and I didn't really focus on it much. Just use proper form and progress with 2.5 plates. If you don't have any try progressing in reps per set before adding weight. Also try doing 3-5 sets with 6-8 reps each set if all you're looking for is to increase your bench press.

It is good to at least give your muscles one day's worth of rest after intense workout as to prevent injury.

Well absolutely, you need rest, food and exercise in good amounts to get big

Listen bro, does your dick hang lower than your balls? If it does I don't think you have any right to question people who do whatever it takes.

Rest is really important.

I really love training, like I fuckin love going to the gym and seeing my buddies and pumping iron. I have to make myself take days off, though, because training every day will definitely set you back… you get sore, but more importantly, you get weak.

I have found that only training legs twice a week (one day for bar squats, another day for everything else - various machine presses, etc) actually gives me more gains than an every-other-day approach. Same with upper body. Really the only thing I do every gym session is abs, and that's to keep my back healthy more than anything.

Everybody is different, but for me personally, two days of legs and two days of upper body (big compound movements that hit multiple big muscles) and really giving it your all is much more effective than a half-ass daily workouts.

Rest days can include walks and biking - I usually do my cardio on "rest" days. Just no weights.

tl;dr: rest is just as important (if not more) than training.

Contrary to popular belief you do not gain muscle at all when you are working out. You only gain muscle during the recovery period. I advise that you stretch after your workout and take the Wim Hofs course if you want to accelerate your muscle gain.

When I did sports every day, I did not see a good result. And when I started visiting the gym 2-3 times a week and spending time actively on other days, regularly taking vitamins from https://www.canadapharmacy.com/ and eating right, I noticed very good changes. I didn't limit myself in food, I just tried to eat healthier. In short, I wish you luck
