Yeah pretty much. Unlike the other clay people, Emmy has that godlike power that she could easily use to destroy everything or reshape it if she wanted. That's why she's a threat. But the clay family people themselves also are completely convinced she's Hester reborn and Hester is more dangerous because she's ready and willing to manipulate the world around her. So yeah either way you look at it, she's dangerous to the world. Which they only really seem to care about because they live in it. They've shown no qualms about killing people or even any real genuine good feelings towards em. So them just trying to protect themselves and their world seems to be the only reason they want Emmy gone. Even if it means using Kammi, who actually is Hester reborn, to do it for them. Since they're probably worried Malachi will come after them if they break the law.

He was on Shock Waves a couple months ago and he was open about his writing process being going in blind and seeing where the story takes him. Which almost never leads to good endings. Just look at King. Bunn seems like a genuinely cool guy and has a clear knowledge and love of horror but he's not a great writer.
