anyone here quit smoking successfully? I've quit caffeine, alcohol, and sugar. Eating better. Feel like I'm better overall, but the cigs still keep me down and depressed. But I can't help but smoke. Work and relationships stressing me out. Just feel like I'm in a tar pit of black depression (I think it's caffeine withdrawals…) Just looking for inspo…

Hell no, last 2 months I'm trying to quit, that should speak about my degree of success.
>but the cigs still keep me down and depressed
Ikr, it's fucked up. It became drug for me. I won't smoke for 8 hours and I start to laugh hysterically, being genuinely happy, smiling, then I smoke one or two and I feel even fucking better. Then it gets back to exhaustion so I stop for few hours just to re-gain this euphoria and right after I blow myself away with few cancersticks. Even though I feel really better if I don't smoke, maybe some endorphins shit, I'm like robot, it's unbelievable how better my skin and hair looks even after 8 hours - no circles under eyes, better tone of skin, hair looks healthier. I didn't know you can see it so quickly but I was always quick healer, I can only dream how good it'd be if I would hold up for 24+ hours. Heck I might try it today but even thinking about it makes me anxious about stress from withdrawal. Will post progress.

Okay, the best way for me to get through the first month is to supplement with alpha-gpc (choline), l-theanine (reduces anxiety), and N-ACETYL cysteine. Orange juice instead of coffee, and no drinking. This combo helps make it bearable.

Hello r/ROBOT9001!
While I'm very glad hearing from you, I'm afraid I have to disappoint you. I could never care less about what afabs think about me but life not spinning around females and not even around any group of people in general might be very hard thing to image, same as actually liking things and not being anus. Don't give up, you will make it one day!
Keep the real robothours 🕒🔥 going, smash that mf'kin like button 👍 keep it 💯👌👌👌😂😂
Yours Latvia

I've quit a variety of narcotics, ranging from Heroin and pain killers to benzo's. All were hell and I went through withdrawals more times than I can count over the years. Upon a host of things in my life that had already kinda fucked my head up, all the times getting high and coming down just added to my self diagnosed PTSD. For whatever reason, I struggle going more than an hour without some nicotine. I begin to feel extremely moody, mad at my cat mad at the microwave etc. There are times where I am utterly desperate and broke so I pick through ashtrays for smoked cigarette butts and remove the last pinch of tobacco so I can smoke it straight out of a duggout. I've quit a lot of things that brought grief to my life, but fuck all to Nicotine. If you're still young enough and can breathe without having to clear your throat every 10 minutes, do yourself a favor and don't smoke cigarettes. It doesn't make you cool. I thought it did at one point in my life.

When I turned 18, I picked up smoking almost immediately and did so for almost two years before quitting. Now I'm 34 and smoking again and I can't seem to cut the shit. In fact I think I'll go have one right now.

You have to really want to quit. It helps to be older because the smoking makes you feel extra shitty and quitting gives real results of improved health. Finish your pack of smokes then do not buy another. Stop hanging around smokers, if you can not then at least resist the urge to bum smokes from your friends. That voice telling you you want to smoke is not your own, it is the nicotine, a demons voice in your head. It will drive you mad for a while, be the master of your mind. You have to concentrate if you do not pay attention you will smoke unconsciously. For me it took about a month to go from cigs tasting good to them tasting bad. In spite of the bad taste your mind will still want to give cigs another try. Do not do. Cold turkey is the only way to escape. No patches, do not vape. Smoke just one cig and you fall back to day zero of quitting. Do not underestimate the power of nicotine. It takes tremendous strength of will to escape. I have been quit for years now. Occasionally I will bum a cig just to reminisce. I am far enough away from addiction that the nicotine cannot get its hooks back into me. If you succeed you will feel better and wonder why you didn't quit sooner, why you ever smoked at all. Good luck, you can do this.

My psych prescribed me Bupropion for depression and while it didn't help with it, it significantly reduced my cigarette cravings. (went from 20 cigs a day to 4-5.) Apparently bupropion is also prescribed for smoking cessation and it works wonders.
There's a bunch of other prescription meds that show even better results so to anyone who wants to quit I recommend a visit at your GP and talk with him about it.
Forget about nicotine patches and all that OTC stuff.
