Is the idea that Americans love cheese and put it on everything just one of Jeremy Clarkson's recurring jokes or is it an actual stereotype of Americans? I'd assume it is, but can't find anything on it.

It's just a general white people joke, since the joke is that we eat cheese a lot but thats because we like the taste and can enjoy it. Unlike shit-skins who can't so much as eat yogurt without shitting themselves.

Cheese is a staple food in American cuisine. It is very common and if it isn't in the recipe directly it is often used as a garnish. Clarkson is being disingenuous, as both Italian and French cuisine use cheese as much as American cuisine. It's the typical Continental European food-snobbery. You can find "high culture" grits in the US but that doesn't change the fact that grits are primarily a commoners food. A commoners food that, like almost all American cuisine, Europeans cannot cook correctly. Look at what they do to burgers! Americans can't do European food, Europeans can't do American food.

Never take anything an Anglo says seriously. They are the most self-hating and wretched group of indigenous Europeans. They quickly sold out their fellow countrymen for the French, destroyed their language by adopting Latin and French linguistics, intentionally created an accent to separate themselves from the lower class, ruined the study of phrenology and race, created the concept of the White Mans Burden, fucked up the colonization of several countries, oppress their own native lower class, hate their own culture so much they constantly import culture from the French, Africans, Indians, and Germans, import hundreds of thousands of immigrants from India so they can have cheap labor and "superior" Curry, and have the audacity to shit on Americans and other Brits for their food palate. Anglos are the ultimate soy-boy who believes that because something is new of foreign it's immediately better.

Pretty ironic for someone from an Anglo country to complain about self-hatred in a tirade against Anglos.

>fucked up the colonization of several countries

Yes, because the former Spanish colonies like Mexico and Venezuela, or of Portugal, or Belgium, or anyone else turned out so much better off than the Anglosphere.

>French influence, selling out to the French, French culture

Have you considered it may have something to do with having been conquered and ruled by Frenchmen who spoke French, considered themselves French, and fought long wars over the rule of France?

Not everyone in America is Anglo, not everyone in Britain is Anglo, nor is an Anglo criticizing an Anglo self-hatred. I love British food. I love American food. I hate the snobbish attitude that is widely held by Anglos, but I do not hate Anglos like they seem to hate themselves. I find it very interesting you pick and choosey criticisms. Norman conquest wouldn't have been half as bad as it was were it not for the Anglo quickly attaching himself to the French teat and destroyed every bit of their home culture. Now you're left with the "enlightened" man who is quick to throw away all of his inheritance in favor of looking sophisticated.

I love America, I love Britain, but I hate that attitude because it's what destroys it.

The stereotype I've encountered regarding Americans is that they eat a tonne of sweet corn / maize.

We do eat a lot of corn but just not as corn. We eat a shit load of meat and corn is the primary feed for chickens, cattle, and pigs. The nutrition of the animals gets passed along the food chain so we indirectly eat a shit load of corn through that. Then there's high fructose corn syrup which is in fucking everything. It's cheap as shit due to supply so they put it in majority of the market foods that are processed in any way. If you eat a processed food you're eating corn. Pretty much the only way to get away from eating corn is going vegan and not eating corn. Corn is fine for the most part so there's no need of that but if we found out corn caused mortality rates to increase tomorrow it would fuck up the economy based on how much we grow and use corn.

Calm down man. I didn't advocate for veganism. I merely suggested the only way to cut corn out of your diet as ridiculous. If anything I said the opposite of advocating for veganism. Now settle down and go put some ketchup on your steak, you mad faggot.

Soak the whole thing - husk, silk, all of it - in salt water for 20 minutes.

Roast over open fire (grill).

Delicious.

(Peeling back the husk and silk after roasting is trivial, but opening the husk before roasting leaves gaps which makes it harder to cook the corn perfectly.)

It's really good. Kind of like a Thanksgiving Sandwich in that you're taking three common hor d'oevres (crackers/bread, cheese, and nuts) and combining it into one sandwich. They work with each other, playing off the nuttiness.

It's ironic, or appropriate, that all those heavy flaws also apply to the United States.

Regarding cheese i think the same, >>16651 is right about the joke used by minorities in the U.S. too but to be fair everyone heavily uses cheese in the entire continent other than caribbean negroes and andean indigenous groups, the former because they are highly intolerant to lactose (also don't know to do anything other than pick fruit) and the latter because there's no cows around there so they conform to their local crops and its plenty of variations.

>>16672

This is true at least in central america and the latin part of north america, it's not uncommon for a family of 4 to eat a kg/2lbs of maize products a day. But the use of corn syrup is frowned upon unlike in America, and the inclusion of it in products like soda was heavily criticized a couple of years ago when the U.S. lifted the embargo on Cuba and made all the cane sugar go there as a condition, thus destroying the soda market in half of latin america.

Also there's a new stereotype for americans in recent years here if you want to know, their use of avocado has become infamous as hell because they bought the entire export market along with half of the internal one, the price of it skyrocketed to 500% and nowadays it's rare to consume it as we did 5 years ago. The jokes come when talking about their contemporary cuisine and how they put avocado in toast, eat artificial tacos with nothing but avocado, avocado milkshakes, fried avocado, make guacamole with cheddar cheese and cold tomato and other assorted recipes that are considered ultimate kitchen sins. Some people when doing the shopping in border cities buy all the netted avocado they find and sell it back to their neighbors due to the absence of it in small towns.

>>16681

>in salt water for 20 minutes

>with everything around it

Orthodox, you are wasting too much energy there (unless you want it crunchy), use moderately high alkaline water, one way to do it is using limestone powder. It absurdly softens the corn (without husk) if you let it in for 5 to 8 minutes and then let it cool in the same water for 30 minutes. Then you grill it and you have a very soft cob that doesn't stick in your teeth.

Huh. Never heard of all that regarding avocado. Only heard of avocado toast and even then I think it's a silly meme. I mainly just wait for decent deals so that I can get avocado to make guacamole with.

Any good tips for guac by the way? I usually just finely chop up avocado, sweet onion, jalapeño, and roma tomato. Then mix it all up and add some chopped cilantro, garlic powder, and a bit of lime juice.

Salt water is there to rehydrate the husk and season the kernels.

Not trying to change the texture; I like the texture.

Cooking it this way is not about energy efficiency; it's about convenience because stupid Americans have excessively sized campfires anyway, may as well use it.
