How do you fix up your hot dogs?
My favorites are:
>Fry in butter, add a but of BBQ sauce or similar. Sister says adding parmesan for some reason improves this
>Slice part way through, fry, add chipotle hot sauce and whatever greens I have
>Just drop a fried egg on it

I've had these. Literally makes no difference other than if you like beer, maybe you'll like the idea of something cooked in the drink you like and buy more.

That's why you cook two dozen, put the rest in the fridge and microwave them for 20 seconds when you're ready to eat. Enjoy an easy meal with the taste of external char prepared the day before.

put the hotdog on oven rack at about 350 (but lower is also OK) and when it gets about perfect put the bun over it and turn off oven and wait about 4min. I got a self-cleaning oven so don't care if drips a bit.
I've been experimenting with fresh "hot dog relish" of fresh chopped cabbage and onions, with mustard. The minced veg works really well with mustard to hold everything together and keep mustard from dripping. Most important is FRESH cabbage. Makes a nice counter point to the other highly processed meat, bread and mustard.
I'm hoping to expand that concept to a Burger, most likely with mayo, mustard, ketchup and fresh minced onion, tomato, and maybe bell peppers.

Hot dogs are gay and shit.
Here's a better version.
>Toss some bratwurst in a pot of beer (I like using Märzen.)
>Bring it up to a boil, then remove from heat when it begins boiling. Remove foam if needed.
>Let it sit for about eight hours or so.
>Bake some pretzel buns that can hold the bratwurst or buy some premade ones if you're lazy or don't have the ingredients for them.
>Take the bratwurst out from the beer and grill them for about 3-5 minutes on each side. Do not poke them with a fork lest you get hot juices spraying everywhere.
>Slice a pretzel bun and place a grilled bratwurst in.
>Top with honey mustard, grilled onions, and some sauerkraut and serve with a cold beer.

Speaking from an American perspective, I do enjoy bratwurst and these things called wieners. I have found in a store over here called "world market." according to them these wieners are from Germany. However, after doing some basic research they seem to have an origin in Austria. Regardless, I do enjoy the European counterpart to the American hotdog. With all that being said, the mutt inside me does still enjoy a hotdog fried in butter.

I think mustard is okay, I know of worse condiments to put on my dog/wurst. I have never tried grain mustard on my dog/wurst. That's something I need to do. Also the hotdog you described sounds like a pretty serviceable chili dog. Where are from in the USA? if you don't mind me asking. I understand anonymity is important. I am from the west coast so chili dogs are popular here too. Also, what kind of onions do you like on your dog?

No objection to mustard here.
Rest of family wants ketchup on hotdogs et al. I object to ketchup on tubular meat; spent too much time around Chicago, I suppose.
I'd rather have a small amount of brown mustard than a large amount of yellow mustard.
Also would rather that hot dog stands would offer WY Industries mustard (the little sachets with egg rolls), stuff is amazing on wurst.

Sounds bretty good.
My mom and I made some hotdogs last night. her's was this kind of pseudo hotdog casserole. What she did was shit split the hot dogs in half laterally and then put cheese inside. She put catsup on them, then put them in the oven. Half way through the cooking process she sprinkled shredded cheese on them. I deep fried my hotdogs in a cast Iron pan with a canola oil then put mayonnaise on the bun, put the hotdog on the bun, put ketchup on the hotdog then added capers. I liked both of them.

>mystery meat
Anon I'm sorry to say but that's not a thing. Hot dogs are just a sausage where the meat has been blended smooth. Typically made using a mix of meat trimmings, think the stuff stuck to the bones that are too small to be sold as is, usually mixed with other ingredients for different flavors or textures. It's not really different from any other sausage.
Hell they even tell you what meat it is. Most I see here are a mix of Beef, Pork, and Chicken. But there's plenty of pure beef ones, see a lot of turkey ones, basically anything.

Goddamn, you're stupid. Hotdogs are made from "food" waste, junk chemicals, corn syrup, xenoestrogens, soy, and "meat".

Nice

Tackling each of these though:
>Junk chemicals
No. For one a 'junk' chemical is a fucking weird idea that someone's got nebulous spare chemicals they need to get rid of hanging around. I think what you might be on about are acids, extracts, or other flavorings. If you could give an actual name I could clear it up for you but as a rule of thumb acids contribute to taste and pH levels, some also help with curing the meat, or some I believe do preservation. Extracts are pretty much always for flavor, ditto for MSG. Others are typically used to control pH levels or preserve the meat.
>Corn Syrup
This depends on brand. It is a common one though, especially in american brands. It's a very cheap form of sugar, which is a flavor booster that makes things taste better. Most processed foods have some in it (If not corn syrup than another kind of sugar). If you don't want it look for brands without added sugars.
>Xenoestrogens
I'm gonna need an exact example for this one. The best I can find would be Zeranol. It's used as a growth promoter in livestock, banned in the UK though. But this means it's present in pretty much all meat products. Butylated hydroxyanisole might be one too, it's a preservative but I don't know of any hot dog brands that use it.
>Soy
I think you mean Isolated Soy Protein. Which is basically just the proteins in soy beans (Though other grains can be used too, to make wheat protein or corn protein or whatever). Which by itself is relatively fine, it's an essential protein (Provides needed amino acids) however it does contain phytoestrogens. Which tends to affect cholesterol more than hormone levels unless you're getting them in insane amounts. Theres also Textured soy protein which is basically the same stuff but processed to get a texture desired by the manufacturer. That's the more common food additive for most frozen meals or processed meat items (Done to cut corners basically, it's a filler like most grains)
>"meat"
…It's meat. Meat is meat. Hot dogs are done with trimmings, the bits of meat too small to be used otherwise (A tradition as old as sausages). Poultry ones are mechanically separated, which is a process of putting bones under high pressure and basically sifting the meat still stuck to it out. This is still meat, stuff you'd normally suck off the bone or use for stock. The only notable different is it has a higher calcium content due to being closer to the bone. If you're on about pink slime that is just straight up beef trimmings which has had the fat removed and treated to kill off bacteria. And that stuff is in basically all ground beef products.
Learn to read labels and be specific with the ingredients that sound scary please. I'm a sucker for chemistry and food science so explaining this shit is fun.
