It's me again. While this character isnt necessarily for sex, its what sells, so I'd like tips on how to write my kinks better, to make them more attractive.

There's a button near the kinks/custom kinks section called the 'subkinks editor', a way to make your customs look more aesthetic is to put your default kinks within the custom. A lazy way is to do a 'misc favorite', 'misc yes' etc custom for each row.

As for the writing itself? You're writing your kinks like it's part of a manual, most of the descriptions are exactly what it says on the tin, and in some cases there's nothing really different from the default kinks. Think about it like this:

Why does this kink make your character hot and sweaty? If it's from their perspective.

Why does this kink make YOU hot and sweaty? If it's from your perspective.

I like the potential of this profile, but I have a soft spot for AI/Androids/etc. What it seems to lack is a… sense of personality? I don't know what 68 is like, I don't know what to expect from her. It's got a lot of her backstory, but not a lot about her. It makes the profile lack a certain amount of intimacy that I think it needs? As if it's described by someone who heard about 68, rather than someone who knows 68.

Other minor points:

- Two commas max per sentence. Fewer is better, but two is allowed. The second half of your first paragraph is all one sentence.

- Is she human or android? The 'Catalog Entry' drop-down says she has no augments or cybernetics. Is she a synthetic? Confused.

- Can't even pass a Voight-Kampff test!? In <current-future year>!? Appalling!

Anyway, I' wanting to make a vanilla pink to start some profile play. I'm going to be looking for one-off plays that change her over time. Particularly looking for exotic sci-fi events.

The starting Idea I want to go with is a girl from a farming village who fled when the place was burning to the ground, and got lost as she fled the flames.

So a young woman wandering country roads with nothing but the clothes on her back, probably hungry and tired with long term goals of finding her way back home and reconnecting with any surviving family. Fate could easily have other plans.

Honestly, seems a pretty decent premise to me. Just need to consolidate your ideas in a more orderly fashion so they're clearer on a profile. The gentle giant who still can't get over the need to manhandle from time to time when passions spikes but shows worry he went 'too far' after the fact is a pretty under-serviced archetype. Most larger folk tend to go suave dom, alpha meat head or total bara homo fruit party. Nothing wrong with any of those, but seeing a more clumsy but still eager big guy seems like it'd hit a lot of buttons for some folks after romance play or role reversal.

Yes, in terms of your profile "blandness" there is definitely lots which can be done.

Both of these have plenty of commonly used themes which you can draw from to spice things up, and it's always easy to get a crack of PS now and days if you really wanna go hardcore with inlines. Even if you don't though, having one of the simpler designs listed there goes far in making your profile look nice. Lots of the ones off profile layouts actually look kind of bad in my opinion, but I included it since I can spot one or two which still look nice in my opinion.

After that though, I'd say you could probably improve all your icons, and for Teri in particular having an alt on your char list which has the default icon is always a black mark aesthetically in my book. For fancy fonts, I would go to:

Subfetish editor.

Pick system kinks on the left, pick custom kinks on the right. When you assign a system kink to a custom kink, that sets it as a subfetish for the custom kink.

Yes.

Subkinks let you store normal kinks underneath a custom kink. Any custom kink can store any number of subkinks (even 0). If it has more than 0, it will show the collapsible + sign.

If you use the subkink editor and store a kink under a custom, it will appear under it. However, these won't show up as 'Fave/Yes/Maybe/No' when you compare your profile to someone else's profile! You have to have a kink selected for it to do that.

Example: You have a custom 'Training' under 'Fave', and you use the subfetish editor to put 'Anal Training' and 'Lease/Collar' under it. You then use the normal editor to put 'Anal Training' under 'Yes', but don't vote on 'Lease/Collar' at all. People will see 'Anal Training' and 'Leash/Collar' tucked under your 'Training' custom, but when you compare your profile to someone else's, 'Anal Training' will only light up green (as 'Yes'), even though it's technically displayed under your 'Fave' category, and 'Leash/Collar' won't show up at all, because you haven't voted on the kink itself.

I have several kinks that are 'Fave' under the right context, but 'maybe' in a general-sense. So I use this to show which things I like, and what context I like them, but still have them 'Maybe' when I compare my profile against someone elses (so, without context.)

A couple little things that trigger my autism:

Your custom for hacking has a typo, says "who knows that you could do", when it should be "who knows what". There's a couple others throughout the profile itself that I don't really feel like listing off

All the little segments that end in .exe (origin, physical assessment, etc), really shouldn't be .exe files. .exe is short for executable, it's a program that does something when ran. What you are looking for are .txt text files, or maybe .dat. Actually, the origin one is just a quote, so you could have it be a .ogg or .mp3, which are sound files. Likewise with emotional analysis.

If you're not going to actually give us anything in the skill analysis, then there's not much point in it even being there, and it just adds clutter.

And finally, whatever font that is that you have for the assignment status is hard to read

The stats are difficult to read. This is true,I can try the other font that pleased me, but ideally I wouldn't have bothered with it at all. It and the skill section are both parts of the template, I tried scrapping them and wound up breaking the whole thing beyond my limited ability to fix.

so long as you're paying attention, it shouldn't be too hard to remove specific dropdowns. It should look something like this:

Something like that anyway. Try to find where that block begins, and remove everything until you find the matching closing tag. It should start with the [collapse=] and thus will end at the next [/collapse], assuming there's not another [collapse=] inside of it (which there isn't), everything related to that block should be contained within that pair of tags, so delete that pair of tags and everything between them, but nothing else

Alright. I've changed and unified a bunch of the fonts, changed the extensions to more fitting ones- though I'm not sold on the need for them. A few customs have been re-written to be more direct and relevant and I managed to find and excise the pointless collapse without breaking the one bracket or line that held the entire thing together.

I'd like to double dip on the fonts and use something more exotic slash impossible to read for all the quotes. But I can live without that

It's a good baseline, with an expandable setting. You can grow your profile in anyway you'd want, I know it's common to think of a profile as an "advertisement" for everyone who clicks on it, to try and get people to approach you. But you have to be happy with it as-well.

It's got a bit of writing on it, but it's more of a story-esq writing than descriptive or interactions between characters which is more prominent in actual roleplay, which can help people see how you actually write if they wanted to roleplay it out. More custom kinks couldn't hurt as-well, to give people more of an idea if they want to approach you or even helping yourself and partner out when planning out what to put into a scene. Like; Favourite sex acts, characteristics like hair-colour and clothes, mannerisms and language, etc.

Also a PERSONAL OPINION. Don't go over-board, you've got a simple profile at the moment which works the best, I believe. Don't go insane with inlines and collapse-ables, trying to make your profile the flashiest thing on the market. Like one of those horrible "profile templates" >>133744 here. One last thing, your avatar is stretched a-little, which is the down-side of using a small image for it. Cleaning it up a little in photoshop or even paint to find a better dimensions might help you stand out more.

Probably the biggest advice anyone can give in ero-rp, is don't be afraid or embarrassed. This is playing out fantasies and trying to have fun, do what you want to do and be confident about it and people will want to play with you. If you like an "eccentric" kink just put it up or suggest it.

I like to highlight things that really work well for me, even if the kinks cover it. Or give a custom that explains why I like something I really like, and then tuck those generic kinks under it using the subfetish editor.

It helps make kinks a bit personal. If I really like muscle, explaining why I like it as a custom helps my potential partners know how to push my buttons specifically, more than just 'Muscular Partners' does. That's vague. I like to provide context.

This is known as a faceclaim, and yes it's okay to do it, but be sensible. Few people will buy it if you use fucking 2B or Rias Gremory as a reference, but a genderbent touhou minor character might have a better chance.

If you worry about seeming too gay, then perhaps add in some gallery picture of a cop fucking females, instead of the gay focus it have right now. I like how you weave scene ideas into the character description. The scenes suggested might be a bit too subtle, but then again, that could also be a natural filter of players you wouldn't want to play with, since they need things spelled out.

Police thing is a good hook though in my opinion, since by it's nature it's a profession that plausible can bring your character in touch with a lot of people, and naturally fits into fantasies others already have had.

You shouldn't worry about being too vanilla though. Some people likes it, others don't and that's all there is too it. The important thing is that it's kinks you enjoy.

Honestly though, I'll be surprised if you don't get any bites, if your approaches/ads matches your profile in quality.

That's super good for your first character. I've gotten to 100 views with less, and considering you've never posted an ad or anything judging by the fact you just finished, only having 3 is great. For your first character every they're fine, the only thing I'd maybe mention is that you can color your collapses too on Dark theme, but that's about it.

F-List is a cesspool when it comes to the community, and I wish there was an alternative to that place, with customizable profiles and all that. Truth be told, while I understand that you worry about your profile not being attractive enough, don't let that fool you; there are people who have really awesome profiles, but are really fucking SHIT at RP too. You might think the person you're approaching will be good, but then you get a huge disappointment, so IMO just keep your profile at necessary length, don't turn it into a TL;DR heap of shit, sometimes I've seen people with little text in their profiles who instead proved that they're good in public, or just brought people over to them by simple conversation. Just don't be a sugar-coated piece of shit.

What's the general consensus on using not-so-obscure canon characters as profile references? I personally wouldn't refuse play over it; I've seen pretty decent looking people using fairly major (read: starter cards in the mobile game and/or characters I see everywhere) characters from that franchise and they don't seem to have issues. At least its cast is massive and very few people, especially on F-List, will actually recognize most of them (unlike Love Live! where there's only a handful of very recognizable idols).

It might just be me, but the avatar looks a little stretched - I would recommend re-cropping it, and if you really want to go the extra mile, cut it into a circle or add some kind of copy/paste decorative border. The layout isn't bad and everything is readable, but scrapping the conditional tense (wouldposting) would work in your favor. As far as the text/writing itself though, both description and custom kinks, it's sort of… bland. This is entirely subjective, but making your prose just a little bit more purple and making your kinks more plentiful and sensual/tantalizing will put you ahead of several extremely similar blues.

First and currently only profile, shaking off a year's worth of rust. Ripping into me for anything I could do better would be wonderful - specifically I'm thinking of going more indepth about the setting, but I'm similarly insecure about the formatting.

It's a fine idea, but your pitch needs work. You need to sell it. Make it seem like he's the kind of guy who needs adventure or excitement, and my character is just the one to provide it. Your profile right now has one line of that. Needs a bit more.

Even a tiny handful of custom kinks would go a long way.

Icon > Inline > Custom Kinks > Images > Reading Bio

I think a lot of people process in that order, or similar to it. Which is why having an inline is good, because it short-cuts a picture into the scanning process. But a few custom kinks could be a shortcut to your bio, giving me an idea of what to expect when I play with you.

I'm just spitballing here, but maybe talk about what kind of boy genius he is? Even the two examples you gave are very different. Dexter is a recluse who spends literally all of his free time doing science bullshit. He basically has no friends, and that seems okay with him. Jimmy Neutron, on the other hand, is a casual in comparison. Sure he's a genius and makes cool inventions, but he's fundamentally different in how he treats companionship. His robot companion is a dog, while Dexter's is an AI if I remember correctly. So that might be one place to start!

Also, never go without kinks, even customs. I've tried it before, it really leads to confusion about what you want out of RP. Even if you're just doing customs about story RP or types of characters or scenes you want, it's better than nothing.

Alright so I'm making a character primarily based in non-sexual interactions that are sexually charged. The idea is that this young guy is the new owner of his father's company, he's not dumb but not particularly smart. However one thing he's weak to is seduction and lust, being used and trailed on. Even innocent flirting would be enough to get him to pull out his wallet to buy them something, give them some sort of control. Cleavage, short skirts or shorts, and teasing jokes make him go mad, even willing to give his car away to a woman or trap or something that he met an hour ago if they push his buttons right, eager to please.

My question is, how do I make this more interesting/attractive? Right now it's mostly focused on the partner, and it'd be a horribly one sided character that displays more what I'm looking for that what he is, but I don't have many ideas on how to improve this.

I'm back! This time with a block of text that I'd like to have evaluated. Inspiration came to me on a walk, it's a small bit of characterisation explaining (I hope) a somewhat unusual response to a common thing. The character is uneasy and increasingly uncomfortable around worship. She thinks people who believe are trying to avoid facing the fact that existence is arbitrary and everything is meaningless.

She also thinks believers are afraid and that they need something from everyone else. She doesn't know why or what they might need. and the fact that she doesn't know unsettles her to the point of panic.

It's like being approached by a potato who can't articulate their needs. You -know- something's wrong but not what or how to understand them. Anyway, I present to you a chunk of characterisation

Nikkiel disliked worship. Not the abstract notion of faith, no. Belief she could accept even if she herself lacked it. What bothered her, deep in that black, piss-stinking animal meat of the hind brain, a dislike that ran so far through fear that it became something akin to atavistic dread. A blindly screaming panic, was something she couldn't describe. Not a women given to introspection Nikkiel existed almost wholly within the first two or three layers of her own mind. The deeper currents that shaped her thoughts existed outside her sight or any need to examine, and as such the blunt truth crouching behind her dislike had never bubbled near enough to the surface to be seen and snatched up. It was not a complex reason- illogical? Perhaps, but simple, and rooted in the same poisoned soil that touched every mind aware enough to understand.

Life in Cyantine City was an absurdist joke. Size and scope rendered the worth of any and everything so insignificant as to be hilarious and harrowing all at once. This was not a reality friendly to sentient life and even those born amid the starkest proof where immune to the creeping horror that was utter insignificance. Some, like brazen Nikkiel chose to face this fact for what it was. An unkind and arbitrary truth whose light allowed for neither escape nor denial. They chose to revel in their worthlessness- for if they didn't matter then nothing they could do mattered and so they might as well live in whatever manner pleased them. Others, the Travellers Nikkiel enjoyed speaking with on those infrequent occasions she crossed their path saw and accepted the same truth, instead choosing to create for themselves meaning as opposed to wallowing in the empty glory of utter freedom. Others still, unwilling to face the unkind light of reality, chose to turn away and deny. Allowing faith in the other to fill the empty places.

Nikkiel had been twelve, a babe clutching at mothers leg when she'd first seen the faithful. Not the serene men and women who offered prayer to K.R.E.N.N and preached a quiet acceptance of life's cruel tribulations. No, these had been true worshippers- casting their hopes skyward with song and praise. They had been friendly enough, open faces and kindly smiles that had chilled the child to her young core. Fear. Smiles that where fixed. Bolted on and eyes that drew a thin blanket over the terrified need lurking within. Real or not, truth or the result of a child's imagination the fear a young Nikkiel had seen in the faithful had reached out and infested her. Nikkiel saw the desperate, drowning need that could not be put into words- and because she did not understand she in turn knew fear. “I don't know what you want” was the cant of her fear “I don't know how to help you”

First thing I thought when I opened it was "Fuck a wall of text". I mean the writing is good from what I glanced, but it's not very inviting is it? The inline art is nice and not too obnoxious. I'm just a random shitter but here's my advice.

Explain in the profile that you like your partner designing your character. Give examples of the kinds of things they can pick, in text and images. Write a few rough sample characters. This will show you aren't lazy.

Off the top of my head at 2 am past midnight: It simple takes too long to find out what's the profile's hook for a scene in the profile description.

Coming to get some advice for a character I wish to create for erp purposes.

I want to make a dragon, but hear me out, I don't want to make some furry thing that calls itself a dragon, I mean an actual honest to goodness dragon. I didn't think it was bad at all, and interesting look into the mind of a bitter professor. What I didn't really get was the second paragraph, did she just rape a student for trying to kiss up? That's what I gathered, and if so I think it was even pretty clever to cut suggestions of how to get into grad school with descriptions of what she was doing to Girl. It wasn't really the clearest picture, but again you might have been going for vague.

So I've had this idea for a profile for a while now, and I wanted to get a clue on how feasible it might be.

Basically, the profile is for two characters that I'd like to play at once. To make things easier on myself, I was thinking the two would be like a wizard and their summon, hunter and their pet, etc. One of them does all the talking and the other just acts, rarely- if ever -speaking. Custom kinks don't allow you to come up in profile searches unless they're specifically typed, so it's definitely recommended to fill out the actual kink list and perhaps narrow them down to categories using the sub-fetish feature. It's a little work for a lot more exposure.

Other than that, you have an inline image that fits and a proper description - that's a lot more than most have.

The advice I give anyone is to include custom kinks that somehow tie into the character's sexual personality, and to write them from a unique perspective. Make them as long and involved as possible without sounding like you're struggling for words. One or two sentences worth under each really isn't much better than using the vanilla descriptions.

I think the problem you have not just with this profile, but with your other profiles, is that they're fine. They're not great or amazing, they're just fine. It's probably what happened with Darwin

This is all my personal opinion, but when I see this profile and a lot of other profiles, it becomes more of "pictures in a situation" as opposed to "characters in a situation." Does that make sense? I don't think your profile does a very good job of characterizing Sakai, and you might not have him as well thought out as you think you do.

Look at the first and second paragraphs. We learn that he works for a robotics company, he invented a serious kind of chip that made his company a lot of money, he lost some fingers and can't replace them, and there's a description of how he looks. There are some interesting hooks in there: the logic chip, and why he can't replace his fingers. But we don't learn about why Sakai works there. If that's too specific and you want to leave that to RP, we don't learn anything about how Sakai feels working at the robotics company. We don't learn exactly what kind of creations he likes to make.

Those are things you might think best left to the RP, but I'd disagree. You might think of them, those characterizing traits, as spoilers. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. Even if you give away why Sakai works at this robotics company, good reason or not, there're infinite ways to expand upon that. Let's say, just for example, that he likes to work in robotics because his mother always had a bionic arm, but it was always horrible parts that were cheap and barely malfunctioned. So you take that and say, "Sakai works because of this reason." After he becomes a doctor, it could go any number of ways that you can decide in your RP, or in your own headcanon:

Sakai's mother is fine now, Sakai couldn't help but continually experiment on a willing patient until his mother was an unrecognizable mess, the corporation or wherever Sakai works for won't allow Sakai to just give out free implants, so he has to steal it or save a ridiculous amount of money.

The point I'm trying to get at is you need you flesh your character out more and actually talk about it in the profile however you see fit. You don't have to just straight up tell us, you can write it as a scene or throw in little hints and details. That's what I think is wrong with your profile.

Usually one sentence for for upbringing and education to help provide context for their behavior, one sentence for current day-to-day activities like job or hobbies, one sentence for something they are struggling with, and one sentence for their general goals is good. You could even cut some of those out if they aren't interesting.

Generally it helps to focus on information that gives context to the character and places them in their world.

You can also use a little fluff to tell people a lot about characters. Something like "So-and-so calls his single mother at least every other day." Tells us a little about the character's habits, tells us a little about their family situation and lets us guess about how they grew up, and tells us that they're able to maintain a good relationship there while leaving a lot open.

Whites sound like they're from New Jersey but with a slower diction. Blacks sound like blacks, same as they do anywhere else in the south, but are harder to understand. Coonasses are incomprehensible and virtually subhuman. A lot of fuckups from other hipster epicenters are moving here because rent is cheaper, and the pool of good service industry is woefully small. It's always going to be exhausting doing your own art for profiles because you will constantly be feeling like "fuck, I can do better than this" because you are constantly improving.

I don't think that the art is the biggest hurdle for the profile. The text explaining your character is pretty long and it took me a while of getting through it to get to anything that gave me a remote idea of what a roleplay with your character might be like. That is something you want people to know first and foremost.

Some of it depends on the other internet subcultures that you belong to, but once in a blue moon you will see someone flaunting all of their commissions the same way that you might see other people flaunting their large purchases. Obviously that's frowned upon because, you know, being a braggart sucks. If you just amass art and are nice about it you're fine.

…if you're going to have an inline, at least make it worth its slot. If you don't want a full-blown image manipulation project or anything at the very least use a different font, maybe crop one of your images to a similar size, or combine the two and have text overlaying (or partially overlaying) your image. I use dark theme so it looks especially terrible, but even if I didn't I would just be confused as to why you used an inline instead of just using header text. Red/pink is always visible but pink is a safer bet for blue theme (let's be honest, nothing looks all that great on that saturated blue background). Your writing, quotes, and concept are fine, and that's what really counts.

One final extremely subjective nitpick regarding the tl;dr though: use [user]Marquess[/user] or at the very least put the icon somewhere that isn't in a line of text.
