It's really frustrating listening to them spout their bullshit, knowing that most fans are too lazy to look up info themselves and are too stupid to have any technical knowledge in the first place.

It's entirely possible that the Honda engine does have as much, possibly a few HP more than the Renault engine (though I doubt it). The ICE is only one part of the new power units. It's well known that the Honda's main weakness is the shit energy recovery and deployment.

>If i dig through the FIA documents I can probably find said margin

So Ham's tire pressure is 0.3psi below the lower limit of 19.5psi, which equates to 1.5%.

It looks like most gauges measure to that accuracy and I assume the FIA uses one of the most accurate classes so Merc is fucked in that respect.

I'd say second, but maybe behind Vettel. Ferrari's strategy for the race could have been to have both cars drafting and DRSing each other to catch Mercedes. If they had made this work, they could have probably caught Hamilton. They just needed a good start to keep Rosberg behind so Mercedes couldn't do the same.

>what do the rules say

It's a technical directive, not a regulation. So there isn't a rule in a strict sense. This is also why they didn't have a procedure in place that takes temperature into account when measuring the pressure.

>Having heard from the technical delegate, the team representatives and the Pirelli Team Tyre engineer, the stewards have determined that the pressure in the tyres concerned were at the minimum start pressure recommended by Pirelli when they were fitted to the car.

>Further, the stewards are satisfied that the team followed the currently specified procedure, supervised by the Tyre Manufacturer, for the safe operation of the tyres. Therefore the stewards decide to take no further action.

>>20877

>hurr durr conspiracy

Your article is from before the race started so I don't see its relevance. What exactly did Mercedes do? Pirelli supervised inflation of the tyre and verified it was above the minimum. Tyres will cool when they sit on the grid with the warmers off and pressures will go down. The laws of physics do not care about poorly thought out FIA technical directives.

CONTEST RESULT

>warning: autism ahead

So it seems the FIA being a bunch of cunts who want to deny fans access to the sport haven't released the speed trap data from the race.

So the best I can use for my autistic contest is to use the Qualifying data

No I don't. And I'm not going to make one because all the Hamilton tooned images are in McLaren gear, so they don't really work in 2015.

So since the winner was too annoying to correctly enter, and because the result data isn't completely accurate, I'm just going to post both prizes so everybody wins.

To be fair, there is no longer a French team in f1, and when there were French f1 teams, they, or their drivers threw it away. Renault nearly gave prost the championship on 2 occasions but wouldn't give him a control to limit boost, so when the car blew up in Austria 82, that was the end. Ligier won the first 3 races of 1979 and then wasn't a professional enough team to find out what went wrong and return Jacques laffite to the front.

Peugeot made shit f1 engines and kept blaming the teams they supplied for the poor performance (sound familiar?)

French drivers, just like Italian drivers are not usually picked by teams that aren't of their nationality because they are not known for consistency. Also f1 is basically all British.

I guess the idea is to have all the engines at the same price instead of the better engine getting a premium. There will only be one engine sold, ostensibly at one price. There is no incentive for the manufacturer to decrease this price, or improve the engine, as there is no competition. The fia cannot into economics.

Moreover, because 5+manufacturers bidded for the contract and had to develop engines for said proposal, the price for the manufacturer chosen will be higher as they were in competition only once (when the fia asked for proposals) thus the engine is neither the cheapest, nor the most reliable, nor the easiest to maintain, nor the most powerful.

Ouch. Those of us that are hard line on this issue do it for love of the sport, not to be contrarian. Jackie Stewart was a huge proponent of safety but never fucked with the DNA of the sport.

Derek Warwick lost his brother and went on his own safety crusade, but went to great pains in order not to mess up the sport or riddle tracks with chicanes.

I am sorry about the pain you are going through with Jenson being the only likable British driver on the grid and in very likely to go out with a whimper, not a bang, but I don't see why this makes him exempt.

Jackie Stewart smacks down closed cockpits.

>Triple world champion Jackie Stewart has urged Formula One to tread carefully before making any decision about introducing closed cockpits in the wake of recent race tragedies.

>The 76-year-old Scot, a famed safety campaigner who this month marked the 50th anniversary of his first grand prix win at Italy's Monza circuit, told Reuters a lot more research and development needed to be done.

>"One has got to be just a little careful that you don't run too fast before all of the research has been done because there's other types of accidents where it could be a disadvantage," he said.

>Stewart, who entered Formula One when the sport was at its deadliest and won his titles in 1969, 1971 and 1973, lost numerous friends in accidents during his career and campaigned for safety improvements including seat belts and full-face helmets.

>However, he remained unconvinced by the idea of fully enclosing the driver.

I watched a sauber yt video where they claimed it wasn't. Also if engine testing is restricted in the chassis, how would you do a proper straight line test? The same goes if it has to be done on demonstration tires which perform differently.

Either way, the point is defeated if it has to have fia scrutineers at an approved track, because that's where the costs come from anyway. Transportation, rental costs, organization.

There's a reason teams liked to have tracks on premises or nearly so (fiorano, hethel, vallelunga)

I can't find it in the sporting regs as it gets mixed up with Appendix 8 which goes into how many flops you can use for CFD simulation and other shit.

>Testing is limited to 15,000 km, with the current car, in a year.

I don't understand this. Does it have to happen at an FIA sanctioned event? because you never hear of a team doing any testing separate from the mid season and early season unified tests. Also Lotus and other teams immediately used their filming days for testing, but those require demonstration tires which are defeating half the point of testing.

>>21073

Airfield or no, you have to apply in advance for a certified site and to get a stuffed shirt with badge to watch the whole thing.

This whole set of regulations smacks of nuisance regulation. For instance, California has tried time and time again to ban handguns. For reasons other than the fact that this would be an egregious violation of the second amendment, they have been stopped from doing so. Because California cannot ban handguns, they try really hard to make it a pain in the ass to sell them in state. They mandate "drop testing" and all sorts of other tests that manufacturers do internally anyway (but must be repeated just for this one state) in order to increase time to market, cost to sell in state, and generally be a pain in the ass.

Manor will just run the outdated Ferrari engines again. Remember Merc are allowed to supply more than 3 teams, currently (Williams, Force India, Lotus and themselves) . Nobody in the FIA will vote against Ferrari and Manor, probably.

Then again they will be supplying to like six teams, with Honda not looking beyond as McLaren an engine partner. Manor will likely have to eat the shit from RB's arse.

Speaking of ricciardo patrese. The Anglocentrism of f1 (which, while worse now than it was, is not a new thing) was always pretty fucking rude to him. Increasingly looking that way. Matthew Carter claims lotus can finish this season without any extra cash and that they can survive, Renault deal or no.

Renault are looking increasingly likely to have no customer teams at the current rate. With RB and STR looking all set for Ferrari engines. Granted it would look a little funny with half the grid powered by Ferrari so that is an unlikely shout.

There have been rumors of Merc powering the Manor team as well, so that is more likely at the current rate. Of course, Merc would have to make it affordable for the Manor team and likely would have to use this years engine next year if that were to go through. It would be funny if with the Merc power they could beat the McHonda team with their "2016" engine.

The way I understand things Renault are keen to keep involved in F1 in some capacity. Therefore, it would seem likely they would have to buy Lotus in order to do so, as they are losing engine customers at an alarming rate. The Lotus deal is looking as if it is edging towards completion, from what I have read.

Fuck I hate people quoting the Senna line

>"If you no longer go a gap that exists, then you are no longer a racing driver."

They think it's all about Senna being a "pure racer", but what they're too dumb to realize, is that it was Senna's pathetic excuse for his blatant and premeditated crashed in to Prost to win the championship.

Schumacher was rarely given challenge at Benetton (only nelson piquet really can compare on results to Schumacher, despite good challenge given by patrese and Herbert). The second car was never prepared as well, maintained as well, or equipped as well. Verstappen's car didnt even have schumachers illegal launch control. Alolso was given massive preference over fisichella because fisi didnt agree to he managed by flavio, idk about trulli, piquet Jr was treated sufficiently like shit that he was expected to crash in Singapore), heikki was thrown out after a decent season.

Using the 2010 points system, the best recent turnaround is Vettel in 2012 where he won the 'hip from 39 pts behind Alonso heading into Singapore. The difference between this season and 2012 is that if Ham has problems Nico is guaranteed wins. If Mercedes as a team have issues then they will both get fewer points, so Nico being behind Louis won't be as much of a problem.

In 2014 Nico's car had two failures in the coming GPs that led to a non-score so it's not entirely impossible that he can turn it around if the law of averages rears its head. It just requires a 2007-esque Hammy choke which looks unlikely at his current altitude.

Well as far as I'm aware (and I'm really not) operation yewtree is uncovering the child abuse of the 70's and 80's which was among the upper echelons of society.

Government officials, MPs, celebrities, allegedly a royal etc were in what was essentially a pedophile ring. I guess when you are that powerful you feel you can get away with anything and can cover it up which they managed for a long time.

The recent child abuse scandals in places like Rochdale and Rotherham are different in that the people running the abuse rings were south asian, pakistani brits, somali etc

I don't think I really need to explain that one much further.

Of course I don't really try and keep up with these stories so I might be completely misinformed.

It's a knockout with Stuart Hall which was our version of a french game show.

A lot of countries in Europe had a version and there was big huge version where the winners of the national ones would represent the country in a europe wide version.

In that respect it was more like a wacky insane sport because it was cities going against each other. There was even a special broadcast for the FA cup final where the two cities in the cup final would go against each other (imagine the two cities of the superbowl teams competing against each other in crazy games)

I think they tried it in america but it couldn't work because all your cities are so spread out.

There were versions not presented by Stuart Hall but he presented it for so long that there is no point in trying to cut him out or broadcast the other ones.

Jimmy Savile on the other hand did Top of the pops which is such a British institution that they have tried to edit him out.

FUCKING SENNAFAGS

>Ted Kravtiz defends Senna crashing in Prost to win the championship because "Senna was cool, so it's fine, you can forgive him for anything, because he was amazing".

>Hamilton thinks Senna crashing in Prost to win the championship was "pretty neat" and that "anyone in his position would do the same"

Senna literally risked both of their lives because he was too much of an egomanic to be beaten fair and square, but that's okay because he's Senna.

I wonder what they think about Michael crashing in to people to win championships?

Yewtree was set up after Historical child abuse cases came about. It is only to investigate old cases since people came forward.

Rotherham was a paki rape gang that operated for years. The police never fully opened up about the shit that was going on. It also turns out that the Pakis were only targeting white girls. It went on from 1997-2013.

Rochdale is the same but less widespread over fewer year. Pakis raping white girls. This went on from 2008-2009. Apparently the police never investigated for fear of being labeled racist.

But this is not F1…

Even if it is short term for a few years they can pay.

We may feel that the calendar would be better being shorter and focusing on european rounds with a few flyaway races in the Americas, Australia, Japan …etc but more rounds is more exposure for advertisers and Bernie can charge more for TV rights (which is the main part of the prize pot for the teams).

So much needs to change in the money situation (and that is only the stuff we know about - The way Bernie operates makes me feel there is a lot more we don't know) that I can never see the situation changing.

Given the attitude they would be better off getting rid of the season, having Le Mans set up for the entirety of June and running a month long, never ending practise session.

At some point have a whole day for quali and then over the final weekend run the race.

Build some ridiculous hype and have cars testing for entire fucking month.

A few fans who try to stay up and watch the whole thing end up dying of sleep deprivation on day 11

Loosen up the regs as well so over the month we see some crazy concepts being tested.

No entry limit of course just lock in the top 56 cars after practise for the quali and race.
