Planning on picking up Ligotti’s ‘The Conspiracy against the Human Race’. The writer behind True Detective plagiarised that one to hell and back: https://web.archive.org/web/20170705075133/https://lovecraftzine.com/2014/08/04/did-the-writer-of-true-detective-plagiarize-thomas-ligotti-and-others/

Thanks for the heads up on this guy! His writings seem really interesting.
Back in 2012 he wrote The Second Sexism: Discrimination Against Men and Boys, and, of course, feminists took to the keyboards to attack him. I wonder how much worse backlash he would have gotten in the current year.
Last year I read Pelsjegerliv (Trapper Life), by Helge Ingstad, which details his years living in the remote Canadian wilderness for several years, living as a trapper. A very inspiring and beautiful book that makes you want to go out on your own and survive in the wilderness.

What, no Hermann Löns?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermann_L%C3%B6ns
<Hermann Löns (1866-1914) was a German journalist, writer, hunter, natural historian & conservationist, famous as ‘The Poet of the Heath’, for his novels & poems celebrating the people & landscape of the North German moors, particularly Lüneburg Heath in Lower Saxony. In Germany he is well-known for his famous folksongs. Löns considered himself as a poet of nature & he had argued eloquently for conservationism. He was co-initiator of the Heideschutzpark at Wilseder Berg, which later grew into the Naturpark Lüneburger Heide (Lüneburg Heath Nature Park), the first nature reserve in Germany. Löns combined these sentiments, based not least on the Heimatbewegung of the turn of the century – the concept of an ‘aristocratic peasantry’ (blood and soil), enmity towards the metropolis (Berlin).
I’m not sure Ingstad’s book would be published today, given his honest descriptions of the Canadian indians, who were a far cry from the noble savage myth regurgitated in the current year. The guy was a total badass; he mentions very briefly in a footnote, when talking about a Canadian ranger, that this ranger helped him amputate part of his big toe after suffering from frostbite, and after the Indians nature medicine proved unhelpful.
Here is the first part of a Norwegian docu from ’98 in which Ingstad appears briefly, and a group of adventurers, including Ingstad’s grandson, head out to find the place Ingstad and a fellow trapper built their log cabin in the wilderness of Canada.

Depends on. Both Evola and Spengler are good in making you understand how futile the struggles of both Fascists and National Socialists were and are against the enroaching destruction of Western civilization. From then on, you could start preparing yourself both physically and mentally to be part of the builders of a new civilization or die trying to.

To certain degree that's also a premise of nihilism and somewhat related philosophies, possibly existentialism or even egoism. People like to read only the "first part" as - oh man, nothing matters, god is dead, i'm my own god, there is nothing we can do to change our starting points of our existences, let's fuck shit up and inject heroinz nigga. But in fact the "second part" is talking more about freedom that comes out of it, in other words, nothing (or almost nothing, f.e. laws of nature) is set as unchangeable sets of rules and from this, what seems to be as void, you can build a new better self or even whole world.

>nothing (or almost nothing, f.e. laws of nature) is set as unchangeable
I find it amusing how almost all people I've ever met were incapable of at least to entertain themselves with the though that what we take for granted doesn't have to exists hundred years from now. No Slovakia, no west, no France, no Germany etc. I've met only a few people able to do this but for me it is something obvious. It has happened many many times before . Things change and clinging on something to hard is no good I think.
Also is being a national socialist in [CURRENT YEAR] a borderline mental retardation?

It's not just that but especially Stirner's egoism is teaching about how our f.e. hierarchies are just fake. He used example (I think, was long time since i read his books), where he described that what holds you from coming to politician and slap him into face is literally nothing but spook putting you into submissive position in hierarchy in your own head. Niggers are better in this than we are, their chimpouts are just better. All we can do is to dodge couple of teargas cans, burn few cars and hold candles for people who got into jail or get killed. I would admire political assassins if they wouldn't be in most cases just tool of other "power" to change something in politics.

I'm not really a fan of books that deal on the decline or how to fix society, as I believe the hopelessness comes from within and the decay or fall of the systems won't affect me in my cave. This book threats the theme of the feeling of not belonging anywhere pretty well, and the internal struggle that a doomer have to simply keep existing. One of my favorite books to date.

When you read this book, you leave this world for a time, and you enter another world, parallel to this one, and perhaps far worse than anything we face now. But it reminds you of this one in so many ways. Humorous in an almost boilerplate sort of way, but very intelligently written. Very visual, visceral, and very cerebral, all at the same time. Think this world is a nigger? The world of the protagonist is Tyrone the Great with various mutations and cybernetic enhancements. Marvel as the protagonist yet shows you "how it's done". It includes many layers of ideation, image, and even narratives in both metapolitical and metaphysical shades that will intrigue anyone, yet nothing is bogged down, and you will never be unengaged with the immediacy of that other, very doomed world. Not too long either, but it seems like a very long adventure.

John O'Brien who wrote Leaving Las Vegas was an underrated doomer novelist and alcoholic suicide. He wrote a book about a guy falling in love with a stripper (aside from Leaving Las Vegas) and another about a bunch of drunks who hole up in their bar during a race riot.

We just accept the reputation. We're the boogeyman. Americans literally create their own worst enemy when they lump "everything i don't like" into one category. If you want to get anywhere in America, and you happen to be a 3rd party that isn't Republican or Democrat, you've gotta accept being a boogeyman and move on. We're the video game bad guys, almost 75 years worth of anti-communist propaganda has turned us into the "big bad other" that everyone fears and nobody understands. When we speak, everyone sticks their fingers in their ears like children. That's why we have to be bold. NazBol memes basically add up to "200 gorillion wasn't enough, fuck glibalist capitalists". That's because we've accepted the propaganda and use it to our advantage. Name another ideology badass enough to literally become the boogeyman of an entire county of 360 million people for nearly 75 years. Nazism? NazBols incorporate Nazi aesthetics. Join the gang if you want to destroy society as we know it.

What about good fiction books where the protagonist ends up going down a deep hole? Not like Lovecraft's random insanity but someone who's in such a fucked up situation or state it starts to consume them.
I've been reading Apartment 16 and while it's horror based the themes are about the decay of society through someone's eyes and the freedom this can bring them when they witness it.

Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton. Very depressing book that most would find boring because it mainly deals with the protagonist's thoughts and feelings of being trapped in a desolate landscape that reflects himself. One of the most fatal reminders are the inscriptions on his ancestor's tombstones that remind him that he is doomed to repeat their lives and never escape. The main source or positivity in the book is a young girl he's attracted to that creates an illusion of escape, but ends up contributing to a suicidal nature of escape that's both dumb because of her and fails sealing his trapped destiny.

idk if u will like this, /doomer/s, but why not give it a a try:
>Literature, art, science, the influx of this monstrous invasion replaces everything. The whole world is nothing but a teeming putrefaction that rises, rises and invades everything and swallows it up.
>Humanity considers itself noble. It speaks of heroism, of progress and is not aware of its infection. The abyss has opened up and humanity falls into it singing, howling, quarreling, with its god, its fatherland, its murderous civilization, its elegant degeneration.
>Everything falls, everything collapses. Moldy morality, twisted and lying philosophies, out-dated rhetoric do not redeem the situation. The disease has advanced and there is no longer any way to prevent it. The tidbits that adorn the old structure have become the home of infectious microbes. Everything is already condemned to disappear, crushed under the enormous pile of old rubbish. History closes this curious phase, which presented the incomprehensible spectacle of inertia in members devoted to a throng of various non-existent phantoms, and which saw continuous ridiculous construction in order to then destroy, the continuous patient suffering of the multitudes and the revelry of the few, everything creating an ensemble of cowardice, inversion, wickedness that they would try to pass off as heroism, everything a withered mentality that they call inspired.

Maurice Dantec is 100% Doomer. It’s one of the only french great science fiction author. At the end the 90s he was mocked by the critics, who were considered his vision of the future as irrealist:
Mass migration, global chaos, perpetual terror attacks and counter-attacks, rise of the alternative cults and other sects, global pauperisation of the population due to environmental policy.
Best books:
-Babylon Babies: the novel that inspired Babylon AD.
-American black box: his views on north american politics, Europe, 9/11 and many other stuff.
-Meta Cortex: The story takes place in Montreal, flooded by migrants, sweep by hurricanes and terror attacks. You follow a cop investigating pedophiles rings and ex-military Hells angels. A must read.

Not everyone knows German, fam. I know someone translated The Philosophy of Redemption in it's entirety, but I rather read a paper copy instead of a PDF. I'm just glad that some Austrilian University is working on a English translation. I just wish I could find a paper copy of Zapffe's On The Tragic.
Has anyone read attached? I'm mainly looking at Leopardi's The Zibaldone and Burton's Anatomy of Melancholy. My only qualm is both of them are ridiculously fucking long. Th Zibaldone is supposed to be more than 2500 pages, and Anatomy of Melancholy just shy of 1400. I don't mind spending time on a book if it's good, but it would almost be a commitment to read one.

I'm in the middle of reading the anatomy of melancholy. Just finished the first partition which is ~400 pages. Part of the length is pages on pages of footnotes which are grouped at the ends of each partition, of which there are three, and since they're all in Latin I don't expect many people read them. So I would put the actual length at somewhere closer to 1100 pages.
As for the book itself, it's like a monument to scholasticism. He can quote examples from just about every author and authority imaginable as he rattles off what causes melancholy (the subject of the first partition). The most famous part of the book I believe is the third partition but I'm not there yet so I can't say much about it. I will say though that it's nice to read a short section out of it every day or so.

If you mean "political" in the modern, vulgar sense of participating in (read as: worshiping) government, then I agree, doomers aren't political. From Nicolás Gómez Dávila (top-right):
>Man matures when he stops believing that politics solves his problems.
Dávila was a doomer, pretty much by definition since he was a reactionary.
But the chart is more of a pH scale for different social orders, or "polities"—hence "political". You can have certain preferences for some social orders over others, while still very much being a doomer.

This/These. Each an epitome of 20th century doomer lit. Remember kiddies: It is deathly important to be schooled in THE CLASSICS! If you are unsure of where to start, then these 3 authors are where it's at! I should mention also that Burroughs [pic related] was nothing less than a massive fan of Celine. Bukowski, on the other hand, was more of a Knut Hamsun [the Norwegian Dostoevsky] kind of guy:

Hardly a surprise. Decline of the West is one of those books that made me realise just how utterly futile it is to try to fix the current situation of the world. People with much more intelligence, courage and strenght tried to but they failed, see the events of WW2.

You are correct. Though admittedly, I would say that "The Place of Dead Roads" is even more so. As well as being a personal favorite of mine.
As far as newfags looking to delve into W.S.B. are concerned, optionally I would suggest "Exterminator" [pic related] which, in this anons opinion, is perhaps the perfect entry-level Burroughs work. As well as being a far less intimidating read than his more directly experimental novels, those being the ones he wrote using his infamous yet tried-&-true "cut-up" technique.

Very much so! The perpetual outsider was he, seemingly despised by all & everyone, besieged at every twist & turn by forces quite beyond his control, constantly lamenting his terrible, ill-omened existence. Celine in a nutshell.

Kek. What an excellent concept! The results would be fascinating, I am sure!
Perhaps unrelated: You are no doubt aware that through the use of cut-up Burroughs was convinced that he was able to foresee/forecast future events, as well as possibly manifest them into existence? Faintly I recall Burroughs once claiming to have quite deliberately burned down a restaurant that had shown him nothing less than awful service, by way of using cut-up with photographs & tapes/field recordings made within the neighborhood where the restaurant in question had previously stood. Though again, I am a bit light on the exact details.
But yes, in that sense as well as the merely literary, yours is a worthy idea. Please do!

I prefer reading paper, especially because no Silicon Valley faggot can delete my collection that way.
But, due to my half of my house already being a library and me not wanting to have to purchase a second building just to store books, I only get some stuff in hardcopy. Cookbooks are always paper because I don't want to ruin my kobo, programming books are paper because that way it's easier to write the code examples, any SHTF-book is paper because if society has died I probably can't get Internet for a while, any occult book is paper because electronics can act up during rituals, political/philosophical books are paper because of the aforementioned silicon valley fags.
Entertainment books are without exception electronic.

This seems well written as an announcement, a manifesto, a call to action, ect.
Normally such things involve a context of terrorism or propaganda campaigns. However, if you intend to write political theory I suggest working on your rhetoric; taking notes and re-writing bits of texts while reading other theory helps with that immensely. The point here is to use the big words as a tool for compressing ideas into extremely concise, although dense, observations and analogies. You don't have to write theory though.

This. "Survivor" is literally the last great work of fiction I read before social media (& the internet in general) numbed my will to such an extent that I can no longer bring myself to pick up a book. Even now, I have a copy of "Pygmy" sitting here (dragged it out for no other reason than I thought its subject matter timely, & therefore an appropriate catalyst to get back into reading) though even under the crushing drudgery of lockdown, I am barely inclined to so much as glance at its dusty front cover.
I honestly never thought a time would come when escaping into the pages of another world, or into someone else's fictional life as a means of escaping my own, would seem like a chore. Pathetic. Fuck this fucking world.
And what ever happened to Palahniuk anyway?

>I honestly never thought a time would come when escaping into the pages of another world, or into someone else's fictional life as a means of escaping my own, would seem like a chore. Pathetic. Fuck this fucking world.
Of course it seems like a chore. There's only so much you can read of pre-millenial literature before you want something new, but the problem is that millenial authors are fucking abysmal. They are incapable of writing anything that isn't:
>DRUMPF! SJWS!
>FUCK CHAD/STACY!
>ADULTING IS HARD LOL
>What if we took something like Jane Eyre or Pride and Prejudice and put in ZOMBIES or VAMPIRES lol
>We're not jealous of zoomers. Honest. We're not. We don't resent them for doing what our generation failed to do, like have actual lives, creativity and actually protesting en masse on the streets instead of posting for updoots and (You's).
>Dude, boomers are such pussies. Like, why did they get shot standing up for what they believed in at Kent State when they could've just stayed home, saved lives, and sent a strongly worded letter to their congressperson like we do?
>BRITISH AUTHOR (Rowling) BAD!
>How do you do, fellow memers?
>I have no historical perspective at all, so here's why 2020 is the WORST YEAR EVER OMG!
>What if we took generic YA novel #9419 and blackwashed it? Don't bother changing anything but the skin color of the MC? Genius! (Same applies for so called LGBT literature)
>GENDER WAR NOW! Nevermind that I am an unwashed, fat fuck who has too high standards because I refuse to believe I could be anything less than great.
Pic related on how millenialoids can actually write something half-decent.

Remember pic related? The Soviet censors did not allow it to be published, but did Pasternak just give up and whine about being deplatformed like a little bitch?
>Pasternak sent several copies of the manuscript in Russian to friends in the West. In 1957, Italian publisher Giangiacomo Feltrinelli arranged for the novel to be smuggled out of the Soviet Union by Sergio D'Angelo. Upon handing his manuscript over, Pasternak quipped, "You are hereby invited to watch me face the firing squad."
Also, notice how he made a timeless piece of literature, not obnoxious cringy I WAS ONLY PRETENDING TO BE RETARDED LOL nonsense that will be mercifully buried and forgotten like the ET game for Atari.
