I saw a Pepper a few months ago during a seminar at work and I was blown away by how fluid her movements were. The voice was a bit silly (so high pitched it was impish) and she made a "robots overlords" joke but it was impressive.

Yes, that was the company that created Pepper. They only lease the robot to their customers, not sell. So technically they have full ownership rights retained and can legitimately make such demands.
