Anon… Have you ever been to the US?
Americans are fat because we make high-fat, high calorie, Highly processed foods CHEAP.
Take McDonald's. You've had McDonald's, right?
Now imagine every sort of food market you can imagine has a McDonald's version of it. Cheap, fat-filled, and made very quickly.
Then marketing pushes for larger portion sizes. The European Large Cup for Soda is our Small. coupons and ads advertise double the amounts of food for the same price all the time.
The actual quality American foods tends to be homemade, cooked with relatively simple means, and better, healthier ingredients, and is fairly comparable to most Western-European diets.

Actually, if we're going to get technical about American cheese, then there's a number of original cheeses produced here that you would qualify as cheese. Colby, Monterrey, and Cottage cheese being most notable. Cream Cheese as well, while variations existed in 1300's England, the modern version was really only made and popularized in the 1800 Americas.

>implying that fat makes you fatter than eating loads of carbs
a big mac is way "worse" than a double down. Americans are fat for 2 huge reasons on top of a bunch of smaller ones.
1-they think low fat diets are good, so they eat 14 servings of carbs/sugar a day, so the fat they do eat isnt being used for energy.
2-being lazy as fuck and driving everywhere
also, pizza is trash.

>Americans are fat because we make high-fat, high calorie, Highly processed foods CHEAP.
We invented the ability to stuff enormous amounts of calories into foodstuffs because 70-80 years ago not too fucking long ago people could starve in a crop failure readily. In that background of industrial workers, construction workers, farm hands in an age before automated or convenience shit, you wanted high sodium/potassium, sugars, calories, and protein. Look at any English factory worker's typical diet from the turn of the century. It's not low calorie anything. It's bacon and early canned meats and endless fucking carbs (these people did not live by Atkins). Sugar consumption skyrockets from c1800 onward in UK/US but obesity doesn't become an issue for either country until the the late 1970s. The UK consumes less sugar per head now than it did in 1914. In other words, it doesn't become an issue until sedentary culture had taken root and the West's economies abandoned the factory for the office block and encouraged people to sit on their asses filing reports all day long.
Food preservation technology wasn't developed to stuff your face it was developed to ward off famine. It became that way over time due to the 50's cancer culture that arose telling people it was okay to kick back and enjoy the easy life pouring b52s into your soul while chainsmoking. And when it came to a generation that experienced the Depression, Dust Bowl and WW2? They went whole fucking hog on it, and indoctrinated their children to do so too. To them, it was a wonder! A miracle! Mass starvation gone at last, never to return! They had no idea what was coming. People like >>13479 are retarded and miss the point, because world society has moved on from looking at nutrition from a purely utilitarian macros and micros standpoint because nobody's getting pellagra anymore. It's become obsessed with the nature meme instead. This has taken place both in America and the rest of the world. Everything has to be holistic and take into account the gut microbiome, the fair trade movement, and your gender preference too. Don't like it much. I think it's running away from the simple truth that you're eating too fucking much without outputting the calories to something productive, and burying your head in crystals while your nonbinary partner cries on your shoulder.
It's hippy crap, in other words. Ship McD to starving Africans and they love you for life. Foods by themselves aren't healthy or unhealthy. Lifestyles are.

>We invented the ability to stuff enormous amounts of calories into foodstuffs because 70-80 years ago not too fucking long ago people could starve in a crop failure readily
People who lived by sustenance farming didn't have that problem. They had their own methods to preserve food. If you had a famine that affected farmers, you had bigger problems than what could be solved with a couple of canned goods and sugar-bags.
You invented industrial foodstuff because you needed easy to mass-produce, long-lasting can-to-meal food to keep alive the human-anthills you call cities.
>but obesity doesn't become an issue for either country until the the late 1970s
1970's are coincidentally the decade when USA mass-adopted HFCS .

Oh, that's real nice strawmanning. Look. America isn't the only nation to achieve first-world levels of comfort, where most people can just sit on their ass all day. (eg . Switzerland) . However, there's a reason why the fat american stereotype exists. Wherever home-cooked seed-to-table eating is replaced by the American model, American-style obesity slowly kicks in. See >>13473 .
>Ship McD to starving Africans and they love you for life
I'll grant you that, eating this crap is (marginally) better than starving to death.
I'm not trying to sell you processed pond-scum pills at 300$ a pop. That's made by the same … people .. that made you Mc'donalds . Same shit with a different strategy.
My dietary advice is simple:
Don't eat food that didn't exist 500 years ago.
That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. Go to the farmer's market, buy some shit, and cook yourself a meal, you pathetic excuse for a human calorie sink.

I recently tried Trader Joe's cottage cheese, and it was like eating out of a frat house puke bucket. Sprouts' house brand is good from what I remember. Breakstone's isn't great, but it is edible and available in almost any grocery store, so it's a decent choice for those that want an extra helping of brotein at breakfast.
Keep in mind, I eat it plain. I don't know if brand really matters as much if you're cooking with it (eg. spinach pie).

No, Americans are fat because of two major reasons.
The first is that it's fucking huge, and most of the time the average american spends is on commuting. That leaves a hell of a lot less time to make your own shit or even get anything that doesn't take 5 minutes to get from ordering to eating which is why fast food is so fucking huge.
The second is pic related. Turns out sugary shit isn't really healthy for you, and yet the government shoved this shit down every Americans throat since it was adopted. Reminder that sugar was considered a health food back in the 80s and 90% of all "low fat" things contain a fuckload of sugar to make it not taste like shit.

Another connected factor for America's fatness are corn subsidies. Cheap and abundant corn means cheap and abundant high fructose corn syrup, which means that sweets and other HFCS laden foods are cheaper than other options.
Other subsidies, like sugar beet one, contribute as well.

americans are fat because:
>stress (police state, multi-culturalism, how hard it is to earn a living and pay bills)
>chemicals in foods (capitalism builds monopolies, which cause food production to be consolidated and then shipped from one side of the country to the other, necessitating preservatives. not to mention free trade agreements that cause food to be shipped from the southern hemisphere which they irradiate so it lasts longer)
>the FDA (which enables food companies to poison us because that the main way illness is caused is diet, and western medicine only profits if you are sick. so big pharma pays both the food companies and the FDA to poison us, and allow us to be poisoned. 90% of what is in a US grocery store contains some type of poison, probably more)
