I like a modern (or near-future) setting with sexual undertones. Not casual sex, because the taboo is what makes dubcon hot, but sexual things like employees getting made to wear unduly skimpy outfits, train passengers getting groped with nobody doing a thing about it, idols getting exploited, green card marriages needing consummation to be valid, no-one batting an eye at teenage daughters getting spanked.
The kinds of sexual scenes that fit irl, or nearly do, but in this alternate reality they're more commonplace, and people get away with them.
Scenes can vary from gritty lower class districts where any trip out alone after dark risks harassment or even rape, to deeply religious communities and their bizarre interpretations of scripture, to penthouse suites where the sexually repressed children of executives have nobody to experiment with but their servants and each other.

A space prison ship.
Essentially corporations are still bound to moral codes in most inhabited planetary systems, but due to the massive upshot in piracy and crime some corps create vast prison vessels, armed with both security systems and cutting-edge research facilities to use and abuse these prisoners in order to benefit society's understanding of biology, medicine, and weapons development. These vessels are then cast into the vastness of space to uninhabited systems to experiment in various kinds of cybernetics, breeding, poisons, medicines and mind-altering drugs until either the prisoner is used up, dead, or serves out their sentence. Prisoners, of course, are allowed to have more of their time commuted if they volunteer for more extreme forms of testing and "service" to help keep their fellow prisoners satisfied.
Some say these punishments are too extreme, that the way these prisoners are treated is inhumane, but a thorough astroturfing campaign has ensured that these malcontents and miscreants are seen as having "had their chance", and this is a great way to ensure that they are of benefit to society one way or another. Some are rehabilitated through sheer fear of being made to return to one of these deep-space prisons. Others, perhaps, might have their brains transplanted into attractive cybernetic prosthesis and conditioned into becoming desperate and willing sexual appliances to be resold on the market, and some are simply experimented upon until they go insane or their flesh is a mass of tumors and genetic viscera.
It would work out well: In addition to gaining excellent survey data for the systems they visit, prisoners would have only the cold, airless void to escape to, should they decide to try and flee. Many of these prison transports are almost entirely automated, with a scant security team and a handful of scientists. Even if the human security elements fail, the primary mainframe can simply vent all oxygen aboard the ship… or, if sufficiently advanced, can even carry out experiments all on its own.

Keep an eye on the profile thread because I plan on making a female captain character with Amelia, the captain from Treasure Planet as the face claim. I honestly don't think I've ever seen her used.
As for a setting, I like the idea of a post-future fantasy. It's set some hundred years after a cataclysm event but society has reformed, nations have risen up and civilization is a thing, more or less. But things like mutants, psionic powers that are a stand-in for magic and those kinds of things.

On the one hand I love that BB look but on the other hand I'm pretty sure that any organized attempts to RP in something like that will kind of just end up attracting a lot of edgelords, maybe even more so than normal. I like edginess but some people are just too much.
I have just one character I've worked on for a BB aesthetic setting and she is a human who has been fucked with alchemically to have a werewolf-like reaction that turns her into a monster whenever someone turns a dial on a magic pocketwatch. The process is painful and traumatic for her.

One of the big things with gothic horror in general is that it followed Romantic art's lead in trying to keep things beautiful or if not beautiful then pleasing in some way. Gothic literature just did this with stuff like blood and death rather than the normal Romantic subject matter like flowers.
Bloodborne's aesthetic has a lot in common with gothic themes like large beautiful castles or courtyards full of barren trees, but I don't think it makes a major aim to keep with the beauty. The protagonist of the game ends up sopping wet with blood after messy fights.
I guess some people could argue that the fights and such are presented in enough of a Romantic way, but I don't feel that. I also feel that the amount of combat in the game makes it feel less gothic, since a lot of gothic lit is more interested in investigation/study/indoorsy work.
I do like gothic stuff a lot too, mind you, I just like the art direction and action of BB while a lot of gothic stuff feels much slower in comparison because of lack of frequent combat.

You don't really need art for this or any other ERP, like any setting it should be totally possible to convey through text. But it really helps to have both (or all I guess if you have more people) on the same page about what they want to write and the setting that they want to build so that the load can be shared cooperatively. Assuming you ERP for story then your whole plot arc can also involve related themes.

I like to make my settings adjustable. For example:
Postapocalyptic high fantasy setting, where magic has turned on humanity and all of the old biomes have been fucked in various ways. A saltwater sea turned to a massive salt flats, a huge desert turned into a massive murky swamp, a forest run so wild it is nothing but dense bramble.
Using magic is still possible, but over time it mutates the user: The first cast inflicting an initial mutation and more occuring as a caster accrues taint from magic use. Nothing in the setting can ever permanently remove mutations, even amputation results in them simply appearing elsewhere. Long-time casters look only vaguely humanoid, and magic used determines your mutations. So someone using a lot of fire magic results in glowing red eyes, smoky breath, etc. Earthen magic results in hardened flesh, gemstone eyes…
The severity of mutation can be adjusted, from "Oh god what the fuck" to silly erotic stuff including mental mutations as well - a feiry temper from, well, fire use, for example, or perhaps and explosive libido.
In one version of the setting, humanity retreated underground to avoid the initial cataclysm that fucked the planet up, and waited too long - magic's rebellion also uplifted various fauna into intelligence and humanoid form, resulting in anthropomorphic animal life that dominates the setting and guides humans emerging from vaults back into civilization. These can be entirely removed, toned down to be less populous, etc.
The severity of the setting can be toned to player preference, from practically civilized and just more sexually open, to brutal and terribly grimdark - bandits rule the lands between towns and seiges are common. I like to have knobs and dials on my settings, which is why I don't like to use fanfiction ones or ones from my partners all that much.
