If I was talking about rejecting hierarchies and cooperation from others, then yeah, what you said would be totally correct, but you missed my point. I was talking about people in society relying on themselves (being independent) and on their own members (being inter-dependent) rather than the government or some big powerful authority to sort out their lives (being dependent). A lot of modern "men" are still immature and try to prolong their childhood as much as possible, for them living in the real world, making their own life decisions and surviving by themselves is a lot scarier than playing videogames and living in the comfort of their mom's house, so when their parents eventually die or kick them out, these weak men need another "parent" to take care of them.
