I want to play this, but I have to make a demigod build first because I want those extra points. On a side note, this really changes the balance of the demigod cyoa. For example, I never would have taken a drawback like "shortened lifespan" in the demigod cyoa. However, if I know that I’m going to become a true god and obtain immortality anyway, then a shortened lifespan in my mortal form is just free extra demigod powers that will carry over to my new god form.

There's no point in making the demigod build because nothing carries over. You just get 15 points and it's a continuation of the "story", as in you get to bring your companions if you feel like it and can afford it, but many of those companions are carried over anyway so it's whatever. I completed that CYOA awhile ago and I Just didn't feel like opening it. The other CYOA it mentions for "Voidship" actually matters though, you get to keep that.

Yeah, when I made that statement I had only read the first part of the CYOA. You're right, none of your powers carry over from the demigod CYOA. It wouldn't even matter if they did carry over, because the godly powers completely outclass and replace the demigod powers. I'm working on a build for this one now.

Eh, you're not really omnipotent and there are threats that can take you down. Another ultimate god, a horrorterror, or a large pack of cosmic entities can challenge you. So I think it's alright as a game. I'm still making my build. It's taking a while.

That "beyond the gender binary" thing was the worst part of the CYOA. The companion section was also pretty bad. Most of the companions that the CYOA offers you are Tumblr-tier. Thankfully, the CYOA generously lets us insert our own characters in. So that's what I did. All of my characters are either male or female and all of them hate niggers and jews. We're going to make the multiverse great again.

I quit here because the cyoa really goes to shit at this point and I'd rather just go to different franchises on my own than do the uninteresting quests the author wrote.

Here's the problems I have with this:

• Angels: first off, it's a big mistake to have the narrator be a companion in any cyoa; this is because it's almost impossible to write a characters whose sole purpose is dumping exposition be anywhere close to likable. This cyoa forces you to take the narrator as a companion. It'd be a lot more better if instead of the angel dumping exposition you start out totally alone and make the angel's personality from scratch later on. Relating to that, it feels thematically inappropriate to describe your angel as a "being of light". It says in the introduction that angels with souls of destruction exist, why can't we just have our angel's core match our aspect?

• It seems like this cyoa kind of assumes that you'll take the Genesis option over the Travel option. The only thing that Travel gets you is more quests, and, excepting Hunted, the quests have no reward at all for completing them.

• Variety: the cyoa attempts to paint a huge, infinite system of multiverses, and yet the only beings shown to pose any threat at all to you are cosmic entities and other Gods. Personally I think it's a mistake to try and concretely define the 'cosmic hierarchy'. The author says that every fictional franchises exists in the system of multiverses, that's enough to fill in the gaps. Tying into this, the author tries too much to integrate other cyoas into this one. You really shouldn't get 15 extra points just for playing another cyoa that the author wrote, it doesn't even make sense in-setting since it says you don't retain any powers from your previous life.

• Power Levels: I get that this is trying to depict a cosmic-level setting, but the player still feels almost omnipotent. There needs to be some sort of limitations set on the player, if only to keep interacting with actual people rather than only universe-eating abominations still relevant. There is loads of limitations from folklore and popular culture that you could integrate here. For example: forcing you to obey the rules of hospitality, making you weak to your opposite aspect, varying degrees of limiting you from directly influencing mortal society (this would make the Imbue power a lot more useful), et cetera. It just needs something preventing you from waltzing into a universe and just snapping your fingers and instantly bending it to your will. Maybe start out with 50 points and add 20 or so for every limitation you take? I'm just spitballing.

• Companions feel really imbalanced. This ties into power levels a lot; most of the 2 point companions sound like they'd just be dead weight since they're not, you know, gods. Also I think there's only one actually evil companion you can take (the android), and two who can just be described as "not moral". The rest are written like boyscouts. The is really pronounced in the family members, which is okay since you can make your own, but I didn't really see anybody who caught my eye in the exclusive companion section. A custom option would be good here.

Also, as someone else pointed out, the Godly Size power seems broken. As it's written you can literally destroy universes with it by growing really big and just crushing them. And it makes you practically invincible.

I agree with some of your points and disagree with others.

• I think the angel made a decent narrator.

• I agree that genesis is far better than travel, because you have so much more power in your own multiverse. Those who choose genesis have to take the spark of reality item, so they end up with 3 less points, but that doesn't even begin to make up the difference. Travelling just sucks compared to genesis.

• I actually liked the hierarchy. Humans, demigods, heroes, and lesser gods should not stand a chance against you. If lesser creatures posed a threat to ultimate gods then being a god wouldn't feel very godly, and that feeling of being at the pinnacle of power seems to be what this CYOA is about. If you wanted to feel threatened by lesser creatures, then you could play the Demigod CYOA instead. I agree with your point about the 15 extra points for playing the Demigod CYOA though. I think that's a bad way to link CYOAs together.

• What prevents you from waltzing into another multiverse and bending it to your will would be any resident ultimate gods or cosmic entities that would take offense to your changes. I think that other ultimate gods, horrorterrors, cosmic entities, and unique entities like the hunger do pose enough of a threat unless you make an escape build or build an overpowered team of gods that cover each other’s weaknesses like some of the people above. If it's within your own multiverse, then I think you should be able to just waltz in and dominate it as an ultimate god.

• I completely agree on the worthlessness of companions. The divine imbue ability lets you create an unlimited number of demigods, so why would anybody spend 2 points to purchase an individual demigod? Divine imbue costs 6 points to purchase, and lets you create up to 5 heroes. Ciri and Max are heroes, and both cost 3 points. So, you can directly purchase 2 hero companions, or you can purchase an ability that lets you create 5 heroes of your choice. Even the 3-point and 4-point lesser god / cosmic entity companions are completely worthless if you took genesis and boosted the creation aspect in your multiverse, because it states that you can create as many lesser gods and cosmic entities as you want! Only gods with ultimate powers that you can't create yourself are worth taking. Barry and Daioris are probably among the best there. Daioris gives you access to ultimate heart at 1 point cheaper than an ultimate god. Barry can hide from gods of darkness and detect them, so he can quietly observe them without them knowing they are being watched.

• I agree that godly size is completely broken and needs to be toned down, or there need to be abilities that are specifically made to destroy large entities.

After thinking it over a bit I think you're right about the power levels and hierarchy. It still could lead to a bit of confusion imo since in the Travel description it says you can visit other franchises and the metaphysics of these settings usually varies wildly from what is described in the cyoa.

I still think the angel is a bit out of place though. It only really makes sense to have one if you're a God of Creation; having a clichéd, holy angel just seems silly for a God of Destruction or Darkness. Looking at what the angel is actually capable of I don't think it'd really be much of a minus if it was made Creation-exclusive, with maybe an additional ability purchase added to let other aspects make angels, similar to the Imbue power. Even with all the angel powers purchased it's only on the level of a 2-point companion, the only utility I can think of for it is either keeping it as an item for the meager buffs or leaving it on some world you have investments in to manage things. Honestly it seems to me like the author just wanted an angel waifu.

I think you gentlemen are thinking of it a little bit too much like a game with stats. If that's what the author was going for he failed at that spectacularly. I think of this more like a sandbox cyoa, which I personally enjoy far, far more.

Furthermore, there's actually absolutely nothing that can threaten even the weakest of ultimate gods. You can only be temporarily inconvenienced. Even the death of everything is just inconvenient as you have to go to the spook-between and turn into an old god.

Look at the description for the technopathy skill. It says you will be able to enhance and eventually replicate any of the items that you purchase. That includes the "spark of reality" item. You can use the spark of reality item to create a multiverse. So, even if your multiverse collapsed you could just create a new multiverse. You wouldn't have to become an old god.

A God could form an intergalactic army in 500 years, it's stupid to spend points for the privilege of meeting OC characters when you could just buy more powers or items with them instead.

Companions are still largely pointless

The angel is still pointless

The homestuck crossover is tacky but that setting's hope/rage aspects do make more sense than your creation/destruction ones. You should replace those.

Why are there so few evil companions? Most of these people seem to share almost the exact same code of ethics.

It would make more sense to make increasing your strength and speed divine powers instead of making you buy an aspect to increase them.

Stealing characters from other settings and then slightly tweaking them and presenting them as oc is very offputting.
