Dating is both more fucked up and yet way more convenient than it was when I was in my early 20s and teens.

Tinder wasn't around then, and the only people who used dating websites were desperate single moms and older men. We hooked up with whoever was putting out at a party or nightclub, and just let ourselves get sucked into the grinder of toxic relationships and one night stands. Finding someone wasn't that hard, but there were different challenges. In many cases fights may start as dudes competed over women. I'd never been in a fight over this shit myself, but I saw it happen all of the time. The alternative to a party or nightclub was someone from school, work, or some shared hobby. My point is you had to actually meet people through a shared physical space and then go through with lighting sparks off then and there. There was no rehearsed image of self on social media or grueling period where you just sit and wait for no response or a bad response. You went in for the kill, and you knew you'd know immediately if it would kick off or not, and there was no time to overthink everything.

Now adays you don't even need to leave your room to find women who might be interested in you. Just sit around all day and hoard matches on Tinder. In that respect, I envy some of the younger chads who are able to score several dates with different women on a routine basis. If I had an app to help me find stacies at age 19, I imagine I'd have a lot more notches under my belt too. On the other hand, I think their idea of dating and love is somehow even more fucked up than my generation… and xennials really fucking hit the ditch, too. We were scum of the earth.

I should add that meeting someone online was kind of a thing in the 00s with MySpace, message boards, chat rooms, but even that wasn't really the same as what we have now. It was still considered pretty socially awkward back then. I hooked up with a girl I met on MySpace, but we actually kicked things off through a lot of shared interests and conversation. We didn't start talking to each other with the expectation of being lovers like one would on an app. Things just picked up naturally by talking about heavy metal, comic books, video games. Then one day after many months we said hey you don't live too far, want to hang out? Then we hung out and fucked. I know people who fell in love over World of Warcraft too. It was a different time.

I didnt bother with clubbing because I hate those places and I dont like being around party people. Back then I only had to compete with the men around me, thats it. Unless I was in a male model convention then the odds were not so bad since at least in my case there were decent women around and the competition was more or less at my same level.

But now I've to compete with EVERYBODY, every dude at the same time. If all a guy wants to do is smash and he's better looking than me then I'm fucked because the girls on my league are going to match with him, and can you blame them? if a really good looking 10/10 chick matched with you just for sex would you say no and go with the less hot one because "its unfair"?. And I've heard some women going through the same problem of having to compete with far hotter women.

But for men it gets worse because it doesnt work the same way, really good looking 10/10 chicks dont have a need to smash, very few women do, its biological. We might be equal in some aspects but in others men and women are really different.

Not really, back in the day when they asked "so what you do?" you could just omit details but now everybody wants to see your social media, they want to see your twitter your ig, where you been what you buy what you have etc etc……Sure you can fake that one too but still it takes work and frankly I dont like lying on that level, "fake it till you make it" always sounded bad for me and I didn't used to lie about my status before either.

What bothers me the most is the fucking LAZINESS in these apps. I want a relantionship and like 85% of the women there also say they want that…….but fuck put some goddam effort you lazy shit!. Most of the matches I get dont do anything, I've to carry the conversation all by myself. Just fucking undo the match if you cant even be bothered to do small talk and stop wasting my time.

The worse case is bumble by far: its all women-centric so to avoid "harassment" women have to match and talk to you first…….but theres a time limit and guess what? they dont, they match you and dont say shit so you lose the match. Another problem is how these apps are designed, the business model is about consumption, they make money with ads or by selling you tokens to keep looking at people. Old systems tried to match you with people with the same interests, now they dont even bother to ask for your interests anymore because that would narrow the amount of people you would see and by extension the number of ads and your motivation to buy tokens.

The more time you waste in this shit the more money they make………which is why I block the ads and never ever buy tokens. And neither should you

I believe that women "trade up" for a better mate because there is no reason not to. People are rational creatures, that is, they behave according to what is good for them (I speak not of intelligence.) When a man makes a deal, he will peruse the market for that which he wishes to acquire and will make a deal that he believes benefits him the most. A sane man will not agree to deal A if he has knowledge of deal B with a better payoff, and if he makes a deal which seems to be a losing deal than there is more that meets the eye. Yes you already see where this is going. Why should anyone expect a woman to remain binded to man A when man B can cut her a better deal? In the eyes of a woman man A is superior to man B.

I'm doing okay. I responded to a former classmate on snap chat. She said she was bored with nothing to do and wanted to go on an ice cream date or something. Right, in that sense it's much harder for younger people. What I meant was today's swipe app culture basically allows you to go on the hunt without leaving your room in opposite to how it was when I was younger when I had to actually go out and try. So it's both easier for people to date now but more fucked up, and as you said if you're not perfect then you're in a terrible position.
