What are some 水 watches? Casio is pretty aesthetic with its utilitarian design, but Tokyo Flash has some pretty interesting designs.

The only downsides are that the surface is extremely prone to scratching and the screen connection might be unstable (fixable, but doing that probably will compromise the waterproofing).

I have a simple casio g-shock with a solar panel. It've been working for 10 years, without replacing the battery. The set of it's features is simple - what a basic watch can do + date, timer, stopwatch, alarm, timezones. Pretty 水.

>can work with FOSS
Great, but does it have some extra features besides showing hour, date and having to charge it weekly?

You have a point, but in the cyber world old watches would be worn by eccentrics or people that care about their freedom. A cyber normie would just dive into botnet, even connect one with their brain.
>>55324
So many features. Is it a botnet?

I would argue that the /cyber/ aspect of a smart watch is that it is used as a wrist computer, not just a chronograph. While that is the purpose of a "Watch," there are many other uses for a wrist display, early GPS watches (that did not link to the botnet) would display a minimap (iirc garmin made some of these).
Think of a smart watch as what should be a replacement of a HUD/AR/VR headset or goggles, so you can view data or use that data as a task assistant.
Early GPS watches (and some of the better G-Shocks) were onto something with features, but they got turned into botnet (wouldn't want to be able to see your own coordinates or trails without being able to sync it to you google account and show all your facebook friends now would we?)
I actually used to wear a first generation GPS watch, that had no link features (you had to physically plug it in to see data) and it used GPS timing signal for location (instead of smartphone link like most today) and internal storage to keep run/walk and location data, you can also still buy standalone heart-rate monitors for pretty cheap if you want those features. Of course people thought I was weird/dumb for having that at the time, but now everybody does the same thing except linked to the botnet.
There are also analog watches with primitive bluetooth link to forward music/adjust volume (iirc saiko made some)
personally, the 91-F is the premier /cyber/ watch, because it is simple, conveys an edgy attitude in some circles, and can be hacked to display inverse polarity and you can modify some of the hardware easily.

When people started wearing smart watches, I remember someone telling me about how he used to use his to take pictures of women in strip clubs that prohibited photography lel

i own this one (black model). the world maps shows the timezone displayed as main time. the analog face always shows local time and you can preprogram 4 timezones. it's a great watch (i still love the hourly time signal, great during meetings to get people finish them on time).

Does anybody wear reactor watches?
>ultra high tech glow coating

>composite chassis and high density plastic components, only the core is metal
It is really durable and high tech, but not one of the "big brands"
>Never Dark® is the first technology to combine the intense brightness of Superluminova with the multi-year longevity of tritium, providing optimal illumination under all lighting conditions. Because it can take up to 30 minutes for the human eye to fully adjust to the dark, Superluminova’s intense peak brightness makes a Never Dark® watch easily visible during that initial period. This can be even more important when moving repeatedly from light to dark (such as when going below deck on a boat during the day), as the Superluminova will continually recharge and the eye will not have time to adjust. In situations where the watch will remain in the dark for many hours, the tritium will remain visible for years, even if the watch is never returned to the light.

Actually… the Unddark watches of the early 1900s were basically harmless to the wearers since the metal and glass is more than enough protection for the wearer. It was only the women who painted the dials on the watches who got sick and died since they would lick the tip of the paintbrushes all the time to get the tip of the brush thin.

tritium gas is a self contained beta emitter in a glass tube. Unlike radium (used to be painted on), as long as you dont take a hammer to the watch and directly inhale the glass you will be fine.
With radium, the watch stops glowing because you burn out the material that glows, with tritum, the watch stops glowing as the gas decays into harmless helium.

I just want a skinwatch, chummers. Someone will invent a simple one soon enough. Until then I have a watch that lights up when you tap the face and tells the time with LED dots instead of hands. I dig it.

I have been considering a mechanical watch - they are premium product and built durable, they are inferior in time keeping to any electrical watch, but probably accurate enough not to be of concern given the preponderance of clocks to adjust time by. The emit no electrical signal of any kind, and have no heat signature.
Then again, the best way to identify huamns is probably celluar/wifi signals or infrared emissions. A standard quartz watch wouldn't effect either of these factors.
