XIV is okay on both Mateus and Balmung, but it's a bit of a one trick pony. Quality people are a bit rare and it's mostly very shallow futa lovers.

BDO has quality over quantity from what I've seen.

I've been really tempted to get into MMO ERP, especially after reading these threads. Chances are I'll also end up on BDO, since I don't fancy grinding through a new character on FF14. Is there a guild or a Discord for ERP stuff on BDO, though? And if not, how do people generally find people to do stuff with?

I'm also sort of curious about how people make trap characters in these games. I figure it's probably easier to do in BDO, but do people generally make a male character as feminine as possible? Or do they use a female character and try to make her flat chested or something?

There aren't really servers like WoW has in GW2. Your server is pretty much just who you fight alongside in World vs World. Otherwise it's all megaservers and everyone in the same region can play together. US is a lot more active in RP than EU, though.

The one thing that annoys me to no end about DBO is that the outfits are expensive as fuck, and give so little gold in the AH nobody actually sells them. If you don't want to shell 20 for an outfit (more like 30), then you're fucked (but not literally, cause your outfit will suck, unlike you).

They aren't. None of the cash shop items are listed frequently, and you need ridiculous amounts of luck to get one, be it a pet or an outfit. At least in the EU it's like that.

But that's not the only thing: the game is too single player, there are very little incentives to actually talk to people outside of the odd boss, if you like to trade instead. The fact that you can't even trade with others means you're basically playing in your own bubble. The family thing kills anonymity, so I can't be someone else entirely when I make a new character, which I think is hugely important to be able to do in roleplaying games.

Fuck, BDO gets me so frustrated. It could be perfect, but for some reason some chump decided to screw things up royally.

I've been thinking about buying Black Desert Online, but before that I had a few questions like which is the main RP server, the main RP city and if people roleplay knowing anything about the lore.

I wasn't into RP at all back when I played, but I'm not aware of RP servers. Cities I'm not too sure of. There might be a couple RP guilds around. An RP channel does exist but you'll only see Alienware and "traps are gay" spam.

On the topic of pearls, BDO is p2w incarnate. Some people will try to argue it but you'll need at least a ~50 dollar investment if you want to not hate yourself in high level PvE. That's just the baseline unfortunately, it goes up real fast if you want to stay competitive. The only way to get pearls is with real money, which is another bummer.

Dye is free if you have the in-game premium subscription, Non-subscription dyes are either RNG'd through boxes or bought from the auction house. I had multiple lvl 60/61s. If you wanted to stay competitive, T1 pets didn't cut it. T3 at least, multiple maids, a maid costume for processing, a costume for combat. Then Artisan's memories for enhancement if you didn't want to hate yourself. Stacks up fast.

I also want to note that 400 gs is barely lategame. Full Asula, duo ult Heve and tri ult green weapons already brings you up to ~410gs, but if you're not Witch/Wiz/DK you'll still be slow even on pirates. You can't even do anything in Valencia that's not Bashims with that kind of gear. The elite mobs will simply ruin your day, and skipping elites is awful for grinding.

Matter of fact is, pushing above ~400gs requires ridiculous amounts of money in the form of boss gear and boss gear enhancement or accessory smashing. The moment you even start looking at Ogre rings or precious unbuyable Memory Fragments usage (farming via scrolls got heavily nerfed, too) you simply can't afford NOT to take every opportunity to make money, and that includes the cash shop.

The game is perfectly fine to play without spending a dime if you're just gonna stop at the first softcap and be content with T1 node wars and Sausans farming. Anything further than that and you'll actually take years and years to progress.

You can absolutely play the game as a jew simulator but the in-game trading profession is a bit… Boring? You basically set up workers to gather materials for you. You process the materials overnight, these materials are further processed into crates and finally you travel back and forth between cities to sell those crates for money. You can create a factory empire this way, but you won't ever be able to see them in person. It's all done with a seperate interface.

However, those crates won't make you profit until you sink hundreds of hours in the profession, and the optimal way of transporting those crates is by exploits that now have become a feature of the game. Far from optimal for immersion purposes. If you did it the "intended" way you'd take 30 minutes just to transport 20-50 crates, and a good empire makes thousands a day.

You could just buy stuff at one city, and sell it at the next, which is also part of the profession. Doesn't make a lot of money, but it's there.

Exploring is a big part of the game, and you also get rewarded for it. Just reaching your first job advancement (called awakening) will already give you some hundred hours of gameplay if you're new and explore, which I'd say is worth it for 10 bucks.

Fishing is very simple. You cast your rod in water, wait until a fish bites and press space. Then press the keys shown on screen and there you go, fishing. The true fun of fishing is going off to sea and finding good spots (which change every few hours) to earn lots of money. There's also AFK fishing, which is what most peopel do.

As far as I'm aware there is no source of free pearls in the game right now. Whaling is part of the hunting profession and can be good money if you're lucky.

The other professions are very hit or miss depending on person. Gathering/processing is just walking up to a thing and pressing a button. Alchemy/cooking involves gathering materials and spreadsheets to figure out the most profitable recipes. Farming is just Harvest Moon simulator. Few people bother with hunting and sailing is useless for the most part.

Once you progress to the third or forth city you can "rent" fences for contribution points which you earn through questing. A total of 10 fences can be rented, with the biggest fences costing 10 points and being able to host a total of 9 plants. You can plop down these fences on any piece of unoccupied land. Farming is heavily time gated though, you'll be able to harvest at most once ever 5-6 hours. Farming gets you materials for either cooking or alchemy.

Early hunting basically gets you nothing. Whaling nets some of the materials required for endgame earrings, but they're vary rare. High level whaling requires parties, but I didn't read any deeper into it back when I played.

It's permanent until removed, it's just called a rental cause you get your points back when you return the fences.

BDO is ridiculously grindy in all aspects, it's a Korean MMO after all. End-game you could do small-scale PvP or guild PvP, which requires decent gear. So yeah, grinding.

The game has tons of exploration and lore scattered around, so you could always go that route. There's no end-game raids, just open world bosses. Which, as you might expect, is grinding to the max and since so many people wail on it at once there's really no strategy involved.

You should look up a farming guide or two to see if it lives up to your expectations, same with player housing.

Most of the lore you'll pick up on the way. It fits with the story of the player characters, they have no memories and are stranded on an unknown continent. They've made a deal with the black spirit and slowly they puzzle everything together as they do its bidding. If you want you could look up some lore summaries on youtube, there are plenty. For roleplay, some basic facts about the different races are worth looking up. Once again though, finding roleplayers is the first huddle in BDO.

No clue about private channels except for party/guild. I don't think they exist, so you'd have to gamble on the RP channel or go to dedicated BDO RP forums if you want to find someone. Finding someone in-game is relatively hard.

As for pets. The best pets are the one with special properties: hedgehogs, polar bears, the ones with increased pickup radius etc. After that comes cats/dogs, and lastly anything that flies (I'm not sure about this, but people claimed that they had longer delays than other pets). Go for cats if you're gonna level gathering, if not, it doesn't really matter.

Put them all on aggresive looting stance for maximum money.

Forgot to mention the special pets aren't easily available to be bought except increased pickup radius ones, so yeah, just buy the ones that you like the most. Do try to only get ones of the same species so you can combine them later on if you ever get more than 5 pets. Combining two pets potentially spits out one pet of a higher tier, which picks up items faster.

Giants you see in cities, yes. There are some "wild" giants still around, and you'll encounter them later on.

There really isn't a city that's "equivalent" to any mediterranean country in this game. It goes from Europe (Calpheon, Heidel, Velia) to middle east (Mediah region), to desert (Valencia). There's also the new Kamasylva where the elves life. You could say Heidel is Italy, since it's right between the western cities and Mediah. Tarif in mediah would be another decent choice. The capital of Mediah looks and feels a bit too middle eastern to fit the bill, but you might want to check it out. Mediah takes a while to unlock though.

I can vouch for balmung being the better of the two. People there are by and large more friendly, and you'll actually have people interested in teaming up for group play. I've actually had pleasant sexual RP with the hermaphrodite crowd while playing on a male there, and recently too.

Keep in mind, the restriction lifting means the economy is shifting around a lot, both on marketboard and with the ERP community, but by and large, I can count the number of bad RP/ERP experiences there on one hand and still have fingers left over.

As someone who was on Balmung since about 2.3, its hit or miss. The main advantage it had was its staggering population making up for anything else, but now its active is almost half of what it used to, and Mateus is fairly close up to it.

I don't know what to pin the blame on for Wildstar's failure. Their dungeons went from medium to ball-bustingly hard when they first came out and you needed to attune. There were loads of bugs all over the place. The PvP was unbalanced as fuck. The races were uninspired and not really cute or sexy for the most part. Then there was just a lack of content - and the content they did come out with every month was largely shit that just turned into a daily rep grind for little reward.

It definitely had its charms but there's only so much you can do. Even the roleplay scene was 'Tavern, tavern, whore house, tavern, tavern, vampire: the masquerade (which seems to happen on every fucking MMO somehow), tavern, whorehouse/tavern hybrid'… you get the idea.

We need more games with focuses on crafting gear in general, it's kept me coming back to Rune Factory and the Craft Sword spinoffs of Summon Night again and again.

Not exactly an mmo unless you've got the limitless players mod with tons of people, but checking for interest in Stardew Multiplayer. Has great potential for designated work slaves, pet girls and bestiality.

FFXIV is fairly close to this. Crafted gear is always biS for crafters, raiders require potions and food for buffs, and at the start of a cycle crafted gear is BiS until you can get lockout gear. I used to be a huge crafter and had a bunch of dumb little gathering sluts who got items in bulk for me.

It has a pretty unrestricted build system. You can make a character that can't deal any damage but has lots of party steroids and ene y debuffs to throw out.

I know Tree of Savior is similar, but when I played trying to level as a dependent slut was a pain in the ass because the party system was all fuged.
