It seems it's pretty new to you (in US) and I think Europe can relate to that. Yes we had some communists in west, yes we had communism in east but all these different branches of left kind of appeared after fall of iron curtain, at least in eastern Europe and internet helped to spread it out. However, the thing is that some points of the left, same as of the right, are pretty valid and searching answer for them is reasonable. The way I see it though is that left and right have in certain positions so much in common. I'm not talking really about political goals or ideas/solutions of problems, but more about situation they are now in. I'm not centrist or trying to make some neutral ground here but it's almost obvious to me that if people from the right would talk more to people on the left and vice versa, they would see they are nothing more than people with different views but the real enemy is somewhere else.
