Deadlifting
I don't understand why people use a mixed over/underhand grip, why not just train double-overhand (snatch) until your grip catches up with your posterior chain?
For that matter, why don't we all just get FatGripz and deadlift with them until our grips catch up enough to use them to pull the previous weights and simply do maintenance on posterior chain until forearms catch up?
Isn't getting a pump and lots of vascularity in forearms/wrists what will protect us against carpal tunnel narrowing? Inflammation can't die down without blood supply to carry antiinflammatories away.

It's just not worth missing out on all those back gains. Your posterior chain will naturally outpace the development of your forearms, and that's okay. If you let your grip strength hold back your deadlift progress, you'll be left with a weak deadlift.
Weak back with strong grip, or strong back with strong grip? The choice is clear. Keep working on grip strength, but don't let grip limit the progress of your deadlifts.

Your grip will likely not catch up. Mine never has. I do plenty of supplemental grip work too.
Don't anyone fall for meme-grippers. Do farmers walks. If you want an extra workout, pinch two plates in each hand, then do a farmer's walk.

Use straps please.
It's even better if you make them yourself. It doesn't have to be anything more complicated than a couple of straight strips of leather.

Why does everyone hate mixed grip?
I've been using it for about a year and never had problems

I don't hate mixed grip. I used it for years, too. I just wanted to stress my grip more. It was falling behind. So I switched. Never had much of a problem. And I deadlift sets of >500#.

I spent my whole life furiously death grip masturbating with both arms multiple times a day. I've never come close to needing mixed grip on dead lift.
