I heard protein powder is estrogenic. Apparently it contains BPA and often soy (and a lot of other shit). Is this true or is it an exaggeration? And if it is true, does it contain significantly more BPA and/of soy than normal food (cookies, cereal, processed food,…)?

I read in the sticky that you have to eat 1 gram of protein per pound in body weight (or 2 grams per kg in body weight). So if you weigh 70 kg, you should have to eat 140g of protein per day.

Isn't that almost impossible if you eat normal portions

I'm currently trying to cut (a little) and I'm afraid that if I eat that much in protein, I'm also inevitably gonna consume a lot of carbs, fats,..

I heard that if you consume too little protein, you are burning muscle while working out (i.e. completely wasting your time)

Also it that "Gold Standard 100% whey protein" any good? I'm talking about this one: https://browse.startpage.com/do/show_picture.pl?l=english&rais=1&oiu=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gnc.com%2Fon%2Fdemandware.static%2F-%2FSites-master-catalog-gnc%2Fdefault%2Fdwda4f9cec%2Fhi-res%2F350260_1.jpg&sp=0047774fa70d28897fe0f5e0bc009f9a&rl=to&t=default

700g of beef = 200g of protein, or so I heard

the weird thing about protein is that you just need enough, any more is kind of pointless, where as fat and carbs scale linearly

Buy made in Germany whey. If you buy American whey the raw powder comes from China and they don't give a fuck.

theres a TON of people pushing protein powder as

a muscle builder AND a weight loss tool…food for thought

also lots of them have a lot of added sugar plus they are flavored like

for kids (is. cookies and cream)

I think you know the answer to this OP

oh yea, its not really a natural food and is highly processed…

???

>there's a TON of people pushing protein powder as a muscle builder AND a weight loss tool…food for thought

Don't all protein rich foods work like that? For instance tuna-fish is rich in protein and low carbs making it great for muscle gain and weight loss (or rather fat loss)

>also lots of them have a lot of added sugar plus they are flavored like for kids (is. cookies and cream)

Aren't there any brands without the sugar and additives?

Also I heard that in the USA protein powders are not classified as food, so they don't have to be approved by the FDA. So they can add all sorts of crap to it.

Are there any countries where they do have to be approved and so they have to be more healthy? Are protein powders different in the EU?

I don't buy soy protein. That's simple enough.

Good range is somewhere between .8 and 1.5 grams per pound. Depends on your needs and your body.

>I'm currently trying to cut (a little) and I'm afraid that if I eat that much in protein, I'm also inevitably gonna consume a lot of carbs, fats,..

Man, this screams hand-holding. I take protein powder to increase my thermic burning of fat. It's improved things to a recognizable degree. Sometimes I have it with water, sometimes milk. I've even used heavy whipping cream. I buy only low or no carb powders. Make it fit your needs, brah.

>I heard that if you consume too little protein, you are burning muscle while working out

To some degree. But you're wringing your hands over something that probably doesn't matter to you in the slightest.

Additionally your body can adapt. Increase its efficiency in protein usage.

Is yogurt a good protein source? I eat a lot of low fat yogurt at the moment.

I heard low fat yogurt is heavily processed. Should I just eat regular yogurt? I'm trying to get a little leaner.

I wouldn't sweat it. If protein is the macro you're focusing on, go for it.

Plain greek yogurt is the only yogurt you should eat. High protein, low sugar. It should have two ingredients, milk and active cultures.

the only proven way to boost testosterone and lower toxins is to eat single ingredient foods and not processed

you have to eat veggies with every meal and have a balance of complex carbs, good fats with omega3, and all good organic protein foods plus milk daily

Some of the low fat yogurts apparently have more sugar in them than protein. Mine has 6,4g of sugar and 5,3g of protein. It doesn't taste sweet, so is it a special (meaning less harmful) kind of sugar? Why the fuck do they add sugar to it?

How are frozen vegetables? Does that count as processed? They come in a plastic bag, so I guess it does.

I'm a student and don't have that much time to cook or go to the store.

Before working out, I just ate whatever my mom made.

Also, how is canned tuna? Does that count as processed?

>Why the fuck do they add sugar to it?

To make it more addictive or some shit, they add sugar to everything.

>How are frozen vegetables?

If they were just cut and frozen then i'd say no, if they added salt or something then yes, that's usually the dividing line.

>how is canned tuna?

definitely

>Apparently it contains BPA and often soy (and a lot of other shit).

Most of them do. Read the ingredients: if it contains more than "whey" or whatever kind of protein you're looking at, put it back on the shelf. Or you could cut out processed bullshit like protein powder out of your life entirely and just eat beef, eggs, peanut butter, whatever.

>I read in the sticky that you have to eat 1 gram of protein per pound in body weight (or 2 grams per kg in body weight).

Probably an exaggeration. More like 1g per pound of lean body mass. The quick and dirty way of figuring this out is to look at charts of bodyfat% and compare your current body to whatever's closest to those charts. Why is it important to avoid "too much" protein, though? Because anything your body doesn't use to build or repair muscle is converted into an inferior "pseudo-carb" (a waste of caloric energy) and you'd be serving your body better to fill up the rest of your macros with carbs and fats for better overall energy and bodily efficiency.

So frozen vegetables are all-right so long as nothing else is added?

And canned tuna is bad?

The tuna is canned with water and it says it's "natural".

Your being a bitch who is looking for the easy way out, just cook a bunch of brocolli and veggies and spinach on sunday before school, buy like 3 whole chickens from a mennonite farm cook those and portion and then barley, wheat, lentils, and quinoa and mix it all together. Those are your suppers and lunches, you can add whatever you want for snacks I trust you to an extent. As for protein powder Ive used Gold Standard exclusively for about 4 years now, whatever its done has been good little detrimental that Ive noticed. Costco sometimes stocks it and its like 1/2 the price compared to workout places. The flavour isnt the best and takes getting used to but it works, I usually put minimal water and sludge it down but thats not good for you. Watch some Alan Thrall guides on eating or read the sticky and if you make excuses about being a student youll never make it, plenty students get fit. If you cant then dont dedicate do it recreationally and when you graduate go for it otherwise youll get sick of your no real progress.
