I agree that I am not doing the prime name justice in any way, but that hasn't been the intention in a long time. When I started the profile I tried to make it the most faithful representation I could remember from the old comics I had, but there was simply no interest in the character. Perhaps it was partly due to my own inexperience in f-list. In any case, one day I just decided to scrap it and start from zero with a (somewhat) new idea.
I used to have Pratt's art on the profile, but when I remade it it didn't feel as right to keep it considering how much I had changed the character, although I guess I should have gone and changed the name while I was it. It just rolls off the tongue so well.
El Sueño de una Mañana de Invierno is the best one-shot, by the by. Rasputin is good but I only started liking him after Volveremos a hablar de aquellos Aventureros.

Do you feel like any of these are particularly special? They're in the running with a fantasy-entomologist character I've been chipping away at for worldbuilding/megafauna/exploration and research garbage and the idea's super attractive to me, so a character concept might have to be super especially good in others eyes to displace it at this point. Hey /erp/. I want to gauge your interest on an idea for an F-List channel.
About a year ago, someone brought up that we should make a school themed channel, since a lot of us were making profiles for students, teachers, etc.
Some anons were up for it, but nothing happened. I assume because it was suggested as a joke.

I'm thinking about starting one. Ideally, it'd be an RP channel entirely, no ooc memery. There are plenty of channels for that already.
However, if you must, you could always talk about anime and game shit in character and chatter like that happens.

Do it anon! The worst that happens is the thread falters and you move onto new ideas. I'd also suggest you try out the F-List channel as well. A few tips before you do that however.
Find a core group of people you know are interested in the idea to be mods before you set anything up. People you (believe) can be trusted with the position. Have your rules established and written in the room description before you start inviting people. Do NOT be afraid to come off as a dick. If you want the room to stay RP focused, you have to put your foot down and squash any little cliques trying to establish a foothold that isn't what you envision the room to be. Make sure the rest of your mods are aware of this as well. Participate in the room. If you don't like the idea of roleplaying as a mod, use an alt. People must see active RP going on as often as possible to be encouraged and feel comfortable doing the same. A final note is quality of posts. If someone that can barely write is attempting to play, you can politely ask that they leave in a PM. Nothing kills a RP room faster than idiots who jump on everything that moves but can't write to save their lives. And of course, advertise the hell out of it!

Personally, I'd play something super genderfucky! Maybe something that doesn't know even what it is itself. Switch pronouns around on people like a madman, tease them about being as confused as the character itself, play out scenes capitalizing on the big question, and as per the slug base's biology, play something that's… Kind of both male and female, but not in a plain "both' way that standard herms are. Maybe it shifts, and can do so on a dime. I'd play it N/A, orange, or purple, but massively play up the pronoun play and orientation shenanigans, you'll have a lot of fun with that.

Honestly, I've neglected the character's profile for quite a while. I play a few other characters which are vastly more popular, but Nani is the one that I've always really wanted to find a long-term scene with - she's the oldest of my characters, and she's the one that I feel the most "myself" playing as. Unfortunately, I've never found much activity with her (I think her "no Twitterspeak"/"no Shitposting" kinks make for a hard sell), so rather than develop her profile I've just let it sit by the wayside as I work on my other girls. I guess I didn't really think it was worth the effort, as she's only ever attracted a few suitors that either weren't what I was looking for or just left after a while, and I find it easier to make an impression with a partner when speaking one-on-one with them.

Non-standard spaces. Imagine that [x] represents a single character. What I do is use spaces so thin that F-List doesn't display them. It still recognizes them, however, so what I do is the following:
[x][x][x]top part of a bracket
[x][x]middle part
[x][x]middle part

and then just add another [x] to the next bracket; it'll automatically sort them based on those non-standard spaces! You can use +Add Kink on those ones and just write your own kinks on them, they'll work just fine!

This is true, too. What a lot of people miss about multi-para is that you should only go for it if you actually can. If you can manage a multiple paragraph post describing a few short actions without being overwrought, go for it.
What far too many multi-paragraph posters do is assume that, because they're literate, they have to simply jam as many words as they possible can. So a scene that should be something along the lines of;
>My character enters their house in my post, saying hello to the host.
>Their character, the host, greets mine and shows mine to the dining room to allow for a reaction to the home and meal.
Often becomes;
>My character enters their house in my post, saying hello to the host.
>Their character greets mine and takes them on a whirlwind tour of the entire house. Making many assumptions about how mine would react to this, before guiding them to the dining room. Once more not giving my character a chance to react and assuming how they would - then proceeded to serve the meal and sit down to eat it.
The problem with this format is that you give your partner way too much to react to, and they can't react to most of it because the post left us off in the dining room, eating. I can't retroactively adjust how my character reacted to your house or interject anything interesting to the serving scene. This extends to sex, as well. I've had many literate multi-paragraph partners push so hard to get the volume of text out that they went through so much in a single post, that there was nothing to really do.
My favorite example is one partner who went from performing oral, to fingering, to fisting my character in one go without offering any chance for my character to react to any of this and insisted, at the end of their post, that my character was at the verge of climax.
Of course, the response to all of this is "Not All Multi-Para Posters" And that's right. Not all of them are shit like this. But a lot of them are, and it's frustrating. I hate that post-length has become the defacto way of gauging whether or not someone is good, because it just encourages people to pad out their posts as much as they can.

This is why I multipara as well. I want to have a scene in somewhere more interesting than just a dining room, so you shove an aquarium inside their instead and take some time to describe it, the way that it's backlit by lights so the entire room is coloured blue with shifting, swirling shadows.
Makes it more interesting/fantastical for me. Or, if you want to describe a gentleman's club and you take time to mention the scent of cloves, cigars, whiskey and burnt oak, the feel of the plush, pristine leather seats as they crinkle when you sit in them. The dim warm light of the room mixed with the haze of alcohol and drugs make your eyes dip as you wait for that lovely maid to come back with your aperitif.
Longer posts are really important as well if you want to convey to your partner how the room looks in your minds eye, so they don't get confused by what's happening.

I'm more someone who's into various kinks with little limits, and at times if the scenario and partner seem like a really good fit I'm okay with stretching my limits or trying new things as well. There is actually something that's been brought out with the elf in that she's a merchant queen rather than a landed one. And not a (((merchant))) but someone who enjoys the thrill of business itself. After all, what need does a nigh immortal elf have for money?
So, plot ideas. One idea is that she in the market for a new body guard and this takes her down to the gladiator pens or the local adventuring guild/tavern so that she can pick up a rough and tumble sort of fellow. That may be a bit cliche but she finds that those who are more "proper" military often lack innventive thinking for problem solving.
The second idea could be a rival buisness leader who keeps trying to undercut or rob her in some way and she either wins him over, and into her bed, or wins the heart of whatever master theif and or assassain he sent to do her in and do damage to her guild.

Probably half the blues on the site are shitty self inserts, so you're free to join em', but don't expect to run into any spectacular partners playing that type of character. Don't mark everything in your kinks, just highlight the specific ones you like or dislike in the case of No's. I prefer always putting my kinks in drop downs because I don't like how cluttered kink lists make the profile, but that's up to your preference. What is way more important though is custom kinks, it lets you highlight specific ones in greater detail and if you don't have any it makes you look like a shitter.
There pretty much is no great way to get started and you're probably gonna get ignored and/or rejected by a lot of people. Just find some channels that vaguely align with what you're looking for and check the people set to looking there, or character ads if the channel has them. That's probably your best bet as of now. For things more specific there's always the profile search function but it's a bit clunky, as is pretty much everything on f-list.
On the writing thing, how good your writing is considered is gonna change from person to person. It's all about just finding the right partner that meshes with your style. I wouldn't worry too much if your partners say they're enjoying it though. A 10-15 minute rule is common on what people will tolerate for post times, but at the same time plenty of people are happy to have longer post times.

I'd say most people actually play a self insert to some degree, the exceptions being canon characters that stick to canonical attitudes and shit. Just don't make your character a boring perfect character with big muscles, tons of cash, and give him some personality and you'll be fine. Right now I want you to imagine the three biggest kinks you have. Go through the kinks list and fave them (kinks are divided into sections in the edit screen so you don't need to worry about reading page after page of useless kinks). Make a custom for one or two of those big kinks of yours where you go into detail on it, mention what you like, or what you'd like to do with that kink, get raunchy and describe shit about that kink, etc. Repeat the same for your Yes kinks section, these should be kinks you enjoy but aren't as appealing as the faves. Now do the same with the maybes, this is reserved for kinks you're curious or willing to try. Now the hard nos it's even easier, think of the stuff you'll never wanna do and put them down.
I like to add in at least 10 or so kinks to all four categories and 3-5 customs for each category where I wanna highlight a certain kink. Oh and don't check everything. If you're not into vore for example, all you need to do is make a custom saying no vore, or check one vore custom into your nos, no need to put every single vore related kink in it as well, people tend to get the picture.

Uhm… waiting for them to message you? Other than approaching people all you can really do is wait for them to approach you instead. You can chat in rooms if you want but showing initiative I've found lands you a lot more play than waiting around for someone to do it for you.

Don't worry, this is typefucking, it's hardly significant and it's only one step away from jerking your dick to porn videos. You'll get better or find another, better hobby.

Ok, so basically there's a couple of things:
1. Don't muscle into groups if they don't respond to you from the first try. Test the ice and then leave well enough alone.
2. Read profiles before doing IC actions and stuff so you can get a bead what your chances are of them being interested in your character OOCly. If they are, they're more likely to reciprocate and play along.
3. Cliques absolutely exist, but some are relatively inclusive on occasion while others are completely walled off groups that ignore everyone else. Chances are that people you see talking in a channel already know each other but if you end up playing with one them interacting with you publicly can snowball into others giving you a chance too.
Number one advice beyond all others is to be clear about your intents and read the god damn profiles -before- doing shit. That solves a lot of issues that newcomers often fall into. If there is no information on a profile, like it's literally just an avatar without a description or kinks then tread carefully and watch them for a while instead of trying your luck. You'd think this would just be for PMs, but it also helps to stick to these principles in public channels even if they're not nearly as serious as private RP/chatter.

Only a couple of morons take channel RP super seriously all the time – like it's one thing if it evolves into something more serious and you start swapping proper posts with someone but with more idle and relaxed emoting changing the way your character is to make things more fluid is not only understandable but I'd encourage it.
Reason being if your character is a tight-ass or some superpowerful dude (not saying yours is a Sue or anything but just as an example) then it's going to be a killjoy to others being IC because now they gotta deal with your ass when they'd rather just chill. If they want the real experience then they can come and talk to you in private or you can allude to it with dialogue like "Maybe in another time and place I won't be so lax." You get what I mean, right?

I did decide to go with the sci-fi tag! I'm doing something a little strange with this character, but trying to hit a wide base, so that I can have a variety of interactions and stories, with a wide set of characters. I've already got something set up, that's practically a /clang/ event where they're going to fuck my robots. The people seem nice, and I think it's going to be a lot of fun.
