Wouldn't call it a crush, but when I was a young lad TV & movies were full of robots (and the factory automation push in media was at its peak). There was a show called Black Hole, which I didn't actually watch because we didn't get cable out in our remote neck of the woods - a small farm town, population 200.
There was a children's book based on Black Hole, and BOB the robot was endearing, I really loved turning the pages of his misadventures on the space station. I couldn't read yet, but the book came with a record to play, and the narrator would read the story to me, sound effects would play and the robots would read their lines as I tried to read along. Those are some of my first educational memories. I cared about those robots.
Around 1st grade a show came out called Small Wonder. A man makes a robot daughter in his garage, and everyone has to keep it a secret. VICI the robot learns about humanity and goes to school, etc. I had a huge crush on her.
Now I know the occulted knowledge hidden in the show about the shy robot that must be kept secret… It's even more beautiful.
